I have an 8525 running the official release of WM6. Ever since I upgraded I am having problems with my radio. This is the secenario:
I enter an area with no signal (the phone correctly shows the (!) symbol

I then go back to an area with strong signal the (!) symbol is still displayed. (even after several minutes).

If I cycle the phone icon in comm manager to restart the radio it starts working.

Why doesn't it go to the (....) mode to try to obtain a signal?

Is there a setting to control the algorithm for the radio retry sequense? I realize there are power / battery considerations but I would like to be able to control this.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

One quick option is to navigate to Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Band (tab) and make sure both items are set to "Auto".

Another option may be to flash a different radio. Radio quality can vary from location to location and I've found the best luck with 1.48.00 (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Hermes/HERM_Radio_Only_1.48.00.00_CustomRUU.rar). However, depending on where you're at, you may have a better go with a different radio.

Last option I'd recommend is hard-resetting or even reflashing your ROM. It may have been just a "kink" during install that would be worked out that way.

Try those in order and see what kind of results you get. Good luck! :)

Try flashing V1.54.07 radio and see if that improves the reception, a lot of people have raised concerns about the signal of their radio after flashing WM6, i personally have never had any problem since i used this radio.
