The development of the surface rom is on hold due to personal reasons, i think everyone knows about it.
I've got none spare time right now, so the new touch that i was talking about is on hold, the money you guys have donated is in good hands and will be spend well if i got out of the personal stuff.

yesterday without a problem.

today i made a hardreset and did the same. now i have the old interface in the contatcs menu.

In the dutch languate the Tx9 is working fine; have not tried the others yet...

OK, if the camera album should be landscape by default, why is it starting up portrait if choosen from the program-menu?

One other (old) issue: the portraits in the cube overwrite the ones from the todayscreen and vise versa.

Nope the link is removed becouse of htc album. but everytime you click on a picture, the Picture's and video's app opens.

I have nothing installed, only your new rom (just bought the phone),
When i do nothing white the phone it goes in two a screen saver and then after 2min. it goes black. (it looks like the phone it shut down)

One more quick Q. I'm not a fan of the HTC keyboard so i use another one, now the problem is that now while writing an SMS for instance a list of suggested words keeps popping up although i disabled all of these autocompletion/suggestion stuff. Any ideas/registry changes? Thx again and again.

No, this is a rom for a Touch (ELF) NOT for a Touch Dual phone.

Dont know if there's a rom for the Dual phones but i would be surprised if there is'nt one yet.

Enabling BS on the todayscreen helps a little bit: i can overclock, but I doubt if it actually runs any faster.

I disabled BS for now (no need for it, your rom is fast enough anyways) ;)

The rom is great it's a little bit getting used to (the big menu at start etc)

But i run into some trouble i cannot use all of my hardware key's (on/ off, call, hangup, navigation, photo) (but the power button can wake up the phone)

and

when i want to use a custom BG on the main screen it's unussual light ( i took the Bg from your previous rom because i :drool: liked it) with the BG i use now the screen is hard to read.

Other than that, it's great rom ( although i prefere some of the previous rom gui things:P)

Hope you will find the hardware button bug soon because that would be something to flash back for (untill you find the solution)

befor i flashed this rom i've got the original t-mobile rom on my touch. there it was able to write sms if i pushed on a contact at the cube.

if i push on a contact on the cube on this rom, a call starts emidiatly.

Fisr of all: the battery is draining VERY fast (for instance, when I went to bed, it was 94% of charge, when I woke up, in 7 hours, it was 23%). And it hangs, you cannot do anything with it, you shall even restart it a couple of times, because it wouldn't start. What can be the problem???

No problem at all Bram, i think the people who flash their phone all know there allways is a chance the rom has a flaw or two.

I have fixed the weather plugin myself but i cant fix the hardware keys... not that smart yet lol.

Noticed the same...used internet explorer - which I know is a huge memory drain - and got the same message. When looking into the memory I could see I had 41Mb Storage and 18 MB Program which is more then enough. Seems the message is displayed in error (but closing the app, so very annoying)

Two questions about this ROM version..

With the last ROM you made (which i run now) there is a memory problem.
if i look up some sms messages, play some music, watch some pictures and some mails..
it takes up memory..
(nothing strange about this)

but even when i close allll apps.. it does not get me back up to +-27
i sometimes only have 7 left.
then a reboot is the only sollution.

nooksie sayd its a known problem, but with your rom it is somehow a bit of a bigger problem then normal.

Is this more or less solved/better in this version?

and the second question....
Will there be a newer version coming out soon?

My battery is draining fast as well, more then I was used to with other PDA's. But not as bad as yours seems to drain; do you have GPRS and/or Wifi and/or bluetooth swiched off entirely before you go to sleep? All 3 of them having a huge impact on ur battery-life. I do also suspect the BS app to take more then wanted

After I've changed the reg settings, the main change I have noticed that I did not get the message 'out of memeory' twice a day...Still used hibernate regulary to fee memory, but it seems it improved

Have tried it with one of Bram's other roms. not with the latest.

But, just try it out - if you don't like it you can always put the settings back...(you might want to write down the original values)
Worst case scenario: your touch freezes and you'll have to do a hard reset. When you flash your touch on a regular basis (like I do), a hard reset is not that much work - just have a proper backup available ;)

First you have to back up your original rom
(don't know the link for that one but use the search, u can use the backup for waranty problems)
second you have to cid unlock

third, just download the rom you want and run the program ROMUpdateUtility if it stops at 3% the cid unlock wasn't succesfull try again then:P.

