My prefence goes to Vanilla ROMs and install some functions and apps through cabs afterwords or ExtROM.

SDAutoRun 2 (All credits goes to Sleuth255) Untested
User Customization is a config.txt file that's located on an SD card which can install cab & xml files located there too! Think about it: this gives anyone who loads your rom the ability to automatically install their preferred apps/settings as part of customization. Here's how to make your next ROM UC compliant:
Cook the attached SDAutoRun.exe into \windows
Replace the "RST: Reset" line in config.txt with "EXEC: \windows\SDAutoRun.exe"

The non vanilla ROMs already have some, most or even all os this functions.

I don't know what cabs would work in Universal, but at least the QVGA themes and dialpads will look pixelized in our VGA Uni.

I use QuickMenu 2.7 - this replaces the StartMenu, displays running tasks, enables close button to become that and more. Only a 22k footprint.

I've given this application a try on my Exec for one entire day, but I've experienced general freezes with it. Right after removing it and soft resetting, my device, everything is back to normal again. Just my 2 cents...

This app even work in true VGA mode 128dpi!
I didn't tested 96dpi mode but it also should work.

Ok, I've installed it and I've seen it's just the cube function running through Adobe's Flashplayere Lite. I had made that question because I thought it included the HTC Touch Today plugin as well, which never showed icons as it was supposed to at 192dpi. Well, I don't think we'll have such plugin properly redrawn for our VGA screen (running at 192dpi, of course) any time soon...

There must be something else missing here. After copying all the files to my Exec, Streaming Media app simply refuses to run. A popup message comes in stating that the skin bitmaps are missing...

Anyone else has detected such issue? It it cannot be corrected, could somebody here post the previous streamingplayer.xml file?

Yes it works, I have a SPV M5000 with car kit routed via raidio speakers, and it works. Not automatic but change manualy.

I don't use it for so long that I just can't remember, but my impression is A2DP doesn't work with this stack but you can connect to your PAN.

Personally I prefer not to install this cab with the most recent ROMs.

NEW!! Performance (with WatchDog Auto Reboot) (Overclocking)



Check The Box in "PERFORMANCE" App. that says:


"USE WATCHDOG (AUTO REBOOT ON OS HANG)"



Install:


Place in Windows Folder with all other programs/Windows File.


OS Will Automaticly reboot itself if the OS white screens or freezes
due to 624 mhz overclocking. Instead of being stuck and mad.

I usually make a shortcut with Resco Explorer to Programs.
This can't be an alternative solution for your problem?

The performance is just a .exe file and shouldn't make any change in the registry.

FYI i ran the REAL VGA dpi changer last night and it shrank the viewable area of my screen on my Atom, I now have black edge all around the screen now framing it, tried changing between the 2 (96/128) with no results and then reflashed the whole ROM and its still shrunken with the "Black Frame" now. Its irritating me so much I may have get another phone now... :(

Well, I might be heavily wrong, but I always thought the Real VGA application was meant to be installed on VGA capable machines only, such as the HTC Universal. The Atom is a qVGA device (i.e. 320x240 dpi), isn't it? Please, discard this post (and I apologize for posting such a stupidity) if either the Atom is VGA instead, or the Real VGA application can be installed on qVGA machines as well.

Just a thought...

PS: Unfortunately it has some low memory problems if you run it in a 64Mb RAM Universal.

It runs over WM5/6.

The zip as a readme, but I also leave the install instructions here:
1. Download PocketConsole (link)
2. Download VGA_KEY and install it.
3. Download Bochsrc.txt and copy it to "/" (I also edited it to write "Storage Card" instead of "SD Card")
4. Download Bochs 2.3.5 unpack and copy it to "/Storage Card/Bochs"
5. Download Windows 95 image (nekifajlovi.tgz), extract and copy win95.img to "/Storage Card/Bochs/"
6. Download and install Nydot Virtual Display(at least v 5,02) and set it on 640x480 Landscape
7. Program one of your Hardware buttons to show you input menu(the VGA Keyboard) when pressed
8. Open explorer. and go to /Storage Card/Bochs/
9. Run bochs.exe file
10. Press 6 and Enter
11. Turn on your VGA KEYBOARD and press FN two times. Then "F" buttons will show. Press F12 and then F5 (Mouse enable and fullscreen)
12. Windows 95 will now boot. (If it show some M$ error just press enter)

yes it is your card type and size, a very small number of cards display this issue, you need original wm5 drivers, or wm6 pre aku5 drivers, these will work flawlessly with your card.

