My Stripped Rom originally Crashed w/ KarhU's Benchmark Test.
I think these Roms were built w/ HyperCore's xx_os.nb which also crashed KarhU's test.
Which in both cases may have been the result of not deleting the OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL
I have since followed matts suggestion:
Make sure the OEM_FLASHDRV.DLL from the OEMDrivers is removed first. I think it's what made the difference.
(As an Extra precaution; I used matts xx_os.nb.)
After that, I ran SPB Benchmark two times on my stripped version, and it ran all the way thru without a crash. :D

Roms Removed Jan. 02, 2008

I won't be re-posting these Roms.
Instead I will be working with My rebuilt Schaps 4.01 Lite
In which ICS is now Working:
Link - Rom: Schap's WM6 4.01 Lite (With Internet Sharing!) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356330)
Once I clean it up, then I might repost a Merged ExtRom Version (SuperStorage)

Schaps 4.01 Roms without the Ext Rom!

Stripped From 4.01 Full:
Adobe Flash Lite
Calculator
Mobile Power Point
Streaming Media
Task Manager
Windows Live Messenger
Windows Update

Spb Benchmark index 364.25
CPU index 1400.59
File system index 156.26
Graphics index 1175.25

Note:
No Splash Screens - So you'll still have the Splash from whatever Rom you flashed last.
Unless you http://wiki.modaco .com/index.php/Custom _Hermes_Splash

I ran Schaps 3.54c w/o Ext Rom for almost 2 months and never had any issues.
It ran just as good as the one with the Ext Rom.
So I did the same for the 4.01's :D

If you feel the desire to donate, give it to either Schaps, Matt, Bepe, Tadzio or even KarhU, for making sure the cooks only give you the best.
(If I forgot anyone, please forgive me. I just mentioned the ones who I first thought of. :)

Thanks dude, currently running 4.01 with some apps in extended rom, this is perfect. Been running 4.01 for a few weeks now and it is solid.
Had some problems with previous bigstorage roms (freezing) will report back if any problems.
Nice thing is I can just go back to 4.01 standard with a backup file if required.

thanks :-D

I hope you mean store a copy of it on the storage card for your treo that you later plan to flash to your Hermes ;)

The 'full' download is corrupt, tried to download twice

when extracted with winrar:

! C:\Downloads\Schaps_Full_401-ExtRom.rar: CRC failed in RUU_signed.nbh. The file is corrupt

Can you please reupload or explain what I am doing wrong?!
cheers
Russ

I'm sorry,
I tested the Lite, I should have also tested the Full.
I will try and upload one that works later tonight.

 That's a lot of memory free

Any chance you could do the same with Schaps 4.22? :D I'd have no idea where to start

After flash your ROM, in the About in Setings i have:
CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18533.0.7.0)

In the Schaps thread (ROM 4.01)

Release notes:

Changed operator name display rules
[...]
Startup animation moved to Extended ROM (saves 800KB of storage)
Main features:

WM6 version 5.2.1933 build 18533.0.7.0 [NEW]
[...]
All bugs from the previous versions should be fixed!OEM applications:

Camera app 4.0.28276
[...]
VoIP Settings 0.9

Why your ROM presents a different OS and a Build ??

Why your ROM presents a different OS and a Build ??

It might be the xx_os.nb I used.

Don't know if that's a bad thing, good thing, or otherwise.
Either way the Rom works great for me.

Sorry Guys

I am having ridicules internet trouble.
I am going to give up on trying to upload a fixed Full.

Here is all I did to get rid of the Extended_Rom
Get the Ruu_signed.nbh
NbhExtract to NbDump (Tadzio’s Tools)
Replaced Schaps xx_os.nb with Bepe’s (rename if needed)
And then NbBuild.
Used Dutty’s ‘Nb to Nbh.’
And then Flashed.

That’s the simple way, and it worked for me first time.

I actually did a lot more after that to fix shortcuts that pointed to ExtRom, and moved contents of ExtRom to xx_os.nb.dump.

And if you really want to clean it up, you can edit the Registry to reflect changes.

What did you strip and what did you leave from the full? I don't use all the apps in it but like having some available 'just in case'. Sorry - just after spending so much time flashing and reinstalling recently I don't want to reflash just to see what is there. If you don't have time to let us know don't worry about it. cheers Russ

this is probably the best rom i have ever used so far, based on 4.01. I loved most of the features already there and the only thing i wanted to add is the .NET CF 3.5 instead of 2.0, but i will try to cook that into this version later myself.

I love the fact that the calls are so loud in this one, comparing to 4.22. I didn't know why but that is the main reason that i am using this rom rather than the new 4.22 :)

excellent job berdinkerdickle , big applause!

Even though I never had issues, and you may neither;
these Roms Crash w/ KarhU's Benchmark Test.

If you replace Schaps os.nb by Bepe's os.nb, I guess you are not using Schaps' ROM but Bepe's ROM...

Can you explain a bit more on what file to replace/modify? Thanks.

Short Answer:
Yes and No :)

Can you explain a bit more on what file to replace/modify? Thanks.

Start with the Ruu_signed.nbh of choice.
And then:
Nbhextract
Nbdump
replace xx_os.nb with matts
(his is tried and tested)
Nbbuild
Nb to Nbh
Now just Flash
