Hard-SPL or How to have something the rest of XDA-Devs runs

Hi there:
I am new to this and my questions may seem lame but I hope someone can help.
Thanks to another member of this forum I have been pointed in the correct direction for the Polaris and the attendant threads. Unfortunately I have been reading the threads concerning upgrading my O2 Orbit 2 (Polaris) for most of today, off work. I have been reading threads and faithfully following the links but I seem to be being led around in circles. Various members either praise the upgrade or complain that it helps in one area but fails in another; radio ROM's and so on.

My problem is that I purchased an O2 Orbit. I have been using Tom Tom for a few years and have lots of maps. The Orbit uses "CoPilot Live" and only has one map.

My questions therefore are:
Is it possible to "upgrade/change" the ROM so that my Orbit O/S and GUI will be the same as the HTC Polaris and therefore use TOM TOM? I have looked for the ROM but cannot find an actual download area; I even visited OLIPRO's website but that didn't help. Found a thread from a user that seems to say he did exactly this.

If so what programs do I need to accomplish this?

Are there verbose instructions on how to accomplish this; I am a beginner and need lots of assurance before attempting this?

Will my Orbit be unlocked; so that I can still use the O2 connection.

Will the TOM TOM program be loaded into the same ROM area that CoPilot Live is using at the moment?

During this update this hangs on 99%. After a while I got an error message and had to disable USB and than remove battery. I Reinstalled battery again and have the 3 color mode again. On the upper side there is the following text.

I tryed to update again and again and again, but it stucks on 0%.
I tryed other Radio Roms, but nothing happens. I tryed Hard-SPL-V2, but still nothing matters. I tryed a hard reset on my phone, but it only comes back with the 3 colored bars.

Bon j'ai réussi à faire marcher le Hard SPL avec mon Cruise cependant je n'arrice toujours pas à changer de ROM.
J'ai suivi la manip pour mettre la ROM de seiya mais lorsque le flash commence j'ai une page grise avec écris "loading.." et peu de temps après j'ai à nouveau le message que j'ai posté plus haut.

Personne à une idée?

Je suis vraiment nul lol.
Avant j'avais un SPV M650 et la mise à jour de la rom se fasait toute seule.
Là il faut brancher le tél en moe USB (appui sur le bouton APN puis soft reset en gardant le bouton APN appuyé)

Actually i have already flashed a ROM on my device, without having hardspl installed before (because i didnt know anything about it, when i flashed :-P).. It was Panosha's Think ROM. and well, whaterver bricking is (something bad certainly) it seems to not have happened to my device.. because it's running fine.. the only probs i'm having concern the microsd..

so, was that pure idiots-luck (anfängerglück) or is there another explanation?

I have bee trying everything but no success yet in updating the ROM. I bought it in Delhi from an authorised dealer

I got my HTC diamond yesterday with the following: (when I turn it on i get the Airtel Screen so assuming that it is simlocked)
ROM: 1.37.720.2 WWE
ROM date: 06/16/2008
Radio Version: 1.00.25.03
Protocol Version: 52.26a.25.09G

Now.. i downloaded the Hard- SPL and tried it on my phone.. it sends a message on the phone that the program is from an unpublished author and would I like to continuew or not.. I say YES but nothing happens, my phone simply restarts as normal.

Can anyone please guide me step by step (sorry to be such a pain) as how i can upgrade my ROM version so I can enjoy the phone fully?

Hi guys!

I've recently bought a used Polaris. After a few days it started acting funny (actually it wasn't that funny) and I had to reset it... several times in a row. The annoying thing kept locking during the reset. Sometime even getting in boot loader :eek:

Anyway... after a little time (and my data to get lost) I got it to work. So my next step was to try and load a newer ROM, cause I believe it could be more stable or this one here can be messed-up.

First step: SPL. Got it from here :)
First problem: the clean start doesn't sync with my PC :confused: and when I try to run the SPL ROM update, it keeps giving me the "ERROR [224]".
I reinstalled Activesync.... disabled the firewall...
must I also reinstall WinXP?!?!?!?

Can anyone PLEASE help me?!

Just had to hard reset (again) my polaris :S
Hard-SPL worked also :D
Now to the ROM update :P

i don't know what happened, running a ROM update stuck at 17% and then after recovery it doesn't get a step further than 0%. I run the mtty.exe but i get command error. What should i do????

