[QUOTE=Dr J;1662264]IT WORKS ON MY WM5 HERMES!
i copied the .dll files to the device Windows folder, installed the Certs cab, then the SDHC cab, took out my 1Gb microSD and put in my 6Gb microSDHC, soft reset.... and it worked!
Please tell me where to get the .dll files and the "Certs cab". The SDHC driver does not yet work on my iPAQ rx5915 - I am still hopeful!!:):):)
Thanks in advance.

I have an unaltered HTC Universal (O2 Exec version, WM5) and have been trying to get it to use an 8GB Pny Class 4 card. Until trying this cab, the best I got was 3.6 recognized. Thanks to the great work of bennyyyen for getting it right and psidoc for separately packing it, I can now watch just shy of 4hrs video with my extended battery and tcpmp. Even *.flv with a plugin I found. Once again the homebrew scene has breathed new life into a fantastic older device, extending its usefulness. Now if only I could get A2DP to work...
THANKS TO ALL HARD WORKING CODERS, COOKERS, POSTERS ON THIS SITE!!!

very easy to overwrite. go to windows of ur pocketpc thru file explorer..right click to sdbus then rename ..make it sdbusold. do the same with sdmemory, change to sdmemoryold...then go back to the folder of sdhc driver...inside it u could find the subfolder windows, just open it.. you can see the two files sdbus and sdmemory...do the same by renaming...from sdbus to sdbusnew and from sdmemory to sdmemorynew...then copy these 2 files...go to the windows where u could find the sdbusold and sdmemoryold..right click and paste...afterwards u could have fourfiles in your windows folder..sdbusold and sdbusnew and sdmemoryold and sdmemorynew...dont remove anymore the old...just install the cert.cab...then soft reset then ur done..

Hi every1,
I was wondering whether the patch could be used with my Himalaya (QTEK 2020) run with WM 6.1. In its windows I can see SDBusDriver.dll, SDMemory and sdputil.dll. I can see no SDBus.dll Can anybody help me with that?
Is it suitable for Himalaya, at last?

I've found a very simple solution to overwrite "sdbus.dll" and "sdmemory.dll !!! :)
1. Install SDHC.cab - And here is the solution: DO NOT RESTART YOUR DEVICE WHEN IT ASKS YOU AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF THAT .CAB FILE !!! PRESS CANCEL !!!
2. Now you should be able to overwrite those two files.
3. Install Certs.cab
4. Soft reset
Note: Windows Explorer will won't show those dll's, so you have to use Total Commander for Pocket PC or send them through Active Sync.
Good luck!

Got it working on my HTC P3300!
Card: Kingston SDHC 4GB, Class-4
Installer used: Artemis (SDHC-Artemis.cab extracted from sdhcArtemis.zip)
First try: Installed SDHC.zip, but wireless stopped being detected.
Second Try (successful!): Installed artemis and works like a charm!

SDHC card patch (Freeware)
Requirements: Windows Mobile 6 PocketPC tested with other WindowsMobile version
Overview: Patch for PPC running WM6 for reading 2,4,6,8 GB SDC cards. This patch allows you to use 2,4,8 GB SDHC cards in your WM6 PPC.

What is SDHC?
SD High Capacity (SDHC) card is the new SD™ memory card based on the SDA
2.00 specification, introduced by the SD Card Association. This new SDA 2.00
specification enables SD cards to reach higher capacities - 4GB-32GB*.
Because SDHC works differently then standard SD cards, this new format is not
backwards compatible with legacy SD format host devices.
More SDHC compatible devices are expected to be available in the second half of 2006.
To ensure compatibility, look for the SDHC logo on cards and host devices (cameras,
camcorders, etc.)
Compatibility with SDHC 4GB:
4GB SDHC cards can only work with SDHC compatible host
devices. To ensure compatibility, look for the SDHC logo on
the packaging. Please check with your device manufacturer
for their current/future supported SDHC devices.

