custel let me tell you these are some fast and stable roms.
Running Custel's 2.0 TouchFlo Version.
Running very smoothly. Faster than Dutty's TouchFlo Beta ROM Tilt Version. I like having KaiserTweak automatically installed. ActiveSync works very quickly.
Phew. So far so good. ROM is fast and works fine with the latest Radio. I've been running in half a day and battery is definitely lasting longer. I have ActiveSync ON (with the phone connected to an exchange server the whole time) and I'm in a border 3G area.
If battery does hold like this, this is by far the best setup. Awesome CUSTEL.
Great rom, I must commit. It is the fastes of all roms I've tried.
after installing the mobile crack my ram did drop a lil as expected but its totally worth it.. ive never seen htc audio or htc album load quicker.. programs open like instantly.. deff faster then duttys and i honestly thought his dogfood was the fastest.. move over dutty.. custel's back!
damn you CUSTEL...made me HardSPL my tilt and load your ROM...but this thing FLYS
I love this ROM. Its the only one that I've used that I have not looked back, or checked hourly for updates. Its exactly what I need :D
gonna try convincing my other coworkers to switch wont be hard tho this thing is blazin!!!

Does anyone have a link to the cab for the HTC automatic settings program? I know when I travel to foreign countries and pop in the SIM, I don't want to screw around with setting them manually. I MUCH prefer the Kaiser just taking charge and doing it.

Thanks!!

The rom is locked to the radio. If you run the att rom then you have to use the radio or you will not have any audio.

No issues thus far. I prefer the 10 Button Comm Manager but that is any easy fix. Going to try it out for a couple of days...but overall very impressed.

Update: Does not automatically detect Network Settings. Also having problem after soft reset HTC Home does not come up correctly. Have to go into Today Menu and uncheck it and then check it again to make it work. Kind of annoying.

Custel 2 flashed and in testing right now. First impressions are that it's not quite as quick as v1, but that's not too much of a problem as I want to test the new radio rom.

I have noticed that there's no Band tab in Phone options though - makes it a little trickier to turn off 3G (I suspect I can install the 10 button comm manager and do it that way though).

Will report back after a day or so testing.

My buddy at work who I sold my 8525 too is now seeing just AT&T and not 3G AT&T. Maybe AT&T did something?

Im having an issue installing java applications. Both Opera Mini, and Gmail have java apps that when I try and install I get the following error.

...cannot be found at this URL. - 1
Please contact your operator for more information.

So the java client has some issue with URLs passed to it for the install file. Has anyone else had this issue?

AT&T Chopped & Screwed Variants are for AT&T Tilt users, CUSTEL variants are for all users.

Great rom, I must commit. It is the fastes of all roms I've tried. But still... some bugs:

- Video call doesn't work. If someone calls me in, I even don't now someone is calling me. And outgoing video call is not possible to make at all
- Sometimes after phone switches itself off, I cannot power it on (wake up), until I soft-reset it, pressing the buttons only switches leds on keys on.

And yes, it's clean rom, without any cabs installed.

But... incredible speed... nice work.

BR

PS
I think it's Radio ROM issue.

Can you make a tool which exports your 'personal' settings into a file i.e. ring volume, sounds and back light settings and such things? Everytime i try a new rom i end up having to put all these setting back to normal and it can take a lot of time...

What do uthink?

If you can fix the delayed GPS issue where it takes sooooooooo long to find a signal it would be good. Is that something you can fix or is it just something we have to live with?

You know I used GPS twice yesterday with this ROM, and it got the fastest fix ever since I bought the phone. So I believe the GPS fix speed is unrelated to this ROM since you are experiencing long lock times with it.

Custel, something you may want to consider for the next build. Some of the options in KaiserTweak are set on the default. There are a few adjustments that could be made that are more optimal. Specifically, all of the power saving options are defaulted to disabled. TCP/IP settings are not to the recommended. The "notifications" resume from suspend are still at 1 second, this would prevent push mail updates from sleep. A few others I dont recall were also at the default.

I know these are all fixable by the user, but it would be nice to be defaulted to the best settings for those users that don't check. Plus it could make your ROM work fast, better and last longer between charges.

Im one of the people who had an issue with the java midlet, I installed one of the ones you recommended, I will follow up on if it helped. If it does work, is there any way to remove the included one? Its not listed under "Remove programs". Not a big deal though.

