Strange. I tried three times and one time from bootloader with same error.
Could be because of SPL 2.60? But I think I flashed other radios with it, but I don't remember.
Will investigate it and try a downgrade.

I've SPL 2.60 installed as well but it flashed without any problems. Only thing is you need to manually soft-reset your device after the upgrade reaches 100%. It is a known 'inconvenience' of the latest SPL.

It was not that. I simply forgot that I changed my device ID last week and had to hexedit the .nbh. accordingly.

ATT - (Washington DC) - 3G

Picks up signal extremely fast, I would say faster than 1.54.07.00. GPRS is also quick, but I believe it comes with the cost of battery. Battery dropped 20% in an hour from regular browsing and couple of phone calls. This is noticeably higher than 1.47x and 1.48x radios.

Better signal strength and 3g where I used to get strong Edge. I like it much better. I used to think that people were just making things up about one radio being better than another, however this time I can really tell the difference.

What's the scoop on the "you need SPL 1.11" warning?

I'm still with Olipro 2.10. (I'm not a developer, so no previous need to move above 2.10)

I've found the Olipro 2.60 thread, and done some Wiki searching, but of course we should force folks to use version #'s that are 4 digits long, since searching for 3-character words doesn't work :)

I flashed this radio yesterday from 1.54.00.10. All seems really good. I will travel across country tomorrow and will give the trusty Hermes a good workout. Will report any positive/negative findings this weekend.

Over & out!

OK...back from this trip. Wisconsin to Cincinnati to Atlanta to Palm Beach, FL. In every case the radio was very quick to grab a 3G signal. Much quicker than any other radio I've had. Very stable, clear and I only had one dropped call. The only bummer was it munched on my battery.

* BEAM set to off
* No Bluetooth
* No Wifi
* Email checks every 30 minutes

I received/made a handful of calls that lasted no more than 15 minutes. I checked & answered approx. a dozen emails. With a full battery in the morning, I was getting that "Low Battery" notification by 10PM. I really like this radio overall, I'll just have to remember to have a charging device close by.

Seemed fine first and no dropped calls and 3G works great,
but i ran in a major issue nonetheless

2G/GPRS data connection doesn't seem to work at least

GSM only on FIdo/Rogers in GTA is perfect, no missed calls and the phone is "ringing" fast, on CDMA/UMTS when selected is eating battery fast, is more energy consuming, when WiFI enabled it drops down the signal "two units" looks like 2.4 GHz is jamming 1.9 GHZ PCS network, but is OK in 850 MHz

I'm in the GVRD as well. I'm using 1.54.07 right now on Fido. Can anyone give some info on how 1.54.30.10 is performing in Vancouver? Also, maybe post which ROM they are using it with. I'm thinking about switching to Fun_Key's 3.62 and keeping 1.54.07.

If 1.54.30.10 battery life is better, i'll switch over.

Hi.
As irockash , got a lot of missed calls, freeze with 1.54's versions.

I have even now, a SIM Unknown status, and i have to re enter pin code several times a day.

Went back to 1.51.

I was on Radio_1.54.07.00 and generally very happy with it, apart from the battery life wasn't that good. This new one Radio_1.54.30.10 does seem a little better on performance but a little less good on battery life - very marginal.

I'm on Vodafone in Canberra Australia.
I was on Radio Version: 1.47.30.10, which came stock with the Dopod 838 pro I bought last month. Lately, most of my calls were missed calls. The phone would ring for a split second and the call was gone before I could even grab the phone.
I upgraded to this Radio version 24 hours ago. None of my calls are missed calls so far! Battery performance looks about the same (which is OK). Sound quality is the same (which is good). 3G & HSPDA internet works great.

So far so good!

Thank you Caxio. It's just brilliant to extract this from the Telstra Rom. :)

The same way you upgrade OS roms with a SD card. Just copy the nbh file on the card (formatted FAT32 and preferably empty) and rename the file hermimg.nbh. OK+Power+reset and... done (be patient a radio rom loads very slowly compared with a OS rom)

I did a comparison with POP3 email checking on and off.

With POP3 and pushmail on, the battery drain is around 150mA.

Without POP3 but pushmail on, the battery drain is around 70-100mA.

This is about the same for other radio versions.

