Softkey changer did not work just as I thought it only changed the one on the home screen not in the dialer app. I tried both versions I could find. However I have decided to install PocketCM and this properly overwrites the softkeys which negates my whole need to change em anyways.

Having a couple problems with the latest rom.

I am using verizon and randomly get a popup saying unable to initiate vision connection. Periodically it will also tell me it cant connect to the sprint network (no real big deal)

The dialer skin which you are already aware of.

The sip cannot be changed either (someone else mentioned) and randomly from time to time while going into things on the phone I will get a blank screen with a small freeze up I give it a second back out and then back into it and its fine. This was not the case with the clean Verizon rom u posted as well as the stock rom.

Keep up the good work cant wait for the next update.

i am not sure of a way to change softkeys in dialer. htc's phonecanvas dlls take over. ive fought the new smartdialing plugin to make the contacts key show up and its a pita.

the touchflo/cube stuff will never make it into my rom, but could be built with the kitchen.

as for SIP i dont know ill look into it.

!!!1.6.4 ROM Testing update!!!

After making a few BT Calls, I can report that my callers are telling me that it seems "about the same"

I talked with my fiancee for an hour or so, and she said it might not have been "as bad" but was still pretty choppy. Dang. On the good side I had a call for over an hour and it didn't drop.

I have also noticed that this rom doesn't have the Internet Sharing app in the programs folder. Also, it doesn't do anything when clicking the button in the comm manager.

I have had several lockups happen at random times, but not sure if it was just the app I was using, etc. If I remember correctly, it wasn't the same app everytime, but about three different ones: once yesterday in opera mini, once at the today screen, and another time where I can't remember.

Power consumption is really good. I have always used the Battery Status plugin. I keep my backlight three notches from the lowest to help conserve power. Idle consumption is around 70-90 mA, with the backlight dimmed it is around 39 mA or so. This translates to extra-long battery life. Thumbs up!

****EDIT - I am attaching some useful cabs (softkey changer included)****

BatteryStatusExt.1.04.CAB - Battery Status Today Plugin (if you use additional indicators, do NOT USE ANY OF THE WIFI OPTIONS - could cause lockups. This app is really nice to monitor battery usage and avail memory

Cloudyfa_EsmertecJbed.cab - different Java launcher, better than the stock version, works in full screen (opera mini is nice!)

mbuttonWM6.PPC_ARM.CAB - Magic Button Task Manager - can show open apps in the taskbar like windows, the X button is replaced with MB's own. It closes the app rather than minimizing it. I have used many task managers, this one I think is the best as I dont have to go into a menu to see what is open on the system. Try it out. New to this version supports gradients in WM6 so it blends well. This can be set to automatically start at startup, minimum ram usage

Softkey Changer.CAB - This will remap your softkeys to applications found within the programs directory. If you don't see an app you're looking for, create a shortcut to it using Total Commander, and place it in the programs folder under Windows - Start menu - Programs

Total Commander - probably the best file explorer / unzipper / registry editor I have ever used on the PPC, and it's free. what more could you ask for.

OxiosMemory.PocketPC.CAB - This is the best program I have ever used at freeing up memory. Pocket Mechanic, Memmaid, others pale in comparison to this freeware app. I use it regularly to get back up to the 25mb mark.

Let me know if you have any questions on any of these, and I can help.

Thanx for the response I have no problem adding things after the fact just makes it nice to have all in one. It's great what you are doing and the support u offer. Not to familiar with the kitchen maybe I will look at it.

But for now loving everything about the rom but what I mentioned and those are more quirks then disklikes.

I have installed PocketCM which overwrote all the contacts softkeys and while it is still a little buggy it is a very nice app overall.

Mainly man keep up the good work.

Got a email addy to send Donation's to?

Also I am using Radio 1.47 havent noticed any issues I have noticed some signal improvements though.

In response to the BT issue, my experience has been that no matter which ROM I use, if the phone is in close range the caller says the quality is just as good as when BT is off; however when the phone is more than 1.5feet away they say the quality drops substanially. I've even had this same problem on my old Typhoon.

All in all, I've had abouy 3 BT headsets and I have the same experience with all of them. BT and WM just don't very well together.

