Hello,

Well, Here is a special edition of Crystal roms :)
I called this edition Personal Edition because it's my own personal rom. I made it the way I like it. There were no beta for this release and there will be no further support for this Rom (not from me, busy studying) If you liked Crystal V3 speed, you will love this one .


Is it bug free ?! hell I don't know ! maybe it works for you the same way it works on my prophet , maybe it wont. Try it yourself . I had no problem with it in past 2 weeks .

If you didn't like HTC action Screen or even Home plugin , you can remove it from Crystal4\ExtROM folder . you also have to edit the Config.txt

Well , It's better than Crystal V3. At least on my phone . so try it yourself.:) Sorry digifan as i said this is my personal rom. so it doesn't support chinese region. I can change the wince.nls but then i wont know if it's stable anymore.

Yes , I'm getting Kaiser too ! :D I will have it in a week. sorry to disappoint you.

I have tried crystal V4.. it 's fast and rock.. but i prefer to gullum touch IX. So I flash back to Gullum's ROM
Hopefully he want to cook for us Touch X , before he 's going to retire.

HMA4, I Love Crystal 3 and now Crystal 4. Only thing I miss in 4 is the batterylevel at the top of the screen. I found the cab file in V3 and installed it, but when I try to restart to activate it I get a message that it can't be loaded because it is not from a trusted source or files are missing. Any ideas?

yes, you can install other languages ofcourse ! :) Search for the cabs here in xda, I'm sure you can find it .. If i were you i would find a cab , edit it with wince cab manager, to get rid of all other languages that you don't need, then put it in ExtRom folder ;) I'm sure you can do it.

I like this, looks a bit brighter than all the black roms out now.

I have a problem with it and I can't seem to fix it. The lock function and lock settings in the buttons setting tab don't seem to do anything. If I lock the device, all the buttons still work. This isn't very handy when it's in your pocket. I like it set so that only the power button will turn it on but this setting doesn't work either.

Another problem is if I soft-reset then it puts it into flight mode every time and I have to manually turn everything on again.

Finally, can the HTC keyboard stuff be made optional - its sooo slow and I much prefer the phonepad they do.

Any comments welcome, thanks again for the great rom.

yes , before you flash the rom , beside the Upgrade_ROM.bat there is folder : ExtROM just go inside it , delete the cab's and files you don't want then edit config.txt , delete the name of those cabs and then flash it ! very simple.

I don't know what you are talking about ! on my device only power button turn the device on ! :) I could put the keyboard and other stuff somewhere else , but hey I said this is my personal edition, that's How i have it here on my phone :) you still can get rid of some htc stuff by editing the extended rom as i described above.

what about poolsize? wich size changer do i use for this rom, cuz i want to change to 4mb. had the experience that i can't freely choose page pool customizer from special the roms?! e.g. i had problems with installing apps when i didn't use the pp-tool from the same thread from where i've got the rom.

but i found out which pp changer to use. os ver is 6.0.0.225 (or s.th.) and i was just afraid to mess something up with that pp changer for 6.0.0.0 in chopins attachment ... :)

this rom is amazing! i removed htc home an action button from ext_rom, installed all my fav apps and still have 29mb rom and 30mb ram free!!!! and i think with 4mb pp its fast enough :) well done hma4! this is truely the greatest work which could be done in prophet wm6 roms! no bugs so far, stable and fast like no other rom! good work

I try install other dialpad skin but smartdialing not work.I found some topic suggest to disable wm6 dialpad by change HKLM>Security>Phone>Skin>Enabled=0. I tried but not work.

NO, you do not need any of these two files. You can check your battery consumption if you install batteryStatus , here is the link for it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751

do not install Camera 4.11. if you have already installed it, then perform a hard reset .
check your battery consumption it should be some where around 80 to 90 mAh when backlight setting is in the middle and bluetooth/wifi are off.
if it's more than that, then you've installed a program that mess around with system power management.

once again you don't need any patch of any sort for this rom.

The newest Version will start ... just not from the Music plugin.
Says "HTC ATC DLL" missing though.

I only get to work an old version from June.