Hi everybody,
please find a solution for resuscitating my cruise!
I bought it in the US, it was unbranded and SIM unlocked (and it seemed brand new). Everything was find till the official 6.1 update come out. I decided to make the update but could not download anyone. I guess my cruise is from singapore, hong kong or similar because I found a navigator software with maps of those countries in the box.
So I downloaded the official roms (WWE and ITA) from a direct link, but could not flash any of them because I got the error message "ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID"
Finally I decided to use the HARD-SPL to unlock the device, but something went wrong (I could not tell what) and now my device is stuck in bootloader mode!:(

On the screen I read:

Here is what I do and what happens when I try to use HARD-SPL V2:
1) I connect the USB cable and the writing on the device changes from "serial" to "USB"
2) I run romupdateutility
3) I check "I understand..." + next
4) I check "I completed..." + next
5) on the PC a message "verifying the information on your PDA phone, please wait" appears and after a while the device switches to a screen with a progress bar at 0%, while on the PC the following message appears:

Just a quick one, when i run the Romupdateutility and go through the options to flash it, the phone asks me to run jumpspl.exe, i assume its a yes to this. I havent as yet and it times out with a connection error.

I have been trying to unlock my touch cruise with the pack in this post.
I got passed the first step, on the boot screen I now see
SPL-2.20.OliNex
CPLD-2

But under no circumstance I can get the radio rom installed. I get the message "incompatible device" all the time, I even tried to install the murata radio rom prior to this.

And redo step 1 as suggested in a previous comment.

"Also the rom flasher says all data will be lost ... I haven't lost any data on my phone ... Am I doing something wrong ?"

The problem here is that I did not HARD RESET... read what hard reset is (resetting the device to factory settings)

After that all will go smoothly ;)

edit: Oh and one more thing to add, if I try to click on update radio while in boot mode, the Polaris Unlocker application freezes and I need to kill it.
Although I managed to install the murata rom in this stage (from withing the boot loader, and not from a sync connection)

my cruise was hard spl'ed at a couple of seconds!!! that was really fast! i did not HARD RESET my device after the upgrade, no data/info lost. thanks Olipro!!!

btw, i just want to ask, if ever i will be going back to official HTC WM6.1 rom WWE, do i need to revert the SPL to the original one?

I have solved my issue, try to do this:
Try to execute the "Polaris_CustomRUU" app when you have your PDA on, this mean have it in normal mode, not TriColor screen. When you click on next, then your pda will be on TriColor screen, unplug and plug the usb. and continue on next app.

I tried that on my touch cruise/polaris, and the thing still hangs at 0% Even attempted to do that as the progress bar was displaying, only resulting in the winApp crashing and the phone continuing...

err... seems I should read better about running hard-spl-v2 and such. installed that first and now flashing Amine @33% and counting :)

Ran HardSPL last night and everything went normally. Now I am unable to use my phone on the AT&T network here. I saw the radio was still flashed to the one included with the HardSPL app so I flashed back to my original radio and no help there either. I bought my Polaris unlocked from Expansys so perhaps I didn't need to run HardSPL? I have a SIM from AT&T and maybe that is what got hosed? I am not sure which way to proceed...maybe I need a different radio from the original one I had (1.58.25.14). I have not flashed any new ROM yet...still with original (1.28.405.3 WWE). Any help here would be great!!

I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what. I downloaded the hard spl program and unzipped it on my pc. Then I coppied it to my HTC Touch Cruise on my card. When I activate the program bootloader or something I get the tree colour screen and unplugged the usb cable. After that nothing happens, the screen won't dissappear. I repeated this procedure two times but it didn't change anything. Anyone has an idea what I'm doing wrong?

download the file and unzipped it on your computer.

Than make a connection via Active Sync.

Start the romupdateutility.exe and when the 3 colors appears just unplugged and plugged the usb cable.

After a moment it's done ;-)

I get ERROR 264.
And nothing happens.
Tried several times.
First time I got to "accept" two files to be run on my device.
Then it got to "three color"-rom screen.
At that moment SPL said no contact. And when I removed and inserted USB again the PC loaded some hardware drivers.
Next try, same thing, accept two files, but now it didnt go to ROM screen.
Now every time I try nothing happens. Only gets the 264 ERROR.

