Camera Album : to get the camera album to work you need to tap the picture once and the menu opens up press the i (gesture tips) and close it and camera album should work.

hello all. I want to upgrade to Prophet Touch IX from Prophet Touch VIII and Radio ROM 02.47.21. A couple of questions:

1. I have Windows Vista on my laptop and the last time I tried to run RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe in preparation for upgrading to Prophet Touch IX, the upgrade (or rather downgrade) came up with errors and failed to downgrade. I understand some other downgrade ROMs can be used to downgrade successfully with Windows Vista. can you point me the right direction? as in specifically what I can use?

2. after downgrading with another ROM, can I safely assume I can upgrade to Prophet Touch IX safely with Windows Vista? has anyone ever tried it?

3. I have some issues with my existing radio rom (I think it's a radio rom problem). in some areas here in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines, I can't send SMS or even access my phone settings in the control panel (it keeps saying "not ready, try again in 15 seconds"). what's the best possible radio rom I can use with Prophet Touch IX?

firstly if your battery is 1 year old and while making calls your handset resets itself after about more than 3 minutes during a call and battery level is 40% or lower plus battery losses charge fast gives indication battery needs replacement, for vibrator it could be a loose contact pin too or probably bad vibro motor (lastly ,some software or registry settings might be corrupt), but if its battery you suspect then you should borrow new one from some of your friends for 2-3 days and test it.

I know there are guides and everything, and I flashed my phone several times. But could please someone answer me this question:

I have gullums touch Rom VII on my prophet.

Do I have to downgrade to WM5 before I flash it with IX or is it ok to just do step 2?

last time I upgraded from PDAViet to gullums rom I did both of the step and F*ed up my rom. I had to flash it with the orginial O2 rom again.

So in general, what steps do I have to follow if I want to upgrade from one old WM6 rom to a newer version?

2 times already i tried flashing, doing the downgroad first.
1st with the nvid aku2.2 rom, 2nd time with pdaviet temp. After updating to prophet IX the phone starts (i did the hard reset) and gets stuck at the screen where it shows my ipl, spl, radio version etc...

So here's my question.
If i downgrade, do i HAVE TO flash to a version of wm5? Or are the nvid aku2.2 and pdaviet temp roms wm5 roms themselves?
Cuz now im planning to flash back again with nvid, then to my original qtek s200 rom, then upgrade to wm6 again..

1. When I use HTC Album, and work fine... After that the cube don't work anymore.
So:
- I tryed the soft reset --- nothing.
- I tryed hard reset the cube work. When I HTC Album work and the cube not.

Does this ROM still has the problem of the missing email accounts after soft reset?
I was playing with a Artemis upgraded to WM6, and I can confirm that no accounts are lost on that model and ROM :( I don't know why this problem shows on Prophet. Is it something related with the hardware?

It's because I wish to install them separately and I cannot find them.

I tried to upgrade my QTek S200 from Prophet Touch VIII to IX but the update process never stop. After 1h I turned off my phone but when I turn it on i'm blocked after 2s at boot :

OS 9.0.0.0
I tried to downgrade to WM5 using the camera button to have the three colors screen but i've always the same problem (i tried a lot of step 1 roms and the Qtek one) : error [300] invalid update tool, you have to run a newer RUU version....
I'm scared:eek: :eek: :eek: !

i was opening the cab from xplode (the guy who posted the hacked version for HTC album that worked in our prophet). Looks like there are missing registry keys in TouchIX's HTC album as compared to the cab.

you may want to redo it. my suspect is the stage between step 1 and 2. Once the WM5 rom boot up and you get the "tap the screen" message, just leave it there and establish a guest Activesync connection with your pc. Now proceed to step2. I think the upgrade wiki is rather informative and complete.

Same as some of others, some functions could not work after flashed. Having tried for more ways, it has finally been solved. I just tried to use Prophet_PV_Temp to downgrade to WM5, despite of Fantastic b4 step1. Then go on install step II, I could able to operate P. Touch IX and those functions at last.

i have selected input method as keyboard(i prefer this) in settings. the word completion option has 'suggest words...' selected but stil i dont get any suggestions while typing while sending messages. does any one have the same issues. how can this be resolved.