Any suggestions appreciated.

for keyboard to work , you have to play around with keyboard regs, send the cab here i will look at it if i had time.

about the audiomanager, well the old version has to work , i haven't tried it myself..
upload the new audiomanager too , i will look at that one too when i had time ! :)

I haven't installed camer 4.11 I tried a hard reset and after thi I only installed Batterystatus plugin.
The powerdrain is always over 120mA (BT off, WiFi off, I also tried phoneoff from the systray).
What ca I do...I need to charge my phone again every 10-12 hours or a little more

120 ?!!!! it's very weird !!! I can't help further, if i were you i would reflash this rom, and if still I had this problem, i would try other roms. This rom has the most compatible battery driver out there, also it has all the necessary reg settings for low battery consumption. try to re flash, see if it helps.

Don't listen to that bad opinion, people don't understand that that is your personnal Edition, so you've removed what isn't used, that totaly normal.
A majority of person don't say how it is difficult to cook a ROM and say what they have aproximatly understand in different post without regarding the build of the OS, programs included etc...
So, your ROM is fantastic and people don't understand that is many hour of work to obtain a stable and fast ROM like your's.
For me : noting to reproch to your ROM, once customized in French :D so I'm not able to test v4 for the moment :( It make me sad

I guess kamalneet's "intact" is a misused word refering to the comparation between rich and clean versions^^" (English is absolutely tricky for many non-native speakers, though I don't know where kamalneet comes from)

both Prophet Touch's richness and Crystal's refinedness are great! (personally i prefer the latter anyway)

FYI: I know you more of less understand Chinese. Too many translations for the single word "intact", to mention just a few:
1. 完整的
2. 未受損的
3. 原封不動的

The only reason that I don't cook many applications with my roms is that , I leave the choice of choosing the best application to users. for me installing different applications via cabs is freedom. I believe anybody can make a cab ( using WinCe cab manager it's as easy as making a rar file) so for example if somebody didn't like the homeplugin images, all those images are in a cab which can be modified easily.
Now I know that you didn't have any bad intentions, and I'm not mad anymore. I hope we can end this topic and move on to a topic related to this rom.

I spend sometime trying to figure out why the new audiomanager doesn't work properly, but i think I have to spend a little more time on it. meanwhile I will post a good cab on the second post for audiomanager.
You can put this cab in to ExtRom folder , edit config.txt and then every time you hard reset, you will have the audioManager.

to those people that liked this rom , I'm happy that you liked it, it makes me happy when i see that people are enjoying this rom :) I enjoyed cooking it, I hope everybody enjoy using it ..

One of the most advantages of Crystal 4 is still wait for all users to discover....
redircting all graphics to HTCHome, in addition to small in size, is really nice! no matter how many times i overwrite them, the speed remains stunningly fast!

It happend to me 1 time that exact error (missing init_tray, no contact manager,...), I had forgoten to hard rest the phone...

Init_tray is in the windows\statup folder and it belongs to the wm5...

on 2 days with your ROM ,speaker phone does not get ON and on calling the other phone can't hear my side and neither could i hear the other side ,same thing if he calls in. only thing i installed on it was bluetooth active sync patch.no sound in wmplayer or audio manager but there is sound on headset.did a hard reset it got okay.sometimes when i reboot it don't detects operator signal at all. anyone faced same problem.

I'm convinced that you didn't. There is a lot of misunderstanding about the difference between a Reset and a Hard Reset. The easiest way for you to perform a HR is: Settings=>System=>Clear Storage=>1234+YES

If I'm wrong and this doesn't bring you a solution, then I advice you to re-flash, first Step1 and then Step2. Nobody else suffers from this problem, so you have to find the cause at your end of the exercise....

Hi There,

To hard reset using 2 button + pin hole,

Press the camera button + Comm Manager button then press the reset button (near to charger port) using the stylus, when the display say something, press the phone button (green button) then release the camera button + comm manager button.

The display will says .... FAT formating ( something like that)

Of course hma4, i just open the installation file from you and directly change to my registry without installing the cab file (it is already too many cab files installation in My prophet so i decide to change manually).

Honestly, your Cooked ROM is the best to my requirement so i decide to keep it running in my prophet and no problem so far including GSM roaming to another country (recently i went to Filipina).

Tried the Bluetooth, WIfi, GPRS, Edge, IrDA.. all the connectivity is having no problem.

From graphical point of view, it runs faster if compare with original WM5 ROm.

