The ROM date is 10/11/2007 and the Radio is 1.54. I've downloaded the ROM but I can't install because I don't have an 8525 anymore.
Here's the file I downloaded RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00 _108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe

Thanks for the link. It seems that AT&T is duing this under some duress. The blurb on the site makes it clear that this is WM6, and also encourages hoarding! Here is the text before it goes away:
"Welcome to the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for the AT&T 8525. Please review the following prior to downloading and installing the ROM update on your device:
* This ROM is available from November 1, 2007 to February 1, 2008. After this date, the ROM will be removed from the website and will no longer be available for distribution.
* This ROM update is intended for the AT&T 8525 only and users should not load or attempt to load this version on any other device as it may cause serious issues/damage.
* At this time, Good Mobile Messaging is not supported on the AT&T 8525 with Windows Mobile 6. It is recommended that Good Mobile Messaging users not upgrade their device’s firmware at this time. Please note that once the latest firmware has been loaded, it can not be undone.
* HTC strongly suggests that users create a back up copy of this ROM and keep it in a secure place as all new and refurbished 8525 devices (including those received via Warranty Exchange) will come loaded with Windows Mobile 5 rather than Windows Mobile 6. "
Store it while it lasts.

I downloaded for warranty's sake only (I am quite happy with vp3G's fine, fine work), but it's really there.
Sad thing is, at&t's craptastic handling of the WM6 release was so threaputic, such a nice outlet for my normally bottled rage... I really don't know what to do now. ;)

I was the user in the AT&T forum that emailed the CEO and filed a complaint with the BBB. They agreed to exchange my 3 month old refurbed 8525 with a funky keyboard for a new Tilt for $100. I thought that was good deal.

If you will go to the HTC America site and download what appears to be the old ROM, the version is different is this WM6
here (http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00 _108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship.exe )

It actually seems that both web pages head to the exact same download server.
Both end up here:

The only difference is the file nave to d/l .... 1 is the old WM5, and the other is the new WM6
I don't think it's a scam..... just sloppy.

Since I saw the post earlier here about the update posted at AT&T WM6 I went there the the AT&T Forum to download it but decided to check out the post first to see if anyone tried it. I saw post after post about the Rom was not real ,it was an older version, the web address was a fake. I could not believe these people. Yesterday if you even mentioned WM6 you got banned now today post after post of non belief. The Rom was right under their noises and still they complain that it wasn't there. So I downloaded the Rom that did not exist from the so called fake site that wasn't there. and I installed the Rom that AT&T would not allow people to talk about. Well the wait is over it's here and as I said for months when it arrived it would be a GIANT LETDOWN! after installing it I found the expected AT&T crap, 33 meg of storage ram, and 22 meg of program ram. It is acceptable as far as speed goes but acceptable is being kind. The included programs are well crap that if you could delete you would. Telnav, AT&T music, good email, which they forewarn you that it does not work . All and all a waste of time compared to the superb chefs we have here, Schaps, vp3g, austinsync, TNT and if I forgot to mention anyone it's only because I haven't tried your build yet. I had the new AT&T Rom on my phone (8525)for about 20 minuets and the was a huge waste of time. I quickly went back to Schaps 4. 0 RC. I will say when I got back here to the XDA fourm I saw a lot of people saying the same things about it not being the correct Rom ,or AT&T is not going to release it until 11/1 or the web address is fake, Why are people so quick to judge if you downloaded the Rom you would see that it is the correct Rom RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00 _108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship
Anyway 2 thumbs down on this build from AT&T, Thanks for nothing AT&T but at least you gave us WM6 so now there is no reason to go to the at&t forum, Now you will be able to talk about WM6 without getting banned. that is unless you say that it is load of crap and that if you wanted a good version you need to go to XDA!!! Later Ed...

