Need Help Please ( device authentication failure )

My friend was playing around with my Imate Kjam and did the software up date and installed some security update. Now my phone locks up and say device authentication failure. I know I need to reinstall again but I can't get pass that device authentication failure, and without getting pass that my pc wont see my phone to allow me to install a new rom. Did a hard reset already and thought maybe that would get me by, but no stuck at the same screen again. Hope someone can help me get pass this and upgrade to a new rom.

Get to boot loader mode (4 color screen) and flash as usual.
AS will will not "pop-up" but if you look in the lower left of your device you will see USB meaning the drivers a communicating.

Thanks for the reply . When I try and run the enter bootloader it comes up with an error message. can I get into the bootloader any other way.

ok I', able to get into bootloader but when I run the rom is errors out saying can't find device. Any idea I'm trying to do this from a vista pc.

cant do it in a vista pc. get a XP or below.
