Cool...I'm in a similar GF situation...I assume this will work with just about any VOIP provider as long as I know their link? I am using VoipStunt.com...

I didn't know about VoipStunt. But it seems to be another VOipBuster clone :) So it works.

Use this url: https://myaccount.voipstunt.com/clx/sendsms.php

Awesome...Thanks...Ya, VOIPStunt has some better rates for SMS to the places I need to send them...Been using them for about 2 months now, and its a great service. Much better than Skype.

It's funny to see the differences in prices between VoipBuster, VoipRaider and VoipStunt.
The application is exactly the same (except the looks) as well as the site... but the prices are different.

I'm see one bug in this software, when I'm trying to send sms for example to free destination 001112223344, but voipsms deleting zeros and sending messages to 1112223344, then I receive - insufficient funds on my account or didn't send any messages if account funded. Another one with the same zeros, when I'm trying to send sms to 111002223344 (111000223344 any numbers with double and more zeros) it sends to 1112223344 so number is wrong.
Can it be fixed?

Thank you.

Rhapsody

Ah I see.

Bug 1: Only leading zero's should be removed. This is because of the format that VoipBuster expects. The format should be: [countrycode without the 00 or + sign][areacode without leading zero][number]
So for holland it should be +31 0123 456789
This number must be formatted to: 31_123_456789 (without the underscores)

Bug 2: 00110022003344 is changed into 11223344. This is wrong. It must be 110022003344.

I'll try to fix these bugs tonight. Thank you very much for testing and posting!

The bug with the incorrect formatting of the phonenumber is solved in the new version (1.1)

The other issue about the insufficient funds is not a bug. It's the result which the application receives after sending the message.

Great software.

However, I am still facing the same problem which I face with other VoIP SMS Software and that is my phone number is not sent so the user does not know what I am the one sending the text message (unless I tell them).

Am using VoipStunt which the URL you provided.

Rhapsody

That is something which can only be set with the Windows Application. There you can verify your number and set your 'caller id'.
As far as I know.

If not, please let me know.

I have verified my numbers and I can even select those numbers when I use the Windows application.

I am currently located in the US so the country code is +1. I entered 11234567890 (where 1234567890) is my number and +11234567890 but in both instances, the ID that the recipient received was some other number (which is not even in my address book).

When I used other VoIP SMS software, the recipient would see my username when I sent an SMS using such software but now with your software, it sends something else altogether.

Do let me know if you need more information on my part.

I'll keep you informed. For now I don't need any additional information though I don't have any idea how to do this. :)

Hi Rapsody! Thank's for your great application. I would like to ask you something. I have tried to use voipsms to send messages via voipraider. Messages sent to Greece are free via voipraider. I can send messages to Greece normally using the pc application and the html link. When I try to send a message from voipsms I get the message that says that I don't have enough credit to send a message. I don't need to have credits because messages to Greece are free and I can send a message from the pc application. Why is this happening? Thank's again ;)

The application sends a message using the HTML link of Voipbuster/VoipRaider. The result of that call is an XML file. The content of the XML contains that exact error message. So basically the error that you have insufficient funds are coming directly from the server.

I have the feeling (and I also saw other people talking about it at the forum of VoipBuster) that the nr of free messages is limited.

That's weird because after many unsuccessful attempts with voipsms I can send sms normally via the pc application. So the problem is not the limit (even if there is a limit). I will buy credits and test it again. Thank's anyway :)

Unfortunately there is not a lot of information available on the internet.

On this forum there's another tool which enables you to send messages using VoipBuster/Raider. Could you try if that application has the same 'issues'? It has more features and support for more Voip Applications.

You mean ipsms by skandler? I have already tried this application. In this application I get the error code "invalid username" when I try to send sms via voipraider. I am sure that the username is correct so I can't send messages from there either. In general with voipraider weird things happen with all the applications that I have tried.

Rhapsody

That's weird because it's just a VoipBuster 'clone' :-)

I've dropped a question at Skandler's thread. Hopefully he can tell me a little bit more.

Hi folks,

Are there any plan to make VoipSMS compatible with Sipgate. I've got an account with them and I'd rather avoid registering with multiple providers.
Their API is already out but I cannot make it work.

Nice program, just plain simple and almost completely working. One thing tho: the from field isn't sending correct. If I send a message with your program and set my own number (which i verified with voipcheap) as 'from' it shows my username as the sender of the message. So I see 'Muthas' as sender :P It's funny, but I don't want that, I want my number. Sending with the website or other VoipSMS programs does work with the right number.

Well, could you make an option to let me enter the first part of the url myself?
So you just add the '&text={text}' part to it. I'll type the http://bla.com?username=username&password=password&from=0031132456789 myself. Fixes the problem.

You let us enter the from numberr in a field and then you addd that and the &from= part to the url. something us going wrong there because that part doesbt arive at my voip provider. Therefor id like an option to enter the WHOLE url manually and the only thing the program adds to tgat url will be reciever and text (so {url-i-manually-set-including-username-pass-from}{the-automatic-part-with-&to=bla&text=hoho)

I don't understand you completely but the settings specified on the options form are included in the url which is send to the server.

