Hello!
After reading and reading the Wiki for flashing the ROM to my Tytn II, I think I am ready. I still have a few questions ...
I have chosen to use the MicroSD card route as that seems easier to me. I just bought my Tytn a couple of days ago so I have the WM6 Professional CE-OS 5.2.1620 Build 18125.0.4.2 ROM version 1.56.413.2 Radio Version 1.27.12.11 running. It is in Swedish and I want the language to be in English. Do I have to downgrade first in order to be able to flash the WWE version ... in effect flashing twice?
Also, when I dowload and rename the ROM image I want, do I put the whole thing on the formated MicroSD card?
I have never synced my phone with my PC so that shouldn't be a problem right?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Scarlet,
Without actually answering any of your questions (sorry...), just a comment: with a Swedish TyTN II you have a Swedish keyboard also, don't you? I'm not 100 percent sure that the WWE ROM supports the Swedish keyboard layout so once you finished flashing you will have to expect issues with this...

Hi Abubasim!
You are correct, my keyboard does have åäö swedish characters. I was thinking I could flash the WWE ROM and then use the Swedish CAB to fix the keyboard mapping ... eller hur?

Hej Scarlet,
Although I haven't tried it myself, it sounds like worth a try. Check with other Swedes (or Turnips :)) in this forum or maybe even other TyTN II owners back home there in Sweden.
Yes, I understand "jag är inte saker", means literally "I am not things" if you skipped the umlaut over the a in saker on purpose :) (Jag är finsk själv, men med svenskt medborgarskap.)

Good morning!
I have written to a couple of swedes, but no help there ... boooo!
No you caught me, I missed an umlaut ... swedish is my second language, I am originally from sunny southern california;) .
I think I am going to go for it on my own. I have had this phone burning a whole in my pocket for days and I can't stand it!
Wish me luck!

Yes, good luck to you. Be careful and read the updating threads and the Wiki thoroughly before attempting. I messed up my previous phone, the i-mate JASJAM when attempting ROM flashing by using a microSD card (the phone crashed in the middle of the update and became a brick but luckily I got it repaired under warranty[!]) so I will not try this path with my new TyTN II until I see real benefit worth the risk.
BTW, you have the best profile photo I have seen on this site. Is that you?

I hear you. I gave up on the MicroSD method and am now trying to use the Kaiser CustomRUU to extract and install the nbh file. I think there is something wrong with the NBH file I am trying to you (or i did something wrong:rolleyes: ). Either way, I downloaded it and put it in the same folder as the KaiserCustomRUU program but i get a file error once I run the utility?? I am looking for a new file now to try!
Yes, that is me ... thanks for the nice words. I seem to be the only chick around that is way to into technology and cell phones ... I'm always attempting some type of shananigans:p ....
I sent you a PM by the way!

Personally I'd recommend just using the USB flash method since that's what the vast majority of us use without flaw. The overriding important thing would be to make sure you install HardSPLv1 (available from the stickies in Kaiser Upgrading) to keep from bricking your device should the flash fail for any reason.
As for the keyboard, a cab file, or Schaps Advanced Config v1.1, or a registry edit will work just fine. What you'll end up with after one of those three is your English device with a keyboard that inputs exactly what you see (Swedish characters too).
The one downside to this is the word completion...when you switch the keyboard's language you'll have to also install that languages' dictionary for word completion to work, and in your case that would mean Swedish word completion. Although It may be possible to link the English dictionary? I never tried it myself with the German Hermes I had...

Thanks so much for the suggestions guys! I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT AND GOT IT GOING!!!! Turns out I didn't unpack the ROM rar file first. I just downloaded and renamed it ... duh! Once i figured out to *unzip* the rar file using WinRAR, then I found the right file, renamed it and used the CustomRUU deal. ROM was changed along with the language in about 10 minutes. I used the CAB file also to fix my keyboard to still give me the right mapping for the swedish keyboard! I have been working on this phone for 2 LOOOONNG days and I finally figured it out.
Now I have to figure out why my internet is not working ... I'm trying to download my one free map from TOMTOM and i'm getting no love! I'll get it ... more reading to do!
Thanks so much for the support ...
Hugs and kisses!

Depending on what ROM you used its likely your settings are not proper for your provider (or do not exist at all). Personally I prefer the latter since all the "automatic" T-Mobile configurations only use the slow APN.
I recommend searching for settings for your provider and inputting them as necessary. Unless you're talking about Wi-Fi in which case you'll probably have to go under connection settings and specify that your network card connects to "The Internet" (it defaults to Work).

Thanks for the tip Quentin! I got the internet going now. My next project is my email ... i used IMAP before with push software, but looks like that is not available. I'm reading .... Are you guys using windows live to have push email functionality or just setting the phone to check every so often?

Good Evening,
I am New and Not Certain if this is venue to pose a question regarding how and where the Information regarding the Link or ?? Change My Language on my Branded HTC TyTN II (Kaiser 130 ) from German to English. The Telephone is Swiss German and I do Not Read, Speak nor Understand the Language. I was however able to Unlock the Sim in the First Stage and then do a Hard Spl V1 and everything is Excellent. But now I am having a Delima in finding a reference point to change the German to English language. Would you direct me to where I am able to go regarding the Flash Rom in English.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
You may send me an Email at frenchgq@gmail.com regarding the Info.
Have a Happy New Year !!

Sorry, I didn't read all of your post - you've already got HardSPL but I'll leave the info in to helps anyone else if they need it..
Possibly not the correct place to post the question, but it was so politely written I can't resist answering:)
Most of the roms cooked in this forum are in English language (maybe all of them except some versions of Schaps). For someone new who wants a good stable rom without having to do too many customisations I'd recommend the full versions of Dutty's latest (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355524), Schaps 4.30 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356119)or Sleuth (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347283).
Don't forget to hard SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679)before you flash any ROMS and also check which radio will work with which rom here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375). If you get stuck with HardSPL, DO NOT flash any roms until you get this sorted (rom flashing is easier than HardSPL).
Most importantly, READ, READ and READ again before trying anything until you become more familiar. Start with the WIKI (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser) which is the root of all knowledge.
Oh yes, welcome to the forum:)
