Introducing the iCube

I'm very happy to present the custom cube skin dreamt up and created by Musicman247 and myself…the iCube. Inspired by the user interface of the iPhone while understanding the amazingly small size of the Touch, the iCube interface blends both together to form a unique “cube” skin is both aesthetically and functionally pleasing.

Through modifications to the TouchFlo Cube made by Musicman247 the iCube utilizes a 4 line by 3 column format of icons and “4th Wall” for its launchers. This format provides slightly larger, more finger friendly icons than standard iPhone interfaces while at the same time providing a greater number of shortcuts than a standard 6 cube or Music’s original 8-icon cube mod. The use of a “chalkboard” icon set furthers the effort to give the iCube its own personality while the “flush” animation used for exiting/opening and shifting the cube gives homage to the iCube’s inspiration.

Currently, release 1.0 which should be out within the next few days, will feature a “stock” launcher as the “4th” wall, with each icon connecting to a stock HTC program. The second application launcher, the Custom Launcher, will be able to be edited using registry edits, as will the Media Launcher page. It will also feature the skinned Media and Contacts pages.

We will continue work on the iCube in coming weeks to make it more feature rich and user friendly. We currently have a wide range of ideas so definitely stay tuned for updates.

Finally, major thanks to Musicman247 who is truly the mind behind the iCube’s programming and creation. If not for his talents this would’ve never been more than a wild idea kicking through my mind. Huge props goes out to him.

Edit 12-11-2007:Version 1.10 is now up. This includes the previous bug fix, plus adds the ability to change your icons on the 4th side through registry edits. This also allows the icon "blink animation" on the fourth side. BIG thanks to Kona_Mtbkr for making this possible! No un-install needed before installing this version.

Edit 12-10-2007: Version 1.01 is up. This fixes the bug where the File Explorer button would not work. you will find it attached to this post.

Edit: Icon pack is now up. All of these icons are already installed in the \My Documents\iCube\Icons directory, but I figured you'd like your own shot at them. Here they are, all 34 of them in BMP format, including a carbon fiber background so you can change the bottom icons as well.

here is a list of all icons included with the iCube CAB (no extra install needed, they're already there!). These are their acutal names, just add .brn after them, and _HL.brn for the highlighted versions. You'll also find the "hub" icons in there as well.

Hi, quick question. To install this all I need to do is load the CAB onto the phone correct? I was reading all about the customization stuff and going in and deleting specific files (which I wasnt able to do) and all that stuff. I'd love to change some stuff on my cube but it seemed sort of complicated and just never took the time to sit down. Wondering if this will be a bit easier or will I have to do the same steps described in the customization thread.

Just installed it and it looks great! couple questions. How do I set the buttons to go to places I want.. like Sprint TV (which I dont have) to go somewhere else.. back to the preset videos and other buttons too. How do I get into the registry to change these?

Also, in the slide 2 unlock program how can I change the background to match my background on my phone. I read it somewhere before but I cant seem to find it. I did check around so.. any help would be appretiated.

The install the programm directly over the old one. So try the normal finger tips to show the cube. The new one should appear then.

Tried it on the HTC Touch Dual and it didnt work???? Installed fine and seemed to run but the transition didnt work and the icons were missing and it appeared that most of the graphics were mis-aligned.... Sigh.... still waiting for a Touch Dual Forum but will keep trying "other" stuff in the mean time..

It cant install it on my HTC Touch :(
I get a error message that my memory is low and then it says it couldnt be installed :S
I try to install it on my SD card which has 300 mb free memory to use so cant imagine why it does not !

When you say free up memory do you mean storage as the only 2 things left are the Tcpmp and fullscreen kbd which dont look like they will free up enough anyway. How has everyone else managed. Is it possible to install on card? Has anyone else managed to install it with other stuff still installed?

This looks really cool. I tried to install it on my T-Mobile HTC Wing. It says it installed but after reboot it doesn't appear anywhere. There is two files it creates Anim and Icons. My storage memory goes from 30 all the way down to 11. Takes a huge block of memory. There is no way to launch the app. ???? anyway I tried.

The Slide2Unlock Pro is excellent!!!! Thanks for that anyway.