Other mitigating factors include the fact that BT and 802.11 use the same antenna and therefor having both on will cripple call quality as well anything else on the 2.4ghz spectrum can do some damage.

this is a good point - i hope everyone has wifi off while testing bt.

on the pc side, some wifi devices (generally broadcom) have a bt-compatibility feature that seems to eliminate this problem. i know there is a reg key that limits the wifi to 1mbit when bt is active...but i do not think the titans wifi card supports any bt compatibility mode.

theres another setting (baudrate of bt serial) that HTC seems to tweak between some rom versions that I want to play with, but I was awaiting initial feebdack.

Thanks for everyones bt testing...eventually ill get a headset to test...

As for the person who asked about donations, I appreciate it but I am not taking donations for my ROM work, most everything I have done was made possible by other people who deserve the credit more than me, and I do not want to ever feel obligated to continue this work, although I have no plans to stop. Thanks though...

On another note, in case anyone is wondering, if the BT is not better this time around than it was on aku 0.7 (seems everyone has 'about the same' results), I'll likely go back to the newer OS files...0.4.2 from the vogue was an experiment.

oops! i forgot it...

I am hoping its an application - I have not had any lockups since changing to this wm build - but I havent been using the device heavily either...I'll push it some. By lockups I take it you mean the device is frozen with picture on screen? I will be more worried if you say its not resuming from standby, but I'll test again either way...

For the second issue with the freezing, it freezes with a pic on the screen. I haven't experienced ANY issues with resuming from standby.

The lockups I am refering to are when going into the sytem menu's mainly where there is a drop-down box what happens is the screen will lock and when rendering the drop down box I hit ok and go back to it and bam its fine.

Haven't had any issues with resuming from standy except about 1 hr ago when using PDANET over BT I had the phone plugged into power screen shut off and I was unable to resume from standby however my Data connection with PDANET stayed active (had the same issue with Verizon's stock out of the box)
So I do not clasify this as a issue with your rom.

if you dont mind, when i get home I will pm you a reg edit, or .reg, or .cab (whatever you prefer) to make a certain change that may fix the problem, if you could test. i actually kinda hope it does not fix it, because i freed some ram by the change :)

Hey dcd...I tried the new 1.6.4 ROM and bluetooth seemed the same as with the previous ROMs...I did get excellent free memory as well after the flash at about 27.xxMB; unfortunately the dialer not closing annoyed me to the point that I switched back to your kitchen-made ROM.

Although, I had one question which has been bugging me. I loaded up the 1.6.4 ROM and on the today screen, there was a small Sprint logo where the HTC logo usually on the HTC_default theme. So, I liked that theme so i copied it and pasted it again in the ROM that I made with your kitchen and now that is back to displaying the HTC logo. Also when I first flashed your ROM (kitchen), it had dcd's clean rom instead of the HTC and ever since I changed the theme and change back, it brings up the theme with htc logo. This is the wierdest thing to me...what is going on??? ANyone else fill me in on this please??? The point is, instead of the htc logo, i like the theme with the Sprint logo...if someone can send that to me or tell me how to get that back. Thanks!

haha that is because i am doing something weird...
there are 2 files in sys that are the default wallpaper, landscape and portrait
i delete them both
then i include new wallpaper with same filename in carrier package, with logo
just something i threw together real fast

i believe the more 'proper' way to accomplish this would be to modify the autorun to change the theme to a .tsk of my choosing. for other reasons i prefer no autorun whatsoever.

this is something ill change down the road maybe

and to answer your question, for that reason there is no .tsk of that theme. the htc_default.tsk that i include is not modified, its htc's default theme.

also i know what you mean about hte vogue dialer i hate that... ive fixed the 'vogue clone' dialer again so its back in.

Hi, DCD:

I am using the 1.6.4 ROM and I love it!

However, I met a wired problem when I set the password (Lock), the date will become year 2080 and the clock will totally get messed up.

I did a hard reset and still have the same problem if I set up the password.

I don't know if others have the same problem though.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Okay okay, got it! :) Well then, tell me which files they are for the wallpaper. I saw two files in the Windows directory that seemed relevant. They are both portrait-htc-default.skn and landscape-htc-default.skn (or something on that line)...are those the files that you're manipulating? I mean, I wanna' duplicate what you did so if you wanna' just give me those wallpaper files in jpg then, I'll make it in to a tsk (theme)...the one with the Sprint logo.

