First try

Wouldn't get past the bootloader. Taking out the SD card now and trying again.

Second try

That seemed to do the trick. Rookie mistake. Sheesh.

Try going through this link:

It didn't ask for the serial there....

I successfully upgraded my unlocked [using Olipro's unlocker] Cingular 750 from the official unbranded Palm WM6 WWE ROM to this new official AT&T WM6 ROM. Only had to edit the payload.xml file to allow higher version range.

At which point is the serial number check done? I didn't see anything of that sort.

If you go through the palm page:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/treo750.html

You will be prompted to enter your serial number. There are a myriad of warnings that you will only be able to download it once and to make a copy, etc.

It worked fine for me upgrading from the unbranded WM6 rom using the executable.

Well im glad its actually out. its too bad i cant download it. It says my serial is invalid. edit: trying that link from the other thread.

Updated my Treo 750V to official AT&T WM6 ROM 2.25 using the desktop updater plus the trick posted on this site (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345531) and the results by comparison;

Original Vodafone WM6 version

Software Version - TREO750-2.18-VFU
Firmware Version - 1.47.02.00
CC-Cap - VFG-VUK-013
Carrier DB - 261

The New AT&T WM6 version

AT&T 2.25 Updater Method (Full Version)

Just finished cleaning up the AT&T stuff on the partition and this is what i've got;

AT&T 2.25 Vanilla

I removed the CapPackage and Carrier DB. Office is still present but windows live and Messenger is not. If you want them, then just place the cappackage and carrier DB of the RWE version. No AT&T crap.:D

With no CapPackage and Carrier DB, I noticed the following Carrier Bar is saying No connection. When I tried the internet, it was okay. When I tried to make a call, it gets through but when I hung up, it keeps saying call in progress. Weird? Hhhmmm Putting back carrier DB again.

there are some other settings that get modified in the cappackage you may want to keep in. I am in the process of modding the att cappackage to remove all the stupid apps, keep real player and show it in programs, proxymanager and theme, and not sure what Jaguar_RM_01 is for but ill just keep it in there. Will show live and live search, will post back with results

Maybe it's not the best place to ask, but... Do the known WM6 bugs (low-backlite) still exist in ATT?

Yesterday I just flashed my 750v from Voda to RWE...

And the most importand: does it worth?

Too early to tell. At the moment i'm reinstalling the carrier DB to see if the "No connection" & "Call in progress" glitch is the result of vanillalizing. Apart from that is responsiveness is quite impressive.;) :p :D

Also all the certificates installed are retained. (to do still: put in extrom rename and mount, i just edited the reg after the fact with sktools which i needed to restore contacts anyway)

awesome. I used your zip file, deleted the real player file. did a hard reset, now I have a ton of space. Question. do folks leave the extended rom mounted in RW mode? isn't that dangerous? is the 7 meg worth it? plus why the rename of the extended rom step?

For some reason when I did the update by SD the "Software" stayed at CHG-113, everything else updated just fine, just the Software didn't change, so I downloaded the .exe update and that finally worked, now I'm at ATT-225 :D Feels a hell of a lot more responive than the beta ATT WM6, I installed Pocket Plus 4 and now my Treo runs like it's on NOS :p

I did the Aussie WM6 update through SD, when I got home last night and that didn't change the Software either and then the funny thing is, 10 mins later I saw that the official release for ATT WM6. Of course my S/N wouldn't work for the download and when trying to use the download link posted on here, it would download but when I opened it with WINRAR, the zip file showed up as folder a named "Results" and it was empty, I couldn't extract it either. Got to work this morning, downloaded the .exe and opened it with winzip and what do you know, the correct .exe file :)

You can try the SD update first, if that doesn't work, I'm sure the .exe will work ;) Good Luck!!!

Hey guys.. I decided to try out the official ROM release this evening. Previous to this upgrade I was running one of the first WM6 Treo roms released on here (from the beginning of the summer - I think it was CNG-1.13).

Anyway, I tried to upgrade via the SD method at first and the phone froze up during the bootloader phase, so I had to use the Palm recovery tool to get my phone working again. Once I did so, I realized all of my firmware/radio/rom numbers were what they should be - so I tried to upgrade again and it basically ran the recovery tool. After that execution I was left with these settings:

CE OS 5.2.1239
Software Ver: TREO750-2.25-ATT
Hardware Ver: A
Firmware Ver: 1.12.0c.00 (I thought this was the radio - am I wrong?)
CC-Cap: ATT-ATT-031
Carrier DB: 242

So from that I have two questions - 1) Are those numbers incorrect? (I assume they are since they differ from the OPs), and 2) Since it won't let me run the upgrade tool again - to properly upgrade the firmware, are there any instructions to downgrade so it will let me try the upgrade again?

Thanks in advance!!

if you remove the real player you may want to remove the <installapp></installapp> section related to it in the capdata.xml file not sure what having a reference to a missing file does. for the extrom i show it just to install a couple of apps to that space and then hide it again, keeping it shown (it is always mounted just usally hidden) has other issues, like storing attachments on the storage card

FYI, I tried the card update but the OS version would never change from 1.13 to 2.25. I think it went through but to get that to actually show I had to do it from the computer and let the entire process complete.

I would like to share my experience with my Treo 1.13-CNG unlocoked I had bidden from ebay and use this phone in Thailand for about 5 month ago.

Before upgrade to AT&T 2.25 it had been upgrade to WM6 h3e (Aus) via miniSD method.(I previous try to install to leaked rom->Vodafone->h3e->ROW 2.23->h3e and sometime also back to WM5 :p )

I choose download SDUpdate zip file (because of I don't like to plug usb cable ) and I extract them to miniSD follow the step that explain by Palm and start upgrade but not success they said my miniSD is not Fat32 ( they wrong it alway be Fat32) so I decide to do like this.