Memory mapping is better than earlier ROM, i open the messages then make some new messages in a flash.

but .... ( always have but ... :D ) can you inform me how to change the touch keyboard/keypad colour inside it. I don;t like with the black colour. if you have time, can you make the blue or green one for the keyboard and keypad ?
Crystal V4 is colourfull, so why do not redesign the keyboard and keypad touch in colourfull one :D (anyway it is not too important but if we have is better)

I will release an update version for Crystal V4 in a week or so and fix some of these minor issues :)

about the battery drain , no this version doesn't cause any battery drain. the newer versions that actually use the Touch driver for camera cause the battery drain (Version 4.11).

well I don't have time to make a keyboard skin but it would be great if somebody else make one .If somebody make the blue skin (Same Hue as Crystal V4 blue) I will cook it inside the CrystalV4 upgrade.
all those images for HTC keyboard are inside windows folder .. just copy all the images from the windows folder to a folder on your pc and you will see them all ;)

This problem is because of wrong settings for activesync. I'm using activesync myself and I have no problem with either bluetooth or usb connection.

there is no wrong setting because when i go back to wm5 everything works fine with usb switch for USB and bluetooth also works fine,its only wm6(crystal4 bug) causing problem. remember pap chap settings were missing in touch IX beta roms,there is something missing in rndis &serial section this time too.it is after applying your bluetooth patch that it stops usb connectivity ,or there is no bluetooth connectivity and only usb works without patch,where as they should be both working at any time over active sync without these patches,i have reflashed several times now with your crystal V4 and X beta but same problem exists .

You can't find it because it's in your Extrom and Extrom is hidden. The only way is to re-inistall the cab that I put in Crystalv4\extrom folder.

yes , the max is 10 Mb , but there is a limitation in number of files you can put in your extrom, after some point our method of writing to extrom fail to copy the files when the file numbers exceed some certain amount. if you have G3 then you can make your own extrom with tools available then make the .nbf file with os and extrom and flash it with updateUtility but if you have G4 this method wont work.

Seems its only for English edition, so if you want to use it just choose the regional to English.
This ROM doesn't support other language beside English, you have to install your own language for it but not all the text can be appear in this ROM

I have 2 issues:
1. I've changed regional settings to my locale and now HTC home screen shows time in correct 24h format, while system clock shows it in 12h format (but without AM and PM mark). I've used many roms before (including Gullum's VII-IX) but have never seen such issue.

I am still using prohet VIII, but I am looking for another phone skin (dialpad), because I don't like the standard black touch skin with this very small photo on the screen. I like this phone skin and I am wondering if it is possible to get this skin or if I can use some files of this rom to copy to another rom? Thx very much.

I have 2 issues:
1. I've changed regional settings to my locale and now HTC home screen shows time in correct 24h format, while system clock shows it in 12h format (but without AM and PM mark). I've used many roms before (including Gullum's VII-IX) but have never seen such issue.

I've noticed that before with Crystal V3 too. It is a strange glitch, but easy to deal with:
In regional settings, just choose the appropiate timesetting from the drop-down list. Things will be the way you expect it to be again.

are you sure you've installed crystal V4 ?! :) Crystal V4 doesn't have VOIP. ( It's my personal edition and because I don't use it, I took it out).
HTC action screen is mapped to one of the soft keys , just click on it . ( that's the case if you have installed V4 and you let those cab inside the Extrom get install on your phone).

if what you have is not Crystal V4 then I hope you install V4 and I hope you like it :)

Crystal V4 works great for my prophet. :)
I usually like to read Ebook at night and I have a problem with Backlight.
Prophet has only 5 levels for Backlight. The level 0 (Leftmost) totally turn the screen off and The level 1 is still too bright to read Ebook on the bed at night.
Can the ROMs be cooked to add more adjustment level of Backlight ? Like O2 or palm highend model has 10 or more levels for Backlight adjustment.

This's just a suggestion. Can you include the default all black touch skins in the next upgrade of your ROM.

Even if you change the titlebar & text colors, black bakgrounds n other skins would match along better than the default crossbow (greeny) color.

hello, well this rom is not from Pdaviet and you can not remove the XT9 keyboard ( if that's what you are asking).

you have to copy crystalV4 folder to the root of your Hard drive and run it from there .. if you unrar the file on your desktop and run the upgrderom.bat you will get this error.

Like most of the cooked WinCE 6 versions for the prophet also this one losses WLAN setting and also email setup.

This is sad and for me a real show stopper to continue using this ROM.

Is there a workaround?

After downgrade to WM5, copy EnableRapi.cab and Cert_SPCS.cab into ur dopod and install. Then run upgrade V4. Best of luck.

my device loses the BT connection often with that rom, in a way I never saw before. It doesn't lose the settings, but won't reconnect to the headset until I delete than re-pair it. And yeah, I made a poweroff to hard-write registry.