Though it was not easy going, this thread did eventually prove as useful as I'd hoped. I recently purchased a Dell Axim X51v and was interested in adding SDHC support to it without flashing to a WM6.1 ROM (though I plan to eventually). After slogging through this thread (I pretty much read every post up to page 39!) I was successful at adding full SDHC capabilities to my X51v with the stock WM5.0 rom that it came from Dell with. This is how I did it.
I spent about 3 hours working with SDHC_WM6WM5.cab, SDHC_v071227.cab, SDHC.777.cab but none of these worked, I was able to replace the .dll files (which is manually required by 2 of those .cabs) by using the rename and replace trick that is explained numerous times earlier in this thread. I tried every combination of installing .cabs, replacing .dlls and soft reseting that I could possibly try all to no avail. As I read on further in the thread I did come across SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK. I originally disregarded this since right in its name is says it is for devices I am not working with. I don't even know what a C550 or an N560 are. Along I went reading further and reading more about people having success with SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK working on other things than what it is intended for. As a last ditch effort I figured what the hell I'll give it a try since it can't hurt. I ran the install and soft reset just as is instructed and did I just about fall out of my chair when I put in my HP 16GB SDHC card and it recognized it! 15.whatever it was GBs! I was extremely pleased.
I saw a few people along the way inquiring about whether anything worked with and Axim X51v, hopefully they figured it out themselves or they may come across my post. Thanks to all the posters that help me acheive success in the end!
Some things to note: I had cleared all the previous sdhc related cabs from my Ax. This was a bit of a tricky process. You have to reinstall the .cab (that you want to remove) which will tell you that it must uninstall the previous install first which is followed by a soft reset prompt. After the soft reset you can use the remove programs utility to fully remove from the program from the system. If you use the remove programs utility first it will tell you that it can't be fully removed in which case you have to fully reinstall and then follow the process that I listed anyhow. This took me a few tries to figure out, what a pain in the ass! I also replaced the stock .dlls in the Ax's windows directory so that it was back to the way it was before I tried any of the sdhc .cab files. I did all this before I ran SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK. I am using a windows vista system and transfered the SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK file directly onto the Ax's built in memory using the usb system to just copy and paste them to it like it was another storage card, I did not in anyway use the Windows Mobile Device Center (the vista compatible replacement for active sync).
I know this should help anyone looking to add SDHC support to an Axim X51v without flashing to a WM6.1 ROM, I don't know if it will help anyone else, but hopefully you will enjoy my lengthy post. :D
I stopped reading every page after I got it working so someone may have already posted about this previously in the 20 or so pages that I did not read.

I have a T-Mobile MDA Compact III (HTC Artemis 110), running WM5.0
I've missed the boat to upgrade it to WM6, but I'd like to patch it for SDHC (Sandisc 8Gb HC compatibility)
I found the patch file sdhcArtemis.cab on this forim, but this seems to relate to WM6. Has anybody tried it with WM5
Any advice greatly received.

Why don't you try the SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK patch. Although it was written for the Loox N560 PDA, it seems to work on many other makes. It is a small cab file that you copy to memory or card and run it. It installs as a program and it it does not work you can always uninstall it. I have used it (albeit on an N560) on WM5 and WM6.1 and it works. It can be downloaded from this thread, I think?

I've found the download, so I'll give it a try tonight. I'm a bit of a techno-idiot, (being a bass player) but does it install as a program that can be un-installed if necessary?
Another question: Upon searching the threads, SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK.cab seems to fix WiFi issues too. When T-Mobile issued the MDA Compact III, WiFi was disabled, and I recall at the time, there was no real fix for it. (Of course that will be T-Mobile deliberately forcing owners to get internet access via their extortionate phone lines!) Maybe this will re-enable the WiFi ??
Thanks

Apologies for being a complete thicky! As I hit the send button, I realised I was asking a daft question!
Anyhow, I did install it, but alas the SDHC card was still not recognised, so I uninstalled it!
I'm still on the lookout for a P3300/MDA C 3 upgrade zip file, so that I can istall Windows 6. Has anybody still got the original T-maobile download? It's no longer available on their website.

You have to do a soft reset before it works. It is no good just installing and trying it. Even simply switching the device on an off is not enough. You have to soft reset. It might be worth doing another install?

Thanks for the reply - I'll try it again with the soft reset. I've seen from various threads, that some are also installing: Signed_Storage_Settings_App.cab.
Will this help out WM5 recognising my 8Gb SDHC card on my T-Mobile MDA-C-III??

Well I followed your suggestion, including a soft restart, but alas no recognition for SDHC, but the original 2gig SD card was still recognised. I then made the stupid mistake of trying out the "Signed_Storage_Settings_App.cab" and now no SD cards atall are recognise! AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH
any ideas how I can kick start the old SD in my WM5 MDA compact III? I'd like to be able to de-activate Copilot first (which requires the SD card) before I attempt to flash a new ROM. I'll probably get that all wrong too....

