with all due respect m3oulla,
1st: currently, there are only two available roms flashable to enable 128Mb RAM on Uni; mamaich's & Lt.Cmdr.Ivan. so, if KOR is right then nncuong's ROM is the third!
2nd: currently, there are only three rom cooks who had managed to enable flash disk in their roms; mamaich & nncuong (nncuong claims that his flash disk was initially based on @anonymous rom. so, @anonymous must be the the 1st).
why the fuzz about flash disk?
1. in KOR's case, he can install the10Mb arabizer in a faster storage than SD Card. in mine, i install and access fast all the commonly big programs in it!
2. try to remove the SD Card in the slot & check how much program memory you gain - at least 1Mb! insignificant if you have 128Mb upgraded uni but so much for a standard 64Mb uni.
in all cases and in my opinion its TITANIC!!! :p
cheers bro, hope to see Flash Disk (specially since your ROM is vanilla) & 128Mb RAM support in your next ROM.

What a catchy name. Read the book and saw the movie. It is brilliant! :)
I believe that N. N. Coung has released all his prior ROMs here until his last v2.11.10, starting from v2.11.05.

i made my peace with mo3ulla, i learned the reason behind his comments & i think he got my point.
if you haven't tried the rom yet, here's my comment:
CE OS 5.21933 (Build 18533.0.7.1)
Support 128Mb RAM based on mamaich patched ROM
30Mb ++ available RAM upon soft reset
22MB Flash Disk available
Plain Vanilla with Mobile Office (minus one note)
PocketRAR, Oxios App, pBAR (Viet language)
working WPA-PSK/TKIP
most if not all basic functions working
speed: as in my previous post = tops!
stability: yet to see if it beats JW & Ivan's ROMs. so far so good!
aesthetics: standard. BeastyLeo ROM tops in this area.
overall: not a good ROM for the leecher who wants everything installed but good for one who want to customize his own ROM.
Cheers !

Hi Leo,
I only get email headers & I don't use much of the Uni's camera except some snapshots & short video recordings (5 mins) which stores on DCIM folder in SD. I don't have problems with both & yet have to see the camera buffer overflow error. Storage is also unhidden because i use it to store ringtones.

Hi Leo,
I rechecked & found out that the last video & pics i shoot under this ROM was stored under \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures for fotos & \Storage Card\My Documents\My Videos for videos. Sorry about that.
But then, the point is it doesn't conflict with Flash disk or the unhidden Storage (Extended ROM). The only program I'm aware of that conflicts with Storage & Storage Card is the old Dopod SMS Backup. Backup won't write on SD when selected but otherwise would backup on Storage.
Would be good news if you will activate Flash Disk in your future ROMs. But probably you can only get 22Mb if it's near Vanilla as mamaich's ROM had only 16Mb Flash Disk after AdobeLE & transcriber (if i remember it right) was cooked with the ROM.
Also, please patch the ROM to be 128Mb RAM aware. It would only be a while before everybody has a 128MB RAM in Uni. For now G3 owners had it & it will be in a short while when mamaich's patched G4 ROM will be out!
Looking forward to a BeasyLeo ROM with 128Mb RAM support, Flash Disk, cool Dial Pad, etc. etc. etc.
Cheers & thanks for sharing your works here.

But it's great news storage of cam and email attachment doesn't conflict with Flashdrive.

Hi catch-22,
Yes the things you mentioned, and other things if I too remember about mamaich's ROM that he also had Windows Live, Windows Live Messenger and Streaming Video. This probably made up the difference in 6MB.
If I understand it correctly, the good news is that in the past the ROM cooker had to cram in as many programs as he/she can. If not than it made the rest of the space as wasted.
The users probably didn't use some of the programs included by cookers and due to cramming of the software the Universal was bloated to start with. Thus, probably came the idea of Kitchen ROMs.
With Vanilla ROM and no wasted space, which is provided as Flash Disk, it gives the user to cook his own in Universal. A very easy procedure.
The ROM by N. N. Coung in this thread has to begin with:
Main Memory: 41MB
Flash Disk: 23MB
ExtROM: 10MB
The above gives me about 74MB to install any programs that I want (just like Kitchen ROMs). Have very few program and with faster speed. Or sacrifice some speed to cram as many programs as one wants to.
After cramming almost all the programs, I have still left about 20MB out of the 74MB.
Thus, I have used about 54MB for programs and my poutlook. The list of software on my Universal is exhaustive

Hi dagosjt,
What I understand that hiding the comm. manager increases the memory leakage, no matter whose ROM you use.
I am not sure if it is true or not. But you can do some testing on the memory leakage based on hidden or un-hidden comm. manager.

