That is what I did..hold both sofekeys and insert styles to soft reset the device.. I can never hard reset the device...

just keep them both buttons pressed
insert styles in rest hole and remove it without unpressing the soft keys untill the screen changes.

Anyone else having problems running Skype? It just wont log in, and says theres a problem with the connection. I've trid both HSPDA connection and Wireless, but nothing. It has worked on every version of ROM before this new ..1978.
Can someone else try this and let me know your results???

UPDATE: Sorry guys, it turns out that Skype released Version: 2.2.0.37 on the 7 November 2007, and after updating to this version, it works like a charm :)
Thats me now 100% up and running on this lightning fast ROM, and so far I don't have any issues whatsoever.

-like many, long hold on end key just locks phone instead of brining up menu.

Ahhh....i finally finish reading all 51 pages and i must say it's a lot of info. I'm downloading the full ROM as i type this. I have a couple of questions.

If assuming that after i test the ROM and i don't like it (very unlikely with what i've been reading), can i just reflash back to the original factory ROM? Is anyone else having trouble with ActiveSync? I can not for the life of me get this ROM to sync with my Exchange 2007 server. The stock AT&T ROM is able to sync just fine. I would like to get this problem resolved because this ROM is so much faster than the stock ROM.

It seems that the last ROM is a little bit slower than the previous one
and some time it freezes when I go to programs or when I want to add shortcuts in the launcher of today.

afterward, you're free to play around with any ROM you wish ... and it needs to be done only once.

another thing regarding ROM flashing ...

when flashing a new ROM...After flashing a new ROM, before start up, hard reset your device straight after a flash.

I'm on the ROM directly previous to the current posted version (RTM 3 I think, downloaded 11/8), and I'm experiencing the exact same thing. It happens randomly on any screen though, like a temporary 5-10 second hang, then it's fine.

I think i am gonna reflash to a stock rom and install tomtom and then copy the Navigator folder from main memory to storage card. then reinstall dutty's rom and it should work like that. gonna try that later tonight. hopefully it works and fixes the stupid problem i have with 6.30 tomtom version where it doesn't give proper speaking directions and stops midway.

Damn maybe its cause i have the TILT branded version which seems to have more problems then the regular Kaiser. Or you are installing the NLD version which i can install without any issues. its the wwe thats giving the Rom upgrade error. It says please upgrade your rom before installing.

its so strange I have install the same tomtom which came on the stock kaiser cd without any issues whatsoever. i dont get it sometimes with roms. It works for others and not for some very strange.:confused:

Well...i did my homework but now i'm facing a problem. I don't seem to be able to get the Calender & Contact Synced. It tries to sync for awhile then it just stops without any errors and there is not "X" stating that it did not sync correctly. Notes went in well.

Anybody else had this problem?

Thanx for the link but i'm not using exchange server. I hard reset my 838 Pro to try and sync to test if i could get a full sync....it just won't work too. So i figure it's got to be either Mobile Center or Outlook 2007 giving me the problem....just finish removing both and installing it again to find out the problem :mad:


Update: True enough. It was a problem with either Mobile Center or Outlook 2007. I removed both and reinstall it again and now all is well :) The ROM....fast and stable so far....thanx Dutty.

I have an application that needs this installed to run. Tried to install .net 2.0 cf but got an error message that it was already installed in ROM. I am using Dutty's V3 final rom on a Tilt. Error is:
.NET CF Initialization error
The application failed to load required components. If the .NET Compact Framework is installed on a storage card, please ensure that the card is in place and launch the application again. If this fails, a re-installation of the .NET Compact Framework is recommended. Support info: -2147483643 (800000005)

So far the Lite ROM is just perfect. WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, all the apps worked perfect. I love the apps that came with it and the extra 25 Megs of free space are pretty awesome. If anyone is hesitating on using Duttys ROMs shake off the worries. My TyTN II is better now than ever. Ive only had 1 glitch and I'm sure it wasn't related to the custom ROM. My inbox file on the card got corrupted and I couldn't open the messaging or the text applications. I deleted the inbox file on the card, which is only used for storing attachments and then I was back to normal. The messaging application opens fine now. Great work Dutty! Im loving my bloat free ROM!

This is weird. I have flashed to AT&T Tilt orignal rom, dopod asia rom and also the kaiser rom and i got the same error on all for the HTC wwe version of tomtom stating that i need to upgrade the rom to right version. Seems like this version of tomtom maybe is looking for some special signature from the hardware and it returns tilt instead of kaiser. i don't know. i know it sucks and its NOT your rom thats the problem at least for me.
By any chance can you post the version you are using ??.

