Similar specs, with few differences with pros and cons, BUT whats your choice and why?
I like kaiser. Elegant, bit bulky but decent. Excellent keyboard and tilt screen just look very sexy in your hand or on the table. I have installed HTC Cube and new HTC Album, so it is working as Touch. Not sure if there is anyhting which I want and exists in polaris but not in TyTn II.
 POLARIS or KAISER .....

Am also torn between the two  I sold my Kaiser last weekend abroad and wanting to buy a replacement. The long wait for polaris may even send me into the iMate ultimate den

The decision is very easy. If you need a keyboard as your typing the whole day, go for the kaiser. If you need something light and handy get the cruise. The 200g weight of the Kaiser is no joke, you feel it pulling in every pocket. Just try to carry around two 100g bars of chocolate the whole day. 50g less with the Polaris is a tremendous difference. I gave back my Kaiser because of this.

Polaris, because of the sunlight readable screen.
(But subject to seeing the actual device first!)

Kaiser has a keyboard that can also tilt...that is fragile!!! I can't imagine with all the vibration of the car while the tytn2 is attached to the car consolle.
Go for Polaris of course.

Polaris is my choice.....
- best case
- hardest display
- better design
- compact size

Polaris. Better screen than Kaiser, I think, without the weight, bulk and the 'formal' look.

Apart that Kaiser is ugly, big, thick and heavy everything seems to be ok. Not a match for polaris but ofcourse I don’t need or want a keyboard

Each year has his own dilemma:
Wizard / Prophet
TyTn / Trinity
Kaiser / Polaris
What will be the next? :D

Over the last years I never owned a device with a keyboard and I don't need a keyboard on my 'phone' either.
So my choice was easy, Polaris! :) I also happen to like the looks more and the fact it's less bulky is also a major pro in my eyes.
On the other hand the Kaiser is a very nice device and I guess if you need to do a lot of typing on the device that one would have a major advantage because of the keyboard.
Just the way you look at it, the lack of keyboard is very important to me in a positive way. For others it's very important in a negative way. (negative as in: not in favour of Polaris).

Does anyone know if the polaris has the same lack of drivers that cripples the kaisers video playback?
I'm also stuck between the 2, currently have hermes + love it

I'm a current Artemis user and the wheel is a godsend!! I would definitely go for the Polaris (and pass the Artemis to my wife.. hehe)
Also, I don't need a keyboard and I kinda like the idea of flushed screen.
Most users should be able to decide between the 2 depending on their keyboard requirement..
Anyways, why so some of ya say the Polaris has a better screen? Can elaborate?
Thanks

I am not sure if it is lack of drivers problem but there will be no difference in this issue bettwen Polaris kai Kaiser.

pretty sure i read somewhere that the polaris has different hardware that makes the touchflo stuff work better on it. but im not 100%

The Polaris screen will be the same as Touch. Compare the screen between Touch and Kaiser and you will figure out the answer by yourself! ;)

The hardware is the same. The software is different (because it is a touch PPC). TouchFlo and Cube will work better because of the different screen, not the hardware inside tha device.

I too have heard the screen is different for the Touch/Cruise. How is it different? Can some ellaborate on the technical details and how they traslate to making the TouchFlo work better?
After using the TouchFlo features on the Kaiser/Tilt, I am not impressed. Quirky to the point that it is not even usable. I find it to be a novelty at best and too prone to swipes being "interpreted" as taps.
So how does the Cruise improve on this?

touchflo + cube weren't meant to be used on kaiser, as far as i know its just been hacked. Thats why it seems buggy/unuseable. But the cruise hardware has been designed with touchflo in mind to make sure the 2 work well together

The cube was not included, TouchFlo is. Basically, it allows you to use a finger gesture to scroll. This is the feature I am talking about. It works, but it is very quirky as I said. After trying it 6 or 8 times, I just gave up. IMO, they should have just left it out.
So my question still stands. What is it specifically that makes the TouchFlo work better on the Touch than the Kaiser. If it is software only, I have no confidence the experience will be drastically better as it needs to be for the feature to actually be usable.
I hate to use the iPhone comparison, because people get all up in arms about it, but the touch usability on the iPhone vs the Kaiser are WORLDS apart. In this case, I know for sure there are hardware differences in the screens. So I guess another way to ask the question is... "Does the Touch use similar technology?"

i believe the touch screen sensitivy on kaiser can be set so touchflo works better. as far as i know the polaris has a different digitzer like the touch bc of the cube so the scrolling and everything is much smoother.

Cruise is aimed at mainstream consumers while the Kaiser is more business-oriented or for those who utilize much of the online messaging features of their service providers. The bulkiness of Kaiser compared to Cruise easily comes from the QWERTY keyboard mechanism alone, but I can't imagine someone who replies to a lot of text/e-mail messages on-the-go tapping on the screen with a stylus all day.
I found out about the Cruise on the same day I ordered my Kaiser. Went ahead with my purchase just so that I can have everything (power, function, keyboard + bulkiness), even though I've only slid the keyboard out less than 10 times in the first month with it. :D

Been down that road. Helps a little, but not enough.

This would be key. Particularly if you want to use a soft keyboard with your fingers. Not only is the TouchFlo scrolling worthless on the Tilt, but even trying to dial a phone number is aggravating. It's almost as if there is a dleayed reaction. My wife tried to dial a number yesterday, and kept misdialiing. There's even a UTube video form one of the Kaiser members who has gotten the cube to work on the Kaiser, and you can see him struggling to get the screen to repond. Sometime he has to try the gesture 3 times for it to work. Sorry, but I am not ready to pay $500++ for something that works every 3rd time.
But this has been the case with every WM phone I have owned starting with the iPaq 6315. My guess it that the screen is not made to work equally well with a stylis and with fingers, due to the drastic different in contact points and pressure per square inch (millimeter). If the Polaris can be more responsive to fingers and finger gestures, it would make a huge difference.

I'd love to know how people are getting on with the touch keypad vs. physical keys, most reviews don't mention that at all

Thanks, good to know. I tried touchpal (free version) with my wizard, and while I was ok with it, it wasn't as fast as the full keyboard. But, I'm sick of the weight & size, so I'll learn to live with a touch keypad...