Signal is good. I live in an outer suburb in Melbourne and I usually get 2 bars 3G signal with Telstra. Now I get 3 bars most of the time. At present I am in US (San Jose) and I have 4 bars.

As for battery, I have a feeling it strains out more than 1.51 which I had previously. Don't have any objective measure for that, though.

Guy_Incognito
11th December 2007, 03:50 AM
Seems to be better overall compared to 1.47. Unsure about battery life, although it usually lives on it's car charger for me anyway when I'm out and about.

I can report that the fringe reception and call quality has improved a bit - phone will now hold voice and data calls in a previously-dead spot where I sit before I head underground to work. Which is not suprising, seeing as it's Telstra's radio rom, and I'm with Telstra, so no doubt there's a bunch of little Telstra-specific tweaks to the general parameters in there to accommodate our....interesting.... cell topology.

:( Back to 1.51.00.10

I don't know if it's my hardware or if other people reset their phones more often then me but alot of these roms have issues with my phone if it's not reset like once aday. 1.51 is the only new radio rom that I've not had issues with.

The main problem is it seems the phone part of my phone crashes with these roms - I know that sounds confusing so let me explain.

Basically, I don't receive calls even though the phone claims to have perfect signal. When I go to make a call (either by hitting the green button or selecting phone from the start menu) nothing happens. I can not bring the dial pad up. No matter what I do, I can not make or receive a call until I reset the phone. Then the phone is usually ok for 24-48 hours and this happens again. This is clearly unacceptable behavior for a phone! :)

So do most people here just restart there phones every 24 hours (I know this is a tinkering forum so this is entirely possible), are you having this problem as well and just don't care or is it something with my hardware?

Guy_Incognito
12th December 2007, 12:09 PM
I don't have any problem with lockups as you describe, with any radio version. With this version, phone has been on for 4 days now with numerous calls in both directions without difficulty.

Perhaps your provider has some specific "issue" that only particular rom versions deal with?

Seems like every provider adapt radio to his own net-issues. Therefore T-Mobile and O2 ship ROMs with 1.50 radio, AT&T and Telstra - with 1.54, and so on.

Of course it is not prohibited to try any radio in any net :)

Ofcourse I realize that. All I was saying was somebody had suggested that I might try the AT&T varriant since that was my operator and it might be an issue with the network causing my problem and I was just stating that I had tried it (along with the other variants) and the issue persist. I realize also it could be quite possible it is related to using a cooked rom but I suspect most of the people who have responded are also using a cooked rom. I have tried most of the popular roms in this forum and this problem persist through all so I don't think it's related (though I confess, I have not had a manufacture's rom since WM6 offical was first released)

I honestly believe this is also possibly ROM and location dependent. I am on Schaps old 4.0x rom and have not had any trouble with this radio. In fact, this radio is much better in establishing edge -> 3g connection. DC Metro/Maryland area.

Been running this for a couple of weeks now. Really happy with the performace, managing 1078kb/s download & 162kb/s upload on Telstra Next G. Battery is an issue when I'm in a poor coverage area. In town I'll get 1.5- to 2 days of moderate use. I'm in the countery at the moment (100km outside of Mildure for the Aussies) and battery warning comes up by 7pm from 100% at 8am. So looks like these things really chew up the battery trying to get a good signal.
So give it a whirl, just keep a charger handy. I got one of the Motorola USB changers which will charge my jasjam twice with one charger. Highly recommend. RRP $70AU, got mine on ebay for $25

Using this Radio for 3 weeks now in regional Queensland (Bundaberg and surrounds) on Telstra NextG and I have noticed an improvement in reception and battery life has not changed much but I am still getting about 95% of my incoming calls drop out as i try to answer manually. Via Bluetooth (Parrot and BlueAnt) it answers perfectly everytime... I think I have tried everything and it's too frustrating for words... any clues? anyone?

Hi:

I tried this radio in Saudi Arabia. It is going fine so far, however for some reason the name of the operator has disappeared. I still see the signal strength and I can make and answer calls, but no display to the GSM carrier at all.

Did someone face this error at all? what's the solution? please advise.

Thank you.

Samer.