I changed my ROM (QTEK WM5) 2 weeks ago to Cristal V4 and I'm quite happy. :D
I tried 2 ROMs before and your personal edition is the best (for me).
So fast, clean and very stable. I removed the HTC programs to have more free space and it's amazing!

Hello all xda-developers,
Here's my shut down/restart procedure. I have found that this seems to act as a work around for nearly all problems I've had in both WM2003 SE, WM5 and WM6, both cooked and official releases. N.B. I am currently using Crystal V4. (personal edition) so that's why I've posted this here.
I close all programmes and any other 3rd party add-onns like pocketMAX redial, for example or WR-Tools in WM2003, AE Button Plus, etc. Then go to settings, today and remove all today items. Finally soft reset (in WM5 and WM6 using the long press power button).
While this method is more of a hassle, even with unstable ROMS, you end up doing a lot less resets with this method and therefore it actually saves time.
Also, sometimes, particularly with WM5 and WM6 cooked roms I often find that it helps to initiate the WiFi manually before restarting any of the today items. I think that this is a sysyem resources issue.
For really persistant problems, I follow the above procedure and then do a standard stylus in the hole soft reset, and this really does seem to resolve nearly all problems.
Perhaps I will do a seperate thread with a poll on this subject when I get some more time.
On this ROM specifically, I think that Quick Menu has some problems (most of which are solved by the above method) but that the advantages of the software outweigh the limitations. What do you think?

same problem here, i tought the confict was with action menu, so i deleted it from the ext rom and flashed again, and the conflict is still there, the problem is with every notification the prophey does, even with others aplications like chronos

As I wrote before, I'm not out here to make a fool of you, or anyone else for that matter. But the way you shut down your device is essential for the way your Prophet deals with information in cache-memory. If you make a soft reset instead of a normal "official" shutdown, everything that is in cache will be lost. And, as WM6 keeps data a (to) long time in cache, you will loose essential settings. Maybe people don't notice right away and keep wondering (and asking) about strange, unexplained behaviour. Look at it as stopping your car by driving against a tree instead of removing the ignition-key...

In your case, I can imagine that the setting of vertical/horizontal display isn't saved when you make a soft reset, have you tried a proper shutdown after altering these settings?

Just some general information the all that are interested:
The soft reset is ONLY ment to be used if your device isn't responding anymore due to soft- or hardware faillure. You should only use it in these occasions. In all other cases, use the normal shutdown (keep the standby button pressed for 4 seconds and answer the dialog with "yes"). You will save yourselve a whole lot of headache!

that 'Keyboard Suggestion' cab enables word suggestion, but it makes the HTC TOUCH KBs almost useless. Those would change into the below shown layout even in SMS & Word apps!!

for anyone who wants to recover their email account do the following

1. download the file
2. unzip it
3. put the .exe file on your SD card
OPTIONAL: Add a txt file with your email settings
4. Whenever you lose your settings run the program from your device...the first time you will have to enter the info when you want to recover, afterwards it should remember your email settings (in the program that is)

I have been using V4 for a few days. Generally I would rate it 9/10.
I have three minor problems:
1, Live doesn't work. This seems to happen on all WM6 versions I have tried.
2, Wifi is working, but can not automatically pickup my router. Everytime I have to run "Wifi shortcut" then select my router and manually connect it.
3, Sometimes phone ON by comm manager doesn't work reliable. When I turned it on from flight mode, it may be off itself after a few seconds. So I have to tuen ON several times to make it really on. But after soft reset it seems be able to ON reliable.

Seems its only for English edition, so if you want to use it just choose the regional to English.
This ROM doesn't support other language beside English, you have to install your own language for it but not all the text can be appear in this ROM

I installed the TNT VOIP.cab and set up a voip account through VoipCheap. The internet calling seems to work in terms of functionality. I can select internet calling when available and the today screen plugin has changed to:
"VoipCheap: Available" or "VoipCheap: Selected". When I select VoipCheap it appears in the phone screen as the operator. I have bought credit with the provider and tried installing the settings on their website (www.voipcheap.co.uk) via Setup Voip, SIP Config and making my own voip.cab using cabarc.exe but in all cases so far I just get a message saying:
"Network Service is not available. Try again later." with an "OK" button.
I've tried all the port forwarding and even switching my router's firewall off, but I've not got passed the network service message.
Does anybody know what I may be doing wrong or could do to get voip working on this ROM?
I noticed that one other used got this working so was wondering if there's a secret step I'm not aware of.

