Sprint Touch Cube Configuration Tool 4.1

Ok, I think this one is gonna need a sticky. I got sick of having to type in all of the shortcuts in the registry editor to change the cube, so I wrote this little spiffy app. It allows you to customize the 2 sides of the cube with shortcuts. Just make sure you know what you are doing as far as what can go where. Enjoy!

Version 1.1 - I got tired of waiting for the file browser to refresh everytime. Now you only have to wait for the first time, after that it is cached.

Version 1.2 - Added IconPress to the 6-App Side, and IconPlaying, IconPlayingPress, and IconPress to the 3-App side.

Version 2.0 - Added param for 6-App Side and 3-App Side. Added links to animation files. Added GUI for app selection for 3-App side and 6-App side.

Version 2.1 - Squashed the bugs that were coming up. Sorry I didn't test it enough before releasing.

Version 3.0 - Now supports multiple 6-App sides (See Polen's Vista Cube (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=12798))!! Added reset to defaults. Automatic shortcut selector or browse for apps. Fixed the bug where the Program Files directory wasn't showing up in the Browse tree.

Version 4.0 - Added support for the iCube (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=13301) , animation configuring for newly added sides, export settings to .reg file, and icon image preview*.

*The icon image preview must be set up correctly to work. It all depends on the naming convention used. Polen's icon packs (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=144533&postcount=126) work with the preview. Since the .brn files cannot be rendered, a .bmp file must be placed in the directory with the .brn having the same filename or following Polen's naming convention (ex. ie.bmp -> ie_top.brn, ie_top_press.brn).

I tried testing it with the stock cube, Polen's 6 sided cube, and the iCube, but may not have caught everything, so if you find a bug, let me know!

SORRY!!! I left out a file from the .cab, it's all fixed now! Enjoy!

Version 4.1 - Fixed a bug in the export settings and the Save button was getting disabled.

when i make Icons. I save them as a BMP 24 bit, then i can just BMP to BRN and it will work?

in your post though it said that you cant do Iocns yet on the sprint touch this one i believe if you just set the filepath you can!

I was at my friends house playing w/ his sprint touch, downloaded some icons from my website, and put them on w/ this prog. I just saved files to the windows folder with BRN extension and it worked? Idk if it will w/ touch settings, but this one works for that purpose....

still not sure though if you need different size icons for mediahub..???


also still my question..... do you have to stop running the mediahub.exe or w/e the file is called before installilng this puppy?

As of yesterday's build Touch Settings can display / change Sprint (BRN) Icons. Simply tap the pictures to change.

great! ive heard so many great things about the touch settings program.. That i want to continue using it.

My question is are the pics still fuzzy when you use BMP to BRN. OR are they clear like sprint pre installed logo's.

my final question, and i know its been asked, can i use the 119 by the other dimension for both the 3X2 and Media Hub Screen?? What dimensions do i need? on the pics?

also i heard about Media hub not closing? is this true or is it fixed?

those are the images that are shown when changing from side to side. You don't have to change them, but you now have the option.

i c. So like if i make icon images... when i go to animations tab, i just say for image 1, run the path to my icon. Then i will be fine?? and it will turn w/ icon of choice... But there are only 6 icons???

Yeah, I didn't write the 6-sided cube. I worked with Polen to make my app scale to the number of sides you have installed.

I played with your program yesterday (okay, let me be honest...I spent 20 hours in the past 24 hours making new cube graphics and drinking coffee until it was bleeding out my ears) and it's wonderful. In combination with the 6 sided cube it's a really great ap.

This may be from a total lack of sleep and the really nice caffiene buzz I've got going, but I'm a bit confused regarding the rotation anims and how to set them via the anim tab.

Is there a way to specify different transition graphics sets between sides 1&2, 2&3, and 3&4? It seems like the default is set to use C0-C5 for all rotations of the Launcher. Am I missing something? I was that the VistaCube program installed D0-D5 so manually created my own and added them to the Windows directory. My D series seems to be applied to those transitions eventhough the animations page shows C0-C5.

Is there a way to get to a drop down menu specifically for the extra sides or is this something that must be done manually? And in either case...how would I set it up to have separate anims for each of the different sides?

The main reason I ask is because I'm planning to use rather generic icons on my launcher pages so that I can swap out programs whenever I want without having to update the graphics on the cube. For example...I have an MP3 player icon that says "Music" on one page. I can assign that to Mort, or WMP, or anything else I want and not worry about the icon. That allows me to put the icons into the rotation graphics so it's a smooth transition and I don't see the "flash" when the app icons load on top of an otherwise different background.

Whew...long-ass question for something so simple. Any help would be appreciated!

I just installed the CubeConfig3.0.CAB

In the usual screen that says successfully installed and if you need more room... It is followed by a message I have not seen yet:

The program you have installed may not display properly because it was designed for a previous version of Windows Mobile software.

So far it seems to be working properly. A question:

I use the Windows Live Mobile for email, etc. Using the default path for Windows Live takes you to what I guess is the main screen - Has the search bar, email and a box for messenger. I would like to go directly to the email screen. My guess is that there is no separate application (ie different path) but probably a setting for a particular service or or whatever the proper name is for it; like the extra instructions for the tmail app to direct it to sms or email, etc. Has anyone already found a solution for this?

It would be nice to add a feature that would export/import all the settings for the cube to a text file or xml or whatever is easiest/most practiacal.

