View Full Version : 4 Sided Cube! It Works!

THIS IS FOR THE SPRINT TOUCH ONLY! (HTC VOGUE)

Well, it took me a couple of days, but I've finally been able to get a working 4-sided cube! Here's a screenshot and the details.

SideA - Quick Dial App
SideB - Mini Media Hub
SideC - App Launcher
SideD - 8 button App Launcher


I've also uploaded an alternate D0.brn. Just put it in your \Windows folder and it will be the background for the 4th side.

Now comes the nitty gritty.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE WITH CUBE REGISTRY EDITS!

Basically what this CAB will do is:
- create an APLauncher2.exe in your Windows directory
- create an APLauncher2 folder in your registry
- install the Blank Cube animation provided by storyr
- Create another 8 button App launcher (fourth side) to the HTC Cube that will appear after the first App Launcher

This will NOT:
-change your Media Hub icons or Registry Values
-change your Quick Dial icons or registry values
-change you App Launcher icons or registry values


In the second App Launcher some buttons are assigned, some are not. To assign them you must edit their registry values (which is why I say you should have a basic knowledge of Cube registry editing to install this)

1. WM Player
2. Not Assigned ( I don't have opera mobile installed)
3. Not Assigned
4. Not Assigned
5. FR Notepad
6. Not Assigned
7. HTC Home Customizer
8. Not Assigned

Registry values can be found at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>HTC>Biotouch>APLauncher2>App0-App7

Another issue is that with the new side, individual icons cannot be shown for some reason, so to edit the icons you have to edit the D0.brn. in other words, all the icons are on one image, which to me makes it easier to change a whole page of icons, but it also means there are no "highlighted" icons, either. The text flashes when you press the button, but that is all. Other than that it works perfectly!

This is a big CAB because it replaces all of the animations for your Cube as well as adding a new side.

ok I loaded this app and it is working fine, how do I change the registory to the program I want to launch. I know how to change settings in the registory but I don't know what values. Like if I want to launch a golf game instead of opera, can I do that and where do I get the values for the new registory entry. And thern I have to change the icon in the (pic) file for the 4th side, what program would I use.

I hope I at least have the concept straight, if the info is posted in other forums, like for the wizard or hermes....... can I follow those instructions or should I stick to what I see here?

Hi, what would the animation do, I quess what would be animated, the cube movement? is there an example of the animation?

to change the programs, the registry values are

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>HTC>Biotouch>APLauncher2>App0 -App7>Path

change the value of path to the location of the program. For example, for the button to open GoogleMaps, the path value would be "\Program Files\GoogleMaps\GoogleMaps.exe" without the quotes.

to edit the background (D0.brn), search this forum for BMP to brn convert. convert the brn to a bmp and then edit it, convert it back to a brn and put it in your \Windows folder on your device.

I think it might help in making the 4th side customizable. Thanks in advance!

Anyone has tried the 4 sided cube on the Bell HTC Touch ?

If not, I think I ll give it a shot...

I used Cube Configuration Tool from thisguyinoc's and you can find it in the forums or at ppcgeeks.com Its a cap and it gives me the option 6 side cube option and it also makes it easy to set your applications anywhere you want to include the 3 app side. You can set your own icons or you can get some from this site..