You can enter the whole url on the options form. As well as the username, password and the from number.

I'll have a look at it tonight.

?username=&password=&from=&text=bericht&to=06blalbla

www.urlvoipprovider.com/send.php?username=ik&password=hij&from=00316234?username=&password=&from=&text=bericht&to=06blalbla

I'm sorry this is in Dutch but he didn't fully understand me. I'm telling the same in this post as I did in my 2 posts I made earlier in this topic.

Keep you updated. That's strange. The only thing I had to change on the options screen was a name of a value. In the settings.xml there was an element called 'sender'. This is changed to 'from'. So maybe your XML is not valid. That should not produce an error because I tested this as well. But you can try to add the element 'from' yourself. (you can remove the sender element>

.NETCF 2.0 is not included with the setup of VoipSMS.

You've to run the MSI (which you can download on the page you linked to in your post) on your desktop. The size needed on your PDA will be much much less. :-)
The only thing I can think of is that the .NETCF is not installed on your PDA (correctly)

You need the Voipbuster software which you can download on www.voipbuster.com (http://www.voipbuster.com).

With that client application you can verify your caller id.
To do this go to:
Menu Tools -> Options -> Caller ID -> Click the 'Verify' button and follow the steps to complete the verification.

So it is not possible to do this with VoipSMS :)

.NETCF is backwards compatible with .NETCF 2.0

Numberformat:
countrycode: +31 or 0031
contactnumber without leading zero.

What error do you receive?

As far as I know; you can leave out the call ID.

Im completely new at this but wanted to give voip a try since SMS destinations seems to be free in my country with voipbuster.

But when using voipsms to send an sms I get an error: invalid number

This is what I did, and dunno if I forgot something critical to do:

I downloaded voipbuster and created an account by providing a userid and pass.
I went to tools -> options -> caller id and there I provided my mobile number (as +32479******) and verified it.
This is all I did for voipbuster.

Then I installed voipsms and filled in the userid and password and in the from textbox I filled in my number also (as +32479******)
Then I'm tried to send an sms to a friend for testing, but it results in the error "invalid number"

Any help on what I'm doing wrong ?

it should be: https://myaccount.voipbuster.com/clx/sendsms.php

That's all what I can think of now... the error you get is the error VoipBuster returns...

What you can try:
Modify the url to your needs and enter it into your browser.

https://myaccount.voipbuster.com/clx/sendsms.php?username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&FROM=+32479******&TO=**********&TEXT=TEXT (https://myaccount.voipbuster.com/clx/sendsms.php?username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&FROM=+32479******&TO=**********&TEXT=TEXT)

OK problem is fixed

All my friends and family numbers were formatted in my addressbook as 0479****** instead of +32479******

I changed one of them to +32 and now it works.
Sorry for the trouble and its a great tool Rhapsody, will be used a lot :)

PS: is it possible for the new release (when there will be one ofcoz) to make the "sending message... done" box dissappear when the sms was sent ?

Again, for the rest its kicking ass :D

I had some time left and it was easy to implement so here it is:

When the message is send succesfully, the progress window will close after 1 second. If there was an error, it will not close automatically.

There are still some bugs

I can send free SMS to people living in Belgium.
The first SMS I send was no problem.
But now the second and third SMS I send using voipbuster account, it said
"Sending failed..."
"error: error"

But the SMS was received, also when I login to the voipbuster website I can check the log and see that it was actually send.

No idea why it gives the error: error thing, since its working

For me it seems to be an error of the VoipBuster 'webpage'. What VoipSMS does is simply forwarding the data entered to the VoipBuster 'webpage'. This webpage returns an XML file with the result:

<SmsResponse>
<version>1</version>

<result>1</result>

<resultstring>success</resultstring>

<description />

<endcause />

</SmsResponse>

So the text after 'Error:' is extracted from the <description> tag...

I don't have a clue how to fix this... :(

texarcana
20th January 2008, 07:24 PM
u can ask voipbuster what resultstrings and descriptions they use and on that base its maybe possible to do the following:

if description is "success" or "error" then
label (or whatever you use) = ".... success"

if description is "invalid number" then
label (or whatever you use) = ".... invalid number"

that could be a dirty fix

Rhapsody
21st January 2008, 09:23 AM
Hmm no that's not really fixing the problem.

For now I added the URL (with all the details) to the progresspanel when the result does not equals 'success'.
If you want I can put it online tonight.

In Italy we have some free sms from our operators,, and you can use them through internet...

I can send free sms to all italian operator customers with that service through home internet connection.

If I'm not at home I use a program that connect itself automatically to these services... So I spend only 1 eurocent for each sms (if I'm not at home)...

Some of them work also for international customers, so they are very usefull (and, more important, FREE!!:D).....

