ok, so... backstory first.
since i knew about the chances that my HTC P3300 could use 4GB microSDHC cards, i've tried every single patch, cab, dll, whatever i could.
i was pretty happy with the original WM5, and when HTC released the official WM6 i installed it fast, hoping for SDHC support... did not work.
so, i had a nice phone, no cooked rom as i don't like the concept of "too shiny, too much stuff", plenty of nice stuff on my phone, battery lasted 3days and longer and the menus very really fast.
then i tried a gps photo patch... well, i had tried some in the past, didn't work. and everything went borked... my GPS stopped working and there was no way to fix it.
it was time for a hard reset...
but this time, i would write down all steps, so i could easily repeat it in the future. and this is why i post this, so to share it for those who want to have SDHC and GPS PHOTO, but without a cooked rom.
step ZERO was getting a backup program for my SMS, the only thing that really bothered me. i used the SPRITE BACKUP (http://www.spritesoftware.com/) (.cab) which created a .exe on my SD card which i could just execute from the phone later to recover my sms.
then i proceeded. i did this with my 4GB SDHC card plugged in, which previously was working with the patches i finally found. u can do this with a SDHC card plugged in, as the first steps we make is to get that one working.
READ ALL BEFORE STARTING. all this is based on the fact that you can establish a bluetooth connection with your PC, or transfer somehow (with a non SDHC card) a cab file to your phones memory.
<<<NOTE>>> your SDHC card has to be formatted in FAT32
1) hard reset the phone. all default HTC stuff is installed and all data except on the SD card is lost.
2) create a bluetooth connection between PC and phone and transfer the SDHC-Artemis.cab file obtained in THIS POST (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345038) to the phone memory. if you don't have bluetooth, do this with an old, non SDHC card for example. then install the patch and reboot. now you have access to your SDHC card.
3) do like you did in 2) and this time transfer wm5torage (http://www.modaco.com/content/Smartphone-Software-Freeware-Download-Discussion/238545/WM5torage/) (v 175 worked fine for me)
at this point you have USB access to your phone and to the SDHC card. note that the USB transfer seems to be slower, but stuff on the phone (like mp3 or video) works still well. you create a folder on your SD card where you upload through USB all the CABs i'll link later, and then install them
<<<NOTE>>> kinda in a hurry now. will post all and edit links to applications later
4) install resco explorer and resco regedit
5) install gps photo fix (sdkcerts.cab, gps_camera_fix.cab, camera gps.reg)
now some optional programs:
6) i installed smileysms to get rid of the "sms sent" popup
7) i installed skypeforpocket (installed on phonememory as it gets corrupted if you install on sd card and use wm5torage. hopefully that gets fixed in future versions)
8) agilemessenger (i have a registered one)
9) gps2blue (to track my routes. i'll test new soft for this soon)
10) tcpmp 72rc1 (works perfect to watch videos)
11) s2u2 0.85
12) pocket mechanic (has to be installed from PC through activesync)
then i configure everything like i want (background, alarm sounds, calling sound, today, menus), get the syncronization working, and VOILA!
all my stuff running in less than 30 minutes. my battery still lasts about 3days (1-2 days if i watch movies while traveling with undergound/bus) the phone is still very fast and most important: sdhc and photo gps working.
<<<NOTE ON PHOTO GPS: in order to get it finally working, you have to open camera, switch to internal rom, close camera. then when you open it, gps phot works properly and you can switch back to sd card to save the photos. it's just this little bug that phone rom memory needs to be selected when opeing camera to enable gps properly>>>