I love this ROM. Its the only one that I've used that I have not looked back, or checked hourly for updates. Its exactly what I need :D

Sound issues will be related to not having the latest ROM which is why I posted a link to it under the requirements section of the first post.

I will research the sleep of death issue, this is the first time of it being reported with out additional apps or modifications added. Which version of the ROM are you using?

I started seeing this as well right after running the Custel Touch version on a Tilt.

With the current build. Installing Jbed Java MIDlet manager 20070622.2.1 actually broke it more then before. It might be because there were 2 java managers. I could'nt get it to even run. I would recommend removing that link.

However Tao Java MIDlet manager 10.1.7.575 solved all my problems. I just had to reinstall the applications.

Look forward to hearing your next report.

Thanks!

I desided to take it easy today, so i've been testing a little today after all...

I experienced few SOD's, I havent had those since uprgading to Kaiser from Hermes. I have same programs installed as before the flash, and less actually.

Since that, I detoxed it from crack, well see if it makes any difference.

One thing, does the video call feature work? Im only able to make a normal call from the video call button.

About a month ago when I got the Kaiser, I immediately flashed Helmi's rom on it, and that is only other rom I had in it. I didn’t even turn it on with the original rom.

Installed programs are:

Spb Pocket Plus 4, Spb Diary (only things on my today screen), Total Commander, rk-OSR, WkTask, Jimm98y’s smart dialling, Spb Elf calculator skin, Windows live and Sharky48 softkey changer which actually is something I dint have on my previous installation.

Maybe I should try and uninstall it…

The show sim contact's is just a basic registry modification. If the cab does not work which it should then navigate to TaskMan RegEdit and change the following string.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000000

to

"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001

Then power cycle your device and the sim contacts should show.

The touch variant is still uploading, I will post when it is finished. It is titled CUSTEL Touch v2.1. This version will be fine to flash to a non-AT&T device, the only ones AT&T specific are the "AT&T Chopped & Screwed" variants. The only requirement is you must use the radio that was released with the AT&T ROM which can be found under "requirements" in the first post.

If you are seeking a non-touch variant then CUSTEL v2.1 is uploaded and ready to flash.

hehe I get asked that a lot... Jake is a dedicated tester and for the most part I have learned what I can and can't do in terms of customizations from when I owned a hermes to maintain a good balance between speed and stability.

Oh, I get it - 3g is now fixed because Network Config is included, but there was never anything wrong with it before.

First thing I've noticed about 2.1 - I'm getting security warnings when I install cabs. Nothing major at all, and an easy fix, but just thought I'd point it out.

Oops, I must have accidently deleted one of my registry changes :o

Try flashing to a ship rom and radio combo, then upgrade your raido, then flash my rom. I have a feeling it might be because the radio was flashed after the rom.

I just tried your ROM. I was using HELMI_C's ROM first.
However I have 1 issue. My Camera is not working! I just see nothing on screen, everything is black.(Not my hand is not in front of the lens, lol)
I haven't flashed the new Radio yet, so I have no sound, but I know about that. I just wanted to try it first, without flashing the Radio ROM.
After a while, it shows an error: Unable to capture photo. Unable to get frame data from camera device.
Any ideas? This has nothing to do with the Radio ROM isn't it?

BTW: Any news about the new version with CF 3.5? I see the AT&T version is already available.
Yeah, one other thing. Your ROM seems fast but scrolling trough "Programs" seems really slow / choppy. This is with your cache-tweaks applied.
I think I solved the above small issue. Moving HTC Action to a subfolder of Programs folder really made it faster. HTC Action isn't showing an icon. Maybe it can't be found, and that makes it slow???

I'm on Orange UK and I get just "Orange". Am still not having the smoothest ride with Network Wizard... It didn't kick in on first boot after flashing and didn't put my voicemail number in (I know this so I did it manually)

Otherwise, nothing to report but the best speed i've tried to date, even full up with all my own apps

For those having the SOD issue. I used to have it with other ROMs. I no longer have that issue since switching to CUSTEL. Like he said, it might be related to the order of updates/radio version changes.

I flashed stock HTC rom with the original radio on my tilt, then I flashed XDA live rom with the new radio, then I flashed CUSTEL. Have not had a single SOD yet.

Only thing I dislike is the default HTC rom put "Smart Mobility" on the startup screen. So now I have to research how to change that.

Why not strip the CF entirely and make it available as CAB(s)? This would dovetail with the removal of Java. After all, they're both bytecode languages and both have frequent updates.