You must downgrade to wm5 first. I also performed this update on an existing wm6 install and the autorun in extrom did not run. After downgrading to wm5 it worked.

I downgraded to WM5 first, worked fine for a few hours then I lost my apps from the extended rom. I tried hard resetting it, still no joy. I will try version X when it comes out, but in the meantime I will go back to VIII.

Hi folks

Since 3 weeks i'm heavily reding these posts and finaly last night i did it. I updated may S200. Better to say I tried

I did Step 1 as mentioned by Gullum ans all others. I installed Active Sync 4.5 before.
Everything went all right, but after automatic hardreset AS got no connection to my S200 :mad: . I didn't touch anything. Tried to reinstall AS 4.5 and AS 4.2. No effect. Finally I put the S200 in Bootloader mode (3color Screen) with same effect --- NOTHING.
I realised, that some months ago I had to use USB Swich on my S200 to get connected. But this is not an solution at this moment.
AS tells me its not connected, although it says USB is connected when I do the test. It doesn't get an IP bla blablabla.


Does anybody have an workaround? PLEASE!

Ca I use the S200 with Nanoscopic NV installed (by following the screen)?

I recommend doing it with PDAVIET_TEMP indeed. All my apps in extrom are working fine.

@holydiver: I had same issue too before, it had seemed that AS4.5 didnt had a connection with my phone (in bootloader mode), yet when i ran the pdaviet_temp again, flashprogram detected my phone just fine.
Just try to enter bootloader mode, THEN connect with USB, ur AS will still be grey like it isnt connected, wait some minutes and then try the PDAVIET_TEMP utility.

Some issues I had where indeed with the WiFi on/off too. At first it didnt seem that Wifi was being enabled/turned on, tried several times, did resets nothing. I went looking for settings in Settings menu, though i don't think i changed anything, but then after some tries again, I managed to turn WiFi on. Today same thing, but @ 2nd try it went on. So it almost never gets turned on at first try.

Secondly, right softbutton (Contacts) used to open pocketCM in the beginning. Since yesterday when i press Contacts (from the start menu too) it goes to my default contactlist and not pocketCM. I didnt change anything, it just isnt hooked to PocketCM anymore somehow. How can i enable it back?

Thirdly, the font sizes in writing text messages is just too big for the adressee name and what i type as sms. How can i change that?

Battery drainage seems less (better) now.

after testing your VIII and IX (beta 3) I'm flashing the latest release of IX, but looking for the Xth edition and that new way of using Prophet :)

By the way, I'm using Vista x32 and I´ve managed to put into to work the RUU but saddly something happens with your ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4! It crashes at the 4th step, when the prophet goes to bootload screen.

Therefore I only can downgrade with ROMUpdateUtility witch doesn´t recognize your step 1 nbf file, but works fine with the portuguese wm5 rom.

Hope it doesn't make any diference when upgraded...

Once more, and cause it's verver to much ... THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT JOB!

As far as I've been able to find out, this is caused by XT9 being enabled. I've disabled XT9 on my prophet which has successfully re-enabled word completion and also autocomplete when entering names in the To: field on messages. I've done this by changing the following registry entries and powering the device off and back on:

With XT9 Enabled I Had:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\eT9Ime.dll"
"Layout Text"="eT9 IME"

With XT9 Disabled I Now Have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="\windows\compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"

*The last 3 digits of the registry key (ie 409) may vary depending on the language code used.

I found this information on http://myg900.com/index.php?showtopic=199 which gives additional information on how to remove XT9 completely, albeit on a different device. I found just changing the registry entries above though disabled XT9 and makes it simple enough to re-enable at some point in the future. A side effect of disabling XT9 on my device also seems to be that both the 'Touch Keyboard' and 'Touch Keypad' have now become a full 40 key keyboard, albeit with no word completion.


Thirdly, the font sizes in writing text messages is just too big for the adressee name and what i type as sms. How can i change that?