After 100% there you go, you have a nice flashed touch but why use the wwe version, Bram will release a good NLD version soon ( at least that's what i'm hoping for)

If the CID was not (properly) unlocked, the update stops at 3%. Probably you will have the bootloader screen on your PDA (the colored stripes) You coud try removing your battery and a couple of soft resets, sometimes that works. If not, just give it a hard reset and you're back in the original (CID locked) environment. (ofcourse you lost all data from the main memory, so start with a backup bfore you flash)

Keep in mind that when you have a large SD card you probably will have to remove it before flashing; put it quickly back in after the flash (just as described in the first post from Bram)

I wouldn't recommend using the registry tweaks posted. Those registry tweaks were used long time ago to make the wizard faster at the cost of some memory. They aren't used anymore because batterystatus can overclock with scaling. The "HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 4096" setting is the other way around of how I know it. It will give some memory, but will make the device slower.

I've tried to flash my phone back from Touch Surface 1.31 NLD to the HTC touch Dual 2.52 version but all i get is

ERROR[260] : CONNECTION

The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone. etc.


My touch connects with activesync so there's no problem with the physical connection until i start the update utility and it actually tries to flash the rom i guess.

I have done the ELF_USPL procedure again (that one actually did work) so i'm a bit confused now about how to get back to the dual 2.52 rom again.

Anybody has an idear?

Strange, i had no problem at all turning back, i used the one in my sig. What i do remember now is that in between the two roms i flashed back to the original NLD rom to test that one (also in my sig).

So if the normal way fails you could try it that way, i don't think it makes any differents but you can try.

My touch connects with activesync so there's no problem with the physical connection until i start the update utility and it actually tries to flash the rom i guess.

I have done the ELF_USPL procedure again (that one actually did work) so i'm a bit confused now about how to get back to the dual 2.52 rom again.

Anybody has an idear?

Allready sorted. I've done the hard reset and then i got at the red-green-blue flash screen and just hooked my phone to my pc and started the update and it started without a problem.

Go into windows/start menu/multimedia

copy the wmp link into windows/start menu/programs/multimedia

then delete this folder:"windows/start menu/multimedia"

it would not allow me to copy it,
but by copying it to my desktop and then in the other multimedia folder, it worked.

Hahahaha, Yes you're rushing ahead:P

i've taken a look at the dumped roms for the touch dual and noticed that there are 4 files for the cube instead of the usual three:

- mediahubmini.exe
- Applaunche.exe
- quickdial.exe
- Custapplauncher.exe(this is the one from the 4 side, i thought)

there are also alotof new brn files in that dump, called Dxx.brn.
And there are some new regsettings.

Making 1+1=2 this is the 4th side!!

So i went testing on my touch(fucked it totally up offcourse) and i'm now at the point that the cube shows the 4 sides but with none of the brn files(the sides are totally black with text on it) and the animations dont work either.

BUT this told me the 4th side has a 9 tab launcher template, where you can launch word, excel, powerpoint, ie homepage(that you've manually set), link direct to google/pda, and three empty launchers.

IF i can manage to merge the brn files into the touc(or other device) this would be a massive breaktrhough!!!

I've tested this one on my touch, and if you use the cube you can see the 4th wall but it will not appear it will "flip over" before it will be showed

So if you install this on your touch you will have a 3 side cube, with not so beautifull icons ( i said it nice :P) and a 4 tab that you will see in the animation but wont show up :P

Nope 273 (as ussual). It was ok for one day, but suddenly I felt that thing burning in my trousers :P It wasn't crashed or something.
After a reboot it was still there. Only after I quit batterystatus everything went back to normal.
I got so hot: I could hardly touch it without burning my fingers :P

could be, 260 ghz is the highest cpu value that this rom can handle. one step higher and the device will not boot.

Wooptidoo....sp1 seems stable and even more flawless then the previous versions.

Just one VERY small remark: according to BS, the temp of my battery is stable, very stable..
Which means: ALWAYS 30C, no matter if I'm working on it, charging it or just waking it up.

one more flaw: the contacts in the cube are still overwriting the contacts in the favourite people. (no matter in which order you insert them, after a soft reset the favourites people are replaced by the cube contactpics....)

About the temp: not as stable as I thought: have now seen 29 and 31 as well !! But really, with other roms the temp changed more - normally between 24 and 39 degrees. So it DOES seem to be a new feature! Maybe one of the reg tweaks in SP1???

