I was thinking about this today, I love opera mini browser so much, and its so stable and requires little resources, so.... what if opera made a mobile operating system to replace your windows operating system??? Would you buy it? If it would be as good as their browser, we'd be looking at tons of memory space, fast load times, and a beautiful interface thats very fluid. If they made something like this would you pay for it? Say maybe 50 bucks?

considering that Opera has no experience at all in operating systems id have to say that there is no way that I would bother with it. Internet browsers and operating systems are as different as michael vick and a PETA member. Sure Opera is a great browser but this has nothing to do with them making a nice stable operating system. Just like how firefox is great for pc's but minimo sucks for pocket pc's. And thats just moving from Pc to pocket pc, let alone jumping from internet browing to operating systems.

Android is a linux-based OS that was being developed by Andy Rubin and his team members from Android, Google bought the company a couple years ago and them along with about 34 or 35 other companies are developing the OS, this is why its known as an Open Handset Alliance, mulitple companies have their hand in its development. Opera's R&D is based solely on internet browsing, nothing to do with the OS, although i would like to see an Opera browser developed for Android, they could do that.

It says that android is open source, not to sound retartded but does this mean that more than likely someone will make a port for our htc phones?
I'm really tired of windows mobile on my htc elf.. i cant begin to tell you how impatient i get with my phone, and have to hard reset it..

yes, htc is one of the companies that will most likely be making phones for the android OS, which means it should be able to pe ported

I thought that was what the Opera Platform is....

Personally I would prefer to run wm6 with a custom smarttoolkit opera homescreen plugin that works with OPERAMOBILE "NOT O Mini" as default browser.
