iPhone App for Windows Mobile

Features :

1. All the icons can be customized in a simple Configx.txt File.
2. All the Text under the Icons is also in the Configx.txt File
3. All Applications thats executed can be customized in the Configx.txt file

Lemme Explain about the Configx.txt files

Its in the Following Format :
1.It first has the 16 icons paths as in \Icons\*.bmp
2.Then 16 Names for the icons
3.The then 16 application paths that will run for the apps as in \Windows\calendar.exe for example to launch the calendar
4. BottomDockVisible=0 0 is to hide and 1 is to show th bottom dock
Installation : Insal the CAB file. (It will ceate the folder and the Start Menu Item then :
1. Extract the iPhone1.0.zip file into this folder
\Progrm Files\IPhone\Iphone.exe
\Progrm Files\IPhone\Config1.txt up to config5.txt - Configuration Files
\Progrm Files\IPhone\Signal.txt - App to run when clicking on Signal Indicator or centre button on navi pad (I use slider for this)
\Progrm Files\IPhone\Icons - All Icon Files
\Progrm Files\iphone.txt - Other settings

Final Notes :
Clicking on the battery will quit the app or return to page 1 if on another page

0.92 Battery, Signal Strength, Operator Name Live, added Wiki Icon.

0.94 Automatically centres text for icon descriptions, has .lnk support including parameters.
0.95 Few changes, the second icon in the bottom row is now used for missed calls, sms and email notification. 0.96 All known issues have been resolved. sms, email, missed call notification. Also shows number of unread mails and missed call count.
0.97Four extra Pages added, to use them enter either page1 or page2 or page3 or page4 instead of the .exe file name
If you dont wanna make use of the notification please add a ,9 after the images eg \icons\phone.bmp,\icons\phone-alert.bmp,9
To hide an Image and its text add a ,0 after the image eg \icons\comm.bmp,0
0.99 After about 7 months. I think all the bugs have been resolved and added some popping away function when switching pages as well as running apps.x Popping away animationis set in the iphone.txt file. 0 disabled and any number will set the pop away speed
- Making all pages accessable from any page.
- WM2003 background fixed
- 12/24 hour clock support

- Only one form but multiple pages - one instance
1.0 All bugs removed, link files updated. Can hide any icon by adding a ,0 after it and can isable any of the three bottom notifition icons by addin a ,9 after it

When Upgrading u guys please read th readme file in the zip file, I changed a lot in the format.

Some people dont wanna use the bottm 3 icons as notification icons so to disable it add a ,9 after the one you want disabled, u can also hide the bottom 4 icons by adding a ,0 after all of them and to hide the complete bottob dock change the 1 on the last line in the specific config file to a 0.

If the .Cab file wont install, just unzip the iphone-1.exe.zip file into the \Program Files\iPhone\ folder

I fixed the bug for at & T and moved everything up and smaller to make space for the blue tooth icons coming soon

Yes its different for most devices/Os's so go into the \windows folder and find out which files do what and simply change the config1.txt file

This is a great app except...

There's no animation when you launch something. Or highlight. So sometimes you press again while waiting for something to start up.

Can we please get some sort of feedback when it's accepted the fact you pressed a button? Not sure how this works on the fruit based phone but I'm sure there should be some feedback.

here are some suggestion for you on the next version.


add scrolling to the app so if you want to add more icons on one page you can.
let it pick up default icons from the programs so you don't have to waste anytime on picking an icon for it. (but you can if you want too.)
scroll with finger to go right or left to go to the next page.i have some other ideas and i would like to share it with you. if you are interested please P.m.

BTW: Being able to scroll only one of the horizontal lines from left to right would be great, for, let's say, less important apps. So you have 3 rows of static buttons and just one row that can be scrolled by finger gestures... Saw that on iPhone, looked amazing...

IMO, it would be great to have a scrolling launch page. Either horizontal or vertical. Also, annimation and vibrate with icon color change to reflect program choice.

I use an app to hide the Windows Start bar and the softkeys (it is one of Vijay's tools) and your app then acts as my home page for most running applications (there are a few exceptions but overall it works great). The only issue is that the elements on your app (clock, battery, signal indicator, etc.) are a little low (2 pixels or so) so things look a little "off". I was hoping it was or could be a user changable setting.