Hello KOR,
Unfortunately I've not so much time to play with ROMs :-)
I'm reinstalling my favourite programs, and after I'll finish and I'll really start to use my Universal again in "normal" way I'll do the test.
By the way, my little review for now:
- First of all, I just updated my signature to reflect the new ROM, it fullfills all my own needs and I don't think I'll change it, at least until a ROM with working videocall.
- I can have more than 30 Mb RAM if I want, and if I find somebody able to upgrade RAM to 128, ROM is ready!
- With "heavy" plugins like SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Diary and other, memory stay stable around 24-25 Mb
- Doing a lot of tasks like installing many programs, configuring them, and continuing to "work" (answer calls, etc etc) memory went down around 18 Mb. I consider this very very good, because phone never freezed or requested soft reset and was always very snappy. This never happened with other ROMs, even if I didn't try every ROM.
- Battery was around 70% after 8 hour, and I used phone for at least 2 hours, always considering installation and call times. This mean I can easily reach end of day doing everything I want, and this never happened with my past ROMs.
- Never missed a call and never lagging in my answers
- I can install all my favourite programs in Flash Disk, and this is very important for me because I noticed that when Main Memory start to become little, phone start to be always more sluggish. So for example I can install my favourite photo viewer or music player "inside" phone, so letting me to swap SD card to hear some friend's music or photo using my favourite software.
- I used the standard bluetooth to connect GPS and everything was perfect and without hassle, not like other WM6 ROMs I tried in the past.
- What is a problem for others (ROM too "vanilla") for me is an advantage. If I really need Java, MMS, VoiceCall, A2DP I can install, and if some bug are solved simply changing software version I can reinstall it without needs to re-burn the ROM (and reinstalling EVERYTHING).
- The only important advice I have is to use a good backup software so you can make all modifications you need and don't lose them!
As promised, I'll test the memory leak with or without the comm manager in tray bar, but I think this will happen next week.
If meanwhile somebody has some question, I'll be happy to answer when I'll be able :-)

Hi dagosjt,
Beautifully said! Yes, it is very fast, stable, virtually no memory leak and with lots of storage on the Universal for installing softwares.
I believe, one way to test the ROM is to stress the ROM by putting all most all the needed software.
No doubt, thanks are due to N. N. Coung for such a beautiful ROM. He is an excellent person and very helpful too! :)
Thanks,
KOR! :)
catch-22
20th November 2007, 04:57 PM
So there are 3 of us "stuck" in this vanilla ROM! ;)
Nice review dagosjt & I confirm all you mentioned as well.
It's now the third day since KOR leaked the link & I'm still at 22.1Mb program memory after normal use that includes PIE on WiFi (WPA-PSK/TKIP), bluetooth headset while mobile, daily doze of texting & in/outgoing phone calls, etc., etc.
There has never been a freeze or a forced soft reset for 2 days. I have a minor problem with pocket eSword program not displaying the verses but otherwise ok with the daily devotional which is what i normally use. Will check this nag during the weekend.
Will test GSM reliability during a foreign trip tomorrow to see if roaming & frequent gsm provider switching will cause gsm crash. I'll let you know.
As a vanilla ROM that I customized for business use, this ROM is solid as a rock! The beauty of this vanilla ROM is it can be customized to suit the kind of user you are without enforcing personal preferences of either the developer/modifier or a particular set of users. Indeed this is the fastest and most stable rom, I have encountered so far.
Infact, so damn stable that I'm scared of trying the latest one from B&L.
Because I really had a lot of troubles with almost every "new" wm6 rom.