OK since I believed one of the posters here who claimed to have over 44 meg of app ram and 48 meg of storage left after installing AT&T's WM6 which was double what I had after I installed it, I decided to re-install and reset before the AT&T junk installed and I have 29.55 app ram and 40 meg storage. Not nearly what this poster said but enough for me to evaluate this build with a better frame of mind. It is fast and after installing Resco explorer, audio recorder HTC home, spb time, total commander, and also I had to setup the AT&T 3g proxy settings manually because I aborted the full bloat install. I am left with about 24 meg of storage and 29 meg of application ram which makes this a sweet build , so I admit I was a bit harsh with my first look, So without all the AT&T junk I think you will like it. I guess after waiting so long for AT&T to release and being Banned from their forum I was quick to judge, I will admit when I am wrong. Sorry Guy's

You don't know what you are talking about...I am showing 44.7 MB of Storage and 48.77MB Program Mem. I loaded HTC Home, Resco Radio, Resco Recorder, 1-Calc, couple of games, iGo Nav, Windows Live.... That was on HTC 8525. It is the fastest ROM I tried and I tried them all. No freezing... No Heating while streaming audio, and Nav is flash fast with maps...
I am sure when it gets dissected by VP3g it will only get better.

I find "44.7mb" of free storage is hard to believe. Did you dump the bloatware on it's first start up?

This ROM update is intended for the AT&T 8525 only and users should not load or attempt to load this version on any other device as it may cause serious issues/damage.
At this time, Good Mobile Messaging is not supported on the AT&T 8525 with Windows Mobile 6. It is recommended that Good Mobile Messaging users not upgrade their device’s firmware at this time. Please note that once the latest firmware has been loaded, it can not be undone.
HTC strongly suggests that users create a back up copy of this ROM and keep it in a secure place as all new and refurbished 8525 devices (including those received via Warranty Exchange) will come loaded with Windows Mobile 5 rather than Windows Mobile 6.

Well I downloaded the ROM last night and everything works great! I went back to the site to get the URL to send to a friend so he could download it and guess what? The ROM is gone! They put the old one back up on the site.
Don't know what's going on, but it's back tot he old as of 8:30am.

The new ROM works great so far. I grab it from the website last night, but as already stated the main webpage has been pulled again. I think the AT&T web master is just playing with people... you know those nerds sitting at the office changing the page every few hours to mess with peoples heads.
Anyhow... it works for me.

Yep. The download was there about 12 hours ago, not it is back to WM5. Another person and I posted the top part of the blurb from the web page. May be WM6 would appear again on Nov 1.

I just downloaded it like 45min ago... it was the WM6 rom with the proper radio and what not... all I can say is yes it eats up some space but its fast. Space doesn't worry me since I have a 2gig micro card.
I had vp3G's rom on here before and it was much slower than this one. I'll stick with this for a while and see how it goes.

I downloaded and flashed this ROM this noon....the dial pad is really ugly...I've searched for many times but I can't find how to change the dial pad to make it the same as the QM5's dial pad. I don't need the 3g dial pad as there is not 3g network at all in China

I don't know what is QM5, but u can make it like default wm6 by downloading advanced configuration tool version 1 by Schap, and voila. It is better and shows the contacts directly in phone sacreen.
have been running the new ROM for several hours now...as others have said, it is a good bit faster than the previous leaks..and also seems to have less bloat (still some bloat, mind you).
Doesn't allow you to synchronize hotmail from within outlook...biggest negative I have seen so far...

And now this is what I get??? The old rom. Damn AT&T.
The official date for release is Nov. 1st.
The conspiricy theroists have not read everything completely. It is Nov 1st in some parts and I believe that the correct ROM is loaded on some servers accesible from the US. This is a process loading the files on servers around the world and i believe in time it will be loaded on all and available as well.
I am wondering how the "official" ROM compares to vp3g's ROM

I'm sorry for the type error and it should be WM5. My point is that I dont like the contacts to be shown in the phone screen. I don't mind the bloat as there will be enough free storage memory left for me even though there are so much bloat

gotta say I have been running vp3g's rom for some time and I liked it a lot. But after upgrading to this rom this morning my first impression even with all the bloat (animated boot with sound, all kinds of programs, ect) this rom is a lot faster, both in booting and general use. I was also having a lot of problems with phone and data connections that have not happened in the couple of hours I've had this rom loaded.
after loading some "must haves" my memory is:
storage 33.12 free
program 26.31 free
So far this radio and rom are awesome!