I tried Crystal 4 on my S200 last night. Everything went fine, but when trying to SYNC my contacts and calendar with ActiveSync the process ran out of memory saying "not enough memory to sync, please free up some mem space on your PDA".

I only installed the HTC Home component within the Crystal4 ROM ...

I had one other small issue : everytime when starting the S200 it came up with an error message saying that TRAY_INIT could not be found ... (little bit annoying).

But my main concern is : why do I have not enough memory to SYNC ??

Shall I wait until Crystal5 arrives ?

Any help is welcome ! :rolleyes:

you have to hard reset your phone as many others and I have said it N times before.

about the errors, do not pay attention to them. and do not touch your phone while upgrading it's rom.

been using your rom for quite some time now hma4. really like it.

1 bug though, i think it's common in all wm6 roms i tried - cannot connect directly when wifi turned on, need to manually pick my wifi lan to get it started.

personally after touch 8, i prefer your rom to touch 9 or 10. so when are we going to see crystal V5 then? heheh

This is in all WM6 ROMs indeed. To my experience it has to do with WEP encryption. Have you tried WPA instead? In my case this offered a very stable solution.

Hi There,

Seem your problem is usual thing in WM6, once you reboot the Prophet you will have more memory and it will decrease by the time because you use the phone for phone calling and receiving, messaging, calendar task, and other application which is running in the background.
One more thing, if you have more messages and more contact list the memory will decrease much because all of them will be load in the memory, including music ringtone etc.

So if you want to have more memory, you can reboot the prophet everyday but i think it is not very usefull because if the available memory is not enough to loading the application, the WM6 OS will inform you that your memory is low.

do not bother with low memory is it is disturb ur prophet.

Hi,

something changed between v3 and v4, which means that my GPRS settings don't work anymore.

I use a GPRS WAP Flat via German o2 - and I use a cab to install the settings. It works fine on v3, but v4 gives page loading errors.

Any idea what causes this and what changed?

Hi all,
I have had a number of problems with this ROM in terms of the radio section, but I think I've got it sorted now.
Problems included are:
Don't receive phone calls when GPRS data connection active.
Don't receive phone calls when GPRS data connection is sending/receiving
Don't recieve any text messages, even when sender gets a delivery report
Can't send text messages ("Phone not ready, please wait 15 seconds and try again.")
Don't get voicemail notifications
As you can imagine these issues are extremely annoying and cancel out any benefits of WM6.
However, I seem to have resolved all if not most of these problems. I have installed radio version 2.47.21, having tried a number of others, which does seem to have resolved the problem.
What have other users found in terms of radio rom?

For a better understanding, this cooked ROM (as most of them) doesn't affect your radioROM, it is completely seperated. Some WM5 RUU's wich we use for step 1 in the upgradeprocess do change the radioROM. Perhaps that is what happened in your case. With that in mind, a ROM dedicated thread is not the best place to post...

But besides that, I have used many cooked WM6 ROMs and only a few radioROMs. I used the 2.47.21 before an now the 2.69.21 for a while and never run in to the problems you describe. I'd red about the nonreceiving with GPRS active so I took particular notice on that part, but everything works as it should be. Also, I use textmessaging a lot, and never a complaint... I hope this answers your question?

Just out of curiosity, wich radioROM did you use that gave you such serious trouble?

Hi, I have just flashed this crystal v4 rom and it is fantastic. However, Touch XB has been released and I wanted to try it. Tried downgrading to WM5 first but Error 260 occurs ( no 3 colour bootloader screen, just a blankscreen) . I cannot enter the bootloader screen using the camera+reset method as well. Anyone has this problem ? Have been trying many other roms (downgrading upgrading) before and this is the first time it happens. BTW, my SPL and IPL is 2.20 if it helps.

It is not a trojan but it's the way the program is working that makes your virus scanner thing it's a trojan.
cleartemp is a program for deleting files and you scanner thinks is a bad file because of that.

Yeah, I had that about a week ago. I just flashed with step 1 from Jesterz aku 3.3 ROM, and all was well again. If you can't find it, PM me. I still have it somewhere, but only the g4 version.

This sounds really weird...and I never heard of this before. I use V4 for about 3 weeks now and never hat any problem with it...maybe you should try flashing again and test it, before you install any apps.
BTW: works wonderful, when you use the new way of flashing Roms (got to prepare V4 for that, but hma4's sticky thread explains it very clear) ....got about 8 MB more storage ;)
