So here is it.. Again based on Schaps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350690).. It is the best I could do since stripping down further kills "cold boot" customization for some reason..

Storage memory
Total: 54.99MB , Free: 52.26MB
Program memory
Total: 50.77MB , Free: 28.22MB

Nice!! (^^)

I always ask, but ... What are the differences between this ROM and Schap's 4.22 ROM? Can you post a complete list with the changes? Is this ROM based in Normal or Lite?
I'm now using Shamanix`s Grass v1.3, and it's the best ROM I've ever use ...

Thanks!
Sesaru

It is based on full that I wanted to make into lite and leave internet sharing in, but it didn`t work out like planned..
I`ve done some cosmetic changes and removed some things that could be removed ( FTouchFlo, random access, large titlebar, ect.. )

Fast !!! Could you please tell me what different between 1.3 and 2.0 ?

Shamanix
13th December 2007, 03:39 AM
The difference is in the OS build version, v2.0 is the newest available out there ( thnx to Schaps )
v2.0 had more apps cooked in and it is not lite anymore like v1.3 is..

kwill
13th December 2007, 03:50 AM
man, still just a fast if not faster! honestly, i think its a great job even without it being a lite rom. you kept the most important apps cooked in and actually save me from installing a few apps that slow the rom down. thanks!!!

is anyone getting an error on restart saying "ptt findwindow failed"? this is of course after installing the ptt fix. just checking

Yes that file has issues, I found this one in Schap's forum and it works without errors.

Not to be a b*tch, but it seems slower, and after re-assigning keys, they dont work. Figured you'd rather know than not know.

dragonajie
13th December 2007, 07:15 AM
yup, it is a tad slow. personally i think schaps 4.01 has the best speed and stability so far so that's why Shamanix 1.3 works so well.

kwill
13th December 2007, 07:37 AM
seems the same or faster to me and my device is loaded with stuff. not to mention i use the freestyle launcher which required flash lite to always be running and i have no issues with slow down of the program. honestly shamanix's roms have been the only ones that run as fast as it does currently. although i haven't tried one of shap's.

I hoped you can make it to the lite version :(
as it has built in htc home and other stuff I don't use I won't be installing but will surely wait impatiently for your next lite version :)
will you still be working on lite one or rather wait for the new schap's rom?

Shamanix
13th December 2007, 01:22 PM
Nope.. I`m sorry, but lite version simply will not work.. I`ve could remove HTC Home and Adobe Reader ( I use those anyway ), but if I remove any other app it messes up provmxl settings and cold boot customizations wich is not an option..

I gave my best but I just couldn`t figure out why removing RRS hub or BT explorer,..ect. will kill settings.

I know you gave your best, no doubt about that :)
but if schap will release new version you still will be trying to lite'ning it? :)

Yeah, I always go for lite... :D

It is a shame this one wouldn`t work out.. :(

Shamanix this did work out, I guess you can classify this one as a medium rom. Yes at times certain items feel a half tick slower, but others like TOMTOM, AudioManager, and Camera Album open 2 ticks faster and are much smoother to operate. The overall rom is more stable and is still much faster than any OEM Rom.

Also you removed the right amount of stuff, because now when I add the programs that I use on top of what is already cooked in, I now have an additional 10mb free now. I went from 22mb free with a lite and adding everything, to 32mb free after only adding what was missing.

Thanks for the Excellent Work.

Some things here do run faster.. switching to landscape/portrait.. like nothing i've seen so far

There some issues with ustable internet connection, but I think that is just my lousy operator :D
IE page scrolling is slow though..
Who knows what other issues there might be..

Now I don't know what to do next: fix bugs in this one or do a remake grass v1.5 with internet sharing, that will be stripping down schaps full ROM to see if it will behave like this one while stripping.. hmm..

it would still be great if you could even take at least HTC Home out. it sucks up my program mem and i don't use it because of the freestyl interface im already running. which is really the best ive seen out there. and its free!!!

Working with 2.0 for a few hours. All the things i've used so far are working and it sem to be a bit faster than 1.1

There seems to be a problem with the vertical scroll bar. Several times it appears to be not alligned. Than later on it works again. Didn't find a logic yet.