Thanks for the info. I can see the name is an issue. If it is moved left align one space right after the signal strength then it will be good even with the longer operator name. If it is done that way, then if the BT and WiFi indicators are needed, that is when they are turned on, then they can be arranged to the left of the clock. These will cover the last portion of the long operator name but I think it will be acceptable because many things operate in the same manner due to the fact that there is not enough space for everything.

Hi there.

Its not really animation its a matter of the icons popping away when you click on an icon. Its tuned off by default. If you use inphys configurator then it can be turned on or open the iphone.txt file and change the Speed=0 to anything but 0. Make it 10 for instance and see how the icons pop away when an app is selected. The 10 is th dealy in which they will pop away. You can also let them pop away between page changes by changing a setting in the iphone.txt file in the last line to 0 or 1. 0 for no and 1 for yes

The Mogul uses. pphone.lnk, when I set it to that I get an error ".lnk not supported." Advice?

Also, any advice on creating a settings icon? I can't find a way to map it.

Love this, jsut spent hours playing with it. I'd mention to add a shortcut to startup so it auto starts in the instructions for the beginners

On a side note, what is POWER.EXE suppose to be? I don't understand where it's suppose to go

1) add a 0.5 sec vibration on page switch\select something - the will be great realises of "back-touch" technology
2) animation is cool - if you can - please, try to realises "pop-up" moving icons by side of display
3) Please (i think it is very important) add a language support!
Now, when I use a cyrrilic sumbols (Russian) - the are not displayed :(

I figured it out for the Touch last night and perhaps the same as the Mogul.

Phone: \Windows\cprog.exe
Calculator: \Windows\MobileCalculator.exe

The only thing I think I would really like to see in this is the ability to see notifications on the screen. Even being able to carry over the Taskbar from my Today screen would be good as an option since I have a really nice iPhone like Wisbar theme that would really well with it.

Is this possible?

Actually, I loaded it to my VGA Dell x51v, and it displays fine... not quarter screen like other QVGA only apps. Everything scaled up fine by default. I think you can call this VGA device compatable.
(I havent tried animations yet).

In my Artemis, version 0.99 does not allow .lnk files. I made two links for power and memory and both say .lnk file is not supported every times I pushed these icons. The short cut for mapking works however....strange :(

I changed back to version 0.986 and the power and memory links work.

The links are text files with information to get to power and memory that can be found in the original post. What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else has the same .lnk format is not supported issue?

click the lower right function key, chose tools
then you will see the create account.

Input your email address then click on Next
WM will to do the rest for you.

hi, Firstly congrats to Grumps for creating such a beautiful app. Earlier iphone lookalikes used to be executed as apps but this has replaced my today screen which is a very good idea. Now I can hit the Windows hardware key for other purposes while I enjoy the shortcuts.

However, I am not able to configure my contacts to any of the keys. There is an Addrbook.lnk file in Windows directory but I cannot use it for the famous lnk file problem. Is there any other way to target my address book for a key?

You won't edit the script, you'll edit the "config1.txt" with notepad. You can copy it to a computer or edit it right on the machine. Start iphone and your changes are made!

Ok i released version 1. The link file problem is resolved for most files but there will still be a problem with some of them. Ill look at another way of reading the .lnk files. Seems like they are different for some devices

Hi,
New to the forum. Saw you go to version 1.0 just as I was downloading. I loaded the cab and then inserted the other files from the zip into iPhone.

Changed some of the links that were still not good, I can give you a list of what I changes if thats useful.
-Calculator.exe is Calc.exe on my phone
-To start phone: cprog.exe on my phone

Problems: Only problem I am seeing is that that tapping the buttons for Page 2 and page 3 cause the program to crash. I am HTC8525 running V5.0.

Other notes. I am using iContact and linking to that from the phone icon.

I decided to use the slider application from Rychlicki.net. There was a clock problem with this one, but a user fixed that. It seems to integrate fine with your application. (I didn't have experience yet with your recommended slider).