Hello all,
Now im not a newbie, but here comes a newbie type of question.
Ive just flashed this rom and it seems nice and snappy. Now I know that storage is just general memory on our devices, and that a storage card is what we use to put programs and files on. but what is flash disc for on this rom. why does storage show up on memory settings/ storage card drop down as 9.93 mb yet main storage is a different amount? I just want to use it all to maximum advantage.
Many thanks

hi Jay,
storage that u see in settings is the unhidden extended rom, normally used as a cab storage for operators to store their customisations.
flash disk, which currently only works on G3 devices, utilises the free space in the rom image to give you slightly more storage space.
cheers,
Beasty

Very true. At present if one takes all the latest Windows 6 ROMs for Universal 64MB on this forum, N. N. Coung's ROM is the stablest, fastest, has no crahses, and has 74MB storage for programs and documents on the Universal itself and not on the SD card!
With due respects, try to put about 54MB programs on any other ROM beside N. N. Coung's ROM on a 64MB universal. Impossible!
Now, test N. N. Coung's ROM with 54MB programs and any other ROM on this forum with 30MB programs. Check the result to see, which one is the fastest, stablest and no has crashes!
Of course, future with be different and we are just talking about present!
No disrespect to any ROM cookers and/or any members on this forum!

Hi there,
Is there a way to send you PM. Your user profile doesn't allow this!
Yes, the most recent version is 2.0 Build 342. I don't know what you mean by external keyboard, as I have English only keyboard (hardware) on both of my Xda Exec and Jasjar.
Though, Jasjar bought in Middle East has dual keyboard (hardware), both English and Arabic.
I use software Arabic keyboard, the one supplied by Arabizer. Also, Resco keyboard (software) has several languages, including Arabic.

Hi pa3x,
Do you have a G3 device? If you do than you must try this ROM as it is for G3 device only and one of the finest ROM so far for 64MB Universal.
The whole idea is that you don't need to upgrade your Universal to 128MB. With this ROM you get 74MB storage for installing software and for documents.
However, here is the link for upgrading your Universal to 128MB:

King of Rapture™

Hi,
Since you are using Jasjar, therefore you get the Imaginet Arabizer free. This free version is hard coded for Jasjar devices only.
So download the Jasjar's Middle East ROM from the i-mate site. Extract it and take out the ms_.nbf (Extended ROM).
Use this ms_.nbf (Extended ROM) with N. N. Coung's ROM (nk.nbf) from this thread and upgrade your Jasjar again with this 2 ROMs.
After installing the ROM and hardresseting the first time, the ExtROM from i-mate will install the Arabizer for your Jasjar plus the local settings for your service provider. You don't need any serial key for the Arabizer.
The latest i-mate ROM for Jasjar is JASJAR ARBRom v1.30.82 Radio v1.09.00 ExtROM v1.30.171.
You only need the ExtROM v1.30.171 from it.

If you downloaded it from this thread from the very first page than it is not beta.
BTW, after you install the Arabizer and the local provider, you can than unlock the storage (ExtROM) and copy the contents of it to your PC for future installations. You can than erase the contents of storage (ExtROM) and use the extra 10MB for software installation and/or for docments.

We are the world :D We are using UNIVERSAL. No only one country. No nationalist.
All ROM are cooked from source of MS and HTC, and me not exception. I thank all for tool and source. I cooked my ROM for my friend in Vietnam only. MS doesn't support Vietnamese and Vietnam location, so I cook it by my self. I removed all is useless for Vietnamese as MMS, Video call, Transcriber, Windows Live, Java, Voice, .... And you can install it by yourself. My principles are simply, fast, more memory and storage, friendly :D

I confirm all the first good impressions about this rom. As i said before, I don't like to burn every ROM (well, I don't have all this time :-P), so mainly I decided to try this one mainly for Flash Disk opportunity.
As nncuong said (thanks a lot friend! ) even if many things are missing, I was able to install all that I really need.
But I've to say I'm really surprised about overall performance!
I can say my phone is quite full of applications, many of them running in background, and RAM start at 25 Mb and during day estabilished around 21/21.5. Only using "MyMobiler" software RAM go down around 14/15, but phone is always snappy, and I've really absolutely no problem. Moreover, using the included Oxios Hibernate, RAM come back around 19 Mb after closing "MyMobiler".
Never an unwanted soft-reset.
Battery is life very very good, it was still 35% in a very busy day when usually I couldn't arrive home from work. It was 53% in that moment and after I still used a lot the phone unitl I went to sleep. I never noticed fast discharge below 50% like I'm reading it's happening in other ROMs...
So last hope is a cab one day for videocall :-D. Now I really don't feel the need to upgrade to a bigger battery or more RAM!
By the way, really no war against all the developers who put a lot of effort creating new ROM. This is the "perfect" for me and some other, but other have different needs, so they will choose different ROMs after evaluating all the pros and cons.
So, thank you to everybody here! ;)

