XDA Mobile 6 Release 4
Let's give thanks on Thanksgiving; Its a new XM6!
You can now cook your own version of this rom! Click Here! (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350273)
XDA Mobile 6 Release 4 (XM6r4 for short) is the fourth version of the popular XM6 rom series for the Wizard. The base rom is the same, but with new features and fixes to a few bugs found in XM6r3.
XM6r4 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. While this is not the "newest" release of WM6, it is the last known release that was built for the Wizard (ie: its not a port from another HTC Device). Various pieces of the base rom have been upgraded, so some of it is stuff ported from other phones so that it can have newer functionality. Overall, I feel this base is very stable and fast and makes a great base to cook on.
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization. It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to very quick and responsive (especially with Overclocking with BatteryStatus), and so far Battery life has been very good for me and those beta testing this. If you have a Battery Drain issue, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM. If you want to overclock or use other features of BatteryStatus, you are welcome to download and install the latest version of BatteryStatus yourself. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751) I personally use it, and have OMAP set to 247MHz with CPUscalar set from 143 to 247 and Boost set to 260Mhz.
Base ROM Information
The base rom was an "Official" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of the development cycle of WM6 inside of Microsoft (Dogfood as they call it). The base rom was not a port of another device rom with drivers and stuff pieced and parted onto this one, but this was an actual Wizard WM6.
Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM included in this (so its G4 "safe").

Mods made from XM6r3
In addition to the apps listed above, the following fixes and mods were made to improve the user experience on XM6r4
Changing ringtone now stays changed when you leave the Phone app
Using press and hold on CommManager button toggles vibrate on and off, and phone does NOT stay stuck in vibrate / no ring mode
Regional Settings default to English (United States) and use a slash for the date seperator (M/dd/yyyy)
Menu sounds work by default
Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect
Internet access over ActiveSync (USB) connection works (You must apply a registry fix on your PC first. See the next post for the fix)
D pad now works differently with PIE. Up and down presses on the D Pad stay the same, but pressing right jumps forward a page and pressing left jumps backwards a page. Makes going through websites easier (IMO).
Fixed the A2DP registry for sampling
Registry Entries for PIE Connections to speed page loading
Registry Entries to increase In Call Volume
Press Button 1 for messaging (like normal) or hold it a little longer and HTC Action will come up (via HButton)
WkTask setup to not show Phone and Activesync as running apps in task bar
QuickMenu enabled for nice drop down and cascading start menu
Touch Scroll only is active so use your finger to scroll in most places
Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).
You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).
Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613) to learn how to flash roms, CID unlock your phone, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!
Recomendations
I HIGHLY Recommend that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release or the Wizard Love ROM. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.
If you use BatteryStatus (its NOT included in the rom!) to overclock, I don't recommend overclocking above 260Mhz, and the CPUscaler settings in BatteryStatus should not be set to a min lower than 143MHz (or your device may not wake back up after going to sleep).
Newer Radio ROMs on WM6 have had issues in the past (especially for Cingular / AT&T users). T-Mobile 2.19 (UK or NL versions) seems to be the most stable, but you can now run newer radios with the attached cab. This cab also works for some other providers but not for all, so its up to you to test what works for your phone.
Credits
I've moved the credits to the 5th post of this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1683467&postcount=5) as this post has become too big.
Known Issues
When entering a contact in the "To:" field it does not link to the outlook contacts, it instead shows suggested words. You can tap the word "to" and it will go to the contact list no problem. Also, when trying to select a file to send no file names or pictures are displayed just empty square boxes, you can tap the box and it will go to the next sub folder, if it is a folder. There are no thumbnails or files listed so it is impossible to navigate to select a picture or video. Click Here (http://tinyurl.com/252m9d) to download patch
After the initial flash, some have reported that QuickMenu pops open the start menu when you are supposed to tap the screen to start the phone setup. Just wait a second or two and it will close by itself.
The base rom has a bug / feature where if GPRS is active, unanswered calls may not show up as a missed call and may not give notification of the unanswered call. If this happens, the unanswered call shows up in the history as an answered call with a duration of 1 or 2 seconds.

How to not have a 24hour Clock (or how to show AM/PM)
This works on all WM6 roms
Go to Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings
Make sure you have the correct Region selected
Click on the Time tab
Click on the drop down box for Time Style
Notice the little up and down arrows? This is a scrolling region in this dropdown. Click the up arrow a couple of times and you'll find h:mm:ss tt
Thats it. Microsoft is amazing at having a 2 line scrolling region on this dropdown. You'd think they would have had at least 3 or 4 lines show up for chosing (and it would be more obvious that its a scrolling region then too).
GPRS / MMS Setups
First, here is The Ultimate Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023) with people posting operator settings for about all providers! In the first post is a link to the thread where walshieau is creating an automated way of setting up all of these!
What follows is a list of automated and manual ways of setting up GPRS and MMS for various cell providers and regions that I've collected:
The cab file for Cingular users to setup GPRS and MMS - Click Here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=47765&d=1187759732).
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311446) to a thread by Lurch with 3 cabs for the various plans. Famewolf tested the 3rd one and it worked for him.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1250747&postcount=408) to a post by FZZF that has info for your setup of GPRS and MMS by hand
Here's another link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1355040&postcount=156) with cab files for T-Mobile US users:

