No problem here with mine.
I've found its just like the tytn2 so far, nothing in it.

Why are the HTC Roms so slow ...

Answer:

Windows CE support different Modes for his Registry hives. HTC and other Producer use Disk Stored Hives only, without caching! All guys they cock roms switch to the RAM Stored Mode with Cache enable. But this Mode can make troubles! If you softreset your device befor you make a clean shut down, you lost email settings ... passwords ... a lot of settings :-)

Next point to speed up, are messing around with the FAT Driver. Most time, they are disable too.

This are easy mods ...

Possible hacks are ... dll compressing. some apps starts faster ... some apps have big problem with this type of performance tweaking.

Resume ...

The Plattform "HTC Niki" is Performant. But the roms are built to work under normal condition. It have much space for performance and run time tweaking. some bluetooth settings can make your htc niki run 20% longer if you are use it!