Having looked through the registry I found that the following registry entry controls the font size used when entering new text messages:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox]
"RichEditHostFontSize"="10"

You can change the value to whatever you feel is appropriate. I think 10 is the same size as I had on my previous ROM.

You must downgrade to wm5 first. I also performed this update on an existing wm6 install and the autorun in extrom did not run. After downgrading to wm5 it worked.



I have this problem too. flashed 2 times the prophet but still have the same problem.

Flashed with pdaviet temp (wm5) only then with touch IX but no good.

Can somebody help?

first: YES, my S200 is still alive
Many thanks to Ruffie and Schaeferreiner. I did it this way:
disconnected S200, deinstalled AS, reboot PC, installed AS4.5, reboot PC, set S200 in bootloader and connected. => AS doesn't recognise S200.
tried to flash PDAViet -> great, it worked :)

BUT
after automatic hardreset no connection to PPC :mad:

Tried to install WM6 but the toll told me it can't copy files...


Here is what I figured out:
- after connect AS has two problems: "got no IP ..." and "could not establish connection..." (translated into english because I get german messages ;) )
- then I restarted the DHCP service => only the second message left
- my S200 even in networkplaces is recogniced and it tells me the LAN is connected! BUT the "vermalledeite" ActiveSync tells me its not! :eek:

And, very confusing, this is, what the AS Log says:

I did downgrade before and hard reset after, I used "Fantastic_b4_step1" to downgrade.
Some apps won't work asking me to reinstall, such as pocketrar and other utilities ... any suggestion ?
Sould i use another "step 1" downgrader ?

It's happened to me too. Previously if working fine until I had to do soft reset (due to hang offcourse!). Try to do hardreset... still same.
Now I did copy all prog for ext rom and put in SD card and create new shortcut. Otherwise I suggest you downgrade and reflash again.

I have installed this OS on my dopod 818 pro and when I go to press the button on the side(not camera button), the hour glass come on but no response, when I try to reset it some of the problems are not working any more such as Pcoket RAR, Registry editor, reset. What is that button for and why is it like this? a bug?

Thanks a lot for this rom, so far, no big issue but just two questions:
First one for HTC album, gestures to zoom and rotate are lost each time I close the program (need to go to the menu then ok).
Second question, with the new tf settings, I did not find a way to change the cube launching gesture. (Used old cab to access this)

I will try to re-flash tonight

I flashed over IX beta 1 and not WM5 NVID so i think it will be ok after reflashing

2nd pop-up in pda is "no Text files found". What means this? I can push ok buton and continues... This pop-up only displays the first time I try to do the step 2.

As far as I can tell there are two ways around this. Either enable XT9 support for the standard keyboard by changing the following registry value:

To Enable
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9]
"XT9SupportMSSip"=dword:00000001

To Disable
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9]
"XT9SupportMSSip"=dword:00000000

Unfortunately this will not re-enable autocomplete when entering names in the To: field on messages, although this may not be of interest to you.

The other option is to disable XT9 completely, although this does cause some problems with the 'Touch Keyboard' and 'Touch Keypad' input modes. See my previous post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1638138&postcount=127 for further details.

you may want to redo it. my suspect is the stage between step 1 and 2. Once the WM5 rom boot up and you get the "tap the screen" message, just leave it there and establish a guest Activesync connection with your pc. Now proceed to step2. I think the upgrade wiki is rather informative and complete.

i did everything mentioned in wiki.. ext rom is there after a frst flash.. but disappears after a soft reset..

I've had the same bug. Tried to hard reset, but no luck.
Taking the time to test other ROM's until someone solve this.

Yes you are right with these errors the prophet IX is not really usable.
I could not even wright a SMS anymore - Same problem with Beta3 already!
All my notes were not usable - I could even not input "a" thing manually by using the keypad!

I am asking me why the testers did not have the same problems?

Recommendation: Stay with Touch VIII works perfect!

Did you power cycle the device or do a soft reset after changing the registry settings?
May be worth double checking the registry settings are correct if you did a soft reset as I understand there can be a time delay before changes are saved.
Do you have 'Suggest words when entering text' enabled in 'Settings\Input\Word Completion'?