I dropped a question in the IPSMS thread for Skandler. I think he's doing it the 'dirty' way. (if errorcode = 'error' then success)

The creditcheck would be a nice functionality, but this is impossible for now because the VoipBuster service doesn't support this. (As far as I know)

EDIT:
I've uploaded version 1.4
VoipSMS now supports multiple messages at a time and the VoipBuster error issue is solved as well. (the dirty way unfortunately, but there's no other way )

First i would like to thank you for this initiative, these are the kind of programs we are all looking for! (yep i also got a gf living abroad ;)

I got a little problem though, it seems like i'm not able to send messages. I got the settings configured the right way and all i get is a error. The exact error is the following "Error:failure". This doesn't really tell me much about the cause.. You probably can't help me either because of the amount of info given by the errormessage. Maybe it's a nice feature (addition), to add a errorlog in the root folder..

Thanks!

Hi Rhapsody, First of all I´d like to say a HUGE thank you for this great application... I only discovered it this weekend as previously I had been using the HTML method of sended VOIP SMS in Internet Explorer but this is a much easier method. You made my weekend!! I´ve used it with voipbuster, voipcheap and voipwise and they all work great.
The only problem I have with SMS via VOIP is that the recpient recieves my ID with the message but actually the number is missing the + before the country code so when they try to reply it´s often not possible. I know this is not a problem with your program but the VOIP... do you know of a solution to this???
Thanks again for your great program!!!!;)

This is a great program.

Is there a reason why non of these chat programs (other than palm) integrate with the phone as a default? In other words how come developers are not making the program so that when I hit messages that sms-chat starts?

1. It's not that easy to implement since .NETCF doesn't provide all the functionality. For example reading SMS messages is only possible by using MAPI calls.
2. I haven't seen any program that I would like to have as a default instead of the WM6 default software. (okay; except for the Touch Comm Manager)

I installed .NET CF 3.5 on my Vox and then this program. It doesn't work.
I tryed also installing your PocketScreen but I get the same error as the VoipSMS. When I try to start one of this two apps, the only option I got is to quit.
What should I do to detect and remove this problem?

Don't you get any error?

Can you check the .NETCF logfile (which can be found on the root of your phone (afaik))

This is what I got after trying to start VoipSMS, when i click Details.

JeromeWindows Mobile 6 Standard is missing some functions compared to Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

I've been looking for it in the past and it costs some time to figure out what I have to change. Since I don't have a smartphone I decided not to look further for it. At the moment I'm very very busy but I'll try to take a look at it. But I can't promise you anything.

Hello.

I hope its ok to ask a offtopic question for you, Rhapsody,

I have coded alittle in VB6, and want to make my own sms application for Voip buster etc so that i can make one for my needs.

I have Visual Studio 2005, can i make applications for my WM6.0 device ?
Would you recommend C# or VB ?

Thanks.

Thanks. It depends on what you want. C# is the main .NET language according to Microsoft. It has the largest userbase.
VB.NET is easier to learn, especially when you already know the syntax of VB6.

Although I've chosen for VB.NET because of my work I would suggest to go for C#.

With Visual Studio 2005 you're able to create Windows Mobile Applications. All you need is Visual Studio and the Windows Mobile Professional (PDA) or Standard (Smartphone) SDK which can be downloaded from Microsoft.com.

After some busy weeks I finally had some time to work on VoipSMS again.

- Sending multiple messages after each other bug fixed
- Sent messages can now be saved into XML format.
- Viewer for sent messages.

Ok, hopefully not a lot people upgraded yet because here's 1.6.

Changes
- Improved performance
- Sent items can be saved in XML or Text format. (Text format performs better, but XML is easier to export since it's a standard)

first of all, kudos for making this nice little application Rhapsody. i prefer it over IPSMS cos its much lighter, but still i have some requests, so that it will be even greater... :)

- could you include an option to add more/different accounts for diffferent voipsites? if we can switch between a few preferred ones, that would be very nice, since they are unpredictable in changing their prices and free destinations. me myself i have 3 accounts in three different sites...

-and one thing that i particularly would like to see in your application too, is a favorite contacts section...

-oh and maybe make it possible to spell a complete name in the contacts search bar, for quick and easy selection of the desired contact without (stylus)scrolling...

how do u feel abt these?

keep up the good work mate! :)

Thank you for your great efforts !!!! Looking forward for smartphone version.

Nevertheless, I can't change the Link option. I am using budgetsip and I cannot change the voipbuster to budgetsip. Somehow when I press keyboard "d" button, it was written "5" eventhough the phone is on alphabet mode.

I'm sorry, but I can't reproduce the 'bug'. I don't have a smartphone but in my emulator everything works well. :(

Looks like Dopod c730 issues as when I google, there are similar problem for some people using MicrosoftLifeWire 2. For some reason, several keyboard buttons, only result number, no alphabet, regardless either on number or alphabet mode.

Using cut & paste method manage to "type" the right option, except for password field, I cannot do cut&paste. So end up change to new password that not using the affected buttons/characters.

Another question: I managed to send sms successfully, however the "CallerID" is my username, regardless that I already set the field "From" in my registered phone on Budgetsip Voip to my mobile phone number.

a) The sms on the receiver side got that CallerID is my username (not phonenumber)
b) When it try to reply the sms, I did not receive it.

Any suggestion ?