Hi ppl!.. Sad to say this patch didn't work in my AT&T 8525 .. My 4GB SanDisk SDHC card doesn't work. So far my device is:
ROM: 3.57.502.1
ROM date: 07/10/07
Radio version 1.48
Protocol version: 32.81.7020.20H
I installed the ROM from a thread in here, I got the ATT_WM6.zip file which includes RUU_signed.nbh and RUUWrapper.exe
Any idea what could it be? Any other ROM you would recomend for me?

I tried this patch on IPAQ/Jornada HX2490 and it works great, although I had to repeat it twice, as after first time I could not see any cards. I did not substitute dll files second time. It is probably better to backup sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll files in \Windows of PDA before running cabs.

The driver I used was this one:

The card I used was this one:
http://flashmemory-store.stores.yahoo.net/8gb-qmemory-mini-sd-sdhc-card.html
This card and driver worked fine and survived my device being turned off and back on. The problem I am having is battery life. Without the patch, my battery will last a week or so. When I install the patch, the battery will only last less than a day.
Has anyone else tried this patch? If so, did you have any battery life problems?

This must be about the most frustrating and unhelpful thread I have ever seen. This is supposed to be a place to get help with PDA problems, I gather? You wouldn't know.
I've got an ETEN M600 running WM6.1. At first I thought this OS should already have SDHC support built-in, but no. Btw, does anybody know that none of us would be having this problem except that some dickhead in the SD development team decided that nobody would ever want SD card bigger than 2 gigs. At that point, it would have been just as easy to make it 32 or 64 gigs.
For some reason, my M600 will not install the CAB file in the first place, nor will it let me replace the dll files either. After trying many things, my device now doesn't see any card at all. I am not happy; if I had read this thread all the way through, I wouldn't have even tried. But that would have taken 4 or 5 hours, Well, it did, anyway, plus all the time wasted trying to install it, and now I have to reflash my unit. With all that, the last thing i needed was a totally uninformed idiot yelling that it's a hardware issue and will never work.
It seems to me that these patches work on Philips, LG and maybe iPaq units, but not much else.
BTW, I think I read in the middle somewhere that certs.cab was only needed for WM5. Is this so? I just might be stupid enough to try all this again after I've reflashed new OS. If certs.cab isn't really needed, I don't want to use it. Know what I mean?

Hard-Reset wipes out RAM, all executables (exe, dll, cpl) get deleted, this
in full contrast to Soft-Reset, where all executables are kept to speed up booting the device.
The DSK device doesn't get unlocked when doing a Soft-reset.
It seems to me the SDHC patch you are using is poorly programmed, i.e it is blocking DSK, or
the settings in your registry are insufficient, espescially the power management settings.
EDIT:
Also visit

Ok, i tried it...
I installed both .cab-files.
I tried to copy sdbus/sdmemory.dll, doesn't work.
-> DriverWiz made a .cab for me with the 2 .dll's, and now the PDA (FSC Loox N520) doesn't read any SD-Card...
Well done.

I am not sure why you applied two cab files? Only one is required. And there should be no need to copy any dlls. However, having applied one patch cab, you have to do a soft reset otherwise it does not work. Indeed this one patch was made for the Loox (albeit the N560) but it does work on most of the more recent Looxes including the N520. So don't be too dismissive. You need to do a bit more work.
If you have truly messed it up, then a hard reset should get you back working on the normal SDs. However, you will have to recover all your apps by re-installing or from a complete backup taken before you applied all the patches!

Doesn't work for HTC Touch Chinese Clone (Model ELF0100). Details of the ROM & HW:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (Spanish)
SO CE 5.2.20269 (Compilation 20269.1.3.0)
Processor ARM926T OMAP850
Memory 107.7MB
Ranura Expans: Sin utilizar (but it does read my 2GB miniSD)
ROM 1.11.706.1B CHS
ROM 05/24/07
EIR 03.07.90
Protocol 4.1.13.51
CPU Speed 201 MHz
RAM size 128 MB
Nandflash size: 256 MB
Data bus 16 BIT
Model ELF0100
etc, etc.
Symptoms: no cards recognized (Kingston mini SDHC 8GB, nor old 2GB miniSD card).
Solution:
I did returned to default state by replacing both dll with original ones (my backup) using Resco Explorer.
Then hard-reset (pressing red+green+power buttons until the blue screen appeared).
All returned to normal state, recognizing my old 2GB miniSD card.
Restored backup in card (sbp backup exe backup file).
Again working normally :)

Oddly enough, most of the spec you'll find say that the Mio P550 will handle up to a 2GB card...
I've got a Mitac MioP550 with WM6.5 on it, and the 2GB on-board + the 2GB SD card is a nice, hefty amount of space for this little guy.
The only addressive issue is that WMM (windowsMedia Mobile) will happily synch the IMAGES from the card (and pops up a screen asking if you'd like to do so), but seems to have a problem importing the music (.mp3).
Dunno why, but the 2GB+2 is a pretty nice storage base for anyone...
2GB+8 would be CRAZY!

my device is hp 6915, card id 8 gb sandisk sdhc class2 microsd with mini sd adapter..
I tried both solutions on this threat, but unfortunately could not solve the "standby/resume" issue...
when I power off the device and wake up it again, device does not recognize the sdhc card. only after re-inserting the card solves the problem.
any solution for this ultimate problem???