Not sure what else to suggest :confused:

i think this rom sucked big time.. the only thing this rom scores over others is for being fast..

1. extended rom fails

2. some ppl facing trouble with wifi.

3. Buggy HTC album.

4. gestures not working.

5. keyboard autocomplete fails.

6. sms contact problems.

7. xt9 has to be fixed with registry keys.

8. WMP codecs not initialized.


trust me i nvr seen so many bugs in a rom that has been declared as final version after three beta releases.

did you downgrade using the PDAVIET step 1 or pdamobiz? cause the first time i flashed it using pdamobiz, the extended rom didn't work at all just like you're saying. However, i re-flashed it using the PDAVIET and it worked.

I used Prophet_PV_Temp.zip for my step 1 process. and have lost the extended rom subsequent to a soft reset.

What is interesting is that I lost it after about the third or fourth reset, not the first, the first couple were soft resets requested by software I installed SPB stuff.

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but it's still properly working. I think you should go ahead with reflashing using the PDAViet step 1. Remember to wait until it fully finishes loading and don't tap on the screen after it finishes (when you get the Tap on the screen mesage), launch directly the upgrade rom.bat file and wait till it finishes and then do the hard reset. Wish you luck mate.

How to Install:

1-Run Step 1 “ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4” (in the case of your mobile be a G3, you run the app that ends in G3)
2-Don’t touch anything
3-The PPC will turn on, and wait until the screen “Tap the screen to set up your windows mobile…”
4-Run Step 2 “Up-grade ROM”
5-After pressing any key, do nothing in your PC or PPC, until appears “Congratulations”, “Press any key” in the PC, press any key
6-Hard Reset (Camera + Wi-fi + Soft reset)

For me worked fine, except for de windows media player, that don't play *.wmv files?????

If you have problems with synching with Active sync or contact that wan't open, or Extra Rom files tha are not assigned, You need to do another hard reset, because you probably didn't do it at the end of flashing

Hello there,

I have been trying all the Gullum ROMs since the beginning. All of them has been improved in each version including great performance and applications.

But I always have the same problem with the Bluetooth connection with my car handsfree (it neither happens with other ROMs version nor WM5 roms):

I pair the device with the handsfree and after 10 seconds I loose the connection and the Prophet bluetooth collapses. Then I need to make a soft reset in the device in order to re-activate the Bluetooth.

If I make a call during this 10 seconds everything works properly. But after hang up, I wait 10 seconds and again the same problem.

It doesn´t happen with any other handsfree (ear handsfree) and just with my car one.

Any idea of what can i do?

I found that after installing software and resetting, etc. I tried to open one of the applications stored in the Extended ROM. The device froze up and it took me a while to realise what was going on. When I went into \Extended_ROM with Total Commander I saw most of the Files in the extended ROM and then obviously damaged files like ppc_ado~ etc. I copied the ExtROM folder from the ROM download folder onto my storage card with ActiveSync. I tried to copy the files across into \Extended_ROM but this simply didn't work and lead to more problems so I simply edited the shortcuts in the start menu, etc, pointing them to \Storage Card\ExtROM and hey presto. N.B. It's worth installing Adobe Reader anyway to get the HKCR reg settings. I could have set them manually but it's such a pain to do it that way.
Finally, I tested the cube and it still worked, just without any transition animation. I'm guessing that if you could redirect the cube to use brn files in \Storage Card\ExtROM then you'd have sorted that as well.
About the ActiveSync over BT issue. Really odd. Every time I tried to pair my newly flashed Prophet with the computer the BT dongle went bonkers, and I got an "Unrecognised USB device" message. I was able to fix this by removing the dongle and putting it back in again. After this, I couldn't seem to get the phone to recognise the "ActiveSync" profile offered by the PC, just "Serial Port". I'm pretty sure that if I could get the BT dongle to work properly then it might be successful. Has anybody installed an alternative BT stack such as the one attached? I'm thinking about that as a likely solution.

I had the same problem with the cube activation. It was somehow disable after a few hours poking around with the device. Soft reset did not came back and not planning for a hard reset, I tried some other utilities within.

