View Full Version : WM6 - PIE Line Scrolling?

I am looking for something simple but I am unable to find it.

I have upgraded to WM6 and I want PIE to scroll by line.

That's it.

PIEPLUS 2.2 used to work on WM5 but scrolling behavior is broken on WM6 - now it always scrolls by link ("Like IE").

MULTIIE 4.0 doesn't do it either.

I have tried Picsel and Opera but they have their own shortcomings.

The human brain isn't designed for page scrolling - we need nice smooth incremental scrolling. At least my brain isn't.

Help someone?

Search forum for thread about customizing PIE "KEYS". Relatively simple registry edits or there are tools that will set them up for you.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately these keys just provide for link and page scrolling. Line scrolling with the D-pad means that when you have a screen of text it will always scroll a predictable number of lines, regardless of links on the page.

OK, solved my own problem.

Smooth scrolling (including with finger like iPhone), full page view with zoom in (like Deepfish), full javascript support (unlike Deepfish), nice reformat for one column (unlike PIE).

Full screen too (press the * key).

Which browser? Opera Mini 4 (again) but with a different Java VM this time (allows softkey support, full screen and copy/paste) and now I have exactly the browsing experience I was looking for. Even on a Treo 240x240 screen.

Best of all ... it's free.

yep, very nice browser. Been using v4 since it was released. Esmertec Java works the best for me (looks like that's what you went with too).

TIP: Exclude the java executable from your touch software since it already supports finger scrolling. Allows it to work a little more smoothly IMO.

Yes, Esmertec Java made all the difference. The previous JVM I was using was slow, didn't use the top and bottom of the screen since the WM6 menu bars were always on and cut and paste didn't work.

I have got a direct link shortcut set up, it launches as the default browser for email links and it no longer security prompts for net access. I'm happy.

I have tried all the alternatives (Picsel, PIEplus, Thunderhawk etc) and I have finally found the one that works for me. Anyone still using PIE should give this free browser a try (with Esmertec), it's really nice.

How can I get rid of the security warning and make Opera mini my default browser?

And how do I exclude the touch stuff?

Thanks

this thread has the instructions I used for setting default, disabling security warnings and one click launch ...
