I have taken the tile to make an illustrated cook book that should make anyone a junior cook. It is based on a modified version of Wizard rom packer kitchen by Ed Haas using the tools created by BEPE and MAIMAICH.
This document is in the form of a word doc.

Thanks for putting this together! I could have used it last night at 3am! This is great stuff for a rookie cooker (like myself).
I just used it to cook up a rom from your Version 8.1 318 WM6. Flawless!

I didn't see any tools for if someone wants to take an already cooked ROM (the nk.nbf) and then cook from that. Just a heads up you might want to add something telling everyone how to do that.

Is there any possibility of putting this on the XDA FTP server or on the wiki?
TIA,

Not really. I still consider myself a noob at cooking because everything I cook freezes at the first or second splash screen. I was just taking a look to see if there was anything that I was missing.

57MB is the final compressed size of the OS (aka nk.nbf). As long as your Dump folder is under 80MB (81MB if you really push it), you're safe. If you don't mind some trial and error, you can just keep on adding packages until the *.nb builder gets an error.

thanks, i think itīs the htc touch stuff that needs so much space, i will try to leave autoupdate and catalog and see how much space i will get.
my os-new.nb is always 57 - 58%

I am right there with you. There are some amazing roms that I just love beyond words, but would love to take out a few things like Windows Live, and instead add the few apps I consider essential...and being a pain in the @ss to the original rom developer just to cater to my needs is not what I am into.
Thanks to theloon for this tutorial...if at some point you feel bored and would care to release an updated tutorial describing how to do this using an already cooked rom that we'd like to tweak a bit...well I'd sure appreciate it.
EDIT**
Found this thread...however, if someone who knows what the hell they are talking about could create a pictured tutorial supplementing these steps, I would be so happy, I'd name a soon to be born kitten after you (and give you the cat too...hint hint...really I mean it, I got kittens for a good home)...I am still stuck on stupid when it comes to making OEM packages and stuff though.

If you use the HyperCore kitchen (sticky at the top of this forum) you can take an nk.nbf file and place it in the Extract\Source folder. Then under the Panel folder is the Extract. Start that and just go through each step (they are numbered even so you do it in the right order). You may have to do it a couple of times to get the feel for the options, but when you are done you will have a rom that is pulled apart with the ROM folder (including XIP), and the SYS and OEM folders (note that OEM stuff may actually wind up in SYS, and some SYS stuff in OEM, but it will all be there). There may also be a Missing folder so you just need to take the files in there and figure out where they belong (use another rom's SYS folder as a guide).
Only problem with this method is if the cook pulled out the RGU files, then you won't have those (or if you try to dump Faria's last couple of roms, you get a mess as he cooks different than anyone else it seems).
Hope that helps.
BTW: I've released my "Cooking Packs" just so people can take my roms and make their own version now. Maybe other cooks will follow suit with some pressure (although it seems some of the cooks try to hide their work so people can't "copy" things. I guess thats their choice, but personally, I'm for giving back to the community, as it may spark a new cook that will come up with something better for all).

And you SO rock for that...too bad you are jumping ship for the Tilt/Kaiser...
Traitor!!:p
I hope you plan on sticking around the Wiz's to throw your knowledge into the ring when needed. I think my main confusion in cooking my own rom is the whole sorting out process! Hence my request for pictures!
