FIXED - 11-28-07 -- MP3 ringtones do not work in 11-27-07 base rom without Windows Media Player OEM package (Thanks Sherpa)
11-28-07 ROM shows version date as 11-27-07.
AudioManager Today plugin needs RGU file changed from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HTC to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Today\Items\MusicPlay erToday (thanks hotplainrice) -- fyi, the extra space in MusicPlayerToday isn't me, its the forum mocking me :P

Do mp3 ringtones work since you removed Windows Media Player?
_Alex_
28-11-2007, 08:47 AM
I have confirmed that the base rom does not play mp3 ringtones without wmplayer.exe. I've added this to the list of known issues in the second post.
Don't let this stop you though, as you can easily cook the Windows Media player back into the ROM.
A fixed base ROM is being uploaded now.
Cheers.

Any other way to download this ROM other than rapidshare would be appreciated. I've tried for 4 hours, all of the transfer stopped midway.

I cannot seem to be able to successfully dump your ROM with Kaiser Kitchen in order to rebuild it... I am not able to get past the XIP section (with errors in both the .3 version of the Kitchen and the new script posted on Page 4 of the Kitchen).
Is there anything weird about it?
Better yet, can you post the OEM/SYS/ROM folders of your ROM like we see in the other kitchens?

Thanks buddy. Been building my ROMs this whole morning.
Only one thing to note is that even though you added in Windows Media Player, the shortcut for it does not show up in Programs menu.
Is there any fix?
Thanks for your work again
EDIT: I found the answer: dont copy the windows media player OEM.

I don't think the error matters as others are cooking. No worries, I'll upload the folders tonight.

Loaded the Audio Manager Today plugin, however it doesn't show up in Today's list. Am I missing something?

It's supposed to be... I'm not so narcissistic that I want you to be stuck with my boring customized images on the ROM running on your phone forever :D
The files found in wallpaper are the defaults that came with the ROM.
Hope this helps.

I accidentally copied the regkey folder value from the installer instead of the app.
If you want a quick fix, please edit the .RGU file and change the line that reads [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HTC] to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Today\Items\MusicPlay erToday].
I'll upload a fixed version later.
Cheers.

Whoops, sorry. I just realized the reason why duplicate files are PITA is because you're all using the old BuildOS.exe.
I'll upload another revision to the ROM Kitchen, which includes the latest BuildOS+PackageTools.exe from Bepe/Ervius, with a small tutorial.
Duplicate files will no longer be PITA :D See this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1702543&postcount=167) for the Rom Kitchen update.

Alex:
Great ROM base, excellently organized and easy to use in the Kaiser Kitchen. I especially thank you for leaving the "removed" OEM pieces in as packages to be re-cooked into a ROM if desired.
I really can't wait until you issue the same for the ATT 1.60 ROM....any ETA in sight?
Thanks..

My goal with each release is to create a stripped down base rom and include all OEM packages to get the ROM into a shipped state.
The AT&T ROM with all the junk is PITA, and I've fought long and hard about trashing that junk completely, but have not. So those great 'AT&T Mall' icons, AAC music files and all the additional junk will be available if you want as an OEM package :-D
I'm still making sure I can't remove anything else (at 164.26MB free w/o Camera for all those 8900 Tilts, 162MB with), detailed option.xml info, and making sure that the packages work 100%, since I know that this release will be more widely used than the HTC one...
Should be done sometime between today and Wednesday :)

Hey buddy I love your work but im battling.
I first downloaded the kitchen 0.3 and ran the setup and then downloaded your clean base rom.
I ran the Begin.exe file and it came up with some string of a file that already exists in temp. I said ignore and it finished.
I then copied your OEM files into the OEM folder and ran Cook.cmd
It then starts and keeps coming up with different errors about files already existing and i cant get it to work. Am i a complete ass-wipe or what??
Please assist

Grumps:
You need to download Alex's modified kitchen script with the newer BuildOS that will help with the duplicate files issue. In addition, it isn't required to use the Kitchen's begin.cmd, because Alex was kind enough to post his pre-cooked ROM/OEM and SYS folders for insertion in the Kitchen directly (see first post).
You can get the script/BuildOS here:

The registry tweak OEM packages included will speed up your ROM. You can manually edit the RGU files to increase the values beyond what it currently is.
I have not included the fsfilter tweak in the OEM packages, however, it can be found in the Hermes Pandora Kitchen as 'Increase FileSystem filter cache 2000' and will also be included with my AT&T 1.60 release.
As for the new script & updated BuildOS, move all your packages into \kaiserkitchen\packages. Follow through with the rest of the instructions for new BuildOS, as stated from the post:
"Please be aware that the interface for BuildOS has changed. You now have to click on the 'BuildOS' tab, click on 'Load ROM' to get to the same position that the old BuildOS.exe brought you to."
Select your packages, click on go, let it build and you're done with BuildOS. Steps 9-11 remain unchanged.
Hope this helps.

OK, I use Base ROMs to have more storage, but I install everything manually. I don't cook my own ROMs (it's to difficult for me).
So what advantages does ROM cooking instead of installing everything manually via cab have? Is the ROM and the device faster and better stability? Or doesn't it matter if I cook it or just install it manually?
Thx.

When you hard reset your phone, all your OEM packages are there to stay. You'd have to re-install all your cabs to get them back...
As for cooking being difficult, I was wondering if you've had a chance to read through my tutorial? :)
