As many posts already speak about that. Here are the .cab that work (P3300, ARTEMIS, with WM6)
MOST IMPORTANT is to format your actual SD card and future SDHC card with fat32 ! (backup data before)
DONT NEED TO FORMAT IF YOUR CARD IS ALREADY FORMATED WITH THIS FILE FORMAT.
You can then use any fat32 card you want after SDHC upgrade.
WM5torage 1.78b is working fine but slow for me after SDHC upgrade. Tell us if it run for you too.

Artemis running WM5 could be flashed too, with Certification .cab (.xml inside). I will post a link as soon as possible.

ANSWER!! Yes WM5torage is very slow, as it is not working as usual. Don't know if the creator of this program gonna upgrade it for SDHC use. This software is not so important for the use of your SDHC Card, that was just to say that it could work (very slow) with new SDHC drivers.

[WARNING] There was some problems after this install. Tell me if you got problems using this .cab --> SDHC_Artemis_back2original.cab are the original OMAP850.dll, SDBus.dll, SDMemory.dll for Artemis, so you can load it at any time to go back to your original settings without SDHC support.

[WARNING] [COLOR="Red"] there is a problem if you plan to flash with SDHC card inserted on your device. With USB wire too. Remove your SDHC card before flashing or hard resetting your device.

IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just bought the phone upgraded the ROM with original HTC WM6 ROM. Used the file as above. Pluged in my Micro SD and it works!!!!!!!

I had phoned HTC support for help as I bough the 6GB SDHC card when i bought the phone but couldnt get it to work, but was then told it doesnt support SDHC!

BUT IT DOES NOW!!!!

finally 4GB working on my P3300 WM6 (original HTC rom)

hoooooowever, the transfer through wm5torage is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow!

sais 2h. for 1GB thats way off normal. wasn't that slow with my 2GB card (didn't try the 2GB card with new driver tho)

anyways, when i got everything on my new 4GB card, i am gonna do some benchmarks, try the card from the phone itself... and if it's just the USB transfer that is hella slow... i can take that.

btw, when i saw wm5torage 178beta so slow i tried 175. it works, but same slow speed

rpb
16th November 2007, 08:47 PM
Thats a slow speed indeed. I have been copying files to fill my 6gb card since 6.45 just after my last post above. Its is now 7.40 and i have copied 1.7 GB.

Thats 1.7 gb an hour. Not a fantastic speed.

Im connected to a USB 2.0 port on my PC using Active Sync 4.5, connected directly to my P3300 (no cradle).

I didnt run all the files above though. All i ran was the first file SDHC_Artemic.cab

I didnt run the WM5torage file. Should i have?

Regardless it is working fine so far with out.

if you're used to transfer via active sync, you're perfectly fine.

wm5torage is just a program to convert your phone+sd card into some sort of "usb memory stick" so you can access your phones sd card on every computer without drivers.

This great thanks for the file.

One question - If my current SD card is already fat32 do I need to reformat it and then install the patch or can I just install the patch and upgrade the SD card to an SDHC card later?

Thanks

ok, USB transfer was slow, but worked. gonna see next days how syncing goes.

so, this worked great... except on my p3300 the GPS stopped working. u think there is something in this cab patch that could have affected that somehow?

First of all, Hi. I am new to this fourm and found it very helpful. Anyway, I can confirm that this works for my "O2 XDA Orbit" with 6GB card (FAT32 formatting), it has windows mobile 6 and the ROM version is "3.4.206.2 WWE". I have checked my GPS and Wireless adapter, they both seem to be working fine aswell.

Just to mention the WM5Storage, even before the patch, it was very slow for moving information in and out of the PDA. So I think that it needs an update for WM6 although I haven't yet tried the version that is attached in the very first post becuase alot of people are complaining about it so I didn't even bother, I just used the card reader that came with my card.

Thanks gguyaz for your excellent work.

My Window mobile 6 is official one from o2 itself. Hope it helps

Hi.

I have an O2 XDA IIs with WM6 CE OS 5.2.1620 build 18125.0.4.2.

I purchased a Sandisk 4gb SDHC micro SD card.

I tried to install the driver that you post here but it does not work and my XDA won't read my original Micro SD card 2gb.

I tried to uninstall the sdhc.cab and my XDA can read my 2gb micro sd card but still it wont read my SDHC 4gb card.

Sir, I hope you can help me with this so I can use my 4gb sdhc card.

Thank you in advanced.

Hi

I'm really interested in getting an 8gb card, not too bothered about wm5torage, even though it is a great tool. (why the hell didn't HTC put the card slot on the outer casing???!!?)