Connecting XM6r4 to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, Click Here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=47766&d=1187759832) for the RUU with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this.
If you have problems flashing the above RUU on a G4, then extract this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29158&d=1152698784 and pull the nk.nbf file out of the above Splash Screen file and put it into the directory of this one and run this RUU. You can use the same method for flashing the Radio Only ROM (pull the nk.nbf file out of the radio only rom and put it into the directory of this RUU and run it). Thanks anichillus for that link! You can also check this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291215) for another RUU that is in English and seems to work for most G4 users. Thanks Vippie!
Weather Panel Setup
See my post in the Wizard forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307781) on how I setup WeatherPanel. It will give you a fixed dll with correct moon phases through 2008, new/better Moon phase icons, and a cool theme called Chameleon-240 QVGA. I dumped SBSH Pocket Weather after seeing this setup :)
Hermes Black Cabs that may be of Interest
Transcriber can be added back into XM6r4 by using the Black 3 Add-on CABs file (http://sinisterfrog.com/getblack/Black%203%20Add-on%20CABS.rar). There may be others in it that may be of interest also for some. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested).
Turning off Word Auto Completion
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311441).
Auto Completion for Spanish
User peu found the file to change the auto completion of words to Spanish. You can check his post here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1371686&postcount=277) for details and a link.
Skinning the Dialpad
You can find skins for this dialpad HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685). See image attached below for an example.
Skinning MortPlayer
MortPlayer is very skinnable. Check out the qVista example attached below. You can find qVista here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/themes-skins/136128-qvista-skin-fpr-mortplayer-supporting-qvga-vga-landscape-portrait-square.html
More skins can be found here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=23
Or create your own skins by reading this: http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/skinhelp.html
BatteryStatus (for Overclocking, CPUScalar, and much much more)
BatteryStatus is a very popular utility around here and for good reasons. Currently its in a beta phase and the author is releasing new versions of the beta constantly so I decided not to put it in the rom and let people install whatever build of it they want. Also, some versions of BatteryStatus have been known to cause excessive battery drain, so be aware of that too. You can find it in the Official BatteryStatus thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751) and if you do use it, feel free to give feedback on it in that thread as they are always looking for ways to improve it.
NOTE: If you do use overclocking, I recommend you use the OMAP Apps tab to setup Camera to be at 195Mhz as it can mess up the display if you are overclocked and doing the camera.
How to change Keyboard for other languages and layouts
This thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290967) has information for changing the keyboard to work for other layouts.

Info on Included Apps
FingerFriendlyFriends v1.0 Beta 2
For those wondering, PocketCM was replaced in XM6r4 for two reasons. First the author of PocketCM did not want it included in roms. Two, I like the FingerFriendlyFriends app (even though I hate the name :))
Check out these images of it:
http://www.jotto.no/fff/type.png http://www.jotto.no/fff/details.png
I would advise you to check out and participate in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340227&highlight=fingerfriendlyfriends if you like FingerFriendlyFriends. The official website is http://www.jotto.no/fff/ and has info on using and making the most of FFF
For those that don't want to run FFF and want the standard Conctact manager back you can do the following:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from "\Windows\PocketCM.exe" to :MSPOUTLOOK contacts.
Then if you want it back, you can change it back to \Windows\FingerFriendlyFriends.exe
Since FFF is in beta, if you need / want to upgrade, just drop the FingerFriendlyFriends.exe file in \Windows
SK tsync
Included in this rom is SK tsync, which will synchronize your phone to time servers. I've included in \Windows a special link called tsync silent.lnk . You can copy this link (with TotalCommander or use WinXplore) to your \Windows\Startup folder and it will allow your phone to sync its time after a reboot. Famewolf also wrote a Mortscript for easy install (since Mortscript is part of this rom). Click Here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=47772&d=1187763783) to download this script, then just place it on your phone and run it, and it will copy this shortcut to your Startup folder for you.
MobileJustice v0.8
MobileJustice is an Anti-theft app that you can configure on your phone. Just go to Start > Programs > Accessories and click on the MJConfig icon (first time in you will get a message that there isn't a config file, just click ok and it will be created). To us this, check the Enabled box, then click Add on the Allowed line. You can then setup your SIM card as an authorized one, and add other SIM cards IMSI numbers if you use more than one. Next click on Add next to Report to: and setup an SMS number (wife, friend, colleague) where you want the text message to go to if an unauthorized SIM is put into your phone. You can add multiple SMS numbers if you want. At this point, your phone will now be setup so that if an unauthorized sim is put in it, then it will send an SMS (with no record of it being sent) to your Report To list on the next boot (you can test this by not setting up (or removing) the Allowed and then doing a soft reset).
For more advanced, you can turn on the Disp MsgBox at the top and then put in some text in the MsgBox text line. This will pop up a Message box on the screen of the phone after a boot, if an unknown sim is in the phone.
You can also enable RMon (bottom half of the screen), put in a pass phrase, and then turn on MsgBox (GPS and LocCall do not work on Wizards, and the other options haven't been implemented in this version). By doing this, you can now send an SMS to your phone in the following format:
+m passphrase message
Rmon will intercept the sms message (so it will not show up as a received message), and if the passphrase matches the one you put in the configuration, then it will pop up a message box on the phone with your message in it (so you can secretly send messages to the thief to possibly intimediate them (or whatever).
The project page for MobileJustice is located at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice/

This really is an excellent release :) Thank you, Mike, and happy Thanksgiving..
One remark though, for everyone who may see the QuickMenu popping up at the first boot after the flashing: You don't need to click anywhere to make QM disappear, it will hide itself after a few seconds and you can continue to the initial configuration of the Wizard.

I'm curious, what happens to my apps installed on my storage memory? Will I have to reinstall everything? I'm uprading from Release 3.
If your apps require registry entries more than likely you will have to reinstall them..they may or may not keep your settings depending on whether the settings were kept in the file or in the registry. (usually the registry)...any documents or files stored on the card should be fine however.
Here is a mortscript which may be of use to people reinstalling...it's called Reload..I am not the original author..I just made a few changes.....these instructions are taken from the Readme.txt inside:
How to setup:
1)Extract Reload.zip to the root of your storage card.
2)Place cab files in the CabsAuto folder if you want to the cab to be automatically installed to the phone storage.
3)Place cab files in the CabsManual folder if you want to be able to choose where to install the cab.
4)Place file in the Backup.zip file that you want to be restored to root of phone.
ie. If you wanted example.jpg to be placed in the \Windows folder, place example.jpg in the Windows folder of the zip file.
5)Place file in the SDBackup.zip file that you want to be restored to Storage Card.
*Please note that the cabs files placed in the CabsAuto folder need to conform to only asking the user for the installation destination, then showing installation successful/unsuccessful. Otherwise you might encounter some problems. You should place cabs that don't conform in the CabsManual folder, or adjust these cabs with programs such as WinCE CAB Manager.
###############################################
How to use:
2)Execute Reload.mscr. This will initiate the script that will first install the CabsAuto, then CabsManual, restore the files in the Backup.zip file if it exists, and finally restore the files in the SDBackup.zip file if it exists..
###############################################
Please note that files in CabsAuto are cleared out as they are installed so you may want to have a "CabsAuto.save" you copy over before a Reload.

This looks like an amazing release. I haven't flashed my phone since TNT 4.0, but I am going to try this tomorrow night for sure. Just one question, does this have the fixes so that there are no problems with the missed call notifications when using GPRS or during another call?
Thanks a lot for your hard work again mfrazzz!

