Hi @ all!
I found that thread in a german forum http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=121091 .

The reported problem is that the Orbit is connecting much more often to the network an is sending (always) with the maximum power. Means ~900mhz <= 2 watts
and ~1800mhz <= 1watt.
They tested it with 4 different orbits and the following roms:
- Original O2 WM6
- Looks Like Touch
- Black & Blue (GER)
- Mossis Rom
they are all in german... sorry for all others ;)
but maybe the problem is the same in the other versions??

Before someone (like in the german forum) wants to complain: They tested it with a HF-Technician and professional (think it was o2) equipment - so for my understanding it is reliable....

The problem does not exist in the original o2 WM6 ROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So my question: Where are the other (original???) ROMs from?

And: what changes were made to the newer (guess they are all original/official HTC ) ROMs?

Has anybody recognized similiar problems? Like reduced stand-by time, due to the rised comunication between the orbit and the network?

Thanx

as far as I know the radio version should matter here...
maybe the german roms have buggy radio version.

at as far I can see with Touch 3.01 Vanilla there is no faster battery drain or "sound boxes problem" compared to my original O2 WM6 German ROM.

I tried the official wm6 rom available for the Artemis a while back. No difference in battery drain.

I have noticed an improvement in battery life since the release of the new radio

QUOTE: "... the radio version should matter here...

thats the reason why I tried to find out, where all those radio ROMs are from...
according to some cookes and users they are all original htc build - but i cannot confirm that.
maybe the problem is that those (original) HTC ROMs are made for different devices (like Touch) and donīt work properly with the Artemis???

@all,

since the new o2 Orbit II is extremely high in its frequency S.A.R. value = 1,72W/kg, whereas the WHO advises a maximum of 2,0W/kg, I would be highly intrested to know if there are any new finding on this " ...is always sending on maximum power with cooked roms"-thing!!!!!

hello,

When we update artemis with a cooked rom the radio rom is updated.
sometime the new radio rom isn't a rom for an artemis.

have you controled the RF power with a cooked OS rom and the original radio ROM ?
