Porting T-Mobile Shadow's Chome plugin to other devices.

Hello.

I'v trying this for a couple of hours without effects.
Dumped rom, builded modules with PKGTool. Files are in OEM/Oemdrivers and SYS/Chome. It does't run by just copying. Need some way to regsvr dll files. Because Chome plugin is accesing partial plugins by GUID.

Anyone have idea?

You can use Registry Workshop to do this.

Those keys don't contains any personal information or settings so it's safe- don't worry.

I'll be getting my own Shadow in a couple of days. I can do the backup then. Once again, I don't have much time to do anything else because of school and a robotics team I'm on.

When I tried flashing my first rom with all of the CHome plugin stuff in it, the ROM flash to the wizard stopped at 78%...

Once I've tried to put all the files to my phone, I even got all the regedits (or maybe I've missed something) and I just got a white space on my homescreen.

You cannot normally import .reg files on smartphones. However Resco Explorer from resco.net can do that.

Have You manage to run this plugin on non shadow device?
Files are easy to extract but make it work does not.

I tried on qtek 8500. It doesn't run and after reset the device stucks. Need a hard reset to factory defaults to work again. fortunately I had a backup.

Yes we actually know that chome is part of theme, about that MUI and other many many files too.

Can You just post orginal Shadow rom.

It's not for lack of trying!
I tried to make a CAB last night. It did NOT work. It kills the Home screen entirely and slows the phone down to a crawl.
Porting the entire Shadow ROM works fine though.
I do know that there are other files required, because when I cook a new ROM with a different OEMAPPS folder, Neo doesn't work right. It loads and the clock advances, but the navigation buttons don't do anything. I don't know, maybe it needs Flash for the animation?

GnatGoSplat: confirm. there's actually a problem with neo without using a cooked rom. tested with s710.

EDIT: not a matter of flash though. It doesn't work on my s730 with flash either.

ok here wat i got. i combine the files of my p4350 and the juno (mainly kept the wm6 pro files intact) then when i combine it and flash it i get a blank today screen than i tried flashing barebone neo rom since my fone is cid unlock that i get to work but my keyboard don*t so i can*t get past set up. than when i put my fone driver it actually reconzize the keyboard but after setup nothing work awww this is pissin me off but i am glad there is finally some interest in this. i got a few more trick but it probably be any benefit to anyone for smartfone. and fo all the touch screen user once i port it i will try to add touch scroll. lol i hope!

Yeah, there's more to Neo than just the obvious files ch*.* and cm*.*. There's something else. What I'll need to do is see if I can extract any references to any GUIDs and check CLSIDs in registry to see what DLLs those GUIDs refer to.

A disassembler could be helpful to track dll dependencies..

EDIT: opening cmhome.dll with an hex editor, i found references for cmhome_smartfon.dll i can't find anywhere in the dump... :(

I have a Dopod C750 (HTC Juno) same as TMobile Shadow. Now wifi was lost with error "Driver not loaded" and keyboard always use XT9 (Chinese ROM is base)
I know T-Mobile Shadow has just new ROM update with any bug removed.
Anyone can share me:
- RUU link file (don't offical T Mobile site)
- Unlock CID or change region to upgrade my phone

I doubt it's possible to make it a CAB. The plugin works great when cooked into a ROM, but the exact same files in a .cab don't work.

I think it's probably because some of the OS-level files MUST be loaded as modules (chome and ConfettiCore).

We're trying to port WM6.1 to the Shadow and would like to be able to see if is it possible to have both WM6.1 pannels and Neo in the same device.

The new WM6.1 Pannels interface it's nice but I think Neo it's better.

so after 2 weeks trying to put neo inside a cooked rom for vox, i've no result.
:(
i think it miss something more !
for the files i take :
- Confetticore (SYS)
- all CHome folder (SYS)
- bgimage.xml and cmhome.home.xml
- all chome*.png in OEMDRIVERS
- fe.dat and FDN.exe
i install a default theme for neo (blue or brown)

when i finish cooking, i've got a blank screen or a normal windows homescreen blue or brown

is someone who cook for an other device can help me ?

I'm liking the way this plugin looks. I would really like to know if anyone successfully ported it to another device and has a cab file and/or instructions on how to do so. I have a kaiser and I cannot use the htc home screen due to bugs with it and iGo8.
