I haven't got a clue mate. I was looking at Expansys but I haven't used any of them before so I don't know who is the best in terms delivery, after sales etc.

I'm looking for some recommendations as well.

They seem a bit more expensive than some but if their service is good I might consider them.

I have pre-ordered mine from Mobile-Planet. (Expansys in the USA) Of course being a newbie, you get a not so hot price but that is a sacrifice to being first. I have heard that the first USA order is arriving in Manchester England on Dec. 14th and 700 of them will be in the USA on Dec. 16th-ish.

I do have a question. I have heard that these phones come with the TomTom software for the GPS. Is that a standard software package in all of the HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris phones? Or, is this something that I have to upgrade to? Or, can I use my own 3rd party app once I get the phone?

Let me know what some of you are doing.

Here in the UK the cruise comes without GPS maps but some places they have a bundle already installed tom tom with a DVD of europe maps and car charger. and maybe a car holder

your question is very good because I was considering buying tom tom separetely if its workout to be cheaper but my findings tell me that a bundle is the cheapest option.

regarding which sofware to buy, I have no experience with GPS software but tom tom seem to be the most popular.

can anyone make comments on tomtom, copilot, mamopolis, etc???? please

I personally have two Garmin GPS's. (Garmin CSx60 & C550 - North America) I can tell you that the Garmin maps, on average, are about 1-2 years out of date. Magellan seems to be about the same and TomTom also. I do know that TomTom is now advertising more frequent updates and better logic behind the routing. (Whether its true or not is unknown) There has also been major bids from Garmin (http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/31/garmin-waves-3-3-billion-in-the-face-of-tele-atlas/) and a few other companies to purchase the mapping software companies. (NavTeq (http://www.navteq.com/)and TeleAtlas (http://www.teleatlas.com/index.htm)) So, to answer your question, I think Garmin has the best logic for routing. TomTom has the best maps. They do get all the maps from the two mappings companies though.

If you want to get into the details, GPSPassion.com (http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/default.asp) or GPSReview.com (http://www.gpsreview.net/) should be able to assist you.

Good luck and let me know if you find anything useful -

Hi guy's

I have ordered mine from here http://www.smartdevicesdirect.com/
I gave them a call before hand and spoke to a chap there called Richard very helpful. He said he would get an updated delivery date and call me back. He did and followed up with an Email. The delivery date is 10th Dec to them and i will have it the 12th Dec.

the price im gonna pay is £388.93 + postage £6.46 total= £395.39

The money doesnt come off my card until its shipped also i havnt used them before now but on them getting back to me etc i went with them. As for expansys they usually have the goods but they also charge a lot for so-so service.

As for the comments on the GPS and TOMTOM, im reading that it comes with TOMTOM but no maps? any other have any more info on it?

last thing, im also hoping that this will be able to take Andriod in futre upgrades anyones thoughts on this?

HTC typically ships GPS enabled phones with a 'Teaser' version of the Nav software which allows you to download one city map for free. After that, you need to pay. I installed a thirp party nav software. My pre-release Cruise arrived with no nav software at all.

I've just chatted with the nice chap at smart devices and they've just been notified by HTC that they wont be receiving stock until the 18th Jan now.

Seems like this wont be anybodys xmas toy after all :(

In Germany, known as O2-Xda Orbit 2 is officially available (here (http://www.o2online.de/handys/Marken/o2/o2-Xda-orbit-2.html)) since beginning of this month (1-12-2007). Yet the dealer is unable to provide me this at the moment, however, it would be available by next week.

About maps, Orbit 2 also comes with COMPLETE maps for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plus ALL main European roads, all in a very reasonable price package, so seems like an ideal solution for me!

I've just requested a pre-order from Expansys and I have an availability to ship of January 21st.

I guess it's taking longer and longer. I might as well start looking for a slim hard case for this. Anyone know if there is one for a brand new product?

Top Mario

I don't think there is any case for the cruise just yet but keep us inform if you find one
