Trying to upgrade - i-mate PDA2k DEAD !!!

I try to upgrade my i-mate PDA2K (italian) with Helmi Windows Mobile 6 Profesional R0 ...

The program started, recognize my PDA:
Your device software is about to be update from :
Device CE image version : 1.12.24
Device Extended image version : 1.12.168
Device Radio image version : 1.02.00

To :
CE image version : 5.60.00
Extended image version :
Radio image version :


While the update is in progress, your device will act as though it
is outside of network coverage. So, all your calls will be diverted
to your Answer Phone, and any messages will be delivered
once the update is completed.

Please click Update to continue.

After then, remain stucked on:
Checking the information on your device ... Please wait ...
Please don't disconnect your device from your PC or
the power supply until the update is completed.

PDA is off, nothing happen... I was wait about 1/2 hour and then I take my PDA from cradle...
Nothing happen...

Now, the only thing I see is SERIAL (top of screen when out of cradle and USB when I put the PDA on cradle) and v2.06 (down to screen).

Try to reset, hard reset... nothing...

Can anyone help an moron like me ??? (I'm reaaly moron, not practice with the PDA's) :confused:

(I use Vista Business, I update Windows Media Device Center before this...)

Did you follow the steps as indicated in the wiki? As you upgrade from 2003:

Well i guess this is the bootloader, so when you connect the phone to the cradle you can upgrade??

As MuratNL says: you are in bootloader. Connect the cradle (with PDA) to your PC (SERIAL changes to USB). Now execute the rom upgrade file from your PC and upgrade should begin.
If you have problems with connection and Vista read wiki (see above link) or try the upgrade from a WinXP machine...

(The I put an Italian ROM [ WM6 ] and run perfectly)

Just a quick note:

i've experienced that thing so many times
that it's safe to say that:

IF the rom copying aint started yet, meaning YOU DONT SEE the % screen...
and if you've been waiting for that to appear so long...
and you're stuck at the:
Checking the information on your device ... Please wait ...
Please don't disconnect your device from your PC or
the power supply until the update is completed.

you can disconnect the BA to the cradle withouth harming the BA.

1. you can disconnect/takeoff the BA from the cable
2. on pc, terminate the upgrade process
(taskmanager terminate the RUU - "MaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe")
3. reconnect your BA still on "Serial/USB" screen
4. restart your RUU again...

that would work flawlessly. trust me. i can vouch for that.

unless you saw the Rom Copy % Screen...