Also, just a request but why don't you leave the default WM6 dialer in so that it is a complete clean ROM and is fully customizable; instead of putting in the Vogue/Touch dialer which can only be skinned according to its base and is irreversable to the default WM6 dialer. If we just keep the default dialer, people can install the Touch dialer and is completely skinnable and reversable. Think about it. ....and how about a time frame for the new ROM?? How about tomorrow or maybe even tonight???:D

dcd... i have been using this rom 1.6.4 for two days now... overall it's great... BT AD2P is perfect, but BT headset (w/ Jabra JX10) is not...

Also I cannot install any other third party keyboard software... it will install it okay, but when you choose the keyboard, it will stay the default WM keyboard.

I am not sure if you got my MSN... I figured the problem with my phone hangs when there is an incoming call. It's actually caused by the Advanced Configuration tool. It somehow overrides how the phone answers the call while it's on data connection... so if i'm on the data connection, any voice call will ring, but answer key will do nothing so the phone appeared to be hung until the voice mail comes up. So it's not your ROM problem but that specific.

One great reg hack could be included I think this one is a must.

To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)

* The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex'
* The 'IsEnabled' DWORD value should be set to '1' to enable OBEX and '0' to disable OBEX.

For example, to enable the ability to receive fles via Bluetooth

* HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabl ed = 1

A quick post to say that 1.6.1 clean is, AFAIC, the best ROM I used so far. I'm running it since you released it and all is so much smoother compared to stock rom (Telus WM6 dating back to July) and most other roms flavors I went through. Haven't tried BT (yet) but in terms of battery life, stability, responsiveness, signal, etc., all is working great and fairly stable for my use. Kudos and keep up with the excellent work!

Hey DCD,

just a quick question for you. Are you planning a rom release down the road that has the base with the working bt from the new sprint rom?

Ive loved both of the roms of yours ive tested at this point, and if you could do that, id imagine your custom roms would be THE rom to have by all. (if it isnt already)

I put the newest sprint rom on my mogul (for the internet sharing app and bt), and already hate it ;)

Ok I just took a look at the Kitchen and after looking at it closely I realized how simple it really was I was thinking there was alot more to it that I was missing. I do still have one question for you.

When you throw up the kitchen is that the rom you are using (including reg tweaks/hacks or is this a clean (stock rom) with no edits?

hey dcd, i think 1.6.4 is missing internet sharing which i use with chainfire's great WMwifirouter
also can anyone confirm freezes when viewing videos on tcpmp? thanks

KNOWN ISSUES: vogue dialer doesnt close all the way. will change, this is just a bt test.

Hey DCD,
Thanks for all your hard work! I've been using your ROMs since I had my apache. I wanted to know with the 1.6.4 version, why there is no MMS option. Should I just flash back to 1.5.7?

Thanks in advance!

Downloaded 1.6.5 Great Clean Release

Like it a lot, as usual for a DCD release :)

Internet Sharing is included in programs folder. X-button is not pre-installed, no big deal. Forgot to test if LED Killer was in there, installed it anyway.

24mb RAM after 1st startup (rom update) and activesync was running on ppc (not pc)

Running Radio 1.40

I went ahead Installed following:
Threaded SMS
Voice Command 1.6
HTC Home
HTC Home Customizer
Rescoe Explorer
Esmertec Jbed
Gmail (for jbed)
opera mini 4 (for jbed)
X-Button 1.5
Led Killer 3.1
Google Maps

Guess what? RAM is still 24mb Free AFTER all installed and rebooted :)

Great work DCD, once again...

I will update as to battery performance later..

i am glad you asked
i am probably an idiot for not keeping a changelog until now
from here forth there is one
i have also decided i will now only use carrier roms. the latest i have right now is 0.4.4. i guess the touch dual has 0.5, but i cant find it... i have yet to see a true 0.7 carrier rom. not trying to put down the work of the masters who have released 0.7 to us, but im liking the carrier roms ive seen.

ive also noticed alot of xip dumps where the only thing ported was coredll.dll. id rather port all of msxipkernel and i know the carrier roms are not hybrid there.

changelog for 1.6.5
this is really my kitchen changelog. at some point, the rom and kitchen releases will be aligned.