That could make sense, the problem was so consistent compared to Hermes SOD, when i had that problem it happened once in 2 days maybe. On Kaiser every other time it went to sleep it was dead.

I've not noticed that - to me 2.1 seems to be pretty much perfect. I gave TomTom a run out last night too, so GPS and TomTom get a big thumbs up on this ROM.

Although, in typical style, I did notice another "bug" - it looks like there are some contacts left over from the AT&T build:

Voice Connect
View My Minutes
Pay My Bill
MusicID
Directory Assistance
Check Bill Balance

It's a bit annoying as they get sync'd up to my Exchange server after each flash!

Still, I don't regret donating - this rom is the first to make my Kaiser feel like I expected it to.

So, this is my 3rd ROM I've tried with this new ROM. I am in the downtown Orlando area and I've gotten H speeds here before with other ROMs. I think the radio might have issues with H here in this area. I see that some other people have mentioned not getting an H icon when connecting. Any word or ideas on that? It only seems to happen with this new radio.

*EDIT:
I SWEAR I checked this!!!! It wasn't enabled in Kaiser Tweak. I know what happened now... I put the ROM on there, did some settings then hard reset just to make sure everything cleared out and forgot to set tweak. This is officially the first rom with the new radio that I can get H.

The only reason for v2.2 was to change the .net to v3.5 so since I am no longer going to. Mainly due to the results not being as they were on other devices. There is a cab readily available for the upgrade so I don't really see a point to issuing another release for such a minor difference.

It appears this ROM already has CF 2 installed. As I understand it, installing CF 3.5 will not produce a speed increase if it's an "upgrade". It just eats space since there are no 3.5 apps out yet. Can you strip out the CF completely?

AdvancedConfig reports CF 2 even after installing CF 3.5 immediately after hard reset, so I don't know that CF 3.5 is even getting installed at all.

All I want for Christmas is a completely stripped ROM with CF 3.5. ;)

All I want for Christmas is a completely stripped ROM with CF 3.5. ;)
I'll think about it.
i have to admit, that the 2.1 is slower than 2.0, i've been testing it alot! Not sure what it going on or changed!
I believe the only thing I changed that would reflect performance was the glyphcache.
I just installed "AT&T Chopped & Screwed PTT Touch v2.1" and the PTT WORKS GREAT (THANKS A MILLION) but I have not touch, when I go to the touch settings it even says it "cant find any prior settings, is touchflo installed?" could someone please verify this??

Fix added to post #2.

Just installed & re-installed 2.1 and upon start-up, I get a rectangle like a new call is coming in.......

Anyone else experience this....

Reason: Start Clean was triggering the "Not Certified Program Crap" partially.
Fix: Used KaiserTweak and disabled "Not Certified Warning"

Thanks for the quick response...........

H icon still does not show for HSPDA speeds. Only in Custel roms it does not show up.

Chris (cjkerr) has been running spb benchmarks on the currently available cooked ROMs. I wanted to share the results of my test for those that were interested.

Good news Joshua! You're ROM is the fastest! Your Benchmark index is 446.48

From a clean install of v2.1 TouchFlo, I installed the MobileCrack CAB and then ran the test.

Re-benchmark results, I'm not sure if all these are correct but the benchmarks are showing different.

I got these from cjkerr as well.

[quote=cjkerr]Dear Kaiser Chef's Extrodinaire!

Over the last 24 hours, you guys have been really busy cooking away, so I thought I would run some benchmarks for you on my own Kaiser.

I can't attached the JPEGs I have to this PM, so if you have either email or an FTP I can pop these on that'd be great, they're all ready to go. Here's a breakdown of the top line results and how I got them:

SPB Benchmark Index

Custel - 393.01
Dutty - 432.06
Schaps - 428.2
Alex - 445.72Device Setup

Device: HTC TyTN II / SIM Unlocked
HardSPLv7
Network: Orange UK
Radio: 1.27.12.17 (1.27.14.09 for Custel)
My Computer: Windows XP SP2

ROM's Tested

Custel v2.2 (This is a Beta with known bugs so I hope to restest once Custel has fixed CF3.5 integration)
Dutty No.5 TouchFlo Fixed with CF3.5 (not No.6 cos the links we're working, but I will retest once the ROM is up)
Schaps 4.21 WWE Full
_Alex_ UltraClean 1.56.405.5_11-28-07Process

Install Radio (if required)
Install ROM
Install SPB Benchmark v1.6 - This is the Desktop varient with the reporting tool, to install I do the ludite method via Add/Remove Progs in ActiveSync
Disconnect connection to Computer
Run Test
Reconnect Computer
Run Report
Hi Dutty,

No in fairness I gave Custel a heads up on his other ROM. The figures you have here are for a prototype v2.2 release which he's still working on. The new figures Custel release are for his v2.1 ROM (TouchFLo varient, non-AT&T)

Your No.6 ROM is testing as we speak :-)

Radio 1.27.14.09 (http://rapidshare.com/files/67452555/Kaiser_Radio_Only_1.27.14.09_CustomRUU.rar)

My first Windows Mobile device, so please excuse my newB question.