I have seen at least two cycles of WM5 link -> WM6 link and back again. I have a feeling that this has changed because of the way I connect - directly on my broadband or via my company's VPN. Anyway, the WM6 link is on the page again.

For me, this is the first time in my life to like an official ROM, after about 15 hours of using it as it is (with all that bloats of At&T) and it was very fast and stable, i do hard reset and i have cancelled the sitting up of extended rom matters. Now, i have 39 mega storage and 29 mefa programs. I will install some must have and see the final freee memory i'll have.

You must have canceled the AT&T software install There is no way you got all the ram and storege. Don't get me wrong I am glad you are happy, but I have seem other post with the same mem as my install. if you bypassed the setup install then you have a somewhat clean install no demo or AT&T stuff. so if that is the case and you are happy then I am happy for u. It DOES show 44.7 MB of Storage and 48.77MB Program Mem... As Total Memory, NOT Free :-)
Not to say that the ROM is bad. It actually feels very snappy. expect to have about 24.5MB free program memory after loading ms live, htc home...

I just went to the HTC america support website. WM5 is back up. No WM6
It looks like a lot of confusion comes from the fact that HTC apparently has two separate websites for North America that look similar, but only one is up-to-date.

However, my goodlink administrator has updated my client to Good Mobile Messaging client version 5.0.0.67 which he heard from Good that version 5 clients it work with WM6.
Any advice on going ahead with it? While I've used ROM's in the past I've been waiting for the official as I didn't want any disruption around my email device and was just short of time to try out something from the community.
If I go down this path, I assume the tools available on this community will let me change the ROM back to something else even if it isn't supported by AT&T?
More than anything I just need to make sure the email works, even if I have a minor workaround or two to deal with.
Many thanks,
Josh

I think the reason this ATT OEM ROM is faster than those offered by cooks here is that there is no .dll file conflict. All progs and files are in sync and operate without a glitch. I have been running this Rom for over 15 hours without any glitch of any kind. I can type while on call. Streaming music gets muted while a phone call in progress and comes back on when done. Internet is fast, No call drops , I also use the Resco I-radio without a glitch... all that without the phone getting hot. With Schaps I can fry an egg on the phone, with VP3g I can warm a cup of coffee. I have 4 HTCs and I run all 4 simultaneously with 4 different Roms and the ATT wins on overall performance.
I am not saying I will stick to this one... I can only imagine how great the ATT Rom will end up to be when VP3g and Schap get done with it. These two guys are incredible and deserve all the praise. I can't wait for their future ROMs.

The program your describing is HTC Home, if you go to Pandora's Kitchen you should find it there, and if aren't familiar with cooking I believe you can find a .cab file for it around here.
Gentlemen,
I am working on stripping out this ROM, I've already stripped out the PTT, and the Voice Command, I'm kind of stuck on Real Player, does anyone know the exact files, and .dll's that need to be removed. I have a copy of Realplayer as a .cab file, but the files that are in the .ROM, aren't in the .cab file. Does, anyone have any ideas?

If they changed anything between .2 and .3, it wasn't much. Only thing I've found thus far is the complete removal of Windows Live vs. just killing the shortcuts. That would account for the reports of an increase in available storage. Claims that it's "significantly faster" than the last are delusional, IMO.
Nevertheless, I will be updating vp3G v3.62 to use this build before I retire from the Hermes cooking game. Stay tuned.... :)

I have been using the various WM6 flavors by VP3G and good mobile messaging for 3 months now with no problems.
AT&T had to come up with some kind of excuse for not releasing the WM6 upgrade during Q3 2007 as was stated on their web site. My favorite conspiracy theory is that they were waiting until Tilt sales had died down a little bit. Obvious, but probably true.

The radio on this ROM sucks.
Signal drops for no apparent reason, then reestablishes itself on its own after a few seconds, but MS Push email stops working. Activesync displays "waiting for connection' and never reconnects.

Today, noticed my PDA in Miami (which is 3G) was reporting a G right after I hung up the phone... a few seconds later it was an E, then it went to 3G.... most odd, going back to the previous radio myself.
Actually it's reporting the same radio version..... hmmmmm...

