I have recently purchased a Hermes (Dopod 838Pro) under the impression that it had a flashing problem with the latest Schap's firmware WM6 and had never been opened, however, I suspect more than that after receiving the item now so was hoping that the more experienced in the forum might be able to help me diagnose the problem.
The symptoms are that it will not start unless the unit is twisted, starting up the screen will look fine, then develop lines, fade across the screen etc until you get the subtle twist just right.
Upon taking the unit apart, it seems that applying pressure to the tin plate to the right of the base of the display connector on the mainboard fixes the problem. I have a attached a picture of the area, it is the area of the Yellow circle. Ensuring that the display connector is correct does not seem to solve the problem on its own. The yellow area needs to be basically clamped with one finger on battery and other on the point on the tin plate (yellow circle) and pushed together.
I have applied the current Hard-SPL v7 just in case, but would like any suggestions in diagnosing further particularly to confirm/deny if it is likely a mainboard problem and if so if it is a relatively common problem and can be fixed without a mainboard replacement.
Also if anyone would recommend reflashing, what you would recommend reflashing with to be most reliable to eliminate possiblities while diagnosing this problem. I am in Australia on the GSM vodafone network.
Alternatively if anyone has a mainboard for a Hermes for sale please let me know.
Thankyou for any help.

Update: For some reason I am now unable to get anything on the screen. It is black with very faint backlight when turned on. Connecting via USB to pc however, gives full access to device so it must be booted up to WM6 I am guessing. While in this state I have flashed to the HTC from for Australia Vodafone and Optus WM6 - No change from before update.