Has anyone done any bench testing? I want to know read/write speed in comparison to say, my Kingston 2gb. I'm running the stock WM6 ROM from o2 in my orbit.

If the speeds are similiar or the same for normal use then I'll be buying an 8gb :) :)

Now I try and use it on my Artemis after the SDHC patch.
The hassle is, I try to format it back to FAT32, but no-go. Tried thru WM5torage, tried FLASH.
I also tried SDformatter v2.0 on laptop....nada. manually deleted stuff off my ppc using Total Commander, it just appears back again.

My challenge is to get the MicroSD cleaned and reformatted to FAT32.

any good suggestions?

I have viewed so many posting (this and other sites) that say the patch does not work. Having had many unsuccessful attempts I can tell you it does work but... The device will NOT overwrite the DLLs in Windows automatically, you must rename sdbus & sdmemory first i.e. sdbusarc & sdmemoryarc etc. Don't even bother trying to remove the original or overwrite because it wont do it. You can check if its done it because the size of each file should be different. Once you have done that, run the prog again and you should have success! Thanks again to the creator. Why don't HTC build this in to an update? Good luck - Mark

Creator is M$ on the new WinCE 6.0 SDK, the things where just to use the new DLL as there were inside the pack.

Hi

Please could somebody give me an idea of data transfer rates, using the SDHC driver and WM5torage... ideally for copy mp3s (5mb per file) and avis (700mb per file.

I get the impression from others that it is the latency for seeking / writing a number of files, but large files are copied relatively quickly.

Try the new rom from meschle. All sdhc cards works with that rom.

..and installing this on top of meschle's rom will break your SD card access. if you're running artemis touch 3.01 to 4.01 then you don't need this.

Try the new rom from meschle. All sdhc cards works with that rom.

I run this great rom (cooked by Meschle) on my HTC P3300: Artemis Touch 4.01 WM6.1 WWE ROM, 5.2.19199 (Build 19199.1.0.0.

I can confirm that Meschle did build in SDHC support in this rom:
Quote from Meschle: "Bepe - many thanks for sdhc drivers, kitchen and all the tools and support!"

I did not need to install the .cab mentioned in the first thread (SDHC-Artemis.cab), I even think it should not be installed with this rom!

I just deleted the SDCONFIG.TXT file from my 2GB non-SDHC Card and immediately my device showed me the 8GB free space (7782.50 MB free space).

So my new Sandisk 8Gb SDHC runs perfectly with this rom.

WM5torage is quick enough to copy some smaller files.
I take the card out of the device, when I want to copy bigger files. Windows Vista recognizes SDHC in my builtin cardreader in my laptop, Windows XP does not.

It does work on my orbit... only not in windows media player. Storage card does not show up in the drop down list, only "My Device". Am I missing something ovbious? Since music is the only reason I got the 8GB card I would be gratefull for any help - loading each song one by one from file explorer isn't exactly ideal.

-edit-
Appears I was missing something ovbious, posted to soon - sorry. I had forgottern to "update libary". All my songs have now been found and it is working perfectly. Thanks.

And by the way I got my card here for £33: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143777

8GB Sandisk SDHC card working perfectly on P3300 using official WM6 ROM:

1. remove your memory card
2. copy the attached SDHC-Artemis.cab file to your MDA
3. find the file using file explorer and click on it to install
4. put in your SDHC memory card (make sure it is FAT32 formatted)

Hi,
I have a small problem...

First to introduce my device:
T-Mobile MDA Compact III with WM6 and "GB microSD card
ROM version: 3.14.119.1 WWE
ROM date: 9/19/07
ExtROM version: 3.14.119.104
WM6 Pro
CE OS 5.2.1620 (build 18125.0.4.2)

Ok.. Now.. I had problems (and still have) with installing iGO navigation SW (I got hardwareIDError) and I thought that this SDHC cab could solve the problem.
After I installed it nothing much happened. I still could not install iGO.
Then I wanted to go back and I installed SDHC_Artemis_back2original.cab.
Well, after that I could not see my microSD card anymore.

I reinstalled SDHC_Arthemis again and now I can see the card again, but I would like to go back to original again...

My question is it possible and can I copy files from another identical MDA and which files are that.

I hope you could understand my problem

Thanks

Alan

Problem is not SDHC drivers, the problem is with iGO8!

Yes you can copy them back to original driver with the cab on first post.

