Now I have upload the tool package ""temp.rar" help you upgrade WM5 to WM6.
step:
1. unzip to c:\windows\temp
2. enter engineering mode for HP68x8
3. excute c:\windows\temp\Device Software Update Utility.exe
4. delete all file except .exe and ROM file when show "NEXT" dialog.
that it can not update Eboot, so you don't wrong upgrade fail, if so you can re-upgrade. Eboot same like PC's BIOS. and ROM same like PC's OS.
5. click "next" to upgrade ROM until sucessful.

有时间写下怎么移植的,leixu的方法,我只是做了几遍,做点补充
需要工具，XBETA，RomEditor，G'Reloc

前面两个是解包封包的工具，第三个是地址定位工具，如果只是DIY ROM，ROMEDITOR已经足够，XBETE也是解包工具，但解出来

的包分区分得很细致，方便对ROM里的文件类型进行辩认。ROMEDITOR解出来的文件只有一个目录，在 里面找出某个软件简直大海捞针

下面开始！
1、用ROMEDITOR将刷机包diskimage_Ver.nb0解开，得到imgfs_raw_da ta.bin和imgfs_removed_data.bin，DUMP目录
imgfs_raw_data.bin文件57M，这个就是系统部分了，前面那个不用管。

2、将DUMP目录改名备份，也可以在ROMEDIT解imgfs_raw_data.bin时直接终止。 (不过ROMEDITOR对新内核的rom无效了,dll里面是空的.)

3、运行Xbeta_DumpROM.exe，它会解开imgfs_raw_data.bin文件，并且区 分得很仔细。

4、将两个注册表文件备份出来。default.hv、user.hv

5、进行相关的驱动替换，驱动都在OEM目录里。\\imgfs_raw_data.bin.dump\O EM\a3b86cf7-0a1a-4df0-b0c4-d74afe55b5f1\
touch.dll，Wavedev.dll，pxa27x_keypad_Us.dll，这三个分别为触 摸屏，声卡，键盘驱动，加iPAQUtil.dll(重要) 覆盖时是考文件夹格式的驱动 其它的自己摸索。

6、将imgfs_raw_data.bin.dump目录下的SYS和OEM目录复制出来放在工具的同一 目录下。将imgfs_raw_data.bin文件复制到rom目录下

7、运行Xbeta__CreateROM.exe，功能是形成一个DUMP目录并封包，运行Xbeta_ CreateROM.exe，弹出BuildOS.exe，点击上面的绿色开始键（System让它默认不 要改它),当build os完之后左下角会显示个Done字，先别关掉这个窗口。这时你可以看见多了一个temp目录.再将img fs_raw_data.bin.dump根目录下的零散文件复制到temp/DUMP目录下。

8、将备份的注册表也复制到dump目录下（因为Xbeta_CreateROM.生成DUMP目录时会根 据里面的HV文件重新生成注册表文件，但由于这些系统也是东拼西凑来的，所以生成的注册表根本 没法使用）


9、这时还要修改一下驱动模块，双击temp目录进去里面,把G'Reloc.exe复制到里面去.将DU MP目录改名为SYS，运行G'Reloc.exe点击DOIT等一小会直到DONE出现（"misar大侠新出的这个工具解决了原来需手工算MODULE的问题（手工修改麻烦死的），用G'Relo c.exe生成出的ROM就是MODULE地址全部修正后的。"）。等右下角变成done之后就关掉G'Reloc.exe，再把sys目录重命名回dump，再返回bu ild os画面。这下可以关掉build os了，直接点击右上角的X吧，然后又会一直DOS刷屏……

10、做完上面的工具我们就可以将DUMP考到工具的同一目录下,用ROMEDIT封包，到此整个移植过程 完毕。(要将原diskimage_Ver.nb0留在根目录里,因为封包是更新rom,不是 新建一个)

first you need enter to Engineering mode, press both "_" and soft-reset until HP word. I'm not suggestion you upgrade on RW6815 device.
this ROM only for RW68x8. (include 6818,6828)

Yes, I'm want to building ATOM ROM for HP6828 with Atom ROM.
But I can't get Atom ROM, I have download one from this forum, But my ROM-tools can not dump, error messager is Deny access!

Yes, You can update this ROM, but please sure your PBL is 1.0.1
update steps:
1. make sure your device PBL is 1.0.1, if not please flash to 1.0.1
2. press "_" both key and soft-reset untill show HP PBL 1.0.1.
3. copy update program into c:\windows\; and run the Device Software Update Utility.exe; click "next";
4. delete eboot.nb0 and click "next".
5. Hard-reset when done!

Please try this way:

1. unload the battery,
2. press "_" both key, don't loose.
3. load the battery and power-on
waiting the white screen, and reflash.