Beast0898, I've got KINGSTON 2GB, normal (not via adapter or HC card, just SD/2GB) but having the same problem - card keeps on dissappearing.... 5-7 minutes, then no card. Although when use the device (listen musci, alike, which obviously uses card) it does not dissappear. Anyone can help please?

DF problem is Dark Force camera problem. In that ROM they had a old camer built and this exe substitutes it and corrects that problem.

Opera is perfect for browsing, website are corectly displayed...

However, there are several problems:

- Opera doesn't respect the cache limit and eats all main flash memeory.
- Opera change default browser without ask user
- After browsing when I stop wifi, my Uni freeze... I must do soft reset.

But it is the better web browser seen at this moment, stable during the web browsing and fullscreen landscape is perfect on VGA screen...

I read on the 1. page that installing the Broadcomm stack is irreversible if I install it. What does dhis mean? I can't return to the original stack even if I hard reset my device / reflash it?

No, you cannot uninstall it. But you allways can hard reset :)

yep, with hard reset the rom will be complete reseted. all programs installed after flash will be lost. same to data, contacts, etc.

Better if you go to the original thread: "Universal Broadcomm Stack (Test) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291639)"

You can uninstall it, if you follow the instructions, without a hard-reset :cool:. And you can read further information from the 'porter' helmi_c (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=244941) - like those who've tried it.

:( It would be more useful if these cab links (on #1) also had a little information - or better still where they originated from, like a thread link (how about it teixeirabmb and all posters?)

In fact that is a good idea but not an original one. I could do that, but the main problem is the topic is already too long and adding several links would make it longer. :(

On the other hand, we can put the links on the topic as replies when the cabs are added, making the information available keeping the first page topic clean and short.

I recall the last time (a long time ago) I installed the Broadcomm stack on my Uni: I lost the full functionality of my BT headsets. They were unable to either start voice calling or answer incoming calls. I.e. this stack simply rederered my BT headsets pretty useless. I wonder if the HFP flaws have really been fixed...

I tried 3 ROMs with RAMDISK, without problems. With Ranju latest ROM it didn´t work but it didn't need any Hardreset or ROM reinstall.

Anyway, try to put you uni in bootloader and install new or your current ROM as WIKI instructions.

At least we have some tool, rather than nothing at all. If the thief is stupid enough, we might catch him. I dont think that the theif would immediately flash with a new rom when he stole the phone, he probably use it for awhile then only sell it to some shops.

Here is Remote Desktop client version 6.0. (http://sharebee.com/d4e38b0e) This is the official Microsoft client that comes with WM6, but it has been tested working on WM5, albeit with a few minor bugs.

Here is the most recent version of Remote Desktop, 6.1. (http://sharebee.com/7971a753) This has NOT been tested on anything other than WM 6.1, but it may well work on WM5 given that RDP6.0 (above) does.

Note: Sharebee spreads the file to Rapidshare, Badongo, MegaUpload and ZShare, so you can choose to download from any of those sites.

But when I try to run the program a popup window appear saying that:
" The file 'StreamingPlayer' cannot be opened.Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file".

hi all, is there a CAB for registry editor? been looking for a while to install some registries for my programs.. any help appreciated :)

Most of the newer ROM´s include a reg editor
If yours does not have, do a search for PHP registry editor
Or upgrade your ROM:D Tomal ones are just great!

Total Commander (www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm)) and TaskMgr (http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm) are, IMHO, superb applications, which include, among many features, also registry editors.

Just my 2 cents...

hi, How do I know performance.exe is running? I already click enable but I didn't find performance.exe is running from my task manager V3.1. Thank you!!