Hello I am kind of new to all this, not meaning that I am not used to fiddling with devices, just that I just got my first HTC, a TYTN, which is one of the European names for the Hermes.
My questions is whether it is ok for me to use this WM6 upgrade on my European version of the phone, ie. it is not an At&T phone.
I already have WM6 installed (an older rom), but it is a Norwegian version, and albeit it is my natve tongue, I cannot stand the translations they do on the system, so I really want an English version on it instead, hence my desire to install this ROM :D
Thx in advance

Hello I am kind of new to all this, not meaning that I am not used to fiddling with devices, just that I just got my first HTC, a TYTN, which is one of the European names for the Hermes.
My questions is whether it is ok for me to use this WM6 upgrade on my European version of the phone, ie. it is not an At&T phone.
I already have WM6 installed (an older rom), but it is a Norwegian version, and albeit it is my natve tongue, I cannot stand the translations they do on the system, so I really want an English version on it instead, hence my desire to install this ROM :D
Thx in advance
It will be ok to upgrade as long as you have unlocked the phone and have appropriate boot loader (SPL). Read the WIKI page, links on the top to understand...dont just flash before you read throughly, if you do, you will brick the phone...

Thx for the very swift reply.
Yes I know there is more to it than just click and go :) But thx for stating that, as I am sure neither me or anyone else need such hightech bricks.
Now I will now get on with the step by step instructions, and change to WM6 English version :D Yoo hoo!

Ok, My biggest complaint is that I can no longer set up my hotmail account under mail. It wants to have me connect to the internet and use the windows live mail page. I do not want that. Does anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? Is there a way to install windows live (which is suppose to be included) in my device? Thanks
VP3G HELP!!!! lol. I seriously think I am starting to like your cooked rom a lot better. This rom is fast but I think that is because they pulled windows live... All too sad that ATT is sucking like this.
Search for Windows Live cab files, there is lots of different versions around...I have windows live installed from one of those cabs...
I've issues now.
Using Total Commander to remove battery and comm manager icons seems to make my phone not boot with this rom. Any others have this?
Work around?Yeah, don't hide the comm manager icon. Known issue with recent builds. :)

What is causing the new builds to not boot from hiding the comm manager icon?
Anyone working on a fix?

 Good god, man... why in the hell would you deploy anything that quickly when it was just released yesterday?
FWIW, no problems with Push here, although I haven't been out of my office since flashing it and my radio is from the prior leaked ROM.
I'll tell you why, because their latest 'Official' WM5 ROM was a pile of sh*t too, and it couldn't get any worse than that one. Turns out it is exactly the same regarding this issue, so lose - lose.
Have lost all faith in AT&T releasing any reliable MS Push WM ROM for the 8525.
vp3G, if you know of one, PLEASE TELL ME. Unfortunately, it must be an 'official' AT&T release due to our AT&T contract otherwise I can assure you I would have gone with one of yours.

Thank you for your help and reply. I was typing in the wrong name for the cab. Standard ID10T error. Oh well. Live and learn. I still have to say that I love vp3g's build slightly better than the official release at this time. slightly slower but worth it

Well, you can flash an older radio (1.40.30 and 1.48 are the AT&T builds, i believe, but they should all work) and keep the official ROM.
Unless thats against ur contract too. Link to radios is in my sig.

One tip from the Engadget post comments: if after the upgrade you can no longer make or receive calls, remove the battery and SIM card from the phone, and put them back in.

I've been using vp3g with this same radio for about six weeks now, and not having issues in northern calif, tahoe, and reno. Also using ms "push" email for about 5 weeks with this config, and again NO issues. if a connection gets broken, it seems to have no issue s reestablishing itself and updating.
I mention this because it does not seem their are any significant differences in the builds.

