Hello everyone,
Lately my Magician's been dying off at 20% charge so I guess it's time to get new batts. I'm thinking of getting a new one from eBay and there's quite a lot to choose from (Australian eBay). My primary concern is, are these batteries safe to use?
I'm looking for capacity higher than the original 1200mAh but not one of those thick ones. Been reading around the forum and there seems to be a lot of stories about aftermarket batts going out, taking the phones with them. Is it better to get one from a local store, albeit at a higher price? Thank you.

that´s exactly my problem. Mine also dies about 20%, can´t even ring while receiving a phone call. And mine is just about 2 years old. Can´t understand this. I guess i´ll buy a new one, and i wished a 2500mAh capacity battery, but they are way too thick. I am wondering if 1500mAh (higher than original 1200mAh battery) would also be thick, or if it would fit in the original machine.

Mine's nearly 3 years old now. Bought it when it first went on sale in 2005. Actually, sometimes the battery went down all the way to 10% before shutting down. From what I read these batteries usually work for 2-3 years so I guess this is reasonable. I'm just abit worried about the ones on eBay. Also, I'm not going to get those thick ones either.
iRiki: No, I haven't tried taxist's 2.03. I've heard a lot of good things about it, but I'm a bit worried about the keyboard/SIP incompatibilities. I'm quite happy with my setup as it is now.

I have recently bought a 1500mAh battery from Ebay seller (battery-pro).
It is a CS brand replacement using Japanese cells & is a direct replacement using standard cover.
So far I am happy with it, I will update this thread regarding 1500mAh performance after a couple of weeks use.
I think some UK suppliers use CS batteries but where you buy is up to you.
Update:
Battery failed after 3 weeks.
Using original battery until I can source something better.

the highest capacity battery I found that still fits with the standard cover has 1800mHz.
Don't know if it really provides but it works quite nice.

I'm fine with my 2500mAh battery pack. The plastic cover looks quite bad after a year in use and has got many scratches on it. But the battery is still lasting very long until the next charge. Usually I recharge after the display hits the 40% or sometimes 20%. So I have enough power for listening MP3s and other stuff for a few days or standby more than a week.
Although the battery is very big, I like the comfort of not having always to think about the short battery life when listening to music - because that's why I bought my XDA...

'm thinking of getting a new battery as well... considering my Magician is second hand and i've been using her for a year, her battery is really starting to die off quick...
and there's no way in hell i'm going to be using my Wizard...