Also Microsoft Money 2006 does Not work.

Remember, this has only been tried on an HTC Touch. Its meant for PPC's that already have the HTC TouchFlo Cube. We do not know if it works with fTouchFlo yet.

To my knowledge, yes, it must be installed on the device, not on a card.

Lox, Music had the same problem. He ended up having to hard reset to clear everything out to test, and it worked. His theory is that if there are ANY OTHER CUBE HACKS previously installed...4th wall, new animations, new background, etc...that it seems to have some issues. My best advise is to remove everything off your Touch that has to do with the cube, THEN install the cab. I'll see if I can get music to peak over at this thread and give some insight. The same goes to everyone else having issues with the cube's icons not showing up everywhere. DELETE ALL OTHER CUBE MODIFICATIONS BEFORE INSTALLING.

We are also hoping to have a readme out soon with information about what parts of the registry to edit and how to do it so you can put in your own icons or your own links. In the future we're hoping to have a program that will streamline the customization process.

Alright, lots of question have been asked, so here come the answers.

This may help most of you. The iCube is NOT a program. It is a skin for the HTC Touch Cube. If you do not already have the HTC Touch Cube Built in to your device, then this will do nothing for you.

Second, this was made for and tested on ONLY the Sprint Touch, which is the HTC Vogue. The GSM Touch has a different Cube entirely and calls on different images for it to work. If someone would like to send me their registry entries for the GSM Touch I wouldn't mind taking a look at it to see if it would be possible to port over to the HTC Touch, but for now this is only confirmed working on the Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue).

Thirdly, yes, this must be installed to the device. Basically what the CAB does is create and change registry entries as well as put files into the main memory. The registry makes calls to the main memory, so if the files are not there it will error out. I'll look into making an install to card version, but I would need to know what the device calls the card (ie Storage Card, Card, memory, Speicherkarte, etc.).

On another note, I have heard a rumor that a program to install the HTC Cube on non-Cube devices may be coming out shortly, and that it will be compatible with this skin and others available for the Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue).

... I just tried this on the Prophet running from my storage card. It all loaded up fine, or so it seemed. The AppLauncher screen is fubar, and since I'm in Germany and have no sprint tv, this is as good as useless. Nice graphics and idea, but for me it just isn't practical / doesn't work. (a) (first time slide-up to launch biotouch) > slide sideway to see the CustAPLauncher side > slide-down > see the animation of hiding the side (i.e. the correct .brn in corresponding Path* are displayed) > CustAPLancher is still visible!

(b) (continue from (a)) use hardware key to go back to Today screen > slide up to launch Biotouch > slide sideway to the CustAPLauncher side > the side appears in a flash then covered by the client area of the Today screen (i.e. only the top Start bar area and bottom shortcut bottoms area is not covered by the Today screen)

any clue on above? :confused:
one thing I observed is, APLauncher.exe is up and run at background upon system bootup but not for CustAPLauncher.exe. is it expected that CustAPLauncher.exe must be up before Biotouch.exe?

Thanks, that could be possible. So i can´t try the program, because i´ve got the touch enhanced and a rom cooked by swiftblade. So i don´t know what is changed in cube by swiftblade. A hard reset will not bring any changes...

Could you export your registry settings for HKLM>Software>HTC>Biotouch? It would help in finding out what the conflict is. Thanks.

An existing cube installation would mean that your device would have the Cube even after a Hard Reset. It means it's in ROM, not a program installed.

Yeah, I've figured out what's going on. The File Explorer button (App4 in the registry) is the IM program on the stock cube. In the registry it has a Param setting of -service "SMS" which would not make sense when calling the File Explorer program. I didn't specify a Param entry in App4, so it was still there.

I'll post V1.01 on the 4th post. Install it over your current installation (no un-install necessary) and it should fix it.

