Yes please :)
I second that. Ordered the HTC Touch Dual from a local vendor that should have it in stock within 2 weeks... I can hardly wait, but tips and pointers would be good on this particular device before it hits my house ;)

I have been looking daily for an HTC Touch Dual Forum here.
Sad to leave Herald Group finaly and after being a Blue Angle, Hermes, Wizard and Magician member. But now I have no where to go and the Developement and Hacking area could only hold my attention so long.
But here is to this site, it is the best site I have become a member of and after so many years it keeps growing with users, apps and more support for many devices everyday. Look forward to my new future group, See you all soon in the Touch Dual section.
Thanks xda-developers, you deserve a shout out.

Another one to the list. I picked up my HTC Touch Dual from an Orange store on Monday. Absolutely cracking phone but a few minor things that I'd like help on. Patiently waiting for a Touch Dual forum as the HTC Touch/Elf isn't quite the same.
Anyone know how to app unlock it? I'm trying to install some software so that I can rotate the photo album and video player to portrait view. Would also like the ability for the photo and video to be able to search folders other than the one on the device.
Thank you. Waiting in anticipation for the new forum.

isnt that an elf fit with a keyboard?
The elf uses a TI OMAPI 200Mhz Processor with 128 rom 64mb ram and a 2.8 inch screen
The Dual has a 400Mhz Qualcom Processor with 256mb rom and 128mb ram, a 2.6 in screen, two cameras (video calling), UMTS/HSPDA, and last but not least a keypad or keyboard(depending on model).
A huge hardware difference, Simularities in design and touch capabilites though. The elf is thinner, but I want to say the Dual is slimmer in width and longer too.
+1
I don't own a touch dual but I'm interested in discussions, expecially on "missing" wifi... I suspect there is still in, and just deactivated for mobile carriers

WiFi chip may be in (Qualcomm), but most probably there wont be an antenna!
I have ordered this cracking phone, too (even though I still am looking for the Touch Cruise)
even without antenna i'm interested in unlocking it... Short range, but better than nothing :p Also, modaco guys say that the first tuouch dual had wifi, as ht100 (nttdocomo). Also smape.com reports in it's review that some countries will receive a special version wifi equipped. Different hardware revisions or just a cheaper software hack? I'm interested ;)

After removing the battery cover, I noticed a brass ring that looks very simular to an antenna hookup simular to what an xm radio satlite antnenna looks like or a very small BNC type coaxle connection toward the bottom of the phone near the sim card. Check out the attachment for a photo. I have never noticed this on any other HTC device I have owned in the past.
Any thoughts anybody? Does this help support wifi or gps capabilities?
BTW, I love my Touch Dual; Best phone/HTC device I have ever had.

Thats just for gsm antenna. every htc device i owned got this. since you are from the usa ... is it your first gsm htc??
@admins please open up the new forum ... and maybe you could look through this forum, where owner of different devices has same problems as the nike users here.
@mods could you please forward our interests to the admins here, thank you.

the Dual is not an Elf with a keyboard, it's a Kaiser with a smaller keyboard.
the hardware is 99% the same, and i guess so are its problems.

Your right, just never noticed it. For some reason it just stood out more and may never came to mind until we brought up wifi/gps. On my Herald and Wizard it is recessed into the phone, but the Dual has it real close to the casing.
the Dual is not an Elf with a keyboard, it's a Kaiser with a smaller keyboard. That is a better comparison for the Dual. Though the hardware maybe simular, the Touch driver is the one unique thing to the Touch and Dual. Ive had other devices that user "simulated" this effect but it is not the same. Wifi and GPS are deffinetly the benifit to the Kaiser, but the size of the Dual impresses me alot. Ive owned a Imate jam and I swore it was the smallest Pocket PC around with a 400mhz processor until now. The hardware is 99% the same, and i guess so are its problems.
What problems are you experiencing? I have not owned the kaiser but the Dual hasnt given me problems yet (1 week ownership) I would be interested to know if I am missing something. The only software Ive added to it is MS Voice Command 1.6 and SPB Mobile Shell 1.5. I did have to play with connection settings a bit to get the internet to work. It would not connect until I changed the GPRS setting from PAP to CHAP.
Only thing I lack is a UMTS/HSPDA connection but I thinks its because of my area. Does anybody know US availibilty or if there is specific connection settings that UMTS/HSPDA requires? Right now the fastest I connect at is EDGE.

Anyone know how to app unlock it? I'm trying to install some software so that I can rotate the photo album and video player to portrait view. Would also like the ability for the photo and video to be able to search folders other than the one on the device. If you take a picture with the camera with the settings pointing at the storage card it will create a DCIM folder. You can place pictures there even if they are in sub folders. As long as they are in that folder the HTC album will find them. I use WMP 11 for syncing images; it sizes them down, then I move them to the DCIM folder. HTC album is quick to load and scroll through them. I loaded a couple of 4 & 5mb images and it works just lags on scroll a bit and loading thumbnails. I wish you could setup WMP to resize to a little higher resolution for zooming; Any suggestions?
I would like to find a reg tweak to move the location on the Storage card from "DCIM" to "My Pictures". Then syncing pictures would be a one step process.

Hi All,
My apologies for not responding earlier but as midget explained I wasn't able to due to sickness.
The HTC vogue has been added if i'm not mistaken this is the codename for the touch dual.
The HTC shift has been added.
The HTC polaris is added.
Gene and Phoebus are still under discussion within the mod forum.
I hope everyone understands that we don't create a forum for every device HTC thinks up (although we'd love to) but we are short on space and for every new forum we need mods to support them..
HTH HAND,
Flar
I think the vogue is the CDMA version of the touch with the Qualcom processor and memory upgrades. I think the code name for the Touch Dual is "Nike". Can anybody confirm this.
Thanks

I was reading through another post about WM6.1 upgrade that linked to this article. In the article they breifly mentioned the touch dual.
http://blogs.zdnet.com/mobile-gadgeteer/?p=707
But more importantly it is where I found this paragraph intersting.
"Qualcomm see the decreasing cost of the smartphone spurring growth in adoption of these devices. Steve talked about the Qualcomm/Microsoft collaboration effort and the MSM 7xxx series of chipsets we see in today’s latest and greatest devices. These chipsets include GPS, media, applications processors and more in a single, low battery consumption configuration. There are several variants of their chips in mobile devices today with some having everything inside and some having limitations desired by the manufacturer or carrier for various reasons (cost, size of the device, targeted market, etc)."
When they say there are several variants, I wonder if all chipsets have the capability and are selective by manufacturer or if certain series carry the option?
Additional Findings:
HTC Touch Cruise (polaris) has GPS & Wifi with the Qualcomm® MSM 7200, 400MHz processor - The same processor the HTC Touch Dual (nike) has. There would be no reason to use additional hardware if the processor provides the capability. Hopefully its just a software lock or lack of drivers.
I Can't wait for a forum to start this thread! <-- Will donate funds if/when forum opens!!
up!
we need a forum for dual, the touch section is a mess with touch, touch enhanced and dual...

it's sad to see how the admins on this site administrate their time and requests of it's users... is there another forum where we can get the info that would be requested in a touch dual forum, when the admins won't give us the forum we want?.... unbelievable.

The forum for it was under the Herald section. Though most cooked roms were specific to the Wing or p4350; never 1 rom for both mainly because of keyboard differences. Same hardware, but slight aesthetic differences and keyboard layouts. I enjoyed my Wing until the Dual came out. Size, speed and a real "Touch" screen is a hugh upgrade and having at least 60% memory free is great.