- 12-14-07 Changed OS to 1622/18128.0.4.4 ported from HTC Kaiser official ROM
- 12-14-07 changed default.hv and user.hv to blank hive's pre-build. Do not know if this makes diff in hive after build (stale entries)
need to investigate whether hive files are packed back into, or overwritten (overwrite would mean this change is meaningless)
- 12-14-07 changed NetCF3.5 package in SYS to proper working version
- 12-14-07 removed vogue dialer, vogue clone dialer back in
- 12-14-07 replaced top screen of dialer progress screen with black space, more theme friendly
- 12-14-07 added Camera 4.05.27086.00 extracted from 2.14 ROM
- 12-14-07 added WM6 dialer package

Search for "cloudyfa esmertec jbed" on this forum and many others. You will find it.

Go to google.com in IE and download the gmail app AFTER you installed the jbed

Once again, HTC Home can be found almost everywhere on forums. You can also get home customizer...

I must say I installed this last night and its running great not as snappy as custel's 1.1 but right now I have 2 device's one running yours and one running custels and the both matched perfectly in memory usage. Yours has about 2-3 mb's more but they both stay steady. His is a tad bit faster could this be because he is using a 6mb pagepool? Havent had a chance to test battery life yet will do that this weekend.

Oh yeah for others who are wondering I am using Verizon and have not run into yet that I cannont do *228 works all the # numbers work as well and I was able to send and receive MMS already.

1.6.7 is Great!!!!

This is not really an issue with your ROM per se, but in other Custom ROM's that I've tried, Pocketcm Contacts would come up when hitting the contacts button from within the dialer screen. I thought I saw somewhere how to do this, but I can't find it now. I'm running it on a VZW 6800, and after a little trouble setting up MMS (which seemed to resolve itself.. ), it runs great. I loaded it down with some of the most memory hogging apps I could find..

All the HTC stuff.. cube, touchflo, home plug, album, audio, etc
Phonealarm
Pocketbreeze

Weatherpanel w/Phatfinger

I hope this question hasn't been posted before and that the way I phrase it makes sense.

When I open a text message, the screen automatically is scrolled all the way to the bottom. It is annoying to always have to scroll up to see your text, who it was from, the time, etc. as opposed to the text opening the way everything else opens, with the screen scrolled up to the top.

Does anyone have this problem or a potential solutions?

Thank you!

Been running since its release and i've got to to say excellent job. I am a little interested in what upping it to a 6mb pagepool would do with it as far and speed and ram. As I said I currently have 2 devices one running Custel's and one running dcd's latest. Custel's is much snappier however it appears to use more ram I think this is due to the larger pagepool. Is this y u stayed at 5mb?

I didn't had (noticed) that issue under 1.6.1 and 1.6.5 (for the short time I used the later). But with 1.6.7, can't set brightness level with HTC Home 2.1.x installed. Haven't tried with Schap's one (2.0.x) as it seemd to have serious memory leak. 2.1.x feels more stable and less leak-proned.

Edit: For the records, exact version is 2.1.1005722

If you have in mind to do a *full* backup of a pre-1.6.7 rom and restore it on 1.6.7, you're running after troubles. Don't do that! The only 'safe' full system backups are those taken and reapplied on *same* ROM version. Backing up documents (ie pics, movies, internet favorites, etc.) should pose no problem though.

I want to thank everyone involved with this forum for the amount of knowledge and insight everyone helps provide. Specail thanks to dcd for all his hard work... it is truley appreciated.

now for the question...

ok please take it easy on me, this is my first post and i did do some searching first...

right now i have the stock vx6800 with a bunch of custom apps installed. i would like to make a backup of my phone before i flash to dcd's latest rom.

can someone point me in the right direction as far as backing up my current rom and radio? Ultimately being able to back up everything (rom, radio, docs, apps, and settings) in one step would be nice, but i could always reinstall my apps and copy my docs again if that can't be done.

thanks

Might be a dumb question here...but I have the Verizon 6800. Does this ROM work for Verizon's phone? Are there specifics on which ROM would work on which server? Thanx for the help. Definately learning mucho on these forums.

Yeah, kind of a bad question, since this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350539) was created for a Verizon ROM.

the carrier differences are minor. this is built for sprint but it would install and work on an xv6800. soon, the kitchen will have an option to build the same rom for verizon.