This may be OT, but I want to know how you make voipstunt calls too because I am also using the expensive providers in the Nederlands with 70% of my calls being international so I use it on my land line (voip phone) but have not tried it on PPC yet. Can you provide a giude?

I use voipstunt on my PPC..I use a application called SJ Phone..google for it and it works perfectly over Wifi..i have a slow edge connection in my country so I am not using it over the edge network. U can use the settings on the voipstunt page to configure the SJ phone client...and SJ phone is free. :)

Thanks Rhapsody for this program...its really nice.
I dont need to SMS much but I thought I could share this link with others. I use Voipstunt mainly for calling...but http://www.poivy.com/en/rates.html
is offering free sms to any country and it uses the sms technology as voipstunt.

So create an account and use the following for the server
https://myaccount.poivy.com/clx/sendsms.php

so if anyone is sending a lot of SMS abroad then this is a boon to them...it says free unlimited sms for 90 days for 10 Euro... enjoy. :)

SMSBug doesn't seem to be a VoipBuster clone. So you cannot use VoipSMS to send messages.
But I think IPSMS supports SMSBug.

Connect your phone to your pc, run the .NETCF 2.0 installer and you're done.

You have to type the phonenumber which you verified using the VoipBuster Desktop client (Windows application, not Windows Mobile)

i wish i could program like that. unfortunately for a 'techie' i have no programming background at all. would still like to learn some time tho..

i have another little idea (yes im full of them...) how about a reply function? and it would be ideal if it could be done without having a double inbox, thats is, duplicate messages in pocket outlook messaging and in VoipSMS. i dont know if some sort of linking would be a possibility or just a single route for incoming sms's, with a choice menu of in which (outlook or VoipSMS) inbox they would be stored.. linking would be more practical i think..

interested..?

The other option, catching incoming messages, is something I don't prefer. It is possible to catch the incoming messages, but then they don't appear in the PocketOutlook inbox anymore. So I don't know about this. There's not a lot of information available about this subject. My opinion about this is that I don't like to have other programs as 'default'. But some interaction with the PocketOutlook inbox would be a nice addition.

would that be so bad..? ;) i mean, using my pocketoutlook sms costs me money, n using voipsms practically doesnt..

Not really :P I'm happy with it and I'm happy that other people are also happy with it.

well ive looked at a few of them and ive tried IPSMS before i found yours... as far as i can tell IPSMS seems to be the leading "competitor" and its quite complete BUT it somehow feels bulky, and not flexible enough. and it seems to be developed in the first place not really for betamax accounts alltho those were added later.
yours is lighter, and getting more practical especially now that youve added the multiple accounts option and the favourites option.. overall i like how neat and lean it is..its quick and easy to use.. and, like i said, still getting better...im thinking of completely switching to VoipSMS for messaging, n leaving the standard PO way for emergencies and empty voip sms credit moments only.. (thats why the reply function would be so handy although i do understand your reservations considering inbox issues)

all in all youve got a really nice application going here! :)

its an on-screen 'xT9' keyPAD, a bit similar to the previous HTC T9 keypad in WM5 and earlier versions.. in WM6 HTC modified it a bit.. do you know this one? apparently it doesnt automatically have the same effect as the regular onscreen qwerty keyboard.. however i know that in other applications it does work similarly, but i guess it needs a little extra coding in such applications..

It would be strange if the application would need extra coding for a 3rd party keyboard... For me it sounds like an issue with the keyboard itself...

In the next version, the recipients field will have auto-complete, so you can type directly over there.

maybe its becos of the autofill function of the xT9 keypad? basically it doesnt really 'enter' the typed word untill its selected from the matches found in the keypad dictionary.. and since it doesnt enter anything in the normal way, maybe the recipients box doesnt 'get' the input...

cool! :D hopefully it will also recognise the xT9 input then..

could you confirm if it works with any other T9 pad?

yes it is.. im mostly using the xT9 pad for typing messages, for obvious reasons i think:), and switching between the xT9 pad and the onscreen keyboard first before selecting a contact and writing the message is pretty inconvenient..

i hope this new function will automatically solve the problem tho..

still loving this app

my stupid typo or yours? ;)

ive deleted the favorites.xml and tried again, but every time i try to add more than one favourite, it crashes and gives me the error notification...

this is so getting close to perfection tho.. to make it really perfect, i'd still love to see an option to catch incoming messages in voipsms instead of the PO inbox (i guess its not easy, with notifications and sounds etc included tho), and and it would be even more fantastic to be able to store them on the storage card . this way i could really use voipsms as my default sms app..i know its not your preference but im willing to pay for this option actually.. we can discuss this if u like..

the option for a few predefined text lines would be a nice bonus, but its not vital.. ;)

no problemo at all.. we all appreciate the hard work and creativity. youre really helping people out!

btw, the favourites works like a charm now.. :D but the keypad selection not really yet.. it selects a contact based only on the first letter, not on a word/name string.. (for example it only recognises J if tapped on the JKL button(5) no matter how many times you tap it, and it straight away selects a random contact starting with J). maybe this is xT9 Pad specific tho..