I installed OK, I did the following:
Download both the .cab file and the .zip file on your PC.

Put the .cab file onto your phone in the program folder (or where ever you want to put it.

Once loaded, go to the phone (i.e. do this on your phone), find the .cab with file explorer and double click on it to install the .cab. This will create an iphone folder in the program folder.

Now, on you PC take the .zip and extract the files. Once the files are extracted, copy all of them into the iphone folder on your phone.

Then everything should work.

I have exactly the same problem.

When I first tried to install the cab file, I got a message saying "netcf.core.ppc3.arm.cab" is required.

I downloaded that and installed it. Then I get:

The author of the programs is working (hard) to make it work on every HTC device. Just be patient :D

The program looks good and it feels good. Maybe I'll make a mistake but (MDA TOUCH, WM6) The phone button responds with a error (File not found \windows\vtkey.exe). Same error when trying to use the battery button, \windows\power.exe.

Is there a solution ?
look for cprog in \windows. i'm about to edit it in notepad and try it out.


edit: it didnt work. anyone have suggestions? -- trying to get to the dial pad screen to load when clicking on the "phone" (very bottom left corner) to no avail.

I added the iphone.exe file to the first post. Just extract it to the same folder where the rest of the files are and it shpould work without .net 3.

To disable the popping away open the iphone.txt file and change the
Speed=5 to Speed=0

Took me a while to get into the "customization" , but after i learned how it works, it developed to excactly the application I was looking for to use on my "Herald".

Actually I don't care for the "iphone"-look anymore (and that's how it started to catch my attention for your software) , but the usability of the phone increased to a state i never thought of being possible. I'm using my own icons in combination with the programs i want to use with only one finger-tip!!! simply great!!!

There are just 2 things I'd like to have in it, but it's almost perfect as it is now.

As there are:

a) a possibility to move between the created pages using finger moves (e.g. left /right- navigation) - i'm not thinking of the "real" htc-cube and its look, but your interface and swapping through the pages back and forth by just sliding my finger over the screen... i don't know if that's even possible and it would be just an optical "wow"-effect as well, but imagine how nice that would look like :-)

b) a possibility to link icons to the "settings" and "programs" folder. i know this should be possible but i haven't found the exe's, yet.

But as mentioned before it's already great as it is now!

I can't seem to launch the htcalbum (folders version) from the iPhone. The shortcut is fine but it just does nothing.

I think it's something to do with the way that htcalbum puts the 'select folder' dialogue up on the screen in a funny way - it doesn't have its own window, you need to click a folder before it will move past that screen, you can't click the cross or even press the red button to go back to the home screen.

Think you tried that already, but that's how the last "link"-lines in my working config2.txt-File look like:

Page1 ---> Link to page 1 (simple as that :-) )
Page3 ---> Link to page 3
\Windows\cprog.exe ---> Link to phone/dial-pad
\Windows\tmail.exe ---> Link to sms
\Windows\tmail.exe
\Programme\PocketMelody0.21\pocketmelody.exe

maybe the icon of your page1-link isn't in the correct place as it should be?
do you have any "blank" lines in your config2.txt?

It seems that 'netcf.cire.ppc3.arm.cab' is the trouble. In reality, before I install that file, iPhone application was working, not very good, but it was working.

If 'netcf.cire.ppc3.arm.cab' is realy the trouble, I would try to uninstall it ... but someone can tell me how do that, please ?

Dadi - it's just on the remove programs bit in the settings. Unless it's cooked into your rom but I doubt it.

actually i don't have a "config.txt" file at all.