Hey DCD...1.6.7 is awesome! After a full day of use with tons of stuff installed, I am staying at ~23MB. I think ever since you released it (after I flashed), the lowest it has gotten is ~22MB. I see absoultely no memory issues whatsoever. However, there are two issues which caught my attention:

1) There is a significant lag in the dialer after each key press. Again, as my recommendation from before, just use the original WM6 dialer. I know you said it would be a selectable option in the kitchen but it doesn't hurt to leave that in, in the "clean" ROMs either.

2) Internet Sharing does not work with USB or Bluetooth PAN. The PC just will not recognize the device when Internet Sharing is started. I tried it on both Windows XP and Vista machines. On Vista, I tried with both x86 and x64 versions. If someone else can duplicate this, I'd appreciate it so we know for sure.

Overall, an awesome ROM. I've been using it with 1.47.01 and the new PRL 60611.

we are in the minority wanting the wm6 dialer.
the dialing lag is due to DTMF tones.
I have disabled DTMF tones via registry but the change doesnt hold when using the htc dialer. no idea why...if anyone else knows let me know.
The change does work when using the wm6 dialer, but everybody else seems to want the vogue dialer so it stays.
you should be able to go into phone settings and change keypad: off and the lag goes away.

Thanks for the response dcd and angellt. You're right, the lag does go away after turning off the key tones. As far as the dialer is concerned, that's fine, we'll wait for the completed kitchen.

Also, dcd, let me know what you come up with on the Internet Sharing thing. Again, its both USB and Bluetooth.

Yeah, I saw that thread as well. But as dcd said on the thread "I threw this together in free time. I will not support it, I will not update it, I will maybe never look at this thread again." Thought maybe I find a rom that is supported and improved on and such. That and I also just asked the question to learn.

Hey guys,
Love the new ROM, but need help figuring out 2 things.
1. I am in the Central time zone and the clock is always an hour ahead after a reset. I have to manually set it back every time.

2. When I try to beam something from the Contacts the phone freezes. Have to reset to get it to function again?

Thanks for the help.

I have a few dumb questions, if someone wouldnt mind answering them. first, this is WM5 right (just curious, I am new to mogul and have only tried 2.17 so far)? second, is there anything i need to do before installing this rom? I have seen some stuff alluding to an "unlocker" and something called "hard-spl". What are those, and are those necessary/recommended?

thanks guys for putting up with my dumb questions

This rom is WM6, and contains oem drivers from 2.17 with better bt fix, and volume. First, before using this rom, you need to unlock your phone, and yes it necessary to install the "hard-spl" before upgrading to this rom or else it will not not work. The "hard-spl" enables your mogul to accept these custom roms from xda or ppcgeeks. Follow link for instructions on how to unlock your phone.

im in CST and mine works ok. is sprint your provider? you are leaving the timezone set as central during the welcome setup right? have you tried a manual sync with network time under phone settings? try that and let me know if it corrects the clock.

2. why would you beam something?!?!? i havent tested anything with IR (ever) but i havent removed anything relevant, to my knowledge. is it just disabled?

I dont know if this is an issue with the latest 1.6.7 rom or my software but It seems that if I try to multitask, applications which are still running in the background tend to close themselves out. For example, Internet explorer, if I am browsing a site and I switch to the phone application or any other application such as text messaging, outlook or media player, IE will then shutdown and vice versa. Could this be part of some sort of memory management to prevent the phone from using up all of its memory (Hibernation?) It never used to happen with any other rom (1.6.6 and below). Please advise. Thank You.

This happens when u reach your max on memory the device will autoclose apps to allow the app you r trying to run proper memory. This is a setting provided by Windows Mobile I am not sure if this can be changed or not.

I've been running this ROM for a few days now. I can't really think of very many issues that I have had with it, but I have noticed that a couple of times my phone will just turn on the screen when it is not being used. This may not be a problem with the ROM and rather a problem with an app I have installed, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

That said, many of the roms say they have taken the Sprint junk out of the roms...does this include the Sprint Music Store? Which service are you on? I got MMS outgoing working copying over the server settings from the original ROM. I still can't get incoming MMS to work, keep getting stupid iOTA errors.