and to clear or overwrite a selected number/contact in the To: box is not really finger friendly, it would be nice to have a little button for it..

i just had another idea (am i driving you crazy yet? ;) ) how about a tap/hold menu link from PO contacts? i mean a link to send a voipsms straight from a selected contact in PO contacts, from a menu when u tap and hold the specific contact in the PO contact list. so a menu entry such as "send VoipSMS" from the pop up menu. hope im making sense here..

again, thanx a million for your work!

maybe another clue to this puzzle: the HTC Touch Cruise jog dial, or whatever that thing is called that lets u scroll through lists and pages, automatically selects the first contact from the scroll down list while scrolling.. it almost seems too eager to select a contact..a bit like when i use the xT9 Pad, it eagerly selects a contact based on the very first letter it gets fed, without waiting for more letters/contacts before entering it in the To: box..
in the scroll down contactlist it does this with the regular on-screen keyboard too..

Hey,

I was able to reproduce the bug. I've uploaded a new version (2.1.2) with the fix.
You have to enter a default countrycode (+31 for example). After that you can send messages without having to enter the number in international format.

I think I have to make the autocomplete functionality optional. I can't auto-complete when using a keypad bevause I don't know when the user is ready with typing. Maybe a delay or something...

What do you think?

What do you think?

cant a time delay be set? if i understood correctly the input from the keypad cannot be used as a trigger?

a time delay as in for example 1 full/half second (i dont know what is an ideal time delay here) after the last button press..if no buton is pressed for that time, the app will consider the typed name to be complete, and make a 'hit'list.. would that help?

when using it my first impression is that it just reacts too fast to the input..

also, were you able to reproduce the scrolling problem in the drop down list? it will right away select the very first name it comes across.. that too seems like its too 'eager' to select the very first input it gets..whether it be one letter or the first name on a scroll list.. in the scroll list btw, it might be good not to let the app select anything by itself, but to wait for an action button press..

back to you :)

Rhapsody
18th March 2008, 10:28 PM
No i'm unable to reproduce the drop down error. The keypad is hiding when the dropdownlists gets focus. If I open the keypad again; it's a normal Touch Keyboard... After that, when I go back to the recipients textbox it turns back to a keypad again...

Sushikidd
18th March 2008, 10:45 PM
thats ok, since the functions can be split:

the text box could be used to select a contact by typing the name, and then it creates a list of matches as the input becomes more complete;

and the scroll down list could be used for finger scrolling. then a contact would be selected by a screen tap. the way it is now is not really bad either, it selects after releasing your finger.. the only problem with that is that its very hard to scroll to the contact u want.. i scrolls very fast and if you miss it and release too late, it already selected the wrong contact.. another little difficulty appears then: the wrongly selected contact is not easy to delete from the selection box..

if you would agree, and if its possible, i would like to plea for touchflo scrolling through the dropdown list..

Rhapsody
18th March 2008, 10:48 PM
I don't want to make it too hard for users. So I think I'll do this:

- Auto complete delay on the textbox.
- When textbox gets focus -> select all
- When selecting a contact on the dropdownlist, it will not be added to the recipients textbox untill the add button is pressed.

I think those are the best features for now. Agree?

well if you (single?)tap on it it would try to select the whole text box content right? so what if there is no text in it yet? or if you want to add another recipient? if then u tap on it it will replace whatever is in there already if im correct..

so i figured the sip will automatically add any input in that recipients textbox, instead of anywhere else... im just thinking how to select the normal recipients text box, since there are 2 more fields that can be selected as well (contacts drop down box and message text)

or do you mean double tap the recipients text box for selecting all the content? normally it would be single tap for selecting the text field and double tapping for selecting all content of that particular textfield, right?

6am? wow, better get some sleep, man ;)

thanks and talk to u later:)

Rhapsody
19th March 2008, 08:28 AM
Well if the textbox gets focus (don't know a different description for it) I can select all text. When the user adds a contact by selecting it from the dropdownlist and presses the 'add'-button, the recipient will be added at the end, because the textbox doesn't have the focus anymore.

Like this it should be easy to clear the recipients textbox.

So if you tap on the recipients textbox it will select all the text in it. By pressing the -> arrow key you can deselect everything and move the caret to the end (natural behaviour). After that you can type in the textbox.

Ok, it has been quiet for a while now. Unfortunately I'm busy with a lot of other things now, but I'm testing some possibilities for saving the incoming and outgoing messages.

It's possible to save it in txt or XML format but these aren't very nice when it comes to 100s of messages.
So I've been looking at alternatives and the performance, but without luck yet... :)

Sushikidd
27th March 2008, 01:05 PM
Hi Rhapsody,

what would be the problem with txt or xml?

Rhapsody
27th March 2008, 01:19 PM
When there are a lot of messages these files get pretty big, especially XML (which has a lot of overhead)

So the performance will be bad after using the program for a while.
But since there aren't a lot of good alternatives (I don't want to add SQL Server as a requirement (and besides that: SQL Server is also heavy))
I think I have to use XML/TXT then :)

Sushikidd
27th March 2008, 01:40 PM
no harm in testing that first anyway right? ;) (im just so impatient hehe)

can the file be stored on the sd card then? maybe a time delay for stored messages , like it keeps only messages from the last 7 days in a quickly accessable 'light' file, and archives older messages in a bigger, slower file...?

so you would only be confronted with slow performance if you dig into the archive, but not during standard use...

is this any good?