I think your config.txt is not recognized as page1 so just try to rename it to config1.txt.

if that doesn't work, make sure that your config2.txt looks like this:

Attached a little overview of my "iphone"-folder-content and an explanation, how i got it to work on WM6 (may be of help to anyone else as well):

I don't use iconfig as it didn't work for me and in my opinion it's not needed after you get the point of customizing this app :-)

installation:

1. Download of the iPhone_1.0.zip and iPhone-1.exe located on 1st post
2. Unzip the iPhone_1.0.zip and iPhone-1.exe to any place on your Desktop-PC. Now you should have a folder "Iphone" on your Desktop-PC.
3. Connect your pocket-pc to your desktop-pc using "activesync" (xp) or "windows mobile device center" (vista)
4. In activesync now click on "explore" and wait for your "mobile Device" folder to be opened on desktop-pc's screen (hey, it's a "real" step by step guide ;-) )
5. Copy the folder "Iphone" - now including the earlier unziped iPhone.exe - to your pocket-pc, my path for example is: \storagecard
6. To start the app, navigate to your IPhone-Folder using the Data-Explorer or any other program like Total-Commander and execute the Iphone.exe. This step is done directly in your PPC and not with your DESKTOP-PC !!!

The iphone-app will start, but for now it's configurated as Grumps wants it to be :-)

But finally you should be ready to go!

Note: All editing of the config-files is done on your desktop-pc using a text-editor, e.g. "notepad".
To check the results after editing, just copy the edited config-file to your iphone-folder on your pocket-pc via activesync and overwrite the existing one.

customizing:

list of content of the iphone-folder on my herald:

icons--> contains the page 1 - icons
icons1 --> contains the page 2 - icons
icons2 --> contains the page 3 - icons

I think one folder for the icons would do it as well, as i linked some files on page 3 to the icons 1 folder, but it may be better for "clearness"-reasons. It's also possible to put your own icons in there but they have to be 42x42 in size and in bmp-format

shortcuts --> don't know what that folder is for/ haven't changed anything there :-)

files:

line 33 to line 48 = the path to the application which is started when a icon is pressed on the screen (16 lines)

every "part's" line is connected with the exact line of the other two parts "block".

It's eminent important that you use the exact line-connection of each "part" to the other "part", or your application will not launch, icons will be displayed in wrong order,"file not found"-message ,etc.
If you want some squares unused just make sure that you just leave their lines empty or type somting else like a fullstop in there but DO NOT COMPLETELY DELETE the line.

Oh well...quite a lot i wrote there now.. hope this is helpfull for anyone in here... if not... just delete my post ;-)

Yeah that's the problem I think, but when I have removed config.txt (I.e. renamed it config1), the iphone won't start (unexpected error occurred etc - required file missing).

I have used the grumps-iphone-wow package or whatever it is - perhaps the exe is different and uses different files? I have tried the original exe and it doesn't work interchangeably with the wow version, so the next try is to remove the wow one and install the 'proper' one, see if that makes a difference.

FYI: I stuck all my shortcuts for all apps into the shortcuts folder (copied from start menu) - just because some of them I have altered slightly, and also so they're there even if I rearrange the start menu. Plus there's a couple of other ones like newsms, and Bluetooth that you can use.

2 more questions :D

Thanks for the help - I think I've cracked it. I'm pretty sure the problem lies within iconfig which isn't up-to-date with the latest version of iPhone. Specifically the bottom line of the config files (BottomDockVisible=1) and the alert icons which no longer require the extra code. So now I've rolled back to the original one and got rid of iConfig, I'm home and dry, I think :D

I think it's something to do with the way that htcalbum puts the 'select folder' dialogue up on the screen in a funny way - it doesn't have its own window, you need to click a folder before it will move past that screen, you can't click the cross or even press the red button to go back to the home screen.

I'm basically having a conversation with myself, but I've just about got it sorted and I'm fully iPhone'd up now. No need for the today screen so I've got rid of all the today screen apps to save some memory.

Don't use iConfig
At least not with a trinity, not with iPhone v1. It seemed to mess things up for me and I couldn't work out the problem. I believe it actually lies in the fact that iConfig doesn't write the correct config files any more since iPhone has changed to v1. YMMV.

I thought I'd leave space for adding extra programs at a later date, but if you leave a blank space, when you press it (E.g. by accident) you get an error. I made a little shortcut file that just does nothing in the iPhone skin, so if you link to that file for the blank spaces, you won't get the error. I just used a shortcut to pword that didn't work, but it does the job. Stick this in a text doc and save it as <anything>.lnk, and copy it to the shortcuts folder in progfiles/iphone (or anywhere really), then refer to it in configx.txt 21#:MSPWORD

Re changing the volume:
I used vibra (switch) made by someone on here. Just add that as a program and use it to toggle vibrate on/off. (link) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=277811&highlight=vibra)
I also used Wisvol.exe from HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333237). This allows you change the volume and/or select vibrate/silent. I could just have used this instead of vibra but one button to toggle vibrate/ring is better IMO.