Edit: Version 1.01 is up on Post #4. This fixes the bug where the File Explorer button would not work.

finally i found the problem source of my manual trial - wrong window class name used in the "App4" key. so far no screen refreshing problem in the 2 app launcher sides.

will post the correct reg file tonight when i'm back home, so that you can consider a compiled back for Touch Dual. due to different versions of the cube components in Sprint Touch vs Touch Dual, i guess we need a separate cab.

to avoid confusion, i'll post to the Nike forum and add a link here then.

ah no. just my stupid mistake.
i previously set "App4" = "CustAPLauncher \\Windows\\CustAPLauncher.exe"
which make biotouch.exe unable to get the window handle of CustAPLauncher.exe

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble getting word and excel to work. I get the error that says, (The file " cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.) I did try re-installing. Is there something else I can do to make this work. It isn't a really big deal but I love the cube and want all the icons to work. Thanks and Kudos to everyone that writes these programs. I do well to install the cabs without messing up the phone so I really appreciate all your efforts! :D

Here are the iCube Animation brns. They are for a 4 sided cube, so if you only have 3 sides, rename the D's to C's and it will look okay.

Don't know about the Today screen bars. I think WM6 does that automatically.

I have been following this thread with a keen eye as what you are developing looks extremely interesting. I have just installed this on my HTC TyTN (Hermes) and...........it works! I'm not sure whether this was expected or not but there you go.

I have a couple of issues where individual programmes don't run (I guess that's because I don't have them loaded up). One item that definitely does not work is the screen lock (ah, just figured out why, I need S2U Pro).

I guess the only way to alter the behaviour of the cube is using registry edits (post 34) or do we now have a configuration tool available (ok, we are awaiting thisguy to sort). One of the things I want to do is to change the music player for one of my choice.

I will continue to test and let you know how I get on.

Alrgiht, by looking at your registry I've figured out what's going on with the GSM Touch. I'll put it here in case someone else needs a starting point.

Rotate animations are only 4 frames long (ie A0.brn, A1.brn, A3.brn, A5.brn)

Up/Down animations are only 3 frames long (A0.brn, A01.brn, A02.brn)

APLauncher.exe icons are all .png
APLauncher is hard coded to only have 6 buttons

MiniMediaHub.exe icons are all .brn

CustAPLauncher icons are all .brn
CustApLauncher seems that it might be able to have more than 6 buttons

Sorry I haven't responded, I got caught up trying to make this work with the GSM Touch and your post got buried at the bottom of the last screen!

Wow! I was not expecting it to work with the HTC TyTN. I didn't even know the TyTN came with a Cube.

As for your issues:

1) This is a known flaw with S2U. So you're saying that when system lock is on and S2U comes up you can still unlock your phone with S2U?

2) Size can be fixed by deleting icons you don't use. Depending on which CAB you used the icons will be in either \Windows or \My Documents\iCube\Icons. Right now the skin installs 92 icons at 18.8k each, so there's 2.5 MB right there.

The majority of the space is taken up by the Animations, which weigh in at almost 7MB. There are 11 frames of animation for each side of the Cube, 4 sides at 150k each. I can reduce the frames in the animations in future versions and call it the low-memory CAB.

Thank you for your input! It really helps to know what other people want and need. I have the Sprint Touch, which has 256MB of internal memory, so 9MB doesn't seem like much, but for other devices I guess I need to cut back. :-)

But i must say i already tried one of your erliers cubes, and the main problem back then was that i could see the 4th side when the animation was there but the 4the side never showed up. Don't think that that would be any usefull to you but hey every bit of info could help

I think the problem is that so many people have different ROMs installed that some may be running versions of Biotouch that have completely different registry values.

Could someone with a stock GSM Touch please upload their registry? The last one that was uploaded had CustAPLauncher already called in their Biotouch directory, even though CustAPLauncher is not on the stock GSM Touch.

So, yeah, that's my rant. Sorry. Stock GSM Touch (not Touch Dual, not Vogue, not something else that kinda looks like a Touch) Registry would help greatly, I think.

Thanks for your response. I understand how busy you are so no worries. To take each of your questions in turn:

a) Cube on a TyTN - no the TyTn does not come with a built in cube; however there are a fair few of us who have been using Kona's cube. I loaded your stuff across it and hey presto, we were up and running. Superb colours, textures and animations but a high price to pay in terms of memory usage on the TyTn at least. I will look to reduce the number of icons on the PDA; however your suggestion of a "low memory" option is a good one that I, and many TyTN owners, would be happy to take you up on!

