I noticed I'm not getting any notification of new email, even though in the Sounds & Notifications CP I do have "Events" enabled, Alarm4 set to play, and light set to flash for no limit. If I click the play button I can hear the sound. But when mail arrives I get nothing, and no blinking orange light.
Cingular 8125.
Any ideas?
Update: I noticed I'm not getting txt notifications either. I receive everything fine, just not being notified.

My G3 Wizard has been through just about every wm6 rom out here and i've never had any problems with it i cant find a fix for but now i'm stumped. i flashed this release of your rom a few days after its release and love it. two days ago we had an ice storm that knocked out power to most of the city and as such i wasnt able to charge my phone. the battery went dead overnight so i put the phone up till i could charge it. now that powers back and im able to plug it in i cant get a response from my wizard..no leds...no screen, nothing...i put the battery in another wizard i have with a cracked screen and it took a charge...i left it on all night and its fully charged now but when i put it back in my wm6 wizard i still get nothing. i've tried everything i can find on here and still nothing...not even a led indicator when plugged in. is there anything i'm missing or is it time to trade screens with the broken one?

I'm just going to suggest a few things to eliminate possibilities...have you hooked the phone up via usb cable to the pc and seen if activesync and wm5torage work? This would confirm the usb port is ok and not having issues (a common fault with MDA's).
Is your data backed up? A hard reset might undue whatever glitch occured.
Reflashing might be an option but make sure you use a FULL battery if you do so..of course reflashing would prove the usb cable is working ok too.

This exact same thing happened to me with this ROM. I, too, have had several dozen ROMs on it, and I've seen my fair share of issues, including some that wouldn't boot after a few days (have to reflash from bootloader), etc. I had no indications of any battery problem beforehand, either. Yes, my battery was 18 months old, but it still held 2 days of charge with average use and the right ROM. I hate to say it, but I do think it is something in this ROM, but I have no idea at all how one would reproduce it, except to have a whole bunch of people run the Wizard stone cold dead on power and try to resurrect. Again, I don't mean anything against the ROM - I am running it again at the moment while I wait for the next Black Diamond release or WM5SE Touch versions - but I did have to go buy a new battery to fix it. Just my experience....

If you check the following thread you will see it's a known issue for owners of a wizard who let the battery drain completely and NOT a rom issue.

Here is a perfect example of how NOT to ask for help. Does he tell us any information to diagnose the problem? Is he using data at the time he misses his calls? Who is his cell phone provider? Instead we are expected to be mind readers apparently.
Congrats..you are the final question I am going to answer in this thread.
The wizard can only receive data OR voice..not both. If you want to receive both you need a 3g capable device. On Cingular an incoming call takes priority and will interrupt your data. On tmobile the DATA takes priority and the incoming call will be rolled to voicemail. It's controlled by the provider.
All this information was already available in the thread and yet the same questions get asked over and over. Maybe if no one is answering people will actually take the time to read...who knows?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348431&highlight=dead+battery
Problem is, I didn't LET it drain completely. I have had XM6R4 on my Wizard 3-4 times now, and although it is BY FAR the most stable ROM I've ever had, it can be quite sluggish at times. It also has, at times, seemingly gone into overdrive and consumed battery like you wouldn't believe. So on the day indicated I had 35% battery at 11am or so, and 90 minutes later I look down "after not using the phone in any way) and it is stone cold dead.
So, ack on the known issue - doesn't mean it ISN'T a ROM problem. Certainly doesn't mean it is, either. Could be an app I had installed. But it DID happen with this ROM, and not with any others, so it is important for folks to know. Again, I am using this ROM right now, but if another battery died as a result then I'd let everyone know and avoid it going forward.

Why do you think Faria had anything to do with this ROM?
As for GPRS it has to be something with your settings or the way you are doing them. You'll have to check that out yourself. But I can say that GPRS works just fine on this rom for many people.
@Dead Battery/Phone issue - Sorry, I've never seen this. Never seen the rom start consuming massive battery either.
I will be the first to admit that r4 is not as stable as r3a was, and for that I'm sorry. Keep a watch out under the XDA-Dev Christmas tree for a new package to show up. Will probably be my final gift to the Wizard community for some time.