My last radio version was a 1.41, so I was due for an upgrade.
I was trying to install the AT&T 1.54 radio version for awhile, but kept getting 2.60 Errors. So I gave up and installed this version without any problems. I'm on AT&T in Deltona Florida. So far no issues. It switches between E to 3G to H,,, but all my radios have done that. Calls with a data connection work fine, and the data connection doesnt disconnect during the call. I performed a 1MB speed test on dslreports, and got 681 kbits/sec. I'll use it for awhile and see what happens.

Thanks,
Mike

same here... should proceed?

Yet I have the problem with the AT&T (My operator) 1.54 as well. Yet at the same time, I don't have this problem at all with 1.51 - it works perfectly and I once had the phone run for a month straight without reset (The only reason I did was I changed the rom)

LOL ouch, i cant believe you trust so much on micro$oft, i dont have any kind or radio or specific rom problems but anyway i use a small app to soft-reset the phone every night just to clean shit up...and it is waaaaaaaay smaller and simpler than oxios memory that every1 uses and does kinda the same:

Upgraded the Radio version with this one almost 2 days ago. The upgrade was a breeze (I'm on SPL 2.10 Olipro).

I've been making / receiving phone calls (1h40 duration in total so far), sending text messages & MMS and taking some pictures with the PDA since then.

No lost calls so far, the signal seems to be steady.

I haven't used the WiFi or bluetooth functions yet, but my battery (standard one) went from fully charged to 30% charge left, which is the same battery consumption I had before the upgrade (from Radio 1.48).

I do not switch the phone off at night, so this is pretty normal battery draining so far.

Unless I experience some trouble with the WiFi / bluetooth functions, I see no reason not to keep this Radio version :)

I've tested this radio for some other days and...
well I don't know if my sensation is true but it really seems that battery consuption was high and, however, signal strength isn't nothing special (comparing with version 1.47) here in my zone with wind .
Now i've flashed version 1.51.
I hope that this version will be better than 1.47 and 1.54 ;)

See you soon with update!

2 days and 5 hours after the upgrade (with 2h15 phone calls in total, several text messages and some photos taken) I finally put it to charge, although there was still about 10% charge left it in the battery (the original, standard battery with 1.350 mAh capacity).

This seemed to be pretty much what I had before upgrading the Radio version.

Bluetooth functions are working without constraints. Still haven't used the WiFi though.

Succeeded to HardSPL Version 7 following MrVanx's great great guide! The tri-color screen does show IPL-1.04 and SPL-2.10.Olipro. Then proceeded to upgrade only this radio rom (1.54.30.10), again following great MrVanx's guide. Screens shown during upgrading as normal as shown in the guide. After soft reset, however, the radio rom in my phone still shows 1.14.01.10 .

Am I lucky not to brick my radio rom (but I'm confident in the guides here in xda-developers and also MrVanx)? Or did I still miss something before I could flash this new radio rom?

I upgraded from 1.54.07.00 (AT&T) 3 days ago to this one and everything is working great. Also, I now get a very low strength 3G/H icon in my office, where I have always had only Edge or no signal. So I'm keeping this one for now.

Hi!
I am trying to upgrade the radio version of my herms100 but the utility says "Please be aware that this flash is intended solely for SPL 1.11 and you must have 1.11 Hard-SPL installed in order to flash any unsigned files".

1 -As I have spl 2.10 olipro will I have problems flashing this radio?
2- Does this radio limits the provider I can use, or I will be able to use any provider I chose?
3- Any one know If this radio works fine in Brazil?

1. You should not have problems. I've seen this message from time to time using the RUU program. Sometimes you need to push a button in the phone to confirm, when the RUU is trying to determine if HArdSPL is installed. But I hear the SD Card method is safer...
2. I used radio 1.54.30.10 (I'm using 1.56.70.11 now) in PR, Chile, Michigan and Hong Kong / China and it works.
3. I have no idea.

I have installed this radio rom together with the new ROM from CRC 13.0. My phone freezes and then gets very hot (due to extreme radio use) and then the battery drains. Anyone had the same problem or knows if this is caused by ROM or radio rom?

I don't think its the radio . I haven't notice something like that. In fact 1.54.30.10 and 1.47.30.10 are the less power drain radios among all radios for hermes

I'm an AT&T customer living in N. California.

Upgrade to this radio just before a trip to UK. Worked fantastically in UK, no battery/power issues but back her in US Reception/dropped calls and generally pretty bad. Seems to run battery down quicker also but that could be more to do with having access to data plan which I had blocked while away.
