convert all the animation pics to bmp, edit in the blue, and convert back to brn

I'm assuming that was directed to my question? I've already done that....the thing is, BEFORE A01 ever begins to display, there is a "fade" from whatever is on the screen to the cube animation. It's actually like a cross fade through black to the animation. Since I've set up my anims to have the same background as my today screen background, I'd ideally like to simply "cut" to the .brns rather than fade...or, if it must fade, I'd rather use a blue hue instead of the black.

If memory serves, the original A01 (or whatever the first anim in the sequence is...it's been a while since I made them) isn't actually the full 240x320...it's something like 1/4 the size. All of my brns are 240x320 - and include the blue background from my today screen. So, ideally, I'd like to see all the items on my today screen just disappear and then have my brns fade the cube in from a blank blue background. If I can turn off the dang cross fade it will work.

Any idears?

Following your suggestion, I successfully removed the QuickDial side and substituted another CustAppLauncher page. So now I have three pages of icons, and for the time being I'm keeping the Media Hub page. It was very helpful to have your registry to look at--thanks for sharing.

The iCube so rocks.

I vacillate between using the cube for my apps or something like iLauncher or PocketPlus. ALL are memory hogs, but each offers some "extras" (well...the cube really only adds the "cool factor" - but SBSH and SPB have added enough to their apps to give additional usability).

With that said, I'd almost rather have a 4 sided QuickDial cube and keeps my app launcher on the today screen. I usually need to make calls in the car to a very specfic set of customers and/or personal contacts and given that the PPC isn't the greatest phone interface in the world, a 4 sided Quickdialer could make things very easy in the car...

Has anyone succeed in this? Could I use the same approach you're using for the ApLauncher and place Qdailers? Or are there issues that keep multiple Qdialers from working?

BTW - Totally agree with you Dan...I take so much away from this site that it's incredible. It's sort of like being able to plug your brain directly in to a matrix. I only wish I knew enough to give back...

Maybe what appears to be the 4th side going by too fast is just the animation between sides? I experienced that at one point; it can be confusing. Exactly which sides *are* you seeing? Do you still have the Media side? QuickDial? How many icon sides?

That is exactly what is happening. I have exactly the same thing happening. It is because custaplauncher is not being launched. This can usually be attributed to one of 2 reasons: either it doesn't exist where it should be (\windows\custlauncher.exe) or it starts to run and bombs out (as in my case) because it doesn't pass the hardware check. I am still waiting for someone (Xplode or JasonStern did the modifications of Quickdial and mediahubmini) to neutralize the hardware check so custaplauncher will run on any hardware.

The install the programm directly over the old one. So try the normal finger tips to show the cube. The new one should appear then.

After installing the cab i could open the new icube. But the site where the commmanager etc. is is still the old one! :confused: Only the one with sprint tv (which i don´t have) and the favorite contacs changed...

Hi, I've installed the 6 sided cube, and edited the reg copying the width etc and the background into the 1st app. Linked to different Brn's but cant get any icons to show on any of the 4 pages even the origional aplauncher page are missing.

I try to change some icons by registry edit, some icons function and other one dont. In the second page of cube, it's impossible. The name of icons change but not the icons. I use the file icons3 et 2 in this tread. If i use touch settings, i'm unable to change all the icons and programs, same thing four HTC touch customiser.

tazlap--read post #237 in this thread. A "background" reg key needs to exist for each AppLauncher in the registry. You can copy that key from one of the other AppLaunchers. Then reset and icon changes should take effect.

Uninstalling didn't work, it did not change back the registries for whatever reason.
I ended up doing a hard reset which I don't like to do for obvious reasons.

Hopefully someone can help me out to tell me why it would not uninstall for me in case I install in the future again.

I'm new here...and I installed it on my Sprint HTC touch like I wasn't suppose to...BUT..it works fine :)...Now my only problem is I can't seem to get excel or word working...I've tried everything with the reg edit and I can't seem to fix it..I've changed everything else the way I want it but those two just won't work for some reason...Is it the file extension or is there a trick to the path..Any info would be greatly appreciated..

Alright, looking at your registry you need to edit a few things.

1) Create the Key "Background" in the HKLM>Software>HTC>Biotouch>APLauncher folder and give it a valid .brn value

2) All IconPath and IconPressPath need to be .brn, not .bmp

Do those two things and you'll be golden.

Alright, lots of question have been asked, so here come the answers.

This may help most of you. The iCube is NOT a program. It is a skin for the HTC Touch Cube. If you do not already have the HTC Touch Cube Built in to your device, then this will do nothing for you.

Second, this was made for and tested on ONLY the Sprint Touch, which is the HTC Vogue. The GSM Touch has a different Cube entirely and calls on different images for it to work. If someone would like to send me their registry entries for the GSM Touch I wouldn't mind taking a look at it to see if it would be possible to port over to the HTC Touch, but for now this is only confirmed working on the Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue).