What about the pagepool and the free RAM ?
6meg PagePool. You can see free ram after a clean install in the image posted in the first thread. Roughly 25meg of Program Memory, and 42meg of Storage.

As stated this is mentioned as a known issue in the first post still. Never got from its right what the fix was (and may just be an issue with 318).

Which could be causing my problem? My girlfriend isn't getting my texts and she has verizon. Is it the 2.19 radio rom, this rom, or the T-mobile settings I chose?

Texting works fine for me on Cingular/AT&T. The ROM is fine, and so is the T-Mobile 2.19UK radio. My guess is its your settings for T-Mo. Maybe someone on T-Mobile can help you with your settings (and did you check what was available from the 2nd post where I point to various places for settings for the various carriers?)

No it has not been applied (thats why I provide it as a cab in the first post). This is requried for those on Cingular/AT&T if they use a Radio rom higher than 2.19. Some on other providers have found it helps. You just have to try it and see (main reason is for missed calls and sms messages).

heres a little question
I just installed the rom and I have to say it is waaay better than what I tried before. A little annoying problem bugs me, a battery meter on the side that is in the way of the HTC task manager. I'd prefer to have the HTC task manager.
I took a screenshot, its on the top right corner

I'm noticing a problem with the battery meter. Either this release greatly enhances the Wizard's power efficiency or the meter isn't reporting properly. After more than an hour's use on WiFi, its still reporting 100%.

See mfrazz instructions for installation on page 1.

Under start select QuickMenu than option and uncheck {replace system's start-menu}, and you will get the old style today menu when you press start, but you can still select this new style by pressing the 4 color windows logo (top left corner) this way you can have both options.
If you only want the old style uncheck {Auto start when system start.}
I like the first option because you can get battery percentage on the top bar and you can also have X-button to close programs.

wktask does a much better job of handling the "x button" close and also offers a application launcher (I believe it's button 4 (voice) to activate wktask and then up arrow to show the launcher...left and right cycle through the "tabs")

I also used Hbutton to map a button to close apps. I am trying to learn some of the programs in this build that I am not familiar with. Played with this build all day figuring some things out and setting my phone up in a way that makes sense to me.

By default clicking on X closes an app...wktask has the whole "hold to close" or I think it even supports the "swipe right to minimize"...so how exactly are you using it where wktask isn't sufficient.
I'm not poking fun or anything like that..I'm actually interested...if wktask is lacking something maybe we missed it in beta testing.

I looked at wktask and didn't understand the program. I had never seen it before, and hadn't seen seen some of the other programs in this ROM.
As I said I played with it all day figuring what works for me.
I'm not complaining or trying to argue, just reporting what worked for me in hopes it helps someone else. It took me most of the day to stumble on the way to get the start menu to open the old way. So I replied to Tynkrrbell question to help him and others that read this.
In the past and now I use smartskey to close programs, but sometimes I would forget and click the X. The programs were hidden but still running but I had the close all option. Now I have it setup to close.

I'll ask the usual question....did you flash to a provider rom first such as tmobile's 2.26 before you installed R4? As the author states in his initial posts this is to prevent extended rom corruption....the phone will try to read from the extended rom occasionally...if it is corrupted it will try over and over and over, running the battery down.
Do you have push email running where it's polling the exchange server constantly? This will drain battery. The IR beam is enabled by default on bootup...You can use a program called vjvolubilis with the -iroff command in your startup to turn it back off. (try a google on vjvolubilis..pm me if you still can't find it)

In addition to what famewolf stated, make sure your battery is at 100% before you start. I used to have this problem some times even when going back to TMO 2.26, and it seemed related to the battery being around 60-75%.

First, have to say that XM6rX's have been the most stable when you're primarily moving in weak signal areas and moving between systems TMO<->AT&T<->EinsteinPCS. While the NBD's and TNT's are a little more responsive, voice quality suffers. Customers state I sould like I'm in a tunnel regardless of radio, and they sounded like they were on the death star.
Thanks mfrazzz!!!
Has anyone used a T9 dialpad w/XDAr3/4? I would like to send SMS by T9 instead of the slider keyboard or stylus.

There are a few keyboards available you can install as a cab to the rom...let me save you some time..the one known as "touchpal" does not work with this rom... PocketCM Keyboard works fine but cannot be included in a rom due to the author's wishes and the fact he puts a built in expiration date in the program. There are a few others floating around but I'd start with the pocketcm one and see if it suits your purpose....if it doesn't...do a search here on this site for "happy tapping keyboard"...another one known to work with this rom...
*note* PocketCM Keyboard does try to guess the word you are spelling....happytappingkeyboard is just a larger keyboard..it doesn't "guess".

The dialpad takes up the entire screen..how would you propose to use it and be able to see the message you are typing...the small area where the #'s show up? No WM6 doesn't support this that I know of and I don't see it as a useful feature when you have both a real keyboard and an overlay one available.

Anyway, there was a standalone today plugin for mortplayer, but I don't know if it works with the current beta. Have a look at the mortplayer webpage, perhaps in the forums there, you can find some more information.

Is it possible to put the Phone Pad ClassID info in a cab or could you provide the registry entries?
I'm sure you know this, but just to reference what I'm talking about, here is the link to the wiki and please look under "Set Default SIP."

Certain skins such as qvista have multiple display's including both a car display and a "navibar" which is a single line that appears at the top of the screen allowing control of mortplayer. That or the plugin mentioned previously is about the closest you are going to come. Mortplayer is not intended to be controlled by other programs.
Since you installed HTC home on R4 without issues perhaps you could give some suggestions to the person who says they "can't see their today screen" when they installed HTC home..specifically the location of the cab file you installed?

I think it was actually for wm5 because that is what I was using when I downloaded it. With wm5 it wouldn't update weather thru gprs but with wm6 everything works good (that was the main reason I upgraded) . I am using htc home customizer with it to change icons, tabs, etc. I have used this combo with xm6r3, xm6r4, and original 2.25 wm5 cingular roms with no problems.

Thanks!
Touch scrolling is already in the rom. If by touchflo you mean "the cube"...unless you can find a standalone cab..you are not going to.

did you go back to Button's ROM , unlock/supercid with Lokiwiz and the stock ROM to upgrade IPL/SPL, before flashing XM6R4 ?
tnx pepcisko for your quick response but i did everytng before flashing xm6r4 that you mentioned.
now my phone is stuck at the boot loader. i can't roll back to any other roms and the only rom that starts to load is xm6r4 but get stuck at 99%. so i don't know what to do now.

