Update/Flash died at 12%

I acquired a vario II recently from a friend.

The phone worked fine apart from a problem with the wifi not turning on. I similar problem to when i have the Xda orbit apart from that would never turn off wifi. So i decided to flash the phone to see if that would sort the problem.

So i connected by active sync and clicked went through the steps. Then after the software got to 12% it just said connection error and said you need to recover so i did, and nothing it will only ever get to 12% and then fail.

So i then read through this forum and the Wiki, where i found the article on ''stuck on bootloader''

I have tried this and still no luck, does this mean that the phone is bricked and now useless. Or is it me that is the useless one and i have missed something.

On the tri colour screen it says:
HERM300
IPL-1.04

HERM300
SPL-1.40.0Lipro

Can i moderator delete this post, as i have now fixed this problem.

It was due to Windows Vista well been Windows Vista, utter *****

Maybe instead of deleting the post, you could say what you did to Vista to fix the problem. This will help others who have the same problem.