Same happened to me when trying schap's ROM and shamanix 1.3 Didn't happen in Shamanix 1.1

Anyone else having this?

xdaradar

This is certainly not to complain, Shamanix-ROM is the best for me. Just some findings that all worked fine in version 1.1:

Audiomanager:
Does an extensive library search at every startup. It knows it's library but still searches a long time. When launching audiomgr from the htc-home tab, it doesn't show the last played song immediately. You need to tap a second or third time, then the audiomanaer library screen will show up, busy searching.

Audiomanager:
When tap/hold on a mp3 file in explorer and then "open with" audiomanager, the library will show up and not the file to play

Windows mediaplayer:
When tap/hold on a mp3 file in explorer and then "open with" mediaplayer, the mediaplay say's "file not found". When opening from the mediaplayer it's okay.

WM5Storage:
The troubleshoot options can't be set
The desktop does not recognize the PDA
When closed the filesystem lost the storagecard and soft reset is needed
After installing the same 1.8 version from a cab file it works as it should

HTC-Home Weather plugin
Copy of my own citydb like in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319187 gives the option to choose my city, but is unable to retrieve the weatherdata

Please make a Grass 2 Lite based on Schaps 4.22 Lite as you did with your previous Roms and fix things that you sure can

dgates71
14th December 2007, 07:05 AM
Just a suggestion, you already now how I feel about your rom. Unlike most roms that slow down over time, this one gets faster. I know Task Manager is already in the rom, but try out wktask, easier to switch between programs and more configurable.;)

Shamanix, IMO builing further on 2.0 is the better option then going for 1.5

- very quick on long file-lists like the windows directory
- the first vesion i see that's really doing memory housekeeping well!!!
--- closing down IE will make free memory realy jump, never seen this before
--- starting audiomgr will make free memory go up/down for a while wile searching for files and then free-up again when finished
- overall speed/stability stay´s okay, at least this one day since i use it

For me a few work-arrounds makes even the current 2.0 very usable
- wm5menu cab install fixes the not working cooked-in one. Same version 1.8
- audiomanager cab install fixes the earlier mentioned issue of slow startup during library search. version 816.716
- IE Slow Scroll Fix.cab posted by dgates71 indeed solves this problem
- htc-home cab install from N2A: HTC Home 2.1 for Hermes/TyTN/Vario II (Schen cab, with Hermes brightness fix, WM6 only) solved the issue of n data for added cities

So i´ll stick to this 2.0 and see what happens in all day use, for me the major gain is the proper memory housekeeping

Everyone his own flavor, but maybe you could try Shamanix 1.1

It's newer than 3.54c and for me it was very stable and fast for many weeks intensive use ;-)

Thanks for all your reports!

I`ve thought about it and I will edit Schaps 4.22 lite ROM. I tried to get internet sharing in my lite ROM by stripping Schaps full ROM, but that just didn`t work out with 4.22 version :(

I hope someone will manage to create working internet sharing cab..

Grass v2.1 is ready now and I will give it a test drive and if it is all good, it will be released later today..

Hello, I had also problems with Schaps 4.22 ROM and Internet Sharing, so I took 4.22 Full. Today I flashed Grass 2.0 and I am was very suprised - wow, It is reactive! Will testing this stuff, but for now I am satisfied!

Ok.. I`ve tested outlook picture bug in new v2.1 that is based on Schaps lite and it seems that in lite ROM outlook picture bug is not present..

But slow IE scrolling bug was present, I`ve fixed that one..

PTT button will be fixed too in v2.1, so no need of installing cab fixes anymore.. ;)

A little more testing to be sure that I haven`t forgat anything and if there is something to be fixed before releasing

Would you be willing to use HTC-Home from N2A like in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319187

It is the same, newest version, you use. But it's patched to get weather data from added cities, since we don't all live in the bigger cities of the world ;-)

Shamanix back to the above issue at hand, apparently this bug has gone away in my device, I do not exactly know what could be the reason for the outlook picture alignment bug to go away but did installed IE Slow Scroll Fix.cab by dgates71 ..it has gone away without having to go to landscape mode & back to potrait (one way to re-align the pic, temporarily only)

below is my device screenshot (mail outlook opened in potrait mode)

..maybe those having the same issue could try this to make it go away, hopefully, as in my case :) ..good luck

Shaminix your roms are always the best. I love how light they are.