Hey mfrazzz,
As mentioned in a couple post before, the only thing I haven't been able to work around is the message notification going silent. I have gone to sound/notification and played sound and then sent myself text and still no sound, soft reset gets it working again. If there is no fix I will jump back XM6r3 and wait for Santa Claus to come down the chimney:p
famewolf,
Please don't a few lazy jackasses run you off this thread, your help and input is invaluable, I have never flashed anything but the XM6's so I am probably bias but, from what I have read on XDA and other sites (I have read alot) these are the most stable & functional OS's out there.
This is not a toy for me, I work the hell out of my wizard all day every day. There is no comparison to the wizard that came out of the T-mobile box to the one I have now thanks to you guys.

First off I love this rom. Fast loaded with just about everything I use. One thing that would complete this rom would be a network wizard IMO.
One thing I am coming acrossed is the phone freezing here and there.Last night it froze while loading a playlist in WMP. This only happens when doing something processor intense. I've never had it happen with any other custom rom I've loaded and I have been through I'd say 10 roms on this g4
2.26.001
2.19.11
10.1.811
Anyone else run into this?

I hate to see development on such a fine ROM slow down, but I know we all have lives outside of Wizards. As an update, I think I mentioned before that I have had instances of this ROM (and a couple of others) at some point failing to boot past the splash screen for no apparent reason. Why these 3 or 4 (out of 30+) ROMS exhibited this behavior is beyond me. No software had been recently installed, and the shutdowns were normal. This weekend I had to catch a flight and I powered off XM6R4 normally with the power button. I was never again able to boot past the WM6 Cooked by mrfrazzz screen.
So, I am just letting others know my experiences. One dead battery, a couple of random boot problems that require re-flashing from the bootloader. And this is STILL one of my top 2 favorite ROMS. But if you want the most stable - probably XM6R3a is the best for you. If you want the best overall balanced and you are willing to risk a bit, go with XM6R4. I also highly recommend Black Diamond 3.1a. It too rocks, and that's what I'm going to shift back to for a bit until our Christmas present.
Above all, thanks for some excellent work, mrfrazzz.

Perhaps a very stupid beginners question:
But it looks like my phone does not ring when I have entered a bussy appointment. I can not remember turning this feature on, or seeing it.... Can someoen tell me were to turn it off?

First off great ROM!
I'm having an issue with slow boot time. Not sure if this is normal or not but from reset to main menu, it takes about 1m+ for it to boot. Is this normal?
On a side not, does anyone know how to disable the automatic picture detection message on boot?
***
Guess it would help if I added my phone info:
Cingular 8125
Radio: 2.69.11
IPL/SPL: 2.26

How much stuff have you installed on the ROM? In the past, slow boot times tended to be 1 of two things...
1) LOTS of files in the \Windows folder. Seems once a certain magic number of files is reached, the boot time severely slows down. I removed the .rgu files from this rom to try to help not getting to that point. But if you've added a lot of stuff that goes into \Windows, this could be your issue:
2) Today plugins can slow down the boot time (usually this is seen by seeing part of the menu bar or soft key bar showing up and then the phone seems to hang for a minute or so). Try turning off everyting in your Today screen and see if the boot time speeds up. If it does turn things back on in groups to figure out what is slowing it down.
Also, are you overclocking? If not, give that a try...
Hope that helps!

Hey, mfrazzz, I have also flash ths r4 ROM to my wizard.
I love it and admire the accompanying tools and programs.
I experience the same problem as 1) above after installing some (about 10) softwares. The speed is low and \Windows folder is 17M.
Just sharing my experience on this ROM.

Been running this rom for a few days now - tried the Black Diamond and had problems with bluetooth and contacts.
Loving this ROM though. It's pretty fast on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario. I've added transcriber back in, bluetooth is working spot on, wifi great. Nice one!

I first removed all today "Plug-ins" - same slow boot time
Secondly I tried overclocking to
Secondly I "Cleared Storage" to wipe the device - Same symptoms
Lastly I "Re-flashed" with XM6r4, with my SD card removed - Fixed slow boot Issue, so now I'm pretty sure it was an application I installed.

