Quick question Custel, I'm with Sprint and before I could hit ##3282#, input my MSL code, and edit a lot of settings but obviously now that I've loaded your ROM based off Alltell, that doesn't work anymore.

Do you know how I can switch from "Mobile IP only" to "Mobile IP preferred"?

With Altell you have to replace the last "#" with hitting the send or talk button.

So you should be able to type "##3282 [TALK]" and it should work.

Upon closer inspection, it appears that these ARE NOT the vogue BT drivers...
Custel, care to share some info about what you did here?

I just tried to installed the PPCgeeks MMS, but it doesn't seem to work...

Is there a way to get MMS on this ROM? Thanks!

Also just noticed that "recent programs" don't save after a soft reset. Not really an issue, but something to note.
So far great and quick ROM!

Take a look in the first post under notable features. Yes, this one does work with the CDMA Titan (Mogul) for sprint.

I'm working on an xml file to load sprints settings which should fix any mms problems. I have an alltel file readily available if you do not have sprint. If you have another carrier please let me know.

It has an application called start clean which erases info such as recent programs on every restart, it's not a bug, it's suppose to do that ;)

I'm using sprint. MMS isn't a necessity for me, but it's good to have.

So far this ROM is very stable and quick.

OK, can someone answer my question about the difference between the Custel 1.1 and dcd Rom? Is one better, more stable, faster? have more features, what? I'm afraid I'm still learning terms and am not familiar with such high level software. Also what is the procedure / process to install either if these programs? Thanks in advance.

You need opera mobile for pocket pc's rather than opera mini.

are you using Esmeretec Jbed Java? it's somewhere on these forums, that'll let you install opera 4.0, the standard jeodek one might not work.

I know that's not true, I'm using opera mini right now. The problem I was having was being able to download the jar file from opera's website; tried two different pc running xp using Firefox and IE and could not complete the download. finally i hopped on a notebook running vista and voila! I already knew about needing Esmeretec to install the files after downloading them. Thanks anyway. Your rom has been running stable and solid.

Some general feedback-

I'm running the 4mb page pool version of this and am liking it very much. I tend to load alot of crap (HTC Home, WP, various skins) and this ROM works much better than others I have tried.

Free memory after 24 hours of use: 22.11 MB

That sure beats the 15-17 I'd have available with the stock ROM.

I find this ROM to be quicker and more stable than the DCD ROM even though I prefer some of the features of DCD's.

The only suggestion I'd make is to switch up the Comm Manager some. I really like the way yours is graphically (on/off radio buttons), but I am used to having ActiveSync as an option on there. If there is a way to easily switch out the Beam for ActiveSync let me know.

Many thanks for this ROM and GREAT WORK.

*edit*
rzanology- I have a Sprint Mogul. SMS works fine, I have not tested MMS to make sure it works, but I do see the correct MMS settings are there. Internet worked out of the box, though it does say "Alltel Wireless". Creating a new connection named Sprint Wirless, and disabling the auto selection of what connection to use fixes this. The Alltel Wireless connection is persistent and comes back after a SR.

AFAIK the name of the connection is just Alltel. You are on Sprint's network, and when the phone dials up, it dials #777 and should stay on the Sprint network. I don't think you need to worry.

Free memory after 24 hours of use: 22.11 MB

That is nuts. Are you saying that this custom ROM virtually eliminates the memory leak on the mogul/titan/6800/p4000?? I've yet to use a rom that doesn't leak. That is crazy for running 24 hours. I need to try this out.

Noob question here... what's the difference between 4mb pagepool version and 6mb pagepool??

xweaponx
12th December 2007, 02:48 PM
Hi Custel...

I loaded your 6mb ROM onto my device and so far it is holding steady and stable. Response is snappy and memory usage holds a steady value even after hours of use.

BT seems to be working alot better; I have the Jabra BT8010 and before each time I wanted to connect, I had to go to profiles and click on each of the Hands Free AND Stereo Headset. Now when I turn device Bluetooth and headest on, the profiles AUTOMATICALLY load! It's great!

