if what u want is to do a HSPL and flash the ROms available at this forum i dont think u need to pay for this pls read the last two colums in my signature ie click on the link provided and im sure it would work i did not pay for this and i dont think u need :D this is just my sugestion thats all

He is asking for something else, etc not SPL unlocking, its SIM unlocking. His phone is basically hooked to a particular network. May be he bought a package, like in India - you had iPhone with Vodafone & AirTel. If you changed the Sim, the phone would stop working. The same applies to OS, if he changes the OS, his phone will be bricked (well sort of). So he needs to SIM unlock his phone before he can flash any ROM or even HSPL.
So,
DO NOT HSPL YOUR GENE BEFORE YOU SIM UNLOCK!
you may want to contact jockeyw2001 for unlocking your Gene (he charges for it and he is not my friend so don't blame me if anything goes wrong, just that I saw his thread on the Vox forum and a lot of pple has used his service).

I didn't manage to get this to work. I ran the .bat file with the phone connected and sync'd but it hangs on this line:

I got my HTC Gene unlocked by unlock codes and i got unlock codes from Mobileunlocksolutions (http://www.Mobileunlocksolutions.com/htc-gene/rs16wp9/) and unlocked my mobile and i got unlocking instruction from Mobileunlockguide (http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/htc-gene) and followed the instruction and unlocked my HTC..