What I am surprised at is that Kona's cube is a 3 sided beast, your skin is for a 4 sided cube and yet it worked fine.


1) S2U Pro - What I am saying is that with S2U Pro lock on you can still initialise the cube WITHOUT taking the pro lock off, which is a bug. However if you use the standard system lock on the TyTN rather than S2U pro you don't get this problem. Strange. I think Kona was aware of this problem and has sorted it out on his cube.

Do keep up the good work. This is exciting stuff and much appreciated.

Both sides have the buttons aranged like this:

After the reboot just open up you cube it should be changed to the icube.

Took the plunge and tested this on my TyTN (Hermes). Only got 3 sides loaded. The 4th side never came up.

No change to background either. The side with email, ie, etc did not show up any icons at all.

Hope this helps you to pinpoint what's gone wrong.

To summarise, the file that has worked for me on the TyTN straight out the box was your GSMExperiment file that I commented on.

If this does not work I'll give it one more shot for a 4th side, but may end up just keeping it 3 and releasing a 3 sided, 6 button version for you GSM Touch users.

Make sure you've got around 9 MBs of free space on your device for this installation.

If this does not work I'll give it one more shot for a 4th side, but may end up just keeping it 3 and releasing a 3 sided, 6 button version for you GSM Touch users.

Make sure you've got around 9 MBs of free space on your device for this installation.

With the cube now looking so lovely do you think there is a way to make it "sticky" i.e. make it always active. At the moment if you launch an application then quit it you have to reactivate the cube (same as the standard one) Wouldn'y it be great to have the cube as the gui?

I've been following your progress with iCube - congratulations! You've got it working on a GSM Touch. I simply installed the 1.11 CAB, made copies of the original versions of ApLauncher.exe and BioTouch.exe and then copied the contents of Files4GSM.zip into the Windows directory on the Touch. That's it - it works.

As others have mentioned, not all of the links point to actual programs, but that is easily fixed by editing the registry entries. (If I'd ever done any CE programming I'd write a configuration tool - but I haven't...)

One thing still doesn't work properly: The Media Hub still shows its hard-coded behavior (obviously, since it's still the original version). I plan to download a patched version that I saw somewhere last night and try that - anyone already done that?

Your a genius :D it works on the GSM touch now. There is only one small thing. when you slide to the mediahub for a split second you will see the three buttons all with "icube" in them but that's nog a big problem.


Now i will be on my way to find some "editors tools" because of my personal tast i don't like the looks of the icube. But once again :bow: you did a great job pulling this off.

None of these versions of biotouch,aplauncher and custaplauncher work on the BA. I suspect that it is the old problem of hardware checking. I am presently using Xplode's cab rollup of ftouchflo/cube/control and all funtions work properly. Would it be possible to look at the version of biotouch and aplauncher in his cab and make the necessary modifications? The changes were made by JasonStern so he may be able to point you in the right direction.

From what I understand, some of the HTC utility executables have a "model test" built into them and will not run on older HTC models. Yeah mine is working great, well some shortcuts don't work but i don't find that a bug. Did you install on your phone or on your memory?

That's the only thing i can think up at the spot.

btw i do have the feeling, the cube takes longer to load after a softreset but when it's loaded it works like a charm

I think i found a bug/ limitation (or maybe it was/ is the same with the normal cube)

The cube stays up when i press the powerbutton to "lock" my touch

If my memory serves me right the standard cube dissapeared.

I'm finding the staying of the cube usefull, but i think some people may find it annoying.

Re-Mi, this has to do with the updated Biotouch App. This is normal behavior for this version of the Cube.

So, the choice is up to the user: have the cube up even after pressing the power button, or go back to the 3 sided standard cube.

Good observation, though. I didn't know that the older Biotouch Cube would go down.

@appoos: I tried to create a CAB that would put the new programs in, but people were getting permission errors, so now they have to be put in manually.

@davehutch: YEs, CustAPLauncher.exe is a new App to the GSM Touch, but still made by HTC. The 4th side uses it. I do not have any experience with the GSM Touch, but on the Sprint Touch (Vogue) the files will remain changed even after a soft reset. The reason I'm asking you to back up is because these files are different versions. You may not like these new versions, and since you are putting them in the \Windows directory before installing the cab, an uninstall will not restore the previous versions. It would have to be done manually.