Settings
Also from that link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333237), I used control.exe to allow me to link straight to the settings panel (which you can't do otherwise). Again, from the same bundle, I used wissystem.exe to show battery/memory card status. Thanks, Veeru.

Icons
The icons included and the extra icons are great, but there's not enough of them! I made some for and converted some to the iPhone format (42x42, blackgb). Use them, if you like (attached). There are icons for opera, GPS, vibrate, Tomtom, volume, bluetooth, some arrows (I used them for prev/next page) and some ones I used for various medical apps.

Hopefully this will help someone :)

EDIT: I am still looking for a solution to the htcalbum problem I've been having.
EDIT2: HTCAlbum (folder version) will work in portrait mode, but not with the "mode:camera" suffix I was using. Never mind, I'll just have to rotate the screen in the program manually.

Finally got it to work...but some of the links don't work right. How can I edit contacts to link to poutlook.exe? I tried editing it both through config.txt and iconfig and it shows right but the link doesn't work right (to windows\poutlook.exe).

Make a shortcut to poutlook, then link to the shortcut. If you link direct to the app it doesn't always work.

File explorer: Go to \windows - highlight poutlook.exe then copy.
Go to prog files\iphone\shortcuts and 'paste shortcut'. Then link to that.

Hi guys. After reading the thread, most of you got past the netcf prob by uninstalling it. Now the problem is, I never installed that in. Well... my TyTN II is using Dutty's ROM, and comes up with that problem. could it be the netcf that's cooked right into the ROM?

I'm not sure if it's a memory drain or what it is, but I'm certainly having performance issues. Basically, the phone feels quite sluggish when iPhone is running and I couldn't put my finger on it. But it's quite apparent when I try to watch a video - the video will play fine for around 2s, then pause for half a second, then carry on. It's the same sort of thing doing simple tasks like writing an SMS or playing solitaire, quite noticeable. The problem goes away as soon as I quit the iPhone skin.

I'm gonna have to stop using it unless I can find a solution which is a bit annoying since I spent all day yesterday configuring the thing!

Any ideas? Sorry I'm not an expert in PPC and I don't know if this is a memory leak, CPU thing or something else.

Attached a little overview of my "iphone"-folder-content and an explanation, how i got it to work on WM6 (may be of help to anyone else as well):


installation:

1. Download of the iPhone_1.0.zip
2. Unzip the iPhone_1.0.zip to any place on your Desktop-PC. Now you should have a folder "Iphone" on your Desktop-PC.
3. Connect your pocket-pc to your desktop-pc using "activesync" (xp) or "windows mobile device center" (vista)
4. In activeesync now click on "explore" and wait for your "mobile Device" folder to be opened on desktop-pc's screen (hey, it's a "real" step by step guide ;-) )
5. Copy the folder "Iphone" to your pocket-pc, my path for example is: \storagecard
6. open the ppc's Iphone-folder and you should s
7. To start the app, navigate to your IPhone-Folder using the Data-Explorer or any other program like Total-Commander and execute the Iphone.exe. This step is done directly in your PPC and not with your DESKTOP-PC !!!

The iphone-app will start, but for now it's configurated as Grumps wants it to be :-)

Baut finally you should be ready to go!

