Hi,

I'm completely new to all this but I have done my best to try and figure it all out for myself but I'd still like to make sure I've understood a few things correctly...

I have an SFR s300+ bought here in France. The OS is WM5 and I'd like WM6.
I have allready tried out the "off"+"camera button"+soft reset to see if I needed to install a hard SPL : I do.
I've downloaded Des' Crashproof (due to the reassuring name) SPL.
I can now install that by following the guide without backing anything up yet (correct me if I'm mistaken)...

Once done I will have to copy all my important info and then I will be able to flash any ROM of my choice (English, French, official or not) is that right?
If I'm not mistaken and I can now install any ROM, which English ROM is the best?

I'd also like to know if I have to install a radio after this or will the one I have at the moment (that works fine) be preserved?
If I do have to install a radio which do you recommend for SFR in France considering I sometimes go to Spain.

One last question ; does installing an update to WM6 require a product key or registration of any sort like Windows on the PC or can I just flash and use freely?

If anyone takes the time to answer any of my questiions I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

Yes, install the ROM you like.

Best ROM? impossible to answer - lots of good ones about - try bepe black and blue karmba, mary - any recent English ROMS.

Although you do not NEED to install another radio - you probably SHOULD because your battery life under WM6 will be terrible with your current radio.

I would recommend 1.46.00.11 - although an radio from 1.41 upwards should be OK with SFR and on other networks in other countries. (I'm an SFR customer and connect in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, UK etc.)

You will not need a licence key key to work with WM6.

Happy flashing.

Thanks for the answers! ;)
Ok, well I'll give it a go when I'm a little less tired and report back...

One last thing, the battery life under WM6 comment got me wondering, is it worth the hassle (WM6 that is)?
I would guess so considering all the WM6 ROMs that people have gone to great lengths to make...

All opinions are welcome and appreciated.