@motisu: I have not had time to do much these past couple of weeks. I didn't even do anything special for the GSM version (it's the Sprint version with the Sprint .exes to install). I will take a look at this and check with the source you mentioned earlier.

Remember, this has only been tried on an HTC Touch. Its meant for PPC's that already have the HTC TouchFlo Cube. We do not know if it works with fTouchFlo yet.

To my knowledge, yes, it must be installed on the device, not on a card.

Lox, Music had the same problem. He ended up having to hard reset to clear everything out to test, and it worked. His theory is that if there are ANY OTHER CUBE HACKS previously installed...4th wall, new animations, new background, etc...that it seems to have some issues. My best advise is to remove everything off your Touch that has to do with the cube, THEN install the cab. I'll see if I can get music to peak over at this thread and give some insight. The same goes to everyone else having issues with the cube's icons not showing up everywhere. DELETE ALL OTHER CUBE MODIFICATIONS BEFORE INSTALLING.

We are also hoping to have a readme out soon with information about what parts of the registry to edit and how to do it so you can put in your own icons or your own links. In the future we're hoping to have a program that will streamline the customization process.

I got a question, i'm replaycing the icons on the icube the first side worked out great but, i can't get the second side to show my icons (the other wall with 12 icons) i already replaced the icons files in the icube folder, checked the registry if it was pointed correctly but i can't find the problem. If there is not a valid Background value (ie. \Windows\D0.brn) then the icons will not show up. I thought I had put the value "\Windows\back.brn" in there, but it may need a seperate value, because I also used that value for APLauncher.

Sorry, I asked this before in this tread and in other forum but I'm not sure anyone understood so i'll give it another shot.

Your i-cube is fantastic!! but, just like the original, if I launch something from the mediahub - music for example - when i close music player the mediahub is still showing. That is cool, it shows off your fine work....however if i launch something from the app launcher side - SMS for example - and exit SMS, the applauncher is no longer showing and you have to invoke it again.
Is there no way to make it always visible on closing an app - just like mediahub does?

You are right, there not 3 but 2 files in your windows directory, the custom apploader doesn't exist yet. But the other 2 are defenetly there.

And if you copy the 3 files in your windows directory you still have to install the icube. After that you will have 27 (incl mediahub) shortcuts in your cube.

Well yeah the icube usses a lot of memory 5 - 10mb, i hope musicman can make it smaller somehow. (the 6side cube on an other forum uses about the same size)

I used the PHM register editor to replace the icons path. but you don't even have to do that. Just make the icons you like and name the exectly the same as the icons icube used. After you're don making all the icons replace the files in the icube folder and softreset. ;)

If you have a sec. i will add the a zip with the files if you have photoshop you can also open the psd file that is included ;)

Okay let me re-frase :D

Get Total commander (total CMD) here! (http://www.ghisler.com/ce.htm)

Browse with totalCMD to your windows directory and copy the following files to your memorycard.

Applauncer.exe
BioTouch.exe

(after this i trust you know how to put the files on your pc)

Now take the files from files4gsm an put them on you memorycard.

now browse with totalcmd to the files and copy them to the windows directory.

After this, install the icube cab file (posted in the 4 post of this thread v 1_11) on your touch.

Now do a softreset.

If everything goes well you now have the icube running.

The regeditor is for changing the paths of the icons (or change the icons themselfs)

I really love the iCube, great work Zyphlin, musicman and also pp18 for this skin and also for burrowing further into the registry to test out HTC's biotouch regkeys!

Some good news: I can reveal that I'm working on an upgrade to 'Touch Settings' which will support 4-sided cubes, including this iCube skin. This will allow full customisation of the apps / icons / number of cube sides / etc.

PS: The current Touch Settings (v2.15pre) does have very limited support for the existing iCube, but will only allow you to change the icons for the MediaHub (3 app side) and the first six apps of the APLauncher side.