Anyone have a solution for recieving MMS messages over Verizon with this ROM? I tried copying over almost all the reg. settings and it just won't work. I've make discovery about MMS error for the VZW user about no can receive, but can send by MMS.

iOTA is built in,,
so, it always first try contact sprint IP instead of whats inside "VZW setting" to check its ok receive this MMS. So, I change registry setting for ArcSoft.

Setting I make are:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
"X-VzW-MDN"="4235551212"
"User-Agent"="utstar67kv1"
"Accept"="application/vnd.wap.multipart.related"
"Accept-Language"="en"

But, everytime I run ArcSoft... ArcSoft make me new key:
"X-Alltel-MDN"="14235551212"

So,,
I try delete X-Alltel-MDN, but it always come back.
So,,
I try change X-Alltel-MDN to 10 digit, but always go back 11 digit.

So then, I delete IOTA in Program Files and make a soft reset.

Next, I delete all IOTA key in registry,,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction \IOTA
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\File Explorer\(String)LocalPath
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\PhoneExt\DataFailCode\ (String)1012 <-- not delete this, its just errar code.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\MASD\(String)IOTA

But, it's a MMS built for Sprint, so always gonna check that iOTA first.

So,,
Still send MMS, but no receive cuz it thinks its Alltel and want to use iOTA by Sprint @ 11 digit phone number. This ROM.. I think it must be cooked by Verizon MMS setting. Still no idea how it thinks I am Alltel...... It thinks this from the very first time I use this ROM lol

So far, so good, dcd. I've reloaded my standard kit and even was able to get the keyboard to run! And how nice of you to release it on my birthday. ;)

Thanks again for all the effort!

DCD, I've been watching your roms and using them since 1.5.1, and I am currently running 1.5.3 custom still. Why? Honestly none of your others have been anywhere near as stable or included everything I like. Furthermore (while I have some practice as building roms for the trinity and hermes) the roms for the 6800 seem to be quite "finicky" in such that I have been unable so far to integrate everything I want into a newer base without the same problems your own kitchen causes if I try to add them via that. Have you noticed any problems? (Specifically x-button and htc home I always want built in). Any tips would be great!

I tried a different wallpaper as my today background with the HTC Default theme. Decided I didn't like the new one and wanted to revert to the old wallpaper. If I reload the HTC Default theme the wallpaper is the standard HTC wallpaper.

So I've been hunting around the ROM looking for the original Sprint wallpaper that displays after you flash. In the windows folder I located Default_stwater_240_320.gif and tried to set that as my background with 0% transparency, yet it displays with a slight amount of transparency (5% or so) and doesn't look as nice as it used to.

Is there a different file I should use as a wallpaper to get it to look like it did after the flash?

Hoping someone can help me here...

I have a verizon xv6800. I ran olipro's unlocker, and I got to the bootscreen that said I am unlocked. I then tried to run dcd's rom, and it got to 26% and returned an error on my PC. I did the "recovery" steps, and it brought me back to the bootscreen, but it is now showing "SPL-1.04.0000" and not the unlocked version. For the longest time I couldn't get out of this. I found the "titan bootloader exit" from imcokeman on ppcgeek, and that got the verizon splash screen to come up, but the phone stops there and never gets past the verizon screen.

Now I can't do anything. My computer sees that something is connected on usb, but activesync doesn't pick it up. I cannot unlock the phone, I cannot get dcd's rom to load, I cannot get the phone to boot up. I am completely stuck and out of ideas. I have spent the last few hours reading every post on every bb I can find. Any ideas???

First, have you tried to enter the bootloader mode manually (instructions here (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes))?

You also might try some of the "bricked" steps.

magoo66
23rd December 2007, 08:58 AM
Yes, I can get into the bootloader screen no problem. It shows "TITA100 SPL-1.04.0000." Can't do anything there, though. Since it's not unlocked, dcd's rom won't go (doesn't get past 0%), and since activesync won't detect it, I can't try unlocking it again.

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say try the "bricked" steps... I have tried everything I have read.

I found a link to an original vzw rom, it is a "nbh" file. I am currently trying to figure out how to install it. Anyone have a link to instructions?

dcd1182
23rd December 2007, 09:01 AM
you could extract one of my roms, delete the nbh, and put that vzw nbh in the folder and flash.

when you originally ran the unlocker, i do not think you fully unlocked it.

magoo66
23rd December 2007, 09:28 AM
I agree that the unlock didn't go through all the way. Please bear with me as I learn this stuff. I am competent, but new to this.