It would be a faster way to make changes but also serve as a backup for what can be a rather time consuming process.

I suppose any update from Sprint may wipe out our customization, not to mention a hard reset if necessary.

That's odd... I am using the HTC Vogue (with Bell Canada, but exactly the same hardware and firmware versions) and it works on the 3 app screen for me. Bell has the Music button go to their mp3 store. I changed it to WMP. One tip: The "Windows Media" option is not WMP. Use browse, select \windows directory and look for wmplayer.ink or wmplayer.exe there.

You can't just rename the file, you actually have to convert it from brn to bmp or vice-versa. I've attached the (excellent) brnconvert program that has been posted many times around the forums...someone please help me remember who wrote this app -- I'm afraid there's no "about" screen and I just have the zip file with the app in it.

Just unzip this to your PC. I've got the program on my desktop... drag a bmp file over it and it will convert to the proper brn format. When you want to edit the brn file, you can simply drag the brn over on to the application and it will be converted to a bmp. VERY SLICK.

Try downloading it again -- I just downloaded the attachment from my previous post and was able to execute the exe with no problems...

BTW - you can run the exe and drag over the file, or you can drag over the icon...either should work just fine. The nice thing is, whatever directory your original graphic is in, the converted file appears there -- not in the directory with brnconvert file.

You can put it anywhere but when you install it, it will ask you where you would like to install the files (storage card or device) its really just personal preference.

I'm having a problem with the touch cube.

I have a HTC Touch Cruise, and i tried the 2d animation just to see how it looks. After saving i tried it and i noticed it was'nt what i liked so i wanted the 3d animation back.

But, the 3d won't come back, i saved and also deactivated it, but still, no 3d animation.

Someone please help me, maybe a answer or some files i can copy to my device to fix it would mean a lot to me.

Two questions I wanted to ask you guys. First I'v gone ahead an have completed 2 of the 3 sided quick launch apps. Last one seems to be getting the better of me. I'm trying to figure out how(if possible) to launch a path to my custom ringtones. To bring up the actual white screen that comes up when you go to select a different ringtone. Heck maybe even just the file where my ringtones are placed. Right now I have my custom ringtones on my storage card.

Second question, I've done the six app, an 2of3 quick launch apps(see above), after a quick soft reset, they work good. The only think I see between the cube coming up, or once its scrolling through all three sides- for a second I can still see the old icons. Once the screen comes up, my new icons do display, an are linked. Am I missing something on installation, or is this normal. For someone who doesn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell, an really its not that big of a deal. I just wanted to see if theres a fix for the delay. Thanks in advance.

That happens because it still has the old animations mapped to the cube. Many people don't like this so they get the blank animations that just display a black cube when moving the cube from one side to another. Unless you are using a cube like Pollen's Vista Cube 2 or his original which he made animations for then they should be the same as the ones showing up. Hope that helps.

You can change them out using the cube config tool. Click on the animations tab but you would have to change them out for all the rotations which is kind of a pain in the you know what. I will attach the blank animations for you in case you want to do that.

It was written for the USA Sprint Touch. Your phone apparently has a different directory structure. Sorry, it won't work for your device.

I've read through and not seen anyone address this (although I only quickly glaced through really) I used to use the elf version of this which did the animation work and everything for you.. is this tool much like that one? Will it animate it automatically or do we have to do our own bmp animation files?

After the wm6.1 ROM upgrade, this app no longer handles icons properly. Its not the applications fault, but HTC changed the way the icons are read, apparently they can only be in the \Windows\ directory, or something. MusicMan had some fixes for it and his various Cube mods, but this application didn't seem to get an update.

You can still change the launcher paths for the cube using this app, but changing the icons makes the cube just show black spots.

I hope this hasn't already been addressed, but I've not found it here or at PPCGeeks. That being, my only internet connection at the moment is on my xv6900 from Verizon, so browsing extensive webpages isn't all that easy.

Here goes: I have installed both the configuration tool and the touch settings. My cube now has four sides, i.e. and extra applauncher with six buttons. I've mapped one side with radio streaming pls files and names, linkedt to tmcmp. So, I click on NRK-1 and get this Norwegian station, can click on the next button to get a German news station and so forth. The media hub I linked to three of my most commonly visited websites (cnn.com, spiegel.de, wikipedia.org) so that I have a nice big touch link and connection. All of this works great. And I have thanks to all involved in making this possible.

I spent several days playing with the custom icons (couldn't make my own because my desktop is a Mac and the brn-convert software isn't compatible (or I'm too dumb to figure out...). I've gone back to simple uniform icons for everything so I can change button mapping more quickly. My problem: When I use the touch flo from right to left, I get all sides perfectly. But, when I go from left to right, the new applauncher shows with the icons slipping to the left off the screen and a slice of the mediahub icons showing on the right. The labels are in the correct places and the buttons work. I tried going to registry settings and manually copied the height and width settings from the apps in launcher 1 into launcher 2. No effect.

This is just cosmetic, but it would be cool if fixable.

Thanks you anyone who can help and my apologies for such a long message. I'm a professor and I guess it shows.

P.S. Am now using the Apple Wireless Keyboard with the ppc and finding it really useful.

it seems that the application doesnt want to save the settings, i hit save, then reboot, and the files dont work, then i re run the application, and my saved settings are not there, they are back to the default settings


help?