Like in any case, i would normally type "Max" & auto complete would show me names that starts with "Max" which could be "Max", "Maxis" or "Maxthon". Currently it does not and i would have to go tap on "To" which will then bring me into the contact list where i will then search for the contact i want.

I've just flashed 4 and I don't have this problem. So it must be broken by something that's being installed (which I've seen in the past). I'd say reflash with version 4, and see what happens.

I agree WKTask is pretty nice. It looks way better than majicbutton. I hated to loose the great battery indicator with majicbutton, but I found a good battery status replacement http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-batti-v2-0.html

P.S. On day 2 with The dutty rom and I cant find a slowdown or glitch in any app.

Thanx. Did not have to reflash it. Found out that the problem was due to HTC TOUCH KeyBoard. It for some reason disable the auto complete thing.

Now in SMS it works but i'm still having the same problem in MMS. Can somebody confirm if it's like that for this ROM or could another program be messing with my MMS auto complete.

Welcome to the club....I would suggest installing KaiserTweak to help solve some of the problem. Since installing that I have noticed an increase in battery life. I believe that new ROM's will help solve the issue with rapid battery loss.

I believe the KaiserTweak is now a sticky so it should be easy to find. Almost make sure that you turn off your phone after performing the tweak and don't simply soft reset.

Nope, welcome to the sad rapid drain club! Quite a number of people are experiencing this. There has been a few 'solutions' banded about eg turn off HSPDA but quite hoenstly none of these seem to have worked for me. I'm still waiting...

Two things that make a huge impact for me. Force the phone to GSM/EDGE mode in the Band Selection screen, and turn off bluetooth.

Bluetooth was also a major battery drain on my Blackjack.

I charge my Tilt via USB while at work, and have a nifty proclip in my car to keep it topped off in my car.

I wouldn't expect any kind of device like this to have particularly good battery life, at least if you want your 3G data and bluetooth.

Just tried SmartGear 3.0 beta on this new rom. It seems that the aweful clicking and popping sounds the emulator was making on the kiaser are greatly reduced while using the rom.

After having flashed my prior (TyTN I) several times with good success and enjoying the benefits, I've held off doing the same on my AT&T Tilt. I've just read through all 12 pages of posts related to the great progress Dutty has made with his ROM, now in a 4th release. I think I'm now ready to pull the trigger and dump the factory ROM on my Tilt. I'd appreciate some input from those of you that have tested Dutty's ROM on the Tilt along with apps from WebIS Solutions (Pocket Informant, FlexMail) and Spb Software House (Diary, Shell, Pocket Plus, etc.). These are key apps that I use on top of the default apps.

Also, I have had problems with my Tilt and pairing with my '07 Infiniti. These are problems I did not have with my TyTN I and the same car. I'm hoping these issues will be resolved by a different bluetooth stack. Is the stack in this build different then that released by AT&T in the Tilt factory build?

I think I'm now ready to pull the trigger and dump the factory ROM on my Tilt. I'd appreciate some input from those of you that have tested Dutty's ROM on the Tilt along with apps from WebIS Solutions (Pocket Informant, FlexMail) and Spb Software House (Diary, Shell, Pocket Plus, etc.). These are key apps that I use on top of the default apps.

Also, I have had problems with my Tilt and pairing with my '07 Infiniti. These are problems I did not have with my TyTN I and the same car. I'm hoping these issues will be resolved by a different bluetooth stack. Is the stack in this build different then that released by AT&T in the Tilt factory build?

This rom works good on the tilt as long as you install the tilt kb fix. Do NOT install the touch keyboard addon cab located on the first page. Doing so will disable the autocomplete for the To field in sms message creation. MMS autocomplete still does not work for me.

Im using pocketplus 4 and wisadv 3 along with the rom and all works great.

Another problem is with the HTC Album app. The one included with the rom has a small glitch. When you view a pic then zoom out to view all your pics and then zoom in on another pic, it will show the previous pic. if you click right or left to view next pic, its fine.

I did install HTC album cab that included both the panorama and landscape views and the glitch is gone for the 2. I do however have all three installed. Ill have to manually uninstall the glitched version somehow.

Dutty, in your next release can you use this cab for the album? It installs both panoramic and landscape modes.

