Devicewire are saying that they are getting theirs direct from HTC and expect launch to be mid-late Dec with actual shipping to customers being early Jan

I would not like to put off anyone waiting eagerly for the HTC Cruise. In fact I belong to the same club.

My only worry is that the HTC Cruise comes with the same Qualcomm processor same as the TyTn II. Now we already have a thread "Petition Open for HTC...." which primarily describes problems due to incompatible / non-existent drivers. Apparently HTC has yet not resolved this issue but are still releasing a next device based on the same processor and therefore presumably the same issues.

My question is that under the circumstances do you think it would be wise to buy now or wait for HTC to resolve the issues.

Well, you would expect them to make a better driver eventually. But who knows :/
It's hard to tell. Maybe it's better to wait and see how the first impressions are with the device. I'm not a very patient person when it comes to this, so I already pre-ordered mine lol

This is my only concern with the device. Other than this issue (if it even has this issue) the cruise is perfect for me.

Same here. This would be my first WM device and I have been reading the forums to be prepared for what is installed. ;)

I hope raskell is able to shed some light regarding video playback etc.

Ok, that settles it. I have been waiting far too long for my first PPC: first e-ten x800 which apparently turned out to be much of a disappointment, now polaris that just would not make it under my xmas tree. I am getting Kaiser instead. It is bulkier, but at least it is available. And my provider sells it with nice perks such as car charger/holder and maps.
I hope you guys don't have to wait much longer for your toy and I wish you enjoy it.

In Germany, known as O2-Xda Orbit 2 is officially available (here (http://www.o2online.de/handys/Marken/o2/o2-Xda-orbit-2.html)) since beginning of this month (1-12-2007). Yet the dealer is unable to provide me this at the moment, and has promised me for the next week.

Technically speaking, it comes at less than half the price of a similar model from Nokia (http://www.o2online.de/handys/Marken/Nokia/Nokia-N95-8GB.html) (Orbit 2 lacks the quad-band capability, but Nokia lacks memory expansion (no card slots) a big minus for me).

Orbit 2 also comes with complete maps for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plus ALL main European roads. So I wait anxiously for this all-in-one device! Being a previous used of HTC touch (O2-nova), it looks quite promising.

Wagarz, is it possible to buy from UK and what would the price be? I like the 02 Orbit look comapred to the shiny front of the Cruise.

AArrgghhh! I wish HTC was a little more accurate with their RTS forecasting. I hope they pull the date in. I would really like to have a good Christmas. If not, maybe we can have a nice Chinese New Year.

I agree. Ever since HTC came on the scene, 5+ years ago, I have been buying their phones and they are always 60+ days delayed. Expansys, the largest reseller of them, is the major data point for pre-orders. Think of it as a 'soft launch'. Another thing to look at is HTC is very committed to product quality and execution. They take very seriously software and hardware excursions. This is a plus and a minus.

Good stuff and I can't wait -

I spoke to www.onthegosolutions.com Friday and they said they are still slated for Dec 15th ship date. They apparently have a different distributor that always gets things faster then the portix group(expansys).

I just got off the phone with OntheGoSolutions.com and they have pushed the availability date back a couple weeks also. When asked for the exact new RTS date I received a 'unknown at this time'. This is as of 3:52pm Central 12/10/2007. You can sign up for email updates so that they will email you when available.

Looks like we are stuck till mid January - :(

I know it sucks but if you give in and buy another device now you will be kicking yourself when the TC comes out. I know how you feel I sold my P3600 two weeks ago and am reduced to a "normal phone" for the first time in six years. I feel lost.

Just spoke to www.onthegosolutions.com and they are sticking to receiving stock before expansys. They claim that HTC notified them that by the end of the monththey will have them. They told me that are expecting to have tracking info on there shipments before Christmas. Only thing they are more expensive then expansys.

Actually the N95 is a good stand-in :eek: My Athena and Kaiser are gone and also waiting for the TC so I got the N95 8gb in the mean time. I must say it will "partner" the TC for some time :cool:

Devicewire.co.uk have now said that they will receive the Touch Cruise on 11th Jan 2008. It appear HTC is struggling to make a firm release date. Devicewire could also be more communicative. Oh well another month to wait.

In France, we have the same problem. Some shop don't know this model, other have referenced it and they are waiting for it.

The good news come from a little shop in Paris where i used to order my phone since 5 years.
they are waiting for the cruise like other but the price with a new subscription will be only 99 €. Price without subscription is 549 €

One thing is sure, don't dream to have TC before january.

Why HTC announce TC for the 29 of november and need 1 month more to distribute it.
Not nice, HTC or give us good reasons to wait.

my source is a german board where a trusted o2 employer is keeping the people informed of the status and today the first people confirmed that they got the device or that it is shipping to them and he said that a bigger batch will also arrive this week.

As far as I read germany gets it first ... but Im not sure if other countries already got it ... it doesnt seem so