For some reason, HTC's website acts weird when some people access it. There have been many people who say "Oh it still only has WM5." To view the updated site, you need to clear your cookies and cache. It then should show you the updated site.
Good luck. :)

Has anyone had problems with the question mark not working with this new ROM? It's always worked until I updated to the new ROM.
This is a clean ROM no add ons or anything. The question mark is just a dash like the dash with the D in fact both D and F create a -

I'm in North Tampa and have no problems. The signal is much stronger now and my speeds have increased. Only problem I have with this ROM is the question mark doesn't work after updating, BUT I will tell you this... This ROM is very fast.
I run ALL VP3G's ROM's and I'm just waiting and checking the boards couple times a day waiting for him to release his new one

Hmm,, I thik it may have been hidden from HTC's official download page, although using the direct link provided at the beginning of this thread does still work. I have tried clearing cookies/caches on tweo different machines and IE/Firefox, however the HTC upgarde site's link still has the old ROM file. I wonder if there is an issue that HTC may be delaying the link update on the support page?

whats the diference in www.htcamerica.net and www.america.htc.com
www.htcamerica.net doesn't have the update
www.america.htc.com has the update.
Why is that when they are the same HTC.

I went into cingular.com and went into support and then into HTC website from cingular and they still have wm 5 up, but when I go to the top of the page and change region, N American English, select carrier, AT&T, then click on 8525, at the bottom of the page, click on Download the latest 8525 software upgrade which takes you to
http://www.america.htc.com/support/8525/software-downloads.html,
and it comes up wm6????

Will flashing the official WM6 ROM mask that I've done prior flashings, making it unnecessary to go back to factory issue in the event of a problem?
Or will I still give it away because of the SP 2.10 Olipro?
Just today I started getting the infamous White Screen. It's happened twice now and am concerned that I might have to turn it in for warranty replacement. And/or that if it happens again I might not be able to flash the ATT ROM or go back to the original settings.

If that fails too try 1.50. I personally didn't see any difference between 1.48 and 1.50. If all those fail...well i dont remember ever hearing of that.

I upgraded to WM6 ROM on my 8525. I ran into syncing problem. It synced fine for a few times then problem started. It connected but couldn't sync. It was just syncing forever. Sometimes rebooting computer and device worked, sometimes did not work. I had to delete the partnership for the sync to work again. But then sync problem came back again after a few tries.
Has anyone else had the same problem? any advise? thanks

I installed VP3G's latest ROM last night, and everything worked smoothly. However, today I ran across an annoying issue. I am not sure if this issue is from VP3G's ROM or anything else causing it. So let me give you a lowdown...
Device: AT&T 8525
ROM Version: Vp3G 3.62.3
Repro Steps:
1) Go to Compose a new email message and type into the message body
2) From the slider keyboard, hit the blue-key to insert symbols in the message (the symbols are represented on the keyboard with blue characters on top of the alphabets. Example, alphabet 'F' has a blue-key '?'. So if you active the blue-key button and press 'F', the symbol '?' should be inserted.)
3) Active the blue key and hit 'F'. Instead of '?', I see '-' (hyphen) inserted into my message! This happens with a few other keys too ('~' inserts '!', etc).
Does this repro with anyone else too? Can someone suggest me a way to fix this?
Thanks!

I bet it's this:
if u haven't already, then make sure "enable advanced network functionality" is unchecked on device.
You can find that Fubar setting by going to Settings/Connections/USB to PC
For some reason WM6 has it enabled...I was pulling hair out trying to sync. Hard reset device, dumped AS and reinstalled many times...etc...then found that answer in the Hermes forum. Viola! Works great now...

How are you getting on, any issues?
As mentioned above, after downgrading the radio to 1.40.30.00, this is absolutely flawless. I can't truly believe that I have gotten the 8525 to work so well by doing this. Finally content!
Please let me know your MS Push experiences.

As an FYI, I tested 1.47.00.10 and it experienced the exact same issue 1.54 has with MS Push. Problem was less frequent, but certainly there.
1.40.30.00 is the only radio that runs without fail that I have found.
Battery life seems good too.

I've been flashing new roms to my hermes for a while. (vp3g now) My external speaker is acting up and randomly not working so I'm warrantying it while i can. However, when I go to update this, my device turns off when it gets to the flashing screen and the prog on my computer says it's lost connection.
Is it my SPL? What are the requirements? I'm pretty sure I'm using Hard SPL 2.1.