First of, you have done really good work with all of these cabs and roms you are making available!!

Is there any major advantage to putting an app in ROM as opposed to the storage card? Does an app execute directly from ROM thus saving actual RAM? Is it as fast or faster?

A suggestion to anyone building software for WM5-6 - On the dialing screen, when a person is selected to call and they have more than one number, that info should display large enough to thumb select a different calling number or text msg..

A couple others:

Before I update to your ROM, I loaded some of the HTC apps - specifically the Album and contact list - both of which seemed to work better than the ones on the ROM. This might be because I cannot figure out how to get into any settings but they seems to be different and not as good.

Also, are there more powerful Radio versions available for this phone, I have seen where on the Hermes the Euro version of the radio was much better?

OK here what I figured out :

When you put advanced configuring tools in the slide down menu it dissapears from the field programs==>accessories
Now I 've removed all the program and it has this 25 seconds of responds
that's it

I agree, I have experienced this "freeze" phenomenon as well. Basically, the device stops responding for ~ 25 seconds or so when you try to access the "Accessories" folder under "Programs"

OK, like a few other people have mentioned, after firing up Dutty's ROM no. 4, I can no longer hard reset the phone. I've looked around and can't find the answer.

Pushing and holding the soft reset keys and then using the stylus just soft resets the phone, so:

1) Does that clear memory trick mentioned earlier in the thread actually hard reset the phone, or is that just a sorta workaround?

2) Does anyone have any suggestions for how to actually hard reset?

I haven't had any of the problems mentioned in this thread, none. Just that not being able to hard reset is a bit disconcerting...

I'm something of a newbie when it comes to the ROM thing, so bear with me. I started out with an off-the-shelf Tilt. Then I hard reset/soft reset it to get rid of the AT&T customizations. After that, I flashed this ROM onto the thing. Specifically,

It seems to me as though my cell phone reception has gotten worse since putting this ROM on. My Tilt is currently showing radio version (accoding to Settings | System | Device information): 1.27.12.11. So, my question.. does this ROM even affect the radio? Does that 12.11 number just mean that's what was on my Tilt when it shipped from the factory?

First and foremost, I need my phone to work well as a phone, and I'm just wondering if this ROM has anything to do with my recent perceived reduction in reception quality.


Unrelated question.. how do you guys save settings from ROM flash to ROM flash? I'm losing all of my config (other than what ActiveSync saves (contacts/calendar/notes)) each time, and I could see that getting annoying. Someone mentioned ppcpimbackup, but that hangs on my Tilt, and I no longer have Sprite (assuming that would do what I wanted) since flashing this ROM.

Steps to reproduce:
Soft restart phone, enter security pin, enter GSM pin, wait till phone freezes between "no service" and "roaming service" message.

Workaround:

Soft restart phone, enter security pin, cancel GSM pin, wait till everythink is loaded, issue GSM pin.

Thanks, goriperil. I wasn't sure until I saw your reponse, but by then I'd installed Sleuth's instead as I knew that didn't affect the radio. I've now got the phone set up with apps/data and am pretty happy with it - have you compared these two ROMs by any chance? I am happy to try Dutty's if it's faster for instance, but I'd rather not have to spend another day reconfiguring my apps and stuff unless it's really worth it :)

I've using this Hybrid Rom for a few days now, but this morning I noticed that my phone skin changed from the default skin included in Dutty's Hybrid (is it the Touch skin?) to what looks like the standard WM6 skin. How do I get Dutty's skin back! I'm not a fan of the buttony looking WM skin.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, also, what are the basic difference between the Hybrid ROMs and the v3 Touch ROMS? And are they both for the Kaiser?

Seriously people...READ THE POSTS....this is not Dutty's new ROM. It is a very old ROM that people are confusing with his latest V4. Check the original post date. I doubt that he will provide any further support for users of this one. Just wait a few more days until he releases the latest version and all will be good.

Love duttys roms, currently using this one but I have no audio whatsoever and the camera doesn't work. According to other posts this is because of an incompatible radio ROM. I currently have 1.65.16.25 in my originally orange TyTN II.

Can someone point me in the direction of a radio that will work? I have hardSPL'd already.

I love this rom, i think it was his best one.

your radio is wm6.1 compatable. you need to use a wm6 radio.

This rom is REALLY old. Dutty has many newer ones. Search around.

I'm using an old one to give me compatability with an exchange server, which will not synchronise properly with a 6.1 ROM.