I have very little programs installed, but even now experiencing memory problems when using this icube... (progs installed in main memory: htchome, everyting else as far as possible installed on the memorycard)
i still have Storage: 4mb and Programs: 8mb memory left after installing all this

hmmm, i'll have a look. Anybody can give advice how to discover wich programs are installed in the main memory. Maybe there are programs that show which apps are running from the device mem?

with icube i found what im looking for...but unfortently i have a trinity PPC...after reading allmost the hole xda forum...i start to customize the iphone but after i finish i decide to use SCLPF_1-62...but today i found my dream in the icube...wunderful.....

Do you have the problems with bothsides? because i had it just with one side :D

Look into the applauncher registry key if there is a background key (should be in atleast one of the 2) if you find it copy it to the other applauncher (don't know the exact names) and it should run.

The original icons are used for the animation aswell and i think those are the ones you see (and cannot change)

I see that the three icons meant to be at the bottom have black-and-gray-checkered gradient backgrounds (e.g., mail.brn), so I guess those will stay in the bottom row until I learn how to edit .brn's.

I've been editing the brns for icons and animations using this converter

You could convert the brn to bmp and edit them using photoshop/gimp and then convert them back to brn.

I've had problems getting the animation files back into the touch so what i used was memMaid to kill all the cubes processes, copy back the changed files back into my touch and perform a soft reset for the new changes to take effect.

Did you changed the extension from .002(example) to .brn first ? That should do the trick. And if you already had a brn extension. Well i don't know what the problem would be.

There's a nice wrench icon named "settings," but as far as I know it's not actually possible to create a shortcut to the Settings 'folder' in WM. Anyone know different?

Remember, this has only been tried on an HTC Touch. Its meant for PPC's that already have the HTC TouchFlo Cube. We do not know if it works with fTouchFlo yet.

To my knowledge, yes, it must be installed on the device, not on a card.

Lox, Music had the same problem. He ended up having to hard reset to clear everything out to test, and it worked. His theory is that if there are ANY OTHER CUBE HACKS previously installed...4th wall, new animations, new background, etc...that it seems to have some issues. My best advise is to remove everything off your Touch that has to do with the cube, THEN install the cab. I'll see if I can get music to peak over at this thread and give some insight. The same goes to everyone else having issues with the cube's icons not showing up everywhere. DELETE ALL OTHER CUBE MODIFICATIONS BEFORE INSTALLING.

We are also hoping to have a readme out soon with information about what parts of the registry to edit and how to do it so you can put in your own icons or your own links. In the future we're hoping to have a program that will streamline the customization process.

I don't know how I did it, I will work on putting together a how to, but I was able to make the icube 4 sides all applaunchers, no quickdial or mediahub. This work well for me, anyone interested on the how, or do we like quickdial and mediahub? the only problem now, is I don't have enough icons for all the apps I want to use, anyone been creating more ipod looking icons for the cube? I lack the neccesary artistic skills to create good looking icons

Hi everyone,
I've been reading through all 22 pages but am a little confused on the versions of my HTC Touch. I'd got mine from Hong Kong in November, 07. It states Touch Enhanced in the box, the phone colour is green and it comes with English interface.. I know it should be a GSM phone since I can use it with my Rogers SIM card in Canada.

Here is the ROM version from my phone if it helps,

It'd great if someone can identify the version of my HTC Touch as I really want to try the iCube.

manu7d--I think you're good. I didn't know it came in green, but in every other respect you've got the same Touch that I've got--Hong Kong, Enhanced, GSM (Rogers-capable), and same ROM, etc. numbers. Enhanced is a blessing, eh? iCube works fine on mine, so go for it.

basically, go into windows folder copy custaplauncher.exe to other folder rename custaplauncher2.exe, and move back, and again with custaplauncher3.exe, and here is a copy of my registry for biotouch you can look at it is in the ftp upload section called dan's-biotouch

Thanks, Dan, got it. Not sure I'll have time to play with it today, but thanks. I'm busy troubleshooting a random anomaly where ONE icon on the Applauncher side suddenly doesn't activate the app when pressed. Re-entering that reg key manually to see if that fixes it.

Suddenly one icon on iCube's AppLauncher side will not activate an application (App2). All other icons and functions work. It does change to the HL icon when pressed, so it's detecting the press, but nothing else happens. 'Tried changing app path in reg; doesn't matter what app it's pointed to.