I've been busy on that as well actually :-) But I have to write it in C++ and that's not my speciality :P

First things first.

Not a new feature but a very nice new eh thing:

VoipSMS is also listed on the official VoipBuster website: http://www.voipbuster.com/en/mobile.html#voipsms

Thanks to the guys of VoipBuster!

Change:
- Auto complete delay option added.

hi Rhapsody,

been testing version 2.1.3 a bit and this is what i found:

the drop down contact list is already much more handy...:) but it wud be even better if pressing the action button on the D-pad would select a contact, like now the Add button does.. and if the D-pad could be used to jump from one box to another (just a standard feature as in most applications)

2 things are not working too well yet; entering a contact in the To: box still wont work. the first letter of the xT9 pad (like for example J in the button JKL) is always selected right away, no matter how fast it is tapped again, and coupled with the first matching contact. it will not select the any of the other letters on the button without entering the first one in the To: box first. changing the delay timer doesnt have any effect on this.. so after the first letter is pressed it gets picked up right away by the box. if then you go on pressing the following letters will be entered in a normal T9 way, however there is no contact matching being done then.

the To: box does select the whole entry automatically for deletion, but it does so when not needed (straight away when a contact match is displayed) and it doesnt do so when needed (after tapping the box/its contents). tapping the box shows a momentary glimpse of such a 'whole entry selection' but thats all, there is no lasting selection and thus the box still cant be cleared easily..

it might be more convenient to have the SIP show on opening the application. now it always starts out hidden. i dont know if thats on purpose or not, but so far to me it seems more convenient (less taps) to have it showing on application opening/startup..

another tiny little feature request: to be able to change the order of the favourites without having to clear them all and re-entering them in a different order..

overall still getting better and better though :D

Currently I'm testing the 'incoming sms interception'.
I've found some small issues so I'll have to report back to the development department (me)
Hopefully I can release it soon.

- SIP is opened on startup,
- Favorites can be ordered
- Action button can be used to add the selected contact to the recipients.

I stop with the xT9 pad. It seems like it's a weird pad :-) Sorry.

So have some more patience :P

hi Rhapsody, still great progress, thanks! :) n greetings to the development department ;)

the xT9 probably IS a weird pad.. :) but its in many ways an improvement to the previous T9 pad, and extremely handy to use in most applications, if not all.. i wish i could tell you whats causing the problem. it would be awesome if it was fully compatible with VoipSMS.. could it be related to the built in word prediction perhaps?

could it be a compromise solution to enable scrolling from the To: box too?

so now it selects the first name matching the first letter on the T9 pad, for example i press the ABC button, and it right away selects Amy. but i would want to select Axel. as it is now, i cant change it to Axel, and i cant enter Axel either, so in that box its impossible to select Axel or anyone else but Amy (which happens to be the first name in my list starting with an A) but if i could use the jog dial wheel to scroll on from Amy, i could still reach Axel that way relatively easy.

this would be a valuable feature, because the dropdown box, without letter priming, would take very long to scroll to certain miscelaneous contacts.. imagine looking for Yolanda, i'd have to scroll all the way down from letter A to letter Y, and with a few hundred contacts thats gonna take a while..

what do you think?

Ok, since I'll not have a lot time these days I put a alpha-beta-test-version online.

Ordering favorites is not implemented yet.
Intercepting incoming sms works, but it will only save a copy of the incoming sms. THe sms itself is also saved in the default inbox.

I'll see if I can implement that in the next version.

A new version is released. Not a lot changes since the last 'beta' version. Incoming messages are now shown on a different form to improve performance.

looking very very good!! :)

my ' test results' so far:

if i set the inbox to only copies, it still does the same as intercept...no original is shown in the PO inbox, and no incoming alert is shown or sounded..
*update: it does now save the original in the PO inbox, i didnt notice any specific reason for why it changed..

is there a way to get a sound and/or visible notification instead of the incoming sms popping up?
and could you add a reply button on the incoming message besides the menu reply option? now it has to be closed first and then selected, and then the reply function has to be selected from the menu..
oh ya, how do you feel about a read/unread indication? the panel view kinda makes that inpossible on the one hand, but on the other hand theres no more distinction between read or unread messages.. i do like the panel view tho. maybe a replied/not yet replied distinction then? just brainstorming a bit here..

getting into the very minor improvements, i can only think of a quicker route to the inbox..
other than those its working perfectly! (not counting the To: box / xT9 pad issue ;) )

thanks for the great work again! :D :D

Sound will come in a future version. I want to implement that but first I want to make the step to .NETCF 3.5. (.NETCF 3.5 supports playing systemsounds.)

I'm going to think about read/unread indication.

These are the things I also had in mind. Since I'm moving to a new place I don't have so much time now, but it will come!