If it stops at 99% and gives the 302 error then it's not cid unlocked contrary to what you keep telling us. Install the provider rom that was on it back. A provider rom won't care about the cid lock.

Did you try that? If you open up a web page in pie and press your finger to the screen (somewhere in the middle) and scrolll the finger up and down the page scrolls with you....the same when in other screens where you have scrollbars...
The contacts program does it's own scrolling with the scroll bar on the right..just slide your finger up and down it.....

In addition to the link posted by mfrazzz in the first couple of posts you can also find a few more dialer skins in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321060&highlight=touch+dialer+skin
Basically you grab the zip of choice and unzip it to \Windows overwriting the files there... (if you get a message that the files are in use or protected then you need to use total commander to do the unzip and overwrite...it's never given me that problem)

Thanks to Mrfrazzz for this release.
I've been using XMR3 continuously since it's release and it was just right for me.
So I thought I'd give XMR4 a go and see what new additions there are.
In XMR3 I wasn't so sure about Pbar but got used to it so I'll probably be the same with QuickMenu (i.e. after a day or two of playing around).
I'm not sure I'll get used to FFF but I understand why PocketCM can't be included, and I can install it myself anyway.

OK, everything seems fine with this ROM, apart from TodayAgenda
I tried to switch it on in the settings page, but as soon as I select the TodayAgenda the screen seems to lock up and only a soft reset will fix it.
I tried re-installing TodayAgenda and it can be selected now, but it is not possible to change any of the options as they are "greyed out".
I'm going to try a hard reset and hopefully that will fix it.
Has anyone else experienced any problems with TodayAgenda?

If you are flashing the rom but when you get done, you are still on the same rom you started with then your rom is not CID unlocked. You need to follow the instructions on the sticky's at the top of the forum to get your phone cid unlocked which will probably involve downgrading your ipl/spl.

a sim-unlocked phone doesn't mean it's cid-unlocked. Just follow the instructions (for G3)
1. downgrade to Button's ROM
2. install EnableRapi.cab from the ExtROM in Button's ROM, install to memory
3. run LokiWiz and sim-unlock the phone
4. run LokiWiz and CID-unlock the phone
5. flash the official T-Mobile ROM to get higher IPL/SPL and avoid future problems with corrupted extrom
6. flash wm6
for G4, have a look in this forum, detailed instructions are here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
one note - if your current ROM doesn't start correctly and only the 3color bootscreen appears, the updater will work fine, just connect the MDA to the PC via USB (the word USB will appear in the screen of the MDA)

I upgraded the ROM from the latest T-Mobile Rom last night on my friend's T-Mobile MDA. So far it is awesome he loves it. I found today that there are a couple issues with MMS Messaging that I am trying to figure out.
1. When enterring a contact in the "To:" field it does not link to the outlook contacts, it instead shows suggested words. You can tap the word "to" and it will go to the contact list no problem.
2. When trying to select a file to send no file names or pictures are displayed just empty square boxes, you can tap the box and it will go to the next sub folder, if it is a folder. There are no thumbnails or files listed so it is impossible to navigate to select a picture or video.

I tried a hard reset and still get the same problem accessing the TodayAgenda options from the settings page (i.e. the screen freezes), so I unzipped the ROM file again and re-flashed, but still get the same problem :(
Is it possible the ZIP file can be corrupted when downloading, in which case I need to download it again?
I have actually found a way around it by accessing the TodayAgenda options via the Today screen (i.e. a long press on the TodayAgenda part of the screen to bring up the sub menu)

ROM itself if great. Speedy, and has almost ALL the programs I use already installed... two thumbs up...
Activesync, however, leaves something to be desired.
Using activesync 4.5, with 'advanced network functionality' disabled, will not connect. Gives "ActiveSync cannot connect to the Windows Movile powered device. To troubleshoot the problem, click OK."
The troubleshooting program passes in every aspect, and directs me to micro$haft for more information.
Uninstall/reinstalled activesync, same issue - hard reset the phone back to new rom only, same issue. Happening on more than one system.
Any ideas on what to do next?

I'll ask the usual question....did you flash to a provider rom first such as tmobile's 2.26 before you installed R4? As the author states in his initial posts this is to prevent extended rom corruption....the phone will try to read from the extended rom occasionally...if it is corrupted it will try over and over and over, running the battery down.
Do you have push email running where it's polling the exchange server constantly? This will drain battery. The IR beam is enabled by default on bootup...You can use a program called vjvolubilis with the -iroff command in your startup to turn it back off. (try a google on vjvolubilis..pm me if you still can't find it)
I even went as far back as button's ROM, then t-mobile, then r4.
It's set to poll an imap server every 10 minutes, but that's nothing new ... not using push.
I've turned IR off.

What are you actually looking for?
Did you add the server source? That alone sets up your Exchange server connection and then you just run activesync to sync to the server. Then you just need to adjust the sync schedule to your preferences.

Where are you seeing Internet Calling and "Launch Music Player" in this rom? If you installed a 3rd party app (i.e. HTC HOME) the rom is not at fault if you have issues...it sounds like your trying to call htc audio player which is NOT included in this rom.
In generic terms, to address your first question...voip requires wifi for decent response...you can use palringo.com's client however to have voice chats (like a walkie talkie) for free and they support edge and even just plain gprs fine.

Why do you think that is? Is there anything loading that can be canceled in order to free up 4/5megs of ram? While using Opera I really need that extra 4/5 megs of ram.

Mine is running almost 25mb on program memory and around 35mb on storage memory( lower than mfrazz screenshots in initial post because I've installed a few other apps to main storage memory). If you need the extra memory for opera, why not install on storage card and setup to store all internet files on storage card? I had no problems using opera from storage card.

I'm baffled by this one. If someone is on XM6r3, can you see if this is the same behavior?
The workaround for this one is to click on the Subject line then click on the To line. At that point you can do Menu -> Add Recipients... . Or (as you indicated) you need to click on the word To: itself.
I do know that on WM6, I haven't seen MMS pull up contacts like SMS messages will do when you type on the To line. I'm just puzzled about the fact that Add Recipients is greyed out initially.
2. When trying to select a file to send no file names or pictures are displayed just empty square boxes, you can tap the box and it will go to the next sub folder, if it is a folder. There are no thumbnails or files listed so it is impossible to navigate to select a picture or video.