Then it came to me that the cube activation somehow had went to the bottom right part of the touch screen. I recalled seeing a thread in xda-developers about changing the activation method. I think I'll do a search of it and link it from here later.

Thanks Gullum for the ROM again. It's a work well done ! Really appreciate your hard work put onto these releases.


Edit: Here's the link back to Touch V6 on a cab to reset back my cube activation. It's called activate_cube2.CAB by gullum himself !

As in the image below I've got two battery indicators in my toolbar after i enabled the option to show time in all pgms. The extra battery indicator doesn't get removed even after i disabled the show time option.

Welll i have the same problems mentioned over this thread
-Camera album not able to adress the folder of my choice
-Camera album, gestures only work only after i press i button
-Battery drains 50% faster than touchVII which i had installed till now
-Many progs (superbright, pdf viewer and other) are not functioning
-Many times pressing end button during a call won't do anything

I am not complaining just want to report bugs so as the developers impove the version.

i agree,but i think it will be good to report real bugs,not bugs caused by not making hard reset after flashing,problems with sd card and etc. and etc. most of people here just can't read the manual before doing anything.

A very good sum up of the problems we are experiencing with the rom, and before anyone says I never hard reset I DID, and I can read/understand the english language.

I also did reflash the device with pdaviet as step 1, and still the extended rom disapears, after doing soft resets later on.

I can confirm all the above problems except for number 2, my wifi is working perfectly.

What is the problem of the Extended Rom dissapearing? Do you need it? It runs some programmes from it?

I used the Beta 3 version, and of all roms on this forum, the Beta 3 was most stable and fastest. So now I will be flashing this one.

Little registrytweaking left and right, and I don't install HIS extended rom ;) Just reset before installing. I only take pocketCM there. For the rest, all works just fine...

To clarify..

Boot up Your Prophet, it will show you a number of things in red text.
Example:

IPL: 2.09.000
SPL: 2.20.000
GSM: 02.47.21
OS: 2.20.7.34

So, if
IPL/SPL: ending in .000 = G3 model
IPL/SPL: ending in .0001 = G4 model

I changed the today them...it had black fonts-heavy to read. when you go to download section, you can download the new with white fonts.
The bugs in the list can also depend in a defect download. I had it with another rom before. But Beta 3 and 1 are running better than the last release, also for me.

yes the rusian xt9 file was missing when I made the rom
I now have all the files for many east european and all scandinavian languages and I will add the nesasary regs to Prophet Touch X and make cabs for all languages so you will only need to add the language that you use to the rom:)

But there's a small Bug (?):

I've installed "TrayLauncher" (PHM Tools) and want it to start in autostart-mode. When the Prophet has loaded, there's a error:

"The file 'TrayLnch' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one if its components cannot be found."

If I start "TrayLancher" manually, it starts without problems...

Any workaround? :(

After flashing Prophet Touch IX onto my O2 xda neo (G4) following the guide (step1 (fantastic wm5), step2, hard reset), I inserted my SIM and storage cards.

Directly afterwards I sent a SMS and phoned my friend, all fine.
However, thereupon I soft-reseted my prophet, and call history and SMS are gone.

After each soft reset my prophet looses new PIM data and clock settings.

Any idea?

But I have problem about reading Ebook at night coz the lowest level of Backlight settings is still too bright in dark room on the bed.
I'd like to know if it possible to customize Backlight setting to have more than the current 5 levels (like other pda model which can adjust Backlight to 10 or smoother level). Is it possible to customize Backlight by cooking roms.

thanks for this gret rom, so far it is very stable however, i have a problem: when i reset the device in portrait mode, in the start up process, it changes to landscape mode, no mather what mode (landscape or portrait ) i use to begin the reset process.

could you please tell me how can o correct it?

Refer to suggestion from thread #154 (page 16). I cut-paste it below. It work but you default contact of PocketCM will change to original Contact:

I just experienced the extrom apps vanishing after a soft reset. Had it running for 2 days.

PS: I flashed with PDAVIET step 1 and did a PROPER hardreset.