-Press PTT+reset to force it install bootloader and then follow like the method that I used with h3e (or leaked rom) finally it work my Treo now install with AT&T 2.25 OS CE and firmware version are correct but the software version still 1.13-CNG that because of it doesn't has any process to chage this version number.

-Then I pull off miniSD and reinsert now it doesn't say about "not Fat32" again (with the same miniSD) it start to install like that it should does all the process is as the same as Palm explain finally I get WM6 with every thing as the same as it could be software version is Treo750 2.25 ATT :D

-It work like a charm and now in still work perfect without hang. I never got low backlight error again and I can use zip file and office mobile 6.1 with this rom without to install any progame to execute zip file.

-I had erase all in ExtROM then make a hard reset to make my phone to be vanilla everything still work great I very happy with this ROM (and still looking for the new one in the future may be WM6.1 or WM7  )

Hope this help someone to make upgrade via miniSD successfull

After update I have problems with CarrierDB. Most of time mu carrier bar says "No Service", but I have service and I can use it :) It even shows me [E] (I'm in edge area). Previously I had RWE and everything was fine. Now my operator is "Unknwn" in phone settings and that's why I have bad info in carrier bar.

My request is: could someone share RWE CarrierDB?

Thanks.

EDIT:
I've found solution in editing HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\Opertor Names :)

EDIT2:
Editing registry is temporary solutiona. But.... I made litle MortScript to change it to my op-name :)
Anyone else has problem with no recognizing his operator?

I used one of my scripts in MortScript to hard-set operators name on each waking up. It's good, when you're not roaming ;)

I'll make script for it and post here in few minutes. Download and install MortScript this time ;)

EDIT:
I'm attaching two versions of my script:

operator.mscr - is changing only operator's name. Edit file in any text editor, to replace "Your operator name" with real name (it has to be in quotes). Put file somewhere in storage (not card) and run (just tap, you have to have MortScript installed).

switched.mscr - changing operators name, adding info about hardware mute, blinking led on notifications. Install LedUp first! Then make edit file in any text editor, to replace "Your operator name" with real name (it has to be in quotes). Put file somewhere in storage (no card) and run (just tap, you have to have MortScript installed).

Those scripts work everytime you wake up your Treo by presing power button. That's why they aren't perfect. When you switch to another tower, operator info can disapear.

Enjoy :)

I used one of my scripts in MortScript to hard-set operators name on each waking up. It's good, when you're not roaming ;)

I'll make script for it and post here in few minutes. Download and install MortScript this time ;)

I don't mind having no operator info. My problem is that my phone is still showing "Call in progress" on the operator info area even after I hang up the the call.

I also don't like "No service" with all 5 bars...
But after powering off and on with my script, there's operator name back ;) If you like it, use it, if not, I don't know better solution.

You can use another script, called OpMon (you can find it on this forum, search the main page). It works similar, but in time intervals. I don't like background running scripts, so I'm using my switched :)

Thanks miloszz. Can you post a download link to your MortScript?

Can anyone comment on any improvements to the battery life? I gave up the Treo for this reason because I couldn't get through 8-10 hours without having to charge. My Kaiser can last overnight. I would consider returning to the Treo if the battery life is any better.

60 - 70% remaining from 6am to 10pm. Totally dependent on how you use your treo.:)

my numbers after an update:
CE OS 5.2.1620 build 18125.0.4.2
TREO750-2.25-ATT
HV: A
Firm: 1.54.27.00
CC-CAP ATT-ATT-042
Carrier DB 338

I think you have to use 3rd party apps, but I don't know which. Windows can't do that by his own :( Personaly I disconnect manualy ;)

In MortScript I can disconnect, but I have no idea how to recognize idle state of connection...

I just done with registry hack the reason that I don't want to use PhoneAlarm is that it change my profile setting.

How to do registry hack

HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\

delete or rename the SuspendResume to XXXX then Add new one as name SuspendResume and select the type to be String the value of this key set to GPRS_bye_if_device_off

and look for the other key name CacheTime (if not found add new one with type of Dword) then set it to the number of second before disconnect like this

CacheTime = 60

check for every thing right and then make a soft reset after if reboot go to turn on GPRS like check your mail and after the download mail complete and wait for 60 second it auto disconncet GPRS.

I wonder it work I notice I has been make this before but it doesn't work so I decide to rename the key SuspendResume and make a new one and now I very happy with this registry hack on my Treo750

k101d.
PS: finally
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\SuspendResume=G PRS_bye_if_device_off
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\CacheTime=60

I can't believe the dialer and comm manager are still the same from WM5. it looks so ugly.

Has anyone been able to use a new skin on the 750 for dialer or comm manager?

I just tried the htc dialer and it didnt change.

Also i made sure and changed the the registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\phone\skin]
Enabled=0

but still no go.

Using MemMaid or SKTools disable today plugin called "Active Call".
Then you'll have access to windows, not palm, dialer, but some more things will change...

hey thanks for the reply.

Hmm so im guessing by doing this i disable that program on the today screen that can look up numbers?

If that goes i know i will lose the green and red button functionality.

I will try it and see what happens, dont have anyo of those programs installed so I will have to find them and go from there.

You don't have to remove dial-lookup. After changes, with green button you bring up keypad, with red you send Treo to sleep. But you have to use onscreen button to end call, because red button doesn't work then...

This was one of my pet peeves and a major drain on the battery.

Worked perfect - Merry Christmas!

For whatever reason the first two seem to get stuck in the boot-loader and I had to use the Palm recovery tool.