Important: don't flash the Eboot.nb0, please delete Eboot.nb0 when flash disk_image_ver.nb0 during!!!! this is very safe method.

You know, that if you want to flash by miniSD card, nb0 file must be 65 536 000 bytes length. If it is 65 536 012 bytes length, then you must cut first 12 bytes. When you flash by hpRUU with old version bootloader - it needs header, that's why nb0 is 65 536 012 bytes length.

2) After flashing to WM6, if I do not like it, can I use HP's official 1.01.03 to downgrade directly? If cant do it directly, is there any roundabout way of downgrading? Or am I stuck with WM6 once I upgraded to it?

3) Can the flash program in your temp.rar file be used on Win XP x64?

4) In the 'WWE' folder of your FTP folder, there is a file named 'WWEWOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll', how do I use it? Or can I just use the 'SRS_WOWHD_ARM.CAB' file under your root directory (is this file meant for chinese rom only?)?

The camera when it works, the display is kinda flicker a lot. If can't work, will show the Today overlay. Hope u know what I means.

If your rw6828 still running HP original firmware and the IPL version is 1.0.5, go to the following website

to download the old HP firmware (first release) which runs on IPL v1.0.1. Run it to downgrade your PDA version.

waiting anxiously for your 1219 rom. i think it's also a good idea to post a bunch of suggested cabs on your site such as the htc touch stuff which works great with your rom (tried and tested). This could include all the newest versions of htc album, touchflo etc... I don't think that the htc cube is advisable at this point in time but i think that things like htc home plugin are essential for the overall improvement of user experience.

the htc media manager is like a gift from heaven. i like everything about it. it will give your pda a whole new life.

perhaps when i'm done i could send you a collection of recent cabs that i used on my phone in order for you to post on your site.

you can flash with SD card if your are using 1.0.5, you need to cut the bytes and rename exectly as "diskimg", place this file in the root of your SD card and happy flashing.. it works on my rw6828...

I also have the same problem. I guess it has something to do with the overclocking of the rw6828 processor to 512MHz. Previously, while still running on WM5 on HP ROM, I tried using XCPUScalar to overclock the stock 416MHz to 512MHz did cause the display to behave like what I experience now with the new ATOM EXEC ROM (0.7b.0). I believe rw6828 is not able to copy with 512MHz speed.

Is it possible to switch the R1221 ROM to 416MHz speed? Please advise.

Yes, 1221_RC1 ROM is having problems with the screen for the hprw6828. Do not use it!

Instead use 1221 ROM. I tried it and it is good for my needs. I didn't check if the LED lights are flashing or not because personally i don't care too much. The flash is not working but that also is not a problem because the camera app has an amazing night time mode that is far better than flash. If your life depends on the flash you can get it to work by doing a test on it in the Diagnostics app.

There is no Windows Live (windows messenger) so you should go to this link and download the latest version:

I also strongly suggest that you add the HTC Audio Manager, HTC Album, HTC Home Plugin, HTC Keyboard, Touchflo and HTC Home Customizer from:

I also installed NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab from the same link. I don't know if it was included with the ROM but it is supposed to make your system faster by up to 25%.

I found extrom from another link i think. I added it. Maybe i don't need it but supposedly some programs can't run without it because the rw6828 doesn't have an extrom.

By the end of this you will get an amazing system with weather updates, an ipod like audio program, and everything else that you will ever need on your phone.

I have find out one BIG BUG on 1221_RC1 ROM, the screen is unstable after change battery.
I'm sure that is EXEC rom issue. Now I'm use Atom Life CHS rom for my 6828,
it's very good, no any bug, include camera. so I think I'll stop build 6828 ROM.

Ur effort & hard work is highly respected. Actually, remedy for this bug is simple.

After the O2 & HP boot up screen, during the Windows Mobile screen loading, just press the on/off power button & the screen will return to normal immediately.

I did this everytime & not even once it failed!

how did you reflash eboot again via orginal hp rom ?

Yep guy, I've try many way until to....
remove bat. and place it back
connect power
place action and hold then push soft reset 2-3 times
if lucky you will see the light on button again
So, go bootloader as normal way softkey+soft reset
now bootloader come on again but seem like vibarate on screen,
flash with Orininal HP to repair on broken
you will get it back completely

note to all, since author has already abandoned the project and the latest 1221 rom is still flawed in a way, better to hold your horses before you flash your ipaqs.

you may also want to look for other 'cooks', i believe there is more that 1 WM6 'chef' on the net.

Guy I suggest you to flash via RUU might be more convenient,
I just flash atom life rom from forum HP6828 WM6 by their steps,
just delete eboot.nb0 at the time you going to upload process,
now it work great with my brother's device
not problem or bug fould yet,
(after patch with extrom.cab)
all system are go smoothly:)

maybe your version is EXEC, so CPU is 521MHz,