Excellent program, it would be even better if its possible to use this program with sipgate. I have signed up to voipbuster because of this program but have to warn other users if they intend to do so as well.

I have cretaed my account and tried to buy credit by using the phone option first, which didnt work. Instead, I tried to buy credits by using the text message option. As a result, I lost my 5 pounds and never got any credit added to my voipbuster account. I sentg emails to betamax but never got a reply. After some research, I found that a lot of users have similar problems:

Thanks! will try to use their email rather than their feeback form.

Sipgate also has a php form to send sms and it actually looks very similar to VoipBuster. The problem is that I dont think it is possible to put username and password into the url to automatically logon. When I start the web browser I always get the login screen first before I get to the php form. Would be fab if you get VoipSMS to work with sipgate!

Hi rhapsody, hoop dat alles goed gaat met de verhuizing :)

ive found a few things while using voipsms intensively, that might deserve some more attention:

upon receipt of a new sms, the new sms form is opened. there is no reply buttn yet so the only option is to close it. if there are more new messages, they all must be viewed and closed like this first. then, in the inbox folder, there is no distinction between new/unopened messages and old/opened/replied messages..

ive ran into a real bug too.. at some point voipsms just completely stopped copying new messages from the PO inbox to its own inbox. havent got it back to work again as of yet. i have no idea what triggered it..

summing up some things currently still on my personal wish list:

- opening in inbox view with visible difference between new/unopened messages and old/already replied messages. it would be nice to be able to manually open /close them. basically this is the same way it works in the default inbox, and it does work very fine that way.

- a reply button on the message form/on the split screen message view. personally i prefer to have it all on access from the split screen view. i really love that view, its a great idea :)
- a solution to the infamous xT9 issue ;) yes yes im nagging again but there must be a way to make it work, i mean it can work in PO too right? wish i could give you the clues to make this work..

voipsms still RULES! :D

Hi Rhapsody,

first of all thanks for giving us the option to use your VoipSMS!!!

I have upgraded to v.2.2.0 and I have noticed (in Menu/Options/Application settings/Incoming SMS) that either options ("Intercept" or "Save a copy") let the incoming SMS's just flow inside VoipSMS (totally bypassing the default SMS viewer... which is not a problem) and that text message open automatically.

In order to improve future versions of your great application I hope you do not mind to receive a couple of suggestions.

It would be great if:

1) Incoming SMS could be coupled to a notification sound (wav/mp3) so if you keep your PPC in its case or in a bag you can actually hear that you have received a new SMS;

2) Incoming SMS could remain unopened (an "Open automatically all incoming SMS" YES/NO option would be super) so that if you leave your PPC on the desk the privacy of your incoming SMS's is safeguarded;

3) A typed but not sent SMS could remain in the outbox even when you close VoipSMS until you delete it or send it. Sometimes you type an SMS and for some reasons you do not manage to send it right away and if you close and reopen VoipSMS the text is gone :(

If I am doing something wrong or I have overlooked some settings which would enable the options indicated above, please feel free to let me know so that I can configure VoipSMS accordingly.

Thanks again and look forward to your next release... Hopefully with some of the changes mentioned above :)

Thanks for the suggestions.

'Currently' I'm working on:
- Sound on receive message
- read/unread support
- reply/forward functionality on view message screen and inbox/sentitems screen.

I think I have to make some big changes in the text and xml format of messages due extra features. Therefore backwards compatibility will probably be lost....

On the wishlist:
- Outbox functionality (not sure yet)
- Maybe someday I'll look at the weird xt9 keypad...

O and btw; the movement is going great. There's still a lot of work to be done but hey is a house ever finished :P

This is my first time using this program, I'm using it with a lowratevoip account, which is also from betamax....and is a major clone of voipbuster and all the others. I'm using a blackjack II....its WM6 so it's quite capable of properly installing files....but I might be missing something here.

Please try and help me....please.

Also, I am also trying to use VoipCall with the same account as I mentioned above and have no clue what the service nr is or might be for lowratevoip? Would all of the info be the same as all other betamax voip clients, like voipraider, stunt and buster? How should I enter my own number and the recipients number?

Also, will I possibly get charged more if I use VoipCall or VoipSMS on my phone, as apposed to the softphone? I just found this info on the loweratevoip site....hope it may help.

Using HTML SMSlink

You can also send text messages (SMS) without using our software or accessing the website. Use the following link and fill in the desired data:

https://myaccount.lowratevoip.com/clx/sendsms.php?username=xxxxxxxxxx &password=xxxxxxxxxx&from=xxxxxxxxxx&to=xxxxxxxxxx&text=xxxxxxxxxx

Explanation of the variables:

* username: your lowratevoip username
* password: your lowratevoip password
* from: your username or your verified phone number. Always use international format for the number starting with +, for instance +491701234567
* to: the number you wish to send the sms to. Always use international format starting with +, for instance +491701234567
* text: the message you want to send

After creating the link in a text editor you can copy it into your internet browser's address bar:

Than just hit the Enter button and you will get a notification if the text message (SMS) was sent.