RESOLVED:
Messed around with path/param and finally got it to work. Something about the ":MSCONTACTS?outres.dll,-10000" path/param for Contacts app wasn't happy, 'til I just used the "contacts.lnk" (\Windows\Start Menu\Programs) as the path. Wierd.

Find the reg key for this button i think you will find that there are 2 paths remove the one you don't want to start.

You got 2 applaunchers custom apps and app launcher (or something like that)

In the "main" registry directory of the custom app launcher there is a key named background. Copy that one into the main registry directory of the other applauncher.

hey, just a slight anoyance, I drew up some custom animations for my phone, and after using the cube config tool by thisguyinoc it only displays the final frame of each animation, which is not a big problem as all the apps work correctly, the only anoying thing about this, is there is no icon change when i click on the apps. I know it is only displaying the final frame of my animation, because I changed it to black, and the app panel stayed black after the animation. any ideas?

edit: solved my own problem, the background reg key was pointing to a now nonexistant brn file, so I made a blank one, and pointed to it, and now all works as it should. don't know why it waited till I use cube config to cause a problem, as i soft reset several times after deleting the origional background. I suppose stranger things have happened.

hey i installed the iCube app, but now i want to remove it form my phone, i tried removing it with the "remove programs" app but it didnt remove the iCube fully so i got problems using the cube...any help would be appreciated

Is it bad form to answer my own question? Or just to be an idiot and forget that I never copied the iCube mediaminihub.exe over the original HTC file? As soon as I did that and soft reset, the problem disappeared. So Pictures&Video was hard-coded in the .exe? Who woulda thunk it?

are you using the icube? or are you back to stock now? if you are back to stock, check the reg and make sure that there the correct paths for app1, 2, and 3 in biotouch, they should be applauncher.exe, mediahubmini.exe, and something to do with quickdial, I can't recall, and I don't use them anymore if it is calling on applauncher, it might for that side, maybee it is calling on a different pane in the registry, it's hard to diagnose without seeing the registry, maybee shoot me a copy of your registry so I can take a peek

You don't know how to read a registry? You're kidding, right? A .reg file is just a text file--edit it in NotePad. Just don't double-click it unless you want to import it into your registry! ;)

I'm very happy to present the custom cube skin dreamt up and created by Musicman247 and myself…the iCube. Inspired by the user interface of the iPhone while understanding the amazingly small size of the Touch, the iCube interface blends both together to form a unique “cube” skin is both aesthetically and functionally pleasing.

Through modifications to the TouchFlo Cube made by Musicman247 the iCube utilizes a 4 line by 3 column format of icons and “4th Wall” for its launchers. This format provides slightly larger, more finger friendly icons than standard iPhone interfaces while at the same time providing a greater number of shortcuts than a standard 6 cube or Music’s original 8-icon cube mod. The use of a “chalkboard” icon set furthers the effort to give the iCube its own personality while the “flush” animation used for exiting/opening and shifting the cube gives homage to the iCube’s inspiration.

The following are examples of the iCube’s “flush” animations and the full cube in action.

Currently, release 1.0 which should be out within the next few days, will feature a “stock” launcher as the “4th” wall, with each icon connecting to a stock HTC program. The second application launcher, the Custom Launcher, will be able to be edited using registry edits, as will the Media Launcher page. It will also feature the skinned Media and Contacts pages.

We will continue work on the iCube in coming weeks to make it more feature rich and user friendly. We currently have a wide range of ideas so definitely stay tuned for updates.

Finally, major thanks to Musicman247 who is truly the mind behind the iCube’s programming and creation. If not for his talents this would’ve never been more than a wild idea kicking through my mind. Huge props goes out to him.

This may or may not belong here in the iCube thread but since I'm using the iCube I thought perhaps this would be the place to start. I've set up my iCube with a different set of backgrounds and icons - the background is blue instead of black.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if/how you can change the "fade" from standard mode into the cube. When you swipe to bring the cube up or down it starts a slight "fade to black" as the anims start/stop...does anyone know if that can be turned off and/or if the default color could be changed from black to some other colord or image?

Also - which program is initiating the fade into the cube? Is that the BioTouch app or do qdial, applauncher and mediahub handle this?