One minor, minor bug: when you enter the correct date/time after a flash/hard reset, these are lost when you reboot and you have to enter time/date again via the Settings menu. Nothing major ;)

But to help you out i got the Surface rom in my signature (download @ own risk because of the bugs)

I myself currently flashed back to bram previous rom that's posted also in my sig (Touch Dual NLD 2.52 is a rom for the normal touch). I think that would be a good alternative for you as long as the Surface NLD isn't cooked yet.

but everything i minimize is being shut down after a view seconds.

i first noticed with pocketCM .16
then i tryd it with file explorer.
then both..

when i leave it open its ok, ones i minimize it, it gets shut down after a view sec.

Yeah i'll try my best to include it, working on it full time:p .
It seems that the newer devices(2.xx) can correspond to KbdNopAll.dll(xt9 hardware driver) to use it with the hardware buttons. But the old roms (1.xx) need another dll file to correspond to the hardware buttons. if you want to use the xt9 keyboard fully functional you'll have to use the KbdNopAll.dll but then the device cannot find the other dll to use with the hardware stuff.

Since there's no official dutch 2.xx rom í have to port all the new shit from a wwe 2.xx to an old nld 1.xx rom to use... every app works exept for the htc keyboard.
If i sort this problem, i imediately make an update for it!

Hi all, i just flashed this rom and love it, i think its really great.

Just have a few issues.

When i have tried to get the t-mobile (UK) internet settings for my picture messaging etc, the settings dont get sent to my device from the website, where as my friends does recieved the message with them in.

Secondly the phone constantly has a triangle symbol next to the signal strength at the top, this indicates that i am roming, anyways i can get rid of this?

Do you have any clue on how to disable the "wake up" when receiving an SMS ?
It would be good if it stayed off (or the backlight off) and just have the notification sound...
When it's in the pocket, the screen gets "touched" accidentally due to this problem.

Start > Settings > Today (start> instellingen> Vandaag)
Select an other theme than the default.
Press OK (upper right)
Let the other theme load

Then repeat the first step but select the Default theme. There you have it it's total black now

I have the 2.52 dutch rom still running, but have one question.
On the T-mobile original rom the Touch Setting program (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324556) used to work (very even)
But on this rom the installer wont even run, can't install it? any reason for that?

P.S. were did the advanced configuration come from?

On the T-mobile original rom the Touch Setting program (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324556) used to work (very even)
But on this rom the installer wont even run, can't install it? any reason for that?

P.S. were did the advanced configuration come from?

Did you install the latest? (i had the same problem with an older one)

But with the latest id didn't run into any problems. Never used the program for it purpose but i installed it and had a look around in it.

I'm still using the 2,52 and not the surface (because of the hardware button bug).

And on the 2,52 version it worked.

But i've uninstalled the program, and i'm currently at work so i can't doubble check this for you. Maybe later this day when i'm at home

I have a Dutch T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus, which is the same as the Touch Enhanced/XL (the 256/128mb version).
I already SIM-unlocked it with a guide elswhere on XDA-dev.

My SPL/IPL version is the following:
IPL: 2.81.0002
SPL: 2.81.0000

First: Is it possible to use the WWE 'Surface' ROM with the Touch Enhanced/XL (I prefer English anyway)?
I assume it's also needed to do an SPL unlock? How to do this with the Enhanced/XL? Afaik the USPL update mentioned in the FP only works on the 'regular' 64/128mb Touch, or am I wrong here?
Second: Is it possible to dump my original ROM etc. before updating to the surface ROM, assuming this is possible (and advisable) in the first place? If yes, how?

The 4side cube from musicman works just added in.

But the simple way to edit it has yet to be found. I just replace the icons with my own and edit the name and paths in the registry. But to do that for 27 icons (excluding the fast contact selector) isn't funny after a couple of times :P

(maybe once it's finished i could make a own folder with icons, and a registry backup for the paths, and past those in every time i installed a new rom)

That's correct the only thing missing is the new htc keyboard. But because it's left out the hardware buttons work now :D.

I even saw Bram added a few extra programs to it :D

To answer your question about the styles. I have a folder on my memorycard that holds some of the icons etc when i flashed i simply copy them into the newly made folder and do a soft reset ( i did this with the home icons in the 2,52 days). The same thing i do for some programs such as no data, pocketalarm, games etc it takes some space in my memory card but saves me time finding the programs again and again

Yeah that's also a limitation :P

Start > Settings > Today (start> instellingen> Vandaag)
Select an other theme than the default.
Press OK (upper right)
Let the other theme load

Then repeat the first step but select the Default theme. There you have it it's total black now

The rom has a version of battery status installed by default. i would like to upgrade it to a newer version for some new features. How can i do this. When i install it i think the new version will be installed into program files ("programmabestanden"). Can i safely remove the files in the \windows\batterstatus folder or just copy the new files over it?