Also, I found this info on their SIP page.....hoping it might help with my VoipCall problem....and making VoipCall and VoipSMS possibly more compatible with lowratevoip :D:

Software configuration

General
SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.lowratevoip.com
Proxy server : sip.lowratevoip.com
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Account name : your lowratevoip username
Password : your lowratevoip password
Display name/number : your lowratevoip username or voipnumber
Stunserver (option) : stun.lowratevoip.com

VoipCall, unfortunately, will be charged in two ways:

Well......if the problem has something to do with my internet connection on the phone how should I go about figuring out what the problem may be......or troubleshooting it. My internet connection on my blackjack 2 seems to be working great because I can check my yahoo email all the time on it......which means I have to be able to maintain a secure internet connection right? I really badly want this VoipSMS and VoipCall to work for me....it sure could make my life a hell of a alot easier :D.

I put in the service nr that low rate voip has given for my area...which is: 06466520455. Now, I don't know whether I should use the 0 or not? Also...where it says default country code....I haven't put anything because all of my contacts have the country codes added into the number already....and not all of my contacts have the same country code so yeah. Don't know what to put there, if anything.

I added my number as so: 0012223334444 and the receivers number as this 011223334445555. I also tried mine as: +12223334444 and there's at +22334445555 with all possible combinations. Also...+11223334445555 on their number. Nothing seems to go through, same error screen.

I was just wondering what formats should I use to make sure that my contact list numbers, and also my own number from which to call works perfectly and smoothly on both VoipSMS and VoipCall.

When I locate a number in VoipCall through my contact list and press call....I get a voice prompt of a female saying: "ATT.......please dial the number you are calling. (long pause) please dial the number you are calling again now. The number you have dialed is not correct. (then I get a sound) Ding Beep.(and then it hangs up).

Is this the voice prompt I'm supposed to be hearing? If not, might the problem be that the pause sign is incorrect? I used the default "p".....but I'm not sure whether this works for my samsung i617. Also....I have tried to dial this number on my own before from my phone...manually you know. I get this same voice prompt....I dial the number I wish to call and then it does the "Ding Beep" and asks for a pin or calling card number......or major credit card? What the heck is that all about? How come ATT is receiving this local call (my provider is ATT(previously Cingular).

If anyone can help me figure things out.....I'd be so thankful! :D

Default country code is optional. In your situation; you don't need to put anything over there.

:DIn my case; the service says 'please dial the number you'd like to call and end with a '#'.
When using VoipCall it says only 'please dial the...' because after a short 'pause' the requested number is being dialed by VoipCall.
Next you'll hear what the rate is for the call you want to make. After that a connection is established.

Your phone provider is ATT.
The service nr for USA is 06466520455. That should not have anything to do with ATT. The service should not ask anything about a pin, card number or credit card. It authenticates you based on the phone you're calling with.

Test with VoipBuster desktop
I just gave it a try from here (Netherlands)
- I called the service nr (+16466520455)
- A computer says 'please dial the number you'd like to call and end with a 'pound' key.
- I dialed my number in international format followed by a #.
- The computer says '€/$ 0,0' followed by 'one moment please'.
- And the phone I'm trying to call is ringing.

So that's exactly how it should work.

I'll try to call using my phone it says: 'you have your phonenumber sending switched off. Please turn number sending on to make use of this service.'
Do you send your number?

BTW, Rhapsody......give yourself some credit man! You've done absolutely marvelous work and we all here want to thank you for your efforts! :DThank you very much!

Okay....I think the problem was the 0 before the service nr. I changed it to a 1 instead and now it doesnt go to ATT. Some british lady says, "Please dial the number you'd like to call- 5 second pause. Then she says that "sorry, there has been a fault. Please try again after 30 minutes. If after 30 minutes you are still experiencing difficulties please contact us through our website".

Hmmm...seems like no matter what I do...these operators hate my guts! *shrugs*. ;)

Also, I've tried and tried again and again but still seems that my sms won't go through no matter what. I can easily send sms through the softphone but it isnt working on VoipSMS for some reason. My internet connection is working great......sometimes when I click send it shows the create new sms page again.....the one with the TO: and the message forum. But mostly I get the same huge error after trying to send it.

It's just that I'm not happy enough with it yet. Unfortunately it seems impossible to implement it the way I like it. (that the service calls both numbers, my and the 'recipient'.

hehe i do always appreciate a hint of perfectionist obsession ;)

Are there any brackets in it? it should be like this:

0031 - country code
30 - area code (without leading zero)
12345 - number
------- =
00313012345

its a mobile number in pakistan.......011923456686848 is the exact number. 011=international code 92=country code 345=city code the rest=cell number.

I try and use this same number when usin voipsms but it automatically takes out the 0 in the 011.

Why do you include 011 in the number?
I think the number is incorrect because of the 011.
0092 345 6686848 should be the number. What does the 'international code' mean?

Thanx for giving me that wonderful tip about the 0092.lol. I guess that 011 thing was the real issue. I'm going to try and send an sms with the VoipSMS now to make sure everythings good on that side too.

Thanks.....again :o.