Your ROM is good (if not among the best around) that it deserves a place among the stickies in here.
I hope you don't mind starting up a thread & a formal announcement.
@To all who thinks (specially the one who PM'd me) that this forum should just be about "focus on ROM development, avoid fights/discussions, blah, blah, blah".
You are wrong mate, behind those developers are PEOPLE too, so stop separating the work (ROM) from the worker (ROM developer). A popular member passed away a couple of months ago who we might have helped if probably we are not just busy "focusing on just his works".
My point is (before I get flamed & misunderstood again):
There is a nicer way to express your thoughts & feelings without being arrogant.
Not the way mo3ulla did (peace man) neither the way ultravox did with his blah, blah, blah comment.
I rest my case & will not respond or feedback anymore on the issue since NNCuong has now finally expressed his thoughts & personally defended himself. :p

Hello, first "problem" with this ROM... At least I think it's a third-part software problem more than a ROM one, but...
Ok, if I try to install Arcsoft MMS, camera stop to works, not regarding battery or free RAM remaining. It's like software try to start, after close without any other message...
If I uninstall MMS, camera restart to work.
Anyone was successfully in installing MMS AND in having a working camera too?

Thanks a ton, nncuong!
Your ROM runs really fine on my Exec. I was using Jason's 2.12.06, which happens to be a very high standard ROM, until yesterday. I just can't believe it, but yours seems to run even faster! Besides, a ~22MB flash disk is also available. More: after a full day, my free RAM is in the 20-22MB range! How come?
Have already used my camera a couple of times, and I have had NO camera buffer problem so far. Good sign! EDIT: this morning I pressed the camera button again, with 22MB of free RAM. A black screen showed up for a while. Then, my Exec soft reseted itself, without issuing that 30s camera buffer error message first. Bad sign!
The only problems I've found so far are:
1. My own extended ROM cooking failed to run after the hard reset. I could only run it after having it renamed from "Storage" to "Extended_ROM" in the registry;
2. As with all the newer builds, HFP refuses to handle my Lubix NC1 stereo headsets for phone calls. The last perfect HFP implementation, IMHO, was present in Jason's old 2.02.02 ROM (build 15341.0.0.0, if I'm not mistaken). But, I'm living with it since then: my Samsung WEP410 comes to the rescue!
3. The first sychronizations, with both my laptop (WinXP) and an exchange server, seems to consume a lot of memory (down to 6MB!), which are not fully returned by Hibernate. It seems to take hours to sync Calendar (maybe because I always sync all my calendar entries (~800). Had to soft reset it to return to normal life. But your build is not to blame here, I suppose. I have noticed this problem with all the newer builds too.
Overall, you've done a wonderful job. I'm afraid I'll keep your ROM for a big while now. :D Congratulations!
Cheers!
Carlos

My msgs are still in the Inbox but the memory used is the Storage Card.

the speed of this rom is really noticeable!
can't compare it to other WM6 roms. i am a fan of Jason's roms but i think i'm gonna stick with this rom for a while till a new version as fast or faster than this is cooked.

Ok, thanks a lot! However, perhaps there is some additional registry changes yet to be done, because if you go to the Storage tab in the Messaging application Options, the free space shown there is still referring to the extended ROM...
Cheers!
Carlos
EDIT: I've found out that after performing this reg change, moving folder "Inbox.xxxxx..." to the storage card and soft resetting my Exec, my real "Storage Card" folder had been renamed to to "Storage Card2", and a new folder "Storage Card", containing folder "Inbox.xxxxx..." had been created in the main memory. I.e. NO message attachement would actually be saved to the storage card. Have just undone the changes! Further testing is still needed on this subject.

hi guys,
it is a known bug in the mail app, the registry will not resolve this issue for you. you have to hide your extended rom to use the sd as attachment store.
If you have installed apps to the extended rom, they will still operate fine as long as you have shortcuts to them, whilst the extended rom is hidden.