Just a bit confused with all the posts....I have the orbit running WM6 so will a 4/6/8Gb work without downloading the cab file (SDHD-Artemis-cab)? If not, downloading this cab file opens up about 6 files like set-up, drivers, sdbus etc so do I transfer all these to the storage card or to which file on the orbit? Thanks

It depends whether your ROM has this function built in or not.

If you are running the original ROM, then you cannot use a SDHC card. But if you are using self-cooked ROMs of, for example, Meschle or Tom_Codon etc.., then you don't have to install this cab file.

You can also make a test: Just insert a SDHC card in your PDA, open "file explorer" to find out if it "sees" the "storage card" or not.

I have just put an 8gb sdhc card in my orbit and it works perfectly. Got the card (sandisk) for £11.60 on ebay.
I'm running Meschle touch 4.02 full with cube.
I just copied everything on my old card onto a folder on my pc, then put the new card in my pc with a holder, and copied everything onto it. Put the new card into my orbit, started it, and it works fine - I can see 7780mb on the storage card.

I was expecting to need to faf about with it, deactivating copilot etc etc, but nothing happened - apart from loads of extra memory -brilliant.

As one of the previous posts said - it's using a rom that is sorted for sdhc.

I also tried the cab to go back, but the device worked no longer with sd card. I made a hard reset and all problems have disappeared.
Anyone had my problems, or all depends on a defective sdhc card?

Having read through all the posts on this subject I have no idea where to install these files. The file names referred to don't show up in windoze explorer.
The readme is not detailed enough to determine the useage of the files.
Please post instructions that explicitly list file locations and the files to use and insert.

Hi!!!
I'm Italian and i have HTC P3300 ARTE100 cpu OMAP850 201MHZ with wm6 professional operating system CE 5.2.1620(built 18125.0.4.2). I insert the microsd 8gb verbatim on sd adapter and the sd adapter on my pc. I verified that the microsd 8gb was formatted in fat32.(ok fat32 by factory). From my pc i copy the file sdhc-Artemis.cab on the main memory of my htc p3300(attention don't copy the cab on micro sd memory card).I turn off my htc p3300 and i insert the new 8gb class 4 verbatim micro sd.I turn on htc p3300 and with start-file explore- i search on the main memory of my htc p3300 the sdhc-Artemis.cab. I touch the file for install. i accept the condition and i install the file on the main memory of htc p3300.Automatic start the installing file and when finish, on the screen you can see :for finish you must restart the htc p3300.Touch on ok button.your htc p3300 automatic restart. When the restart processing finisch, you can see that htc recognize 8gb micro sd-
On my pc i use linux ubuntu 8.04 and for see te micro sd of my htc p3300 i use card export (is a share program that must installing on htc p3300 .about 15 € but it's good because all pc, mac, linux ,windows see your micro sd of htc how is an external usb memory).Card export work fine also the new micro sdhc 8gb. I am probably one of the last people to upgrade my old orbit but here is some info for those still having problems getting the SDHC cards to work in xda orbit.
I downloaded the 2 SDHC files above, bought a 4Gb from morrisons for just 5quid :D
I installed the driver (without the memory card in the phone), I put the mem card in my PC and it was already formatted as a FAT32, so I didn't format it, put it in my phone and it didn't even show up... one thing I noticed in the format dialog box was the FILE ALLOCATION SIZE was set to 32bytes, I changed this to DEFAULT ALLOCATION SIZE and formatted it... now it works :D:D:D

so if anyone is having problems, try that.

Hi, and may I say Sir - Like your work and have downloaded some of your skins to try.

Yes, this SDHC upgrade works, success on first attempt.

Will try to do more improvements on my Artemis, notably WM6.1 or 6.5.

Did the upgrade to wm6 and the sdhc cab two weeks ago and works fine.
However now I find my battery depleted after less than 10 hours or so giving the battery a very hard life and reducing the usability to nil. I switched off phone wifi, gps and everything but the battery still rapidly discharges.
Also set the wifi settings to battery optimised.

Any ideas on that one?

cheers

Yes, the likelyhood is your battery is dying. My O2 Orbit was fine then had rapid battery discharge. A new battery resolved the issue.

Okay thanks, that's certainly a possibility. Just a bit strange that this would happen after a major change/upgrade without being related, isn't it?
I installed some apps to load from the card and no doubts this uses energy. OTOH that's not different to my use of the XDA before moving ti SDHC.

Just to comment on this further. I have owned My XDA orbit for many years and have wanted to bring the software up to date. Much to my surprise, I now have the use of an SDHC card 8gig in size. Wooopie!

So much more can now be done with my fantastic phone.