Note: All editing of the config-files is done on your desktop-pc using a text-editor, e.g. "notepad".
To check the results after editing, just copy the edited config-file to your iphone-folder on your pocket-pc and overwrite the existing one.

customizing:

list of content of the iphone-folder on my herald:

icons--> contains the page 1 - icons
icons1 --> contains the page 2 - icons
icons2 --> contains the page 3 - icons

I think one folder for the icons would do it as well, as i linked some files on page 3 to the icons 1 folder, but it may be better for "clearness"-reasons. It's also possible to put your own icons in there but they have to be 42x42 in size and in bmp-format

shortcuts --> don't know what that folder is for/ haven't changed anything there :-)

But added another example just a few seconds before and it describes how to link to the camera :-) don't know if it's of any use for your edition, but you could give it a try...

btw: i'm a "noob" on this as well, but i got it to work nicely on my ppc and so i just wanted to share the way how i made it run.

so please be forebearing on any mistakes ;-)

I am still mystified by how come a link to Contacts doesn't work. The link itself works fine if I click on it from either File Explorer or Total Commander. But if I use iConfig.exe to execute that link, it says linked file not found.

Every other application I have linked to works fine (TomTom, LiveSearch, S2U2, etc. but not my Contacts....sigh).

They're basically the same as far as I can tell, except that the wow version has an installer and some extra icons.

TRjons - what program are you linking to? randomaccess.exe?
The other thing you can try is to make a shortcut file on your PPC (stick it anywhere, but the iphone\shortcuts folder seems sensible to me) and link to the shortcut file rather than to the app itself. Seems to work for most things, though I didn't actually have a problem with contacts on my device.

I am linking to Contacts.lnk in order to set up the iPhone Contacts button for use with the built in contacts application.

Clicking on the Contacts.lnk works fine so I know the link works. For some reason linking to the link fails, as does directly linking to poutlook.exe contacts.

VERY NICE APP. I am using it and it is great. Works well with S2U2 version too. My input for cometics only:

a. Can we put the operator name closer to the signal bar? This will allow room for other indicators such as Wifi and BT.
b. Can we have BT and Wifi indicator on the top bar? These two will make the SW going from COOL to WHOA!!!!!

Ive noticed some ocassional bug with this on my hermes (running t mobile uk WM5 rom with s2u2). On occasion after the phone has been in standby for a while, when i power on, the backlight doesnt light up. The screen is working fine, as is the touch and all graphics are displayed. If i exit the Iphone app then the backlight starts up, restarting the iphone app and all is fine again for a while.

Sorry cant give any more detail, but i havent been able to pin down exactly what causes it.

Hi peeps seem like you are all batteling a bit because of all the different version in this thread. Ok what ill do is ill create one file on the first post that you simply extract into \Program Files\iPhone and create a shortcut manually. Ill also attach some extra icons that i have and found in this thread. Thanx to everyone. Ill make some more shortcuts for settings etc that can be used.

The main problem with iconfig is that its not updated for version 1.0 the old version used config.txt,config2.txt,config3.txt etc where version 1.0 uses config1.txt,config2.txt etc.

Im using a custom rom with .net2 in it and all works well. I tested on .net3 and works as well on my kaiser so ther shouldnt be any issues. Its possible that the .cab installer might be the problem so ill remove it for now.

when i install iPhone apps, it asked (or rather warne me) the apps may not runproperly without net2 or something, however it seemed to be ok. The problem onl started after i installed the net2.cab, this actually stopped the iPhone apps from running period! So i removed it and itsorking again.

I do understand what you mean about the Config1 or 2 etc file, ive just been editing them with the iConfig, an then manually going into the folder to rename it so iPhones apps picks it up.

What happens if you just click on the .lnk file itself, does it run properly? I attach my .lnk file as a txt file. Just rename it and try.... Just seen that it does use the 38#, etc format. Hope this one works (it does on mine) I have added a 21# .lnk file as well. Both work.

I installed the iPhone app on my PPC-6700 and it looks great. I also installed the iContact application and the PocketMelody. Im looking for application replacements that can make my phone function more like an Iphone. Specifically im looking for replacements for the following applications:

Phone Application(in replacement of ccprog.exe)
SMS application


There are a few others but I will stop there. Also, on the standard WM5 screen it shows notification icons at the top (new SMS,new Voicemail...) I noticed that the iPhone application doesnt have these icons and I have to close the iPhone application everytime I come back to my phone to verify I didnt miss any calls, get any sms messages, or voicemails...is this possibly going to be developed into a later version?

What happens if you just click on the .lnk file itself, does it run properly? I attach my .lnk file as a txt file. Just rename it and try.