I was glad to see a few things deleted and simplified. This ROM fits my needs wonderfully. I have the following few apps downloaded:
HTC PLugin
HTC Home Customizer
HTC Dialer
Pocket Plus
SKtools
TCPMP
VideoBundle
Google Maps
TouchFlo
TouchFLoConfig
10 Button CommManager
Total Commander

There are a couple more in addition and the ROM runs with NO problems! I have the Alltel PPC6800 and I did want to ask if there was any specific .XML or other files that I might need? You know like perks, additions, etc?

Anyhow thanks for your hard work and I sent you a little something for your time! Keep up the great work!

xweaponx
12th December 2007, 07:17 PM
Curiously,

Could you create a ROM that does not include any of the but NECESSARY OEM apps found in the Extended ROM and make it easily accessible to store/retrieve content from there? In addition, remove the following:
Error Reporting
Regional Settings
Encryption
I
s it possible to setup the ROM files on the device for editing (copying, pasting, deleting, etc) even after it is flashed and running?

Thanks

I loaded your 4mb version but can't figure out MMS. I tried sending pics with your bone stock rom and tried installing the MMS cab but I can't figure it out. I noticed I have MMS config option under text messages tab but honestly I noticed that once I installed the cab.

I really love your rom as I booted up with over 28mb but on the otherhand I really do use MMS quite a bit that I can't go without it.

Any solution to MMS?

xweaponx
13th December 2007, 04:12 AM
You could try downloading the PPCGeeksMMS.cab and see if that re-establishes your MMS configuration. Do you have Sprint? Try searching for the Sprint version if you do...

I just flashed my phone to Custel's 1.1 rom (very nice) to play around and I noticed that now whenever I open an SMS message the phone automatically will scroll to the end of every message. This could potentially be an issue with another app I installed, but I'm apps that I've used before and never had this issue before.

Has anyone run into this before?

I get my phone tomorrow and will be likely spending the weekend modding...

Please keep me posted.

On a side note:
Looks like you and I are the only ACTIVE Newbie Verizon players out here. Maybe we should start a wiki for just verizon...Not here mind you....just a place to put what we KNOW works on VZW. I don't know, just thinking aloud. Seems like most stuff happens on the Sprint side and we just hang out and hope VZW gets in there....

or does it all pretty much work?

I used to be really active then got a Q 2 yrs ago and lost sight of all of this just started to delve back in. The reason there are more sprint is because sprint is a earlier adopter on PDA's then Verizon is plus sprints data rates are cheaper so more people jump to them.

I have my rapidshare page going with stuff I know works and will continue to update it as i confirm things.

I gave Custel a .rar full of things I wanted incorporated into the rom and him being the good guy he is has agreed to do it. Once it is done I will add to either his post or my own with a list of working things both those incorporated into the rom and those not.

I tried dcd's rom and it flew however I appeared to have a memory leak whether this was true or not I never confirmed as I ran across Custel's and after knowing him for many years figured it was only right to install his and I love great mix of things extremely fast no lockups whatsoever..

Couple Quickies about using Custel's fabulous Rom:

Was all the Verizon functionality retained? (MMS, SMS, PHone, etc?)
I wonder if there's a way to Unpack it and repack with software we'd like to have in RAM? (realize he will do it for you, but I'd hate to bug him)

That's all for now.

Thanks in Advance,
Matt

This rom is pretty good. I have 24mb left as long as I have QMenu and set the qmenu to ok button to fully close the app and the "x" as well.

One thing that bugs me a little is when I get a notification, any notification or reminder that i get, the left side where you tap to view the notification it flickers back and fort with my "contact" setting. so when i try to tap to view the notification i end up tapping on contact because it flicker back to contacts every split second. its irritating, also when you have reminders and notifications or missed calls the led light would flicker orange non stop until i view that missed call. well i deal with it once in a while but i was wondering if there is a way to get rid of that flicker thing in the reg or anywhere else