I'm assuming you have a G3 since you are claiming to have CID Unlocked. If you did all the steps, then flash this rom. If after you do that, this rom is on your phone, then you are CID Unlocked. If the rom doesn't change (and only the splash screens change) then you are NOT CID Unlocked.
Sorry, no other way (that I know of) to tell...

I'm trying to remember now, but I may have modified some of the cache items (like glyphcache and A2DP settings) between r3 and r4 (sorry, I made some changes many months ago and didn't note them at the time). Could be things like that are causing the difference. QuickMenu and WkTask are both very small so the difference is minuscule compared to what you are talking about.
If you are needing to get back memory, play with Advanced Config (found in the Toolbox) and you can lower things like glyphcache and similar to get memory back for Opera. Personally I'm running Opera too, and haven't noticed the need for that extra memory.

Yes, when you install Microsoft Voice Command you have to soft reset for things to start working right with it. I've ran into this myself where I try to press the button on my BT Headset and it doesn't work with MS VC. Then I remember I have to do the reset and it works from then on.

In my previous ROM, whenever the phone would ring it would popup the phone application and show who is calling. With this ROM, it only gives me the soft buttons with 'Answer' and 'Ignore'...there is no direct way to identify the called... i.e. I cannot decide if I want to answer the call or not. The phone application does popup after the call though...
Any clues?

While not a fix...a workaround is to install slide to unlock 2....it's popup on incoming calls is working fine.

jon_zon, I would HIGHLY recommend you remove your email address from the post above now that you and Peter have made contact directly. Posting an email address wide open in a public forum is just asking for trouble...
And thanks for taking this offline to work this issue guys. Please let me know the resolution and if its something I can make a change in the rom to more easily support this. I don't use Yahoo email, and to be honest, I don't do email (push, pop, or IMAP) directly on my phone so its not an area I'm real familiar with.

Just a quick note to say that I too can confirm this same behaviour. and to thank you for the workaround... I managed to hit that work around once a couple of days ago to get into the options, and then forgot what it was that I did to get there. However on my phone it does behave the exact same. If I try to go into the Options of the TodayAgenda from the "Today" screen settings the phone locks up and has to be soft reset.
Specifically Mine is an 8125 G3, that I just did the unlock reset proceedure on the day this ROM released. I'm running Cingular 2.25 IPL and SPL..

While keeping it XM6r4 "vanilla" and deleting everything from startup except capnotify, poutlook, & wifiinit, I'm having several lockups within the day.
Also, several times the dialpad has gone to white boxes for the buttons. I tried dialing with the white boxes, but no response. MDA wasn't locked up. I called the MDA from another phone. Phone rings, no changes on the display, and cannot pickup call.
Thinking it may be a bad flash, went back to 2.26... Flashed... same problems.
Downloaded XM6r4 again... back to 2.26... Flashed... same problems.
Big old POOP!!!
Went and looked at a Wing today. Both of their demo units were crap, with the displays rocking, the wrong direction, when the keyboard was slid out. I asked them if it was their version of the Tilt... They didn't get it.

so far I am enjoying this ROM. I have a question about auto complete storing new entries. on my old WM5 stock ROM everytime I typed a new word or phrase it would remember it (i guess in a custom dictionary) same with the new kaiser. For some reason, even with auto complete enabled this XM6 does not (R3) did not either. I checked on the Kaiser and it has a custome dictionary file in the windows folder but XM6 does not. Any help is appreciated. I use the onscreen keyboard usually and it makes it easier if it could remember common entries.
On a side note if any one knows how to get Outlook to remember the last filter applied (or start with a default category filter) I would love to hear it.
Mfrazz thanks for the great ROM again!

I have an 8125, and I’ve installed XM6r4: started with Button and moved up to factory installed specs. After installing XM6r4, I tried installing some 3rd party apps – games, weatherpanel, SPB stuff, etc. Every time, I get an error message stating, “The file … cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.”
I tried several things:
Deleting the installation files, downloading new ones, and trying to install those,
Placing all files on my phone and removing my storage card rather than installing from the storage card,
Reinstalling Button and installing various base ROMs (T-Mobile, Cingular, HTC, Faria, etc., then reinstalling XM6r4,
And I’m sure there’s more – I just can’t remember. The end result was always the same – still seeing that message and can’t install any progs.
I did try installing them after reinstalling Button and upgrading to a base ROM, prior to reinstalling XM6r4, and it worked – no error message. So it seems that the problem has something to do with my phone and XM6r4, but I’ve no clue what.
Please help? I’m sure it’s going to be something stupid, that I should have been able to figure out on my own, but I’m so frustrated and at my wits end!
As I said, I did play around with different specs, but my current specs are:
I/SPL = 2.25
RADIO = 2.25.11
OS = 10.1.0.811

Install R4 and before you install any of your USUAL cabs try installing the fix cab mfrazzz posted....if it installs cleanly then one of the cabs you are installing AFTER that is causing problems. Also try installing to both storage card and on the phone....perhaps it's having issues with the minisd card.

How often do you "hard reset"??? When you do this (every WM6 rom I've done it on at least) your clock will go back to like the rom build date (in this case August 2006). I don't think there is a way around that, but heck, if you hard reset you are starting from scratch anyway.
it makes my alarm go off about 7 or 8 times simultaneously.
You may also want to go download a copy of MemMaid (Trial version) and have it clean out your notification queue. But yeah, when you hard reset, you need to fix then time, THEN sync your calendar.
If someone comes knocking the sound of the knocking is playing a couple times over and is really anoying anyone have this issue as well?? Must admint i haven't tried a different sound for call waiting yet.
Can you explain this more? As far as I know the call waiting sound (beep-beep-beep or somesuch) works just like its supposed to by default. And yes it repeats. If I'm not going to answer a call waiting call, I hit the right soft key (Ignore) and it sends them to VM and I don't have to listen to that.
Also i spend thousands of hours on the phone and this is the only really usuable wm6 rom for the wizard that i found. (tried em all on this site) I also do a lot of conference calling and this one is the only to handle that without a hitch.
Thanks and that has always been my goal; to have a usable rom that makes these phones a real work tool and thats reliable. So far, for me, XM6r4 has been that way. And yes, over the past few days I've been on concalls lasting multiple hours with no glitches or anything (A few weeks ago when I was on another rom (not one of mine) I had the phone lock up on me if I was on a call for more than 45 mins. Not good IMO when you need your phone to "just work").
BTW: For those using TodayAgenda and having lockups: I haven't had a chance to try to reproduce this. But is there anyone using XM6r4 currently that can go to Settings -> Today and choose options on TodayAgenda successfully???

