I know there are few free RSS readers and a few pay ones (SPB etc..) but has anyone found one that intrgrates into the HTC homescreen rather than a today plugin?

Like changing the media tab to an rss feeder?

Ummm, you seem to be under the impression that the HTC Home is quite changeable. Its not. So, there will be no answer to your question. No one has figured out how to change a tab to a compeltely different functionality. you are stuck with the basic 6 functions, and what they point to (Main/Clock, Contacts, Launcher, Music, Weather, Profiles).

If you are just looking for a good RSS reader, you should Google search against XDA and you'd find this:

HTC Home is made by HTC, if something like this were ever going to be done in HTC Home, HTC would have to take care of it.

On a side note, i use Newsgator Go! for Windows Mobile for reading RSS on my mobile device. It syncs with Newsgators Online service, which my desktop client Feed Demon also syncs with, meaning i can read between work, home & the bus rides and keep my read items, etc. in sync.