How can I get the original nbh that I have installed on my phone? How can I extract yours and put mine in? Do I need a special program to do that? I read somewhere to put the nbh file on the microsd and boot into the bootloader and it will install, but that doesn't work for me.

Just run the unloacker again. It will work when you are in bootloader mode.

magoo66
23rd December 2007, 07:49 PM
Nothing happens when I am in bootloader mode. I run the unlocker on my computer, and it just sits there and nothing ever happens. It does say it needs to be connected to activesync, which I am not. Is there a version of the unlocker that can be run without an activesync connection?

Does your screen on your device show USB when you have it plugged in?

magoo66
23rd December 2007, 09:27 PM
yes, it does. When I try dcd's rom, it gets to 0% and fails, so at least I know the computer can communicate with the phone. However, the unlock tool doesn't do anything.

Hey DCD, been trying your rom for a while now, want to check in for a bit and say this 1.6.7 ROM is the absolute best, great memory management, 17-18 mb, very stable, all the problems as far as I can tell are fixed and we have a winner, hope things only get better from here after the GPS and Rev/A update. Wanted to thank you for the work you put in and wish you the best in the new year.

DCD. Just one piece of feedback. I just switched from 1.6 to 1.67 and S2U2 is not behaving.

Before the sliding bar was animated, now it is not, and sliding the keyboard out would automatically switch to landscape mode.... now it doesnt.

Trying to change settings on S2U2 also causes the pda to lock up.

Verizon deemed it dead and gave me a new one. Now I'm hesitant to try this again for fear of the same result. However, I really want to learn this stuff and utilize my phone to the max.

Is there a good tutorial, or step-by-step instructions on what to do from start to finish to put a custom rom on? Is it unlock --> run rom updater, and that's it? After the unlocker was finished last time, it wanted to put on a rom at that moment, but said I could use any rom, is that when it's ok to run dcd's clean rom? Are there any special steps in there?

Thanks for all the help, I'm trying to play catch-up with this new technology (to me).

you never unlocked the first one. probably nothing was wrong with it. your issue is using the unlocker, not roms. please, re-read the unlocker thread and ask questions about unlocking there. your phone is not unlocked when you see 1.10-olipro. you need to see 1.20-olipro. its been covered in this thread several times now and i also linked you to the proper thread for that discussion.

DCD,

In the first 1.6.7 ROM that was missing the on screen symbol pad, you had an icon in the programs that included a bunch of sites like youtube to watch streaming video. I really liked having that all in one place, but the newest 1.6.7 doesn't have it. Any way to get that from you and add it in?

are you sure about that? i think it was probably added by a cab you installed. i dont have a package with anything like that. i do have a youtube cab floating around that includes some links like that, maybe you installed that?

maybe you're right.

I'll mess around and see if it wasn't included with one of the programs I installed.

It wasn't a program, it was just a shortcut in the programs folder that opened a webpage that was laid out really convenient for the most popular video sites.

Has anyone tried the latest Slide 2 Unlock with this rom?
It seems that whatever graphics routines S2U is using, this rom is having issues with it. The app and its configuration tool (which also uses the same interface) won't operate properly, very often giving a black screen, or just not updating the screen when you do anything.

I'd say its the app, but this works fine on Moguls running stock firmware!!

I'm baffled...

Question: is this normal, or abnormal behavior (does it do this in the stock rom?)
When you use the HTC Home and press the contrast button and set it to the lowest brightness setting the backlight keyboard does not light up when in landscape.
However, when you set it to the second, third and fourth highest setting (50,75, and 100%) the keyboard lights up. Not an issue at all, but I wonder if this is a DCD Rom thing or is just a general ROM feature as a result of setting the contrast <25%. Thanks.

It turns off the keyboard light on the lowest screen lighting when using the stock ROM. So it isn't an artifact of DCD's work.

Dude! I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and guess that you are still working on that last sam adams...

Option one (easy): Go back one page, look down one post.
Option two (less easy): Look at the brown menu bar and find the search link. It's the one that says "Search". Type in "dcd kitchen".

I would suggest that you have a nap followed by a couple cups of nice strong coffee prior to making your first kitchen.