This is caused by WeatherPanel and some .ttf files that come with the default skin / theme. If you use the Chameleon theme (or some other theme) you won't have this issue. See this post for details on setting up with the Chameleon theme:

If you don't like chameleon, there are lots more themes over on ppcgeeks forums (just google weatherpanel themes)

Thanks very much for a perfect ROM. It's the fourth I've tried, and perfectly stable, quick, and has all the programs I want and very few I don't want or need. I use the Emansio (formerly vgsmail) client to get push IMAP e-mail (using the IMAP Idle command, not supported by WM6 directly) and this is the only ROM on which it has been stable, reconnects quickly, doesn't lose connection. The program is unfortunately very expensive now at the current exchange rate, but I had an older license, and it makes for a perfect push e-mail device without the memory overhead of flexmail.

To be honest I've given up looking at it now as I can access the TodayAgenda options from the sub-menu that appears when you tap & hold on the TodayAgenda screen itself.
I just need to remember not to click on TodayAgenda when in the settings>today screen or it freezes and needs a soft reset.

1) Learn to read the thread before asking questions already answered.
2) CID unlock your phone before trying to install non provider roms. (instructions in the "how to flash a rom" sticky at the top of the forum.)

Yep, I've noticed this myself. Luckily I haven't had to do a reset much on this ROM, but yeah, when I reset and it gets to the 3rd screen, I usually count to about 30 and if the spinner icon doesn't show up I usually hit the reset a second time and it starts up that time through.
Whats weird is that I use Sprite Backup and when it resets the phone (both times) its never hung. So it almost appears to me its some added app (as Sprite shuts off everything extra when it resets). I've wondered if its WeatherPanel, but haven't determined if thats the case yet.

BTW: I received my brand new AT&T Tilt today (HTC Kaiser). Yep, I'm upgrading my phone guys... (sorry, but AT&T had a deal over the Thanksgiving weekend I couldn't pass up and I wanted the GPS built in that the Tilt has). I'll continue to support my Wizard stuff while I can, but will most likely be selling off my Wizard soon on eBay.
I'll look at packaging up the OEM/SYS/ROM folders for XM6r4 and will release them for people to use if they want to cook their own version. But sorry to say, I don't think there will be an XM6r5 now (at least not coming from me).
Also, FingerFriendlyFriends was just released today as v1.0 (not beta). But its now a commercial product ($15) registration. Only minor changes from the beta version in this rom to the official version, so no need to upgrade, but its another Contact Manager app that now can't be put into custom roms :(

I have uploaded your R4 ROM to my Wizard for first time.
It works good, but i have 2 questions:
- i don't see Omapclock tool 0.4 ??
- i got 1x error from not found file StartClear.exe, but next reboot there are no problems.
And the Today screen has small problem. The used theme has white color fonts in taskmanager, but because it's transparent, white places in backgrond theme makes the some words not readable in the menu.
And because it's non-NL ROM, i need some GPRS settings for my Dutch T-Mobile. Who has the settings for me? I use Pocket Internet Totaal for it.

Yes, its a set of registry edits. They came from HowardForums (FameWolf pointed me to them).
Thanks mfrazzz! I finally just decided to give your rom a try for awhile. Checking it out now.

Mfrazzz, what do you mean this is the last release? I was having so much fun with your ROMs. Your R3 was great. This release (r4) was initially a bit much (too many toys) for me but I am quickly learning to use them all. So far, all the issues are minor with good workarounds. Overall, this is a great rom. Thanks for the hard work. I appreciate it.

Just upgraded to this rom on my G4 8125. Everything appears to be fine with the exception on my wi-fi connection. I am not getting an ip address on my wireless internet at home anymore. Therefore I am unable to get to any internet sites. It was previously working fine before the rom change. Is there any kind of fix or cab file I need to install.

Mfrazzz, what do you mean this is the last release?
Can you read it? He is going to use another new HTC device and sells very possible his Wizard away. That means he cannot verify and build working roms without Wizard. Or he needs free Wizard from somebody to continue the support :)
If we want support from him, we should give him support with free Wizard :P
I have tested ROM on Wizard and works great. The latest R4 is benchmarked and i'm surprised the read speed from Storage card is very high compared with Official WM5, but also with another WM6 ROM package here. Here are the values:
WM5: 778KB/s
Another WM6 ROMs: 1500KB/s
This ROM: 4766KB/s
I hope my SKTools benchmarking is not crazy...
There are many tools in ROM installed, but it has no Customizable step after upgrade and is immediately ready to go. Whoa.
Nice bootscreen, good menu, .NET2.0 installed. Most important and useful tools are installed. BT stereo connection confirmed.
No problem with CorePlayer benchmark: 116% speed.
I miss only Omapclock tool.

I actually have a possibility of obtaining a Wizard (8125) in the next month, so that would give me one to test roms on.

I made the choice of not putting overclocking in the rom as some love it, and some hate it. Then those that love it do it differently. Personally, I used BatteryStatus and it worked very well for me. So just add whichever you want and you are off to the races :)

Is there any program in this rom that lets you change the font color on the today screen? Some backgrounds I would like to use have white and it makes it very hard to see the text on the today screen with a non-dark background.

Hi mfrazz, i've just installed your rom and i have to say that it seems quite fast and stable, at least so far.
I have a problem though: i've disabled the phone skin (i really hate all the touch 'blackish' crap) through hklm\security\phone\etc...etc (i don't remember the exact path) to revert to wm6 default phone dialer. After reset, the default dialer is showed but all the keys (1,2,3,etc) are missing. I think that you've probably removed all the graphic files from the rom.
Could you pls post a patch or an archive containing all these missing resources?
Thank You very much.
Bye
PS: just a remark: while the rom is quite fast, it takes about 3 min to boot.

The touch dialer was installed by default because people were having problems with bluetooth on the regular dialer but not when the touch dialer was installed. You can find various skins that make the touch dialer look totally different in the dialer skin links on mfrazzz's initial post.