Hi Beasty,
The extended ROM was orignally visible as "Storage" in nncuong's ROM. My first measure was to change its name to "Extended_ROM" by changing key "Folder" in "...\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1". So far, so good. Now I've just changed keys "MountHidden" to 1 and "Bootphase", in "...\Autoload\TRUEFFS_DOC1", also to 1 in order to hide it.
With such settings in previous ROMs, I could still see the contents and copy files to/from the extended ROM by typing "\Extended_ROM" in TotalCommander. Not anymore!
Would you know what addtitional changes should I make?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
In Oman it is National Holidays, so lately I have not been on the www very much
I see that my dear friend and master Carlos has now tried the ROM.
Excellent! :)
Now, with lots of members trying this ROM, we can get some good feedback on the ROM.
Here are some tools that might be helpful to some of you.
1. The first attachment called, "Storage Unlock" is a cab file and it unlocks the ExtROM and calls it "Storage".
2. The second attachment called, "ExtROM Unlock" is a zip file and it unlocks the ExtROM and calls it "ExtROM".
3. The third attachment called, "ExtROM Hide_UnHide" is a zip file and does exactly what the name of the file says. It hides and un-hides the ExtROM.
Inside the zip files, there are exe to be copied to the Universal and to be execute from there.
Cheers,
KOR! :)

And I did rename the file to .reg
Hi RRibeiro,
Sorry about the above and sorry to come back late.
Here is the registry file in zip format. Unzip the file, import it to the Universal and use any registry program to import it to the registry of Universal.
After that soft-reset! :)

Dear, KOR
Thank you very much for providing links. you are great, MAN!
do you rather prefer MS Voice than Cyberon?
Hi Antigen,
I have tried 3 software for voice dialing.
1. MS Voice Command
2. Cyberon Voice Commander
3. And, Cyberon Speed Dial.
I am not been able to get the first two mentioned softwares to work for me. This is due to following reasons:
1. I have 1300+ contacts and thus they slow down my Universal and take up lots of memory.
2. Almost everybody at home is named. "Mohammad", haha. I leave this to your imagination.
3. It requires either American or British accent, which I am througly lacking, even after staying in USA for 18 years.
For me it is Cyberon Voice Dial. I have trained some 30+ contacts, which I frequently use for calling. The recent version 1.2 allows to save these voice tags and to retrive them after hard re-set.
Cheers mate,
KOR! :)

I see that dear master Carlos has already pointed you to the right direction. What I understand the G4 ROM from N. N. Coung is still in beta. I have tried it and it is very stable. Give it a try! :)
Master Beasty has a G4 device and what I understand from BeastyLeo, that they are already testing 128MB ROM for G4 devices. I won't be long before these masters will come out with a solution.

strange.
mine is still showing storage card and not storage card2.
maybe i have reported one wrong step.
i remember now that after changing the registry, i soft reset.
then i have Inbox.xxxxxxx both in storage and storage card.
i cut the Inbox.xxxxx from Storage then paste it (and overwrite) on Storage Card.
for me it's working fine.
you are right about the storage tab in messaging application options. but that doesn't bother me, because even i have big attachment in my inbox, the storage capacity is not reduced.

I've just installed this rom. At first it was slow, so i did another reset.
After that I must say that this is by far most the fastest rom I've seen and it has 40+ MB free disk space!
I havent tested it thoroughly, but for now I must say it's a great job.
Didn't know my Universal was capable to be this fast. (I do have the speed dynamic CPU Frequence changing running).

This is a great ROM certainly one of the best I have installed. Everything seems to be working well and I have quite a number of applications loaded usingf the Flash Disk to store them.
I have one problem. Installation on windows live. I have tried to install this to main memory and the installation appears to be successful. The icons are present but when you run the application nothing happens.
I have tried a number of cabs all have the same problem. I can only conclude there is a dependency missing from this ROM that is required by windows live. The cab I last tried is WLM_Live_10_6_33_0600.cab.
Any ideas.