Hi.
I've applied the SDHC patch to my Loox 520. Simply installed the SDHC.cab and it asked to "reboot". Confirmed that, and after the reboot the SDHC (4 GB) was detected correctly. But now I have the problem that performance is very poor when accessing the sd card. Starting e.g. Navigon now takes 3 times longer than before. Also switching back to the 2GB sd card makes no difference.
I removed that SDHC patch via "Remove Programs", it was called "HTC SDHC" IIRC, and after an additional reboot, the performance of the 2gb card is back to normal.
Did someone encounter similar problems? for the record: I did NOT softreset the 520 though pressing the standby button and reset button (with pen). But I don't think that's a problem since the .cab made a soft-reset by itself and the card worked basically.
Any hints?

I assume you are using one of the patches on the first page of this thread? If so, have you tried the Loox N560 patch for SDHC. It seems to work on lots of other makes and models as well as Looxes. You have to do a soft reset after you install it. And you can uninstall it, if it does not work for you. It is here

Let us know if it works, please?

Been trying some of these on my ol' HP iPaq 6945 (stuck with WM5) with a Kingston 4gb SDHC card formatted Fat32. My "normal" card is a Kingston 2gb SD formatted Fat32, both are micro in an mini adapter. For my testing I duplicated the 2gb data to the 4gb on my PC.
Tried using an "HTC SDHC" labeled cab from another thread as well as the "N560 & C550" one here. I got the exact same results with both of them.
At first everything seems to work awesome. I can see the full size, and use the new SDHC card perfectly (read and write seems fine, and FAST). Wifi and GPS both still work fine. All my programs and such launch and run fine.
Like others, the problems start once the device goes to sleep/standby (what ever its called). Once turned back on, the card often shows as FULL, and nothing will load or run from it. Browsing to the Storage Card in file explorer shows a few directories, but all empty.
Of course rebooting the device or popping the card out and back in, gets things working again. *Sigh*
I also tried a couple reg edit ideas found here ( goo.gl/9WZe ) , none of which worked to solve the issue.
I have yet to try the procedure from the first post of this thread (sdhc.cab + .dll files + Cert.cab), because of so many people having things get screwed up with the card reader, GPS or WiFi. I may read through the cab xml files to find out what they change, so I can try them and revert if hell breaks loose.
So close.. *sigh* :(

I think it's amazing you figured out how to do this.
I tried installing this on my HX4700. It installed without trouble but I can't read a 16GB card. I don't have any other SDHC cards to try at the moment. Before I run out and buy an 8GB card, I thought I'd mention that I installed Windows mobile 6.5 on my hx4700 (runs great) which has SDBusDriver and SDMemory instead of SDBus and SDMemory. Would that make a difference?

I finally got the DLL's replaced, and then I could not read ANY SD cards on my iPAQ hx4700. After fiddling with it a while I assumed this fix won't work on WM6.5 and did a hard reset.
I'd really like my hx4700 to read 8gb and 16gb SDHC cards, so now I'm trying to understand how you wrote the driver in the first place. I do C# development and while I'm a newcomer to writing for PDA's I'm not afraid to dive into writing a driver and cab. Unfortunately I have no clue as to where to start researching. If you're not planning to rewrite this anytime soon for WM6.5, could you tell me where to start?
If you're planning to write a driver for the hx4700 that works with WM6.5, please let us know!

Blueberry A9630 (bb curve clone with wm 6.1)
do this:
1) hard reset (from control panel, 1234+yes)
2) install "SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK" patch on device (no SD)
3) soft reset (power off+remove & install battery)
Trascend SDHC 4GB works fine...:):):)

hi all,
SDHC_DRIVERS_FOR_C550_AND_N560_BY_GreateVK_AND_Fre ePK works fine on MIO A201 wm5.
i use a transcend 8gb class 6, and can use the whole size.
the only "trick" i have used is checking "insert/removal SD/MMC CARD": THIS should avoid the need of soft resets when insert the card.
thanks