The rom has nothing to do with batterystatus (and I'm using batterystatus with no issues using scaling etc) so make sure you didn't install an early version of batterystatus that didn't have those features.

I've wondered if its WeatherPanel, but haven't determined if thats the case yet.
my phone was also hanging on soft resets, at time I had to reset 4-5 times in a row before it would boot. one time a got an error message titled WKTask Error which said "buttons_qvga.png faild to load this image file! please select other skin"
I have removed wktask from startup and it does not hang anymore. if someone can figure out this error, I think it is the reason it is hanging.

Really weird, how can a dialer affect BT behaviour? Anyway, i'd really like to revert to the default dialer not much because of the graphic (i know i can use skins for the touch dialer) but because of the wm6-included smartdialer that IMHO is ways better than the htc one.
Thanks for your answer anyway. Bye

Simply copy the file to your PC, edit it and then copy it back in \windows.
Files in rom are locked, that's true, but you can overwrite them by copying a file with the same name over them.

That seems to be true, however, the old file remains in ROM.
They seem to co-exist and smartskey keeps getting the old file.
I found that out when I installed the newer version of messenger.
It seems to copy over the files in ROM, but the files are still there, also the old ones...
That completely screwed up my msn messenger and windows mobile live.
After I deinstalledc the newer version, the old fileswere still there to use...
Gues with smartskey it does the same, as the INI doesn't seem to load.
It keeps loading the old ini file...
What I mactually want, is tmail.exe not to close, but just to minimise.
If I use smartskey to close it, even if I edit the ini file (and save it as unicode) it keeps closing tmail.exe completely...
or messaging for those who don't know what tmail.exe is...
It used to work on my old wm5 rom, but then I didn't have smartskey in the rom.

Problem solved guys..
Apperently all the task managers that are working together conflicted somewhere in the OK really closes options, if you understand what I mean...
I also had iLaucher, and they also include a task manger, then Quicklaunch and WKtask..
It's just a little over the top if you selct them all to OK really closes instead of minimises..
Works fine now...
Still had the issue when upgrading MSN (messenger mobile) though..anyone know why it keeps connecting to GPRS and doesn't use wifi?

actually I meant Voice Command. Which is what is referenced at the beginning. Voice tags were used in WM5. I quite like them as they are a bit more reliable as they match your voice.
That said Voice command doesnt work ! I get :
Voice command has encountered a problem, Restart voice command and try again.
I'm running GB 1.5, so I guess I'd best try Yank 1.6 and see if it makes a difference.

So far this is the best WM6 ROM I have tried.
That is to say I have run it for more then one day, working on 6 days now :)
Usually something bombs and I flash back to stock.
THe only problem I am having is sycing files.
I am running Active Sync 4.5 and can sync Tasks, notes, calander, contacts but not my documents.
Active sync counts down the docs like it is syncing and disconnects when done.
And then they are not there.
I had to transfer my files to my card adn copy them from the card to my docs to get them.
Any ideas ?????

You have to change an entry in the registry. I'm sure i've seen it somewhere but i' don't remember the exact key. Try searching the registry for the string "\storage card\My Documents" and modify it.

Look in your "Remove Programs" list under Start, Settings and see if it has gone blank...if so, something has corrupted the program list and you are going to have to hard reset to fix it. (It may be indicative of a bad flash so you may prefer to reflash r4 instead of the hard reset)

One more thing: with 240MHz OC, the read speed Storage card raised more than 8500+ kB/s. My mouth fell open to see the high values. No one ROM can do such speeds. It makes it one of the fastest ROMs in technical ways. But it's also because you use a bit older WM6 build compared to another ROMs.

I use now your ROM after testing some ROMs here, it's one of the best roms and i can navigate faster thanks to the better Startmenu mod. (i have benchmarked all ROMs to compare the results. - i post them soon online on another topic)

Please be aware that XM6R4 does enable FILE cache's which will affect the read/write #'s you are getting. A rom is not going to be able to change read and write speeds of a hardware device which means you should be getting the same consistant PHYSICAL speeds on ALL roms....cacheing will speed some things up just like on other physical media.

Batterystatus not only enables overclocking but does dynamic scaling meaning it overclocks when you need it and then slows back down when you don't..in fact it will UNDERCLOCK as well when the phone is idle..saving battery life.

What are you actually looking for?
Did you add the server source? That alone sets up your Exchange server connection and then you just run activesync to sync to the server. Then you just need to adjust the sync schedule to your preferences.
Thanks, I set it up via my PPC, and it works fine, but not via Active Sync on my PC.

I think you need to calm down, maybe a few prozac will do the job.
As it happens, it started working several resets later. Up till that point it wasn't doing very much. Go figure.
I might also add that I couldn't get the 1.5 UK version working (errors) and in the end I had to settle for the 1.6 US version.

I have tried the newer R4 for a while now and just like R3 better. So I switched back. I think I am a R3 for life kind of guy. What I am wondering is if there was a way for you to tell me how to fix the ringer problem. I know you fixed this issue in R4 so you must have a solution. Could you post the solution for me? I am referring using the comm manager to silence the ringer you must play the ringer to enable it.
One last request, what file enables and disables the wifi connection? I replaced pbar in R3 with wktasks from R4 and don't have an easy (fast) way to turn on/off the wifi. The comm manger is just so slow to load.
Thank you for your hard work and producing such a wonderful rom(s). Of all the roms I have tried, I always come back to R3. Nobody creates a more stable and usable rom. I use this phone everyday as a pda and a phone. Your roms are only ones that never give me problems.

This is getting a bit on the silly side.
I tried installing software suggested on one of the intiial threads and it wouldn't even run due to errors.
I tried the US version, which also didn't work initially even after a reset (I believe I mentioned 'several' resets) but at least it didn't give me errors.
I mention this briefly on the thread where I obtained the rom that I am trying out and where the software was suggested. If this is hijacking a thread then guilty - but I just don't see it, I was just asking for a bit of help - seeing if anyone else had shared this experience.
In the meantime I reset my phone for another reason and decide to give it another crack - and yes it works.
Now believe it or not I have a lot of respect for the time you spend helping people on this forum, but I really don't understand where you are coming from in this instance.