Is it safe to upgrade my UK T-Mobile MDA Vario III radio from 1.27.12.11 to 1.27.14.09 (from AT&T?). Any UK users find any issues with this? Works well? I'd love to try this ROM, looking out for something lean that is as fast as possible.

Thanks bro!

Mate I did this on my Orange UK phone. You need to make sure you fully read all the threads on how to flash your phone, and make sure yuo have HardSPL installed (CID Unlocker from PoF). Also, I did pay for a SIM Unlock before I flashed just to be on the safe side (nto sure if this is required, but I got my phone on a contract and didn't want a dead phone for 12 months!)

I have used Radio 1.27.14.09 on my Orange phone no problems at all, and Custel's v2.1 ROM is the fastest tested ROM out there right now (testes with SPB Benchmark 1.6 this morning by myself)

Thanks cjkerr!

Gonna try this when I get home :) :)

I'm running Dutty's ROM at the moment which is v. nice, but I just feel it has a bunch of stuff that I don't need/want.

The stock T-Mobile ROM made me want to return the phone. It was lagtastic, and it just felt slow and crap. 400MHz? My ass! These hacked up roms really breathe some life into it though - I'm really grateful for them.

A few days ago I was gonna 'upgrade' to an E90... but I think I'll stick with this a bit more.

Wow you came out with this fast, now it looks like I will have to re-flash from the v1.0 that you did to one of these, just when I got everything setup and installed too. Thanks for all the good work. After the holidays I will send some green your way too.

Hey don't give in on the Kaiser just yet! It really is an iPhone killer for those that want a decent level of functionality... or even the basics like 3G :-)

Recommended ROMs from me would be Custel v2.1 and Dutty's No.6 TouchFlo /CF3.5 - I have tested these and others in the last 24 hours and they are both very fast. There's _Alex_'s UltraClean 1.60 ROM too, but that's incredibly stripped back and mroe designed for Cooks than users like you and I.

Also, keep your eyes open for Custel v2.2 which I think will have the new .NET Compact Framework 3.5 (aka CF3.5) which promises to be very fast and stable, with a good balance of useful tools but not packed like Dutty's and Schap's ROMs are (not putting this down, it's just not for everyone)

2.1 is outstanding! I'm not sure the time you would otherwise spend on 2.2 would result in anything all that much better.

You've offered us an incredible mix of performance, stabliity and a nice menu of extras without going overboard... At this point, I'm not sure I would want to switch to another ROM (even if it is the next in your series) unless it involves some additional improvement at the radio level.

Great job... now take a rest! :-)

I was thinking about installing .NET CF3.5 on Custel v2.1

Does Custel v2.1 include .NET CF2.0 already? If it does, can I remove it?

Yes, it comes with CF 2. No, you can't remove it. You can install 3.5 over it, but it will not speed up your phone like it would if it were "baked in". In fact, AdvancedConfig 1.1 reports CF 2 even after installing CF 3.5. Frankly, I don't think installing 3.5 on this ROM does anything at all.

Sorry to sound so disappointing, but I had high hopes for a true CF 3.5 ROM. CUSTEL's ROM is otherwise ideal.

Is anyone have issues with Pocket RAR installed in this ROM? It locks up every time I open a compressed file now. I dont think I always had this problem. It may have gotten corrupted and I will have to re-flash

As a work around, is there any way to download a link directly to a .cab file? IE will just open .cab files in text format. I cannot save them

Edit: Another thought I just had. Does ActiveSync convert compressed files somehow? I am having issues with zip/rar files I download directly from the phone.

Doh, I've just also come to that conclusion too.

Oh well. I'm running Custel v2.1 now and have a few select apps installed and pretty happy with it. Its fast :)

Yeah, I'd love to try a CF3.5 version though - just can't get enough!

Custel, I love you in a totally platonic non-sexual way, please add this to make it perfect!