You don't have to delete files. To upgrade BS just install the new version. It will ask you to save setting.

Is this six sided cube handy to use, because you have to flick 6 times to get to the other side of the cube. 4 sides will be perfect i think, more apps but less flicking!

Maybe you're right, but i intend to use 1 side for the "settings" programs (reg editor, Schap's, TotalCMD, Screenshot, well the things you have in the system folder)

So only three adjustable sides left :P The flicking doens't concern me, but it think for bigger half of your users you are right about the 4 sides.

I did try the four sides cube (iCube). It used way to much program memory (about 5 extra MB). I didn't try to find out why because I really dislike the iPhone look and went back to the standard asap. Re-Mi: how is the memory usage of the 6-sided cube?

I wasn't talking about the iphone look because i dislike that to :D used the icube before. but now i got an "orginal looking" cube with 6 sides :) and it doesn't need as much mem as the icube.

The only thing i used from the icube thread is the files4gsm.zip file to replace te original files in the windows directory.

Just tried the 6 sided cube. It work, but it does eat A LOT of program memory. Before I had 23,7 mb free after a reboot, now I only have 18 mb free. It does take 5,7 mb! Going to try the cube configuration tool 3.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348418&highlight=Cube+Configuration+Tool) now to see if it's easy to add / remove programs to the cube.

I used the instructions here to set Opera Mini to work better, and stop asking me to allow net use. It worked fine before, with some other roms but with this rom, the solution doesnt work.

It seems to be ignoring the fact ive set the file \windows\appdb\selector.utf to have tckmax - ive checked and its definately right by the instructions but i still get 2 or 3 warnings..

Is this because the Esmertec Jeodek module is pre installed and im looking at the wrong file possibly ?

Any thoughts would be very gratefully recieved :-)

I have a Touch Dual (orange UK) and am trying to flash to the Touch Surface 1.31 WWE rom. Everything connect and starts updating then I get an error saying "this NBF file cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer NBF file".

I think it's a relative good idea to make a basic rom. But i have a question does it make any difference if you install all the apps later on or if they are pre-baked? (memory based)

The reason i like the idea of a basic rom is the fact that some of the programs have a regular update (schap's is updated for example) and maybe the biggest reason is that some of the programs you can get in more languages than english. (totalcmd, i think schap's is also multi lingual, and probly more programs).

So if it doesn't make any difference i think it's a good idea. And maybe you could make an addon packed with the optional programs.

Or better yet. (but i don't think that it's possible)

Give people the option to install aditional program's the moment they install surface in the installing proces.

Ths is a great thingy, but why i'm cooking programs into the rom is becouse the device will respond faster to your programmes, installed programmes by cab slows down the device.

BUT still this is a great tool/idea to start with!

This rom is evolved out of the "Touch Dual" roms and renamed because all the confusion about being it a nike or elf rom.
On my quest to reach the 30+ free program memory i bumped into some problems and still havent reached that point. But it's close and this rom has aprox. 28 mb free when not using fake ext rom.
The folowing roms will have 25 mb free memory because of the ext rom, if i can manage to get 30+ memory i'll remove the ext rom to achieve that.

Hi Bram,

First of all...Merry X-mas.Super ROM, finally got rid of that ugly pink stuff from T-mobile:p
Fwe things which I noticed with this ROM. When I restart I still see T-mobile screen and then se the HTC touch opening screen. Also when I restart (soft reset) and I have have to type in my PIN the phone stops...I see the wait symbol from windows mobile and after 2 seconds it freezes..The fix is to soft reset and when it asks for my PIN to press cancel. Wait till I see home page and then manuallly activate comm manager and turn on antenna by entering the PIN. Any solutions for this problem??
Confirm it has anything to do with radio ROM?(Radio rom 02.93.90)
If I need a radio update...how do I do that?

I'am still having the problem that my Touch resets after turning off the screen (after 1 min. or trough the on/off button). I have this problem with all rom's (also the Touch Surface 1.31 WWE/NLD) except with the rom RUU_Elfin_DOPODASIA_WWE_2.20.707.1B_4.1.13.51_03.0 7.90_BLUE_Ship_Reduced.exe. I would like to use the Dutch rom. Can anyone please help.