Hi,
I only recently got hold of a Wizard (T-Mobile Vario), having had a Himalya (Q-Tek 2020) before. Because I had some trouble with BT GPS, I ran into this forum. WOW!! There's a lot going on here!!
I've been reading through the entire Wizard part of the forum and thanks to some of you guys I've allready been able to remove the SIM lock and CID lock. I've even flashed my ROM once allready ;), with dferreira's WM5SE rev 5.0
Since I'm not one to bet on only one horse, I wanted to try some more, so I found this thread/ROM. Looks and feels great (a little slow perhaps?), so it seems this one is going to be the one for me :).
If only I can get a little problem solved. Having flashed the ROM, I obviously want to sync all my data back on it. Contacts, Calender, Tasks, Notes, Email all work fine, but then it wants to do the files...
And it takes forever... AS has been trying now for about three hours straight to get my files synced, but it still isn't finished. It looks like it starts over and over and over and over...
I now see that stainlesspc seems to be having the same problem, but I don't see the answer to the problem. Anyone?

As I state in the first post, I recommend running BatteryStatus on this rom and setting up the OMAP and the CPUScaling parts of it. It will help (eliminate?) the lag you sometimes get with WM6.

I've never seen this on the rom before. Have you tried rebooting your PC, and rebooting your phone, and retrying? Also might be worth uninstalling ActiveSync and reinstalling (I assume you are using ActiveSync 4.5 (latest version) as that is a Requirement of all WM6 roms and stated in the first post).

Hi,
I only recently got hold of a Wizard (T-Mobile Vario), having had a Himalya (Q-Tek 2020) before.

I believe you want to go into the activesync or usb settings on pc and disable the "enhanced communications" or something to that effect....it causes the "keeps restarting" issue you mentioned. Normally this fixes the problem however in strainlesspc's case it's still occurring.

There is actually part of me likes the stability of r3 better than r4 myself. r4 seems to work very well for me, but there are a few small issues still.
Here's the fix that was posted by its right:
this is just for proove my work, about the issue:
When you open start/settings/Phone then directly press ok button, your personal tone will change to the default
delete FDRM folder from
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\System\]
enjoy
This fixes both the problem where your ringtone changes back to the default one if you don't play a ringtone in the phone settings, and it also fixes the switch to vibrate and back issue where the phone says its in ring mode but it vibrates instead.

Oops, think I missed that. I'll give it a try the minute I get home tonight

I am using AS 4.5 (it's free, so why bother with lower versions ;)) as you mentioned. And from Windows 3.11 upwards I'm used to rebooting after every time the PC hiccups...

All right, I'll give this a try later.
Thnx for responding so quick!

will you be releasing a lite version?

Now i read something about read caching in XDAM6R4, which causes high values in benchmarking, and it's only rom too so far. All another ROMs have almost same values arond 1500 KB/s.
What is the good point about read caching? Or is there some bad point, why another ROMs don't use caching (for example on Storage Card).

No. I will be releasing the ROM/SYS/OEM folders and will let people create their own flavor of XM6r4. But I have no interest in trying to maintain a Full and Lite version like I did with XM6r3. I know some liked the Lite version, but far fewer downloaded that than the full version.

In case you didn't see it, I've released the XM6r4 Cooking Pack. Check out this thread:

Adding cacheing uses memory...using schaps advanced config you can alter the file and glyph cache's used although the defaults are pretty close to optimal for most users. Other rom's do use cacheing to some extent but I can't speak as to specifics since my experiences with other roms was unpleasant and I quickly came back to the XM6R3/R4 roms.

I'll say again I don't understand why anyone wants a "lite" version...Can someone explain it to me? You want him to intentionally leave space in the rom unused when it can't be used for anything else..as opposed to just deleting the shortcuts if you don't want to run the apps?
Example:
I've got a dvd I'm gonna fill with freeware and bring to your house..the dvd CAN hold 4.7gb but I'm only gonna fill it half way even though I have more software you could use....the remaining space is wasted and can't be written to anymore (Assume the dvd is finalized for this analogy).
Why waste the space? It's not going to give you more phone storage..and if you are not running the apps it's not going to use any ram.

Its kinda like when you visit someones house, and its neat and clean. Just don't open the closet, as thats where all the crap is pilled up.
Out of sight, out of mind? Not always.

Can anyone tell me how to disable or uninstall the Aserg's Touch Scroll Only?

I flashed this ROM image earlier. I'd previously been running the t-mobile 2.26 ROM, which I installed just a few days ago.
I can't see the dialling pad when I turn my phone on and I'm asked to enter my PIN, so I can only do it with the slide out keyboard. The part of the screen where the keypad should be is just blank white.
I've tried taking all the shortcuts out of the startup folder (moved them somewhere else) but it hasn't helped.
Also, my Orange Plus application that came with my SIM card no longer has the option to check my credit balance - there used to be a Pay As You Go menu entry in it but now there isn't.
Any ideas on how to get this functionality back?
I'm still using the same radio ROM I was using with WM5. I didn't have these two problems before the upgrade.
Device Information (subject to typos):
ROM version: 10.1.0.811.WME
ROM date: 8/11/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.26.10.105
..
Model No.: WIZA200
(T-Mobile MDA Vario, aka HTC Wizard)
UPDATE:
I also had a problem with ActiveSync 4.5. At first it was synchronisng the files over and over again in a loop so I deleted the association with the PDA and started again. After that it failed to synchronise the files at all. It reported that it had finished but it hadn't copied any files from the PDA.
For now, I've flashed it back to the T-Mobile v2.26 WM5 ROM and it's mostly back the way it was.
The missing functionality in my Orange Plus (STK Service) is still missing. Any ideas on how to get that back would be appreciated.

Is there a way to change the color of the text on the today screen? It's impossible to have any background with white as the color or somewhere in there.

The today them you install determines the color of text etc...you need to find a theme that sets it to the colors you want.

No one has replied the 3 time this has been asked so it's good odd's they don't know. If I really wanted to disabled it I would either
1) Do a search on aserg and find the thread where it originated then ask THEM how you could disable it via registry. They can also probably tell you how to adjust the sensitivity of it.
2) Flash a custom version of R4 with the aserg package removed.

thanks for replying, seemed like noone was acknowledging the question whether they knew or not. Sill trying both of ideas you mention. still no luck. Search results arent giving me what I want. And i've tried cooking the same ROM from his kitchen minus the HTC scroll, but after flashing and trying 4 times, when the device starts, I cant get pass the setup scree, Does not respond

Here's a program I use to change colors of today text, menu text, title bars, tap and hold dots, and a few others. Using pictures and video program, you can set any picture as background.
