i installed jigg's wm6 on my atom & during auto-install, i installed the "unlock ext rom" application
so is there any registry edit tat i can do to lock unlock the ext rom without this app? at this moment i wanna lock it
instead of using apps, i prefer understanding the system.... it wud b great if som1 helps me learn :)
-----------------
another question.... how to make the startmenu RECURSIVE? is it possible without installing any app? i saw wisbar can do it but tats too bulky.... i dont mind using app for it if its small & lightweight

The extended ROM is a DOC partition mounted as hidden. We are lucky that it is not locked. So, the proper term is hide/unhide because a locked extended ROM would mean you can write on it, but after a soft reset, all changes are gone. Now, why did I use the name Unlock for the CAB? I didn't know the difference at the time I made that CAB. :)
These are the registry settings altered when you UNHIDE the partition, you can compare these settings when they are hidden to know the difference.

You can try AlenSoft QuickMenu for a CASCADING menu, or WisBar Lite. I'm not sure if this is what you mean by RECURSIVE.
cheers,
