I have two (2) Touch duals. I can test. Why wait?

Its useless in the moment!

You need to mod a Rom Section with a Special Radio (difficult)
The SPL we use in the moment, isnt full patched (TFT gone White or some Rainbow Color, but we know how to fix)
We need a very Old Radio Rom for some NV-Items to change (wait for a HTC Niki compatible NV-Item edit tool)
It works only 5 min!! After that -> bufferoverflow and Niki crash.

If we fix the 5min bufferoverflow (this is why valvarin need a secound Niki)

the main work was and is disassembly a lot of parts in the rom ... need very much time and is very risky.

but ... after that, we can provide a lot of usefull tools!!! like a "type a2" unbricker ...

Wifi is working but not stable and the patch that work now is not very
usefull, cuz other phone functions doesn't work well... but we working on

If you were a litle bit more informed you should know that they are still developing that solution! I have an email sent by spectec saying this, and they say that maybe this month it will be developed, but in market only in the end of the year. So, once again: There is no solution like that at the moment (Like i said before....)!!!

Hey Everyone,

Firstly, my apologies if what I'm about to say has been covered in this thread already but I've found something interesting which may shed some light on things.

I've read the majority of this thread and could have found out why wifi doesn't work on the Touch Dual.

I currently have a Touch Dual and a TyTn.

In the Network Cards settings, everything is identical EXCEPT the TyTn has a driver installed for the wifi hardware, whereas the Touch Dual doesnt.

There is software on the TD to manage the wifi hardware "WLANSettings" but there is no driver to manage the hardware.

I've done a bit of searching to try and find where the wifi driver is on the TyTn but I can't find any relevant references to it.

My theory was to extract/copy the driver from the TyTn to the TD and see if it works.
No idea if it will or not.

My other theory is that the TD HAS the wifi hardware onboard already and in the future when all the mobile companies come up with some "brilliant" idea to promote the all new TD mobile (maybe different name by then) it will be exactly the same as the current TD but with the wifi driver and other software installed.

Mobile companies do that ALL the time just to get customers in.

So if anyone can point me in the right direction on where to find the wifi drivers on the TyTn for the wifi hardware, please let me know and i'll try and copy it to the TD and see what I can come up with.

u can't take only the the wifi drivers from Kaiser...
I used the Sedna Drivers and then i patched some adresses.

the next thing is wifi is also blocked by the SPL and the Radio Rom.

Guys, I don't pretend to be smart, or in the know with all this cell phone stuff.. All I know is I'd love to have WiFi on my HTC Touch Dual which is what brought me to this forum. GPS doesn't really phase me, although internal GPS would be great, I'm happy with my Bluetooth GPS reciever for my tomtom software etc..

I apologize if this has already been tried, but after reading EVERY bloody page on this topic here, I haven't seen anyone try this solution (maybe I just missed it)

Does the miniUSB port on the left hand side of the HTC Touch Dual have the capabilities of supporting a USB Wifi Dongle? Could we make a patch lead that goes from a male miniUSB to a female regular USB Port where we could plug in a dongle?

This seems almost too easy, and i'd be suprised if someone hasn't already thought of it, or even tried it.. But i'm very interested to see what result was achieved from doing so.

Yesterday i have disassemble my niki100 and have found that's there is only 2 antennas (I didn't explore something new, just confirm that)
And also i have disassemble my crashed Qtek S200 and it have 3 antennas...

Seems like Niki100 doesn't have antenna for Wi-fi.
I don't know other way how to explain why S200 have 3 of them and why niki100 have only 2 of them :(:confused:

If you enable it, it will blind for any access point, because lack of antenna (Same thing with GPS, it doesn't have antenna too)

Sorry to bug you all, I realize your all probably very busy, but this thread seems to have come to a stop.

We all know wifi is there, and there are some of the best hackers/crackers out there working on getting it activated.. All without any real success (no disrespect intended, Getting it working for even a short time is impressive to those who have done it)

My question is, Is it time to count our loses?, Forget about the wifi situation on the HTC Touch Dual & Move onto something that does have wifi?

Or is this still a work in progress with determined people still working on a fix?

Also, to the post above which stated there is no antenna for the wifi.. Even if this was the case, and the wifi was there and the antenna simply wasn't.. Wouldn't the device still detect the network if it was practically sitting on top of the router?

upon further research, I've discovered that the updates I mentioned above are only available to those who purchased their HTC Touch Dual directly from HTC, and are therefor using unlocked/unbranded versions of the phone :(. Does anyone here have such a phone?, Are they able to try the updates, see if they give us the much needed WiFi option, and then upload the updates to a different server for us all to use?.:cool:

I have an HTC Branded/Unlocked (well I assume its unlocked as its not sold in this country and I didn't have to do anything to get it to work with my SIM) but I assume its original origin was somewhere in Asia (possibly India) and the ROM update is only out in European countries.

The WWE won't run on mine, says INVALID VENDOR ID. And all the Country Specific Support pages on HTC's website say my serial number is invalid.


I did get the phone second hand however, on the HTC splash page when it boots up it shows in red text the Radio, ROM etc versions. Is this normal or an indication that its been messed with in the past?

Sorry to spoil everyone's fun with the new updates, but the description from HTC is copied and pasted straight from the Windows Mobile 6.1 description (can't remember where from) It was said somewhere else on here.

Also it would have to patch the radio roms etc etc, which I'm pretty sure is different from your regular OS ROM...

However I really really want to be able to get wifi on my Niki...

You havent any clue what is inside the Niki ... this is a Chipset diagram ... only Chipset!! Wifi is inside the Blue Tooth IC, connected too the SIDO Bus on Radio CPU.

whew! i'm finally done reading this thread. started from page 1 he he he! I just got HTC Touch Dual (not brand new) I was quite disapointed it doesn't have wi fi in it (though I know it's my fault for not checking before buying §;) )

I think my unit is from singapore (SingTel)