Thirdly, yes, this must be installed to the device. Basically what the CAB does is create and change registry entries as well as put files into the main memory. The registry makes calls to the main memory, so if the files are not there it will error out. I'll look into making an install to card version, but I would need to know what the device calls the card (ie Storage Card, Card, memory, Speicherkarte, etc.).

On another note, I have heard a rumor that a program to install the HTC Cube on non-Cube devices may be coming out shortly, and that it will be compatible with this skin and others available for the Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue).

If you'll look at the very first post (ie. the person who created this thread) you'll see it was not me but Zyphlin.

He was confused (as were most people at the time) about the whole HTC Touch vs. Sprint Touch.

I tried to rectify the situation, but the thread had already gotten a lot of attention. I created a thread in the Vogue forum, but at the time there were only 3 people who were on that forum, so the thread got pushed to the bottom, while this one stayed on top.

So, we came up with a solution for HTC Touch owners as well that you can find in this thread (post 4 I believe).

Ne'ermind... I finally got it working!!! woohoooooo!!!!! omg... it's nnniiiice....

Customized it by using thisguyinoc's cubeconfig 4.1... customized it further by using regedit...

For now, this is it... I feel like am the envy of all my friends who are stuck with their iphones... hahaha they can't even change ringtones

ONCE AGAIN, HTC TOUCH ONLY! NOT TOUCH DUAL, NOT SPRINT TOUCH, HTC GSM TOUCH ONLY!

Now that that's out of the way,

Okay, this is just for verification. Do only at your own risk (life and limb and all that).

Please manually install the "Files4GSM" into your Windows Directory. I find that Total Commander (http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab) works well.

Then install the iCube.cab found here in this post.

WARNING! THIS (IF DONE CORRECTLY) WILL REPLACE APLauncher.exe, Biotouch.exe, and add CustAPLauncher.

This should upgrade your device to a more recent version of these apps, allowing you to customize your cube to have more than 3 sides, and more than 6 buttons.....theoretically.

I tried a cab that did this earlier (Experiemental) and thought, I wonder if Windows just won't allow a CAB to replace a system program. So, give this a try and report back.

If this does not work I'll give it one more shot for a 4th side, but may end up just keeping it 3 and releasing a 3 sided, 6 button version for you GSM Touch users.

Make sure you've got around 9 MBs of free space on your device for this installation.

I'd love to get updates or an upgrade for the icube...this is a very nice interface...

But other than that, I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a new look for their HTC Touch...there's this guy in the office who beat me to the punch in getting an HTC Touch, and he never did let me hear the end of it... until he saw my device and realized he had an Elf and I had an Elfin...then he saw my iCube...and then he realized that I was just better at everything than he was...that was it for him...he was gonna stick his head in the toilet for being such a dumbass but I stopped him LOL :D

Have you tried pulling up the cube?

Make sure you install the mediahubmini to your device...better yet, install EVERYTHING in your device. Install it from the device itself. Drag the files to your storage card from your PC. Then once it's in your storage card, you have to install it FROM your device. Tap the icon on your device and it's going to prompt you to install it either on the device or the storage card. Choose DEVICE.

I just upgraded my ROM to 6.1 and iCube no longer works except for the speed dialer side. The other sides don't properly display any graphics anymore, although if you can guess right the button presses still work :D

Anyway, has anyone else noticed this problem? Has anyone worked around it? Are we going to have to wait for the fantabulous Musicman to create a new skin? Or should I just take the dive on the new cube application he's working on?

yes...i haven't had any problems. so far... :D

What you do is you back up your data first...use Sprite Backup or some other backup application. That way, when you DO get in trouble, all you need to do is restore your data, then you're good to go.

Remember, if space is not a problem, install everything in your device. make sure you install mediahubmini first, then install the cube. Afterwards, install the cube configuration tool (thisguyinoc's cube configure). That's a separate tool, by the way. Just search for it here.

Hello everyone,

This is my first post but love this forum. I have learned so much in just two small weeks. I am a newbie but I found a fix for my Sprint Touch with the new 6.1 ROM that is working perfectly for my iCube. So far I have no issues except for launching iContacts from the dial page (that seems to lock up my cube, but this also locked up my stock cube so it is something with iContacts).

What I did was really rather simple and if you dont mind writing over your APLauncher.exe, Biotouch.exe, CustAPLauncher.exe, and MediaHubMini.exe then hopefully this will work. Please back up all your .exe files as I did for safety.

I simply copied the supplied files4gsm files on post #1 to my Windows directory and overwrote the existing files. I have iCubev1_11 installed so all icon paths point to My Documents\iCube directory.

That was all that was to it and the cube is working like a charm.

where is "MediaHubMini.exe" there only seem to be the other 3 files in the gsm zip? I cannot get this to work, its just a big mess. I had it pre 6.1 and really liked it. Any thoughts-I tried the above suggestion?

OOPs !! just got "total commander" again, needed it for BlueAngel (rom/fTouchFlo/other), got "files4gsm" - got "iCubeV1.11" <installed all on storage card ( if asked!)