\Windows Size was roughly 79MB.
I had installed a few applications, noted below in the order in which they where installed, from CABs stored on my SD card:
1) TodayAgenda - The one already cooked with XM6r4 freezes my device when I choose "Options" from the "Items" tab in the "Today" screen options. I didn't know how to uninstall it, so I installed over it with the 1.0cab, which fixed the freezing. Not sure what affect this would have on the device
2) acbToggleBT 0.8 (http://www.acbpocketsoft.com/Products/acbToggleBT/acbToggleBT-Free--3.html) - Secondly I installed this so I could listen to my music over the my bluetooth headset. Works well.
3) btIO-0.6-WM5 (http://www.silentservices.de/btIO.html) - I installed this thirdly because I wanted to test it out. It was probably bad practice installing an app that does the same as above, without removing the latter first. I ended up uninstalling this.
4) ActiveSync - Of course this is already part of the ROM. I set this up with an exchange server.
5) SPB Finance 2.7 (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/finance/?en) - This is the second to last application I installed. I'll admit that I got this one from a friend a while ago. I'm hoping it's not this app because it's crucial for my personal financing. It's an awesome app by the way :). Highly recommend it.
6) BatterStatus 0.04 - Last app I installed. It was acting funny even after reboot. I had to select to show "Indicators" a few times before it showed up. When it was running, with the indicators, a twice, when clicking the indicators to get the temperature readout, the indicators disappeared and I had to go back into settings to have them show up again.
=========
To to sum this up, it was definitely something I installed, noted above. Later this evening I am going to test the apps I installed, in the same manner/order, to see what I did to cause it.
TodayAgenda seems to work fine it just continually freezes when I choose "Options" from the "Items" tab in the today screen settings.
To note as well. The message about automatic picture transfers. to the device, stopped popping up every time I rebooted or inserted the SD card. Weird. Could this be because I flashed my device with the SD card inserted? I'm assuming that the SD card shouldn't be in when the device is flashed?
Thanks for the reply mfrazzz

yeah, this is a bug (not sure if its with my rom build or with TodayAgenda itself as I seem to recall when the rom was released someone put TA on their phone and had the same behavior from the CAB. Maybe they updated it and fixed this issue. But the one in the ROM works fine, just don't use the options from the Today screen. Instead tap and hold on the Today screen itself in the Today Agenda area and you can get to the options. Personally this is more convenient anyway.

Any reason you are using 0.04 and not a current version? There were lots of issues with the pre 1.04 version. One issue I remember specifically was that in 0.04 when you rebooted your phone and had the USB cable plugged in, the phone would hang on the 3rd splash screen. I would higly recommend you go up to the latest 1.04 Beta version. There are nicer features and all in it.

No idea on this, but I almost always flash with my SD card inserted. But I do know a couple of people that had Wizards that when they tried to flash with an SD card they would get errors during the flash or afterwards. So could be an issue with the speed of the SD card or somesuch.

It turned out to be SPB Finance. I don't know what it did when I installed it, but after I rebooted it took 1m+ to boot up and also the "Start Menu" would click open on every startup. Now that I think of it, the same thing happened on some of the other cooked roms I tried.
The only reason I installed the older version of BatteryStatus, is because I didn't see the beta version available :D.
Thanks for the great ROM and the help mfrazzz.

The icon shows activity when connecting to my wifi but then nothing when loading a web page. GPRS connection working no problem. Even micro. direct push not connecting over wifi. In GPRS setting after you provided user id and password, press Advance and go to server tab. It should be use server assigned address. In my case somehow it was specific address not sure how this happned. After this change it is working fine for last 2 days.

Its out... See my sig...
I'm hoping the instability of r4 is gone with r5. I completely went back to r3, and started over to do r5, and didn't do some things that I think caused the r4 instabilities (crossing my fingers on that one).

Can you be more specific? MortPlayer and Windows Media Player worked fine for me in r4. But since r5 is out, I have no way of testing this now. I'd highly recommend anyone on r4 upgrade to r5 as its a lot more stable based on reports coming in from people in that thread.

Sorry to dig up this old thread..
I'm having an issue with activesync that I'm wondering if any other users of this rom are having....
Rom version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
Rom Date: 8/11/06
Radio Version: 02.25.11
Protocol Version 4.1.13.12
My problem is that activesync will not recognize my MDA no matter what I do. I've hard reset my phone, installed and uninstalled activesync 4.5 a bunch of times. Done this on two different computers, but when I plug the mda in, nothing happens at all. I plug my roomate's MDA in (running a different rom) and it instantly recognizes the phone and begins to sync. I really want to try different roms out, but without an activesync connection I can't. Any ideas guys?
Thanks...