Hello,
I'm back to report something after weeks of use. I really don't understand why this thread isn't still sticky...
I never had so many application installed on my universal, I really think I pushed it over all the limits I knew and all the good things still remains.
With my today screen full and charged of usually heavy plugins, I still start with 22-23 Mb of free RAM and RAM stays stable around 20.5/20.8 after using it.
Only if I connect the phone via usb to my pc, and other programs starts to update info (rss, meteo, my mobiler ecc.) RAM go down, but NEVER done 12-13 Mb. This mean phone remains very snappy and responsive. The only problem in this case is when I want to use my GPS software, which need around 15 Mb free to work without problems, but I need it only in weekends and however a soft-reset solve the "problem"
Having flash memory I was able to fullfill it with the programs I really like, and so my main memory has still 11 Mb free, and I saw it's very important to have a discrete amount of free main memory for overall performances.
I promised to KOR to test if RAM degrade if no using the comm manager icon on today screen. I'm not so willing to this because now I really feel I've the "perfect" phone and I don't want to change anything:-D, but, if KOR is really curious, I could reactivate the comm manager for some day  .
By the way, can somebody confirm that thi rom works well with 128 Mb RAM? I'm tempted to upgrade the phone, even if it isn't a real "need" now ;-)

Ok, if I try to install Arcsoft MMS, camera stop to works, not regarding battery or free RAM remaining. It's like software try to start, after close without any other message...
If I uninstall MMS, camera restart to work.
Anyone was successfully in installing MMS AND in having a working camera too?

hi carlos
i encountered a problem when my battery went too low and i received a message. then i charged the battery but now my Storage Card is changed to Storage Card2 and a folder Storage Card is created (with the Inbox.... in it). i guess because when my batt is low the card isn't supported so the system has created it's own storage card for the message to store.
i tried al remedies i knew to changed back the Storage Card2 to Storage Card. nothing worked.
then i thought of deleting the newly created Storage card folder and boot in safe mode (i have spb pocket plus), then i have checked on File explorer and voila the Storage Card2 is renamed back to Storage Card. then normal boot and everything is ok.

Well, when I had such hassle, I recall having solved it by unticking the "save to storage card" opiton in the messaging options, deleting the falsely created "Storage Card" file, and soft resetting my Exec.
The fact is: I've never managed to save attachments to my "real" storage card while using this ROM, no matter which battery level I had. You've made a point, anyway, although I can access my storage card's files with low battery levels.
By the way, now I'm using Ivan's V3 ROM, and I've seen that it also shows the "Flash Disk" available space at the messaging options, instead of my real storage card's. So, I don't intend to try to make those registry changes again, because I'm sure I would find those same issues. :D

I think they kind of match in terms of speed and stability. You might be aware that all ROMs have their pros and cons, as seen by each and every person. To me, nncung's ROM seem to keep less RAM usage in normal use, i.e. it keeps the free RAM ammount higher than Ivan's. On the other hand, Ivan's A2DP general quality is far better than nncuong's. I've always flashed virtually all Ivan's and Jason's ROMs, and I've become a big fan of their ROMs. Besides, Ivan is about to release his V4 version within a short time.

I have just flashed this onto my o2 xda exec after using one of Helmi's wm6 roms from earlier this year and this rom is hanging on the boot screen after a successfull flash for some reason. I have tried hard resetting etc but no difference :(
I have also tried flashing this rom again, tried to flash helmi's old v1.1 rom and also Thingonaspring's 3.2 but all get me as far as the boot screen (now NNCUONG v2.11.11) and then nothing.
The exec had bootloader 1.00 (g3 device) but I also updated this to 1.01 in desperation, I have it in bootloader mode and using MaUpgradeUt_noID when flashing with both sim card and sd card removed by the way.
LAST EDIT: I managed to get it going using mitty and the wiki instructions - nice rom so far!

I have had this rom for several weeks and been really impressed with it but this morning everything seems really, really slow and after soft resettting, clearing memory etc and having 29,000kb of memory free at start up it is almost hanging with anything I try and do.
I have never had this issue with anyt other roms and not installed or changed anything for weeks so am really confused - help!
cheers