I have upgraded with official ROM from HTC to 6.1:
ROM: 3.13.413.0 SVE
ROM Datum: 08/24/08
Radio: 1.59.42.15
Protokoll: 25.85.30.07H

Please assist me.

if you have the original spl then your mobile should accept the original rom

i have used Hard SPL to allow for installing new roms, this works, but after installing Hard SPL i got a very bright (ugly) display on my XDA Orbit 2, is there any fix for this?

As long as V2.2 works for the polaris, why bother the Kaiser 3.x version.. Happy cooking...

i may just be making some stupid mistake here, but i can't get hard-spl to work.

i've done a hard reset, removed the card, made a synced connection, and started ROMUpdateUtility.exe.
go through the screens, using this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1915918&postcount=93) post as a guide since the manual it tells me to read is not present.

it tells me i'm gonna see a progress bar on the phone and on windows, and that i have to wait ten minutes. the problem is what comes now.

i get the progress screen on my pc, but not on my phone.
i do get two popups if i'm sure i want to run two programs, to which i've both said yes, and get a red/green/blue screen, lose my sync, and get a new driver to install. i also get a 260 error.

i try again, doing the whole thing over again (hard reset, setting up sync, running the exe), no driver this time with the rgb screen this time of course, but other than that just the same.

third try, i say no to both programs it asks me if i'm sure about, still a 260 error.

what am i doing wrong?

within seconds the device will then become upgraded to Hard-SPL.

once that's done, enjoy, you're unlocked.

When I start the utility I get two questions on the cruise to run software. I answer both with Yes and after the second question, the device just does a soft reset. Nothing more.

I don't even get to that. It just does a soft reset like it would when you would press the reset button.

But I think I know where I went wrong... This is a T4242, TCII so I'm just totally going the wrong way I guess.

OK folks, Hard-SPL is finally released, my apologies for the delay, but I had a few teething troubles with my own device... well, actually I broke the sec area then had loads of fun fixing it.

Yeh you can use it be able to flash the cooked roms onto it. The unlocker is just for sim unlocks I believe...

Just a quick question Could i use the new WM 6.5 rom On my mobile? Or Google Android?

I used Hard-SPL V2 On my Orbit... I Formatted my MSD Card in fat32 then place the Hard-SPL V2 on it. Loaded the software up whilst connect to my pc via USB through WMDC.
It Just freezes at the part where it askes you to re-plug USB... I un-plug and the device disconnects from the pc and re-plug but then nothing happens doesn't even re-connect to the WMDC. (Confused.com :eek: )

Also you do not need to put hard spl on your memory card have you read this yet (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600) may help solve a few issues...

Once you flashed press down on the camera button and reset. The boot loader should say 2.20.Oilnex. Then your done go pick a rom

How do i run the bootloader!?!?! For some reason everytime i try to run the .exe it always crashes. What am I doing wrong?

Hi folks,

I've followed all the instructions and when I run RomUpdateUtility.exe it all looks good. The phone prompts me to install EnterBootloader and I answer yes. Then it prompts me for JumpSpl but then nothing. The program times out and then the phone is locked up, and I have to take the battery out and restart, at which point it starts normally.

I can repeat this ad finitum, it's not bricking the phone or anything.

Anyone have an ideas?

Hi. i bought an o2 xda II phone.im was using it till now on different sim network ( i suppose it was unlocked?? )n it was working perfect till yest when it went on bootloading tri colour mode on restarting it. Downloaded the lastest flash rom from o2 site n tried flashing. It shows the installation completed only that when i check the SPL version its still the old one and not updated and screen again shows bootloader tricolour screen. What must i do? Kindly help.

Stock ROMs can usually be flashed without Hard SPL. Put your device in bootloader, and then run the RUU on your desktop.

I have installed RUU_Polaris_HTC_WWE_3.13.405.0_radio_sign_25.85.30 .07_1.59.42.15_Ship
and then the HardSPL v2
When i try holding camera button + soft reset the polaris just soft resets, but it doesn't switch to bootloader mode
Then I've installed the attached cab ant after executing it I can enter into bootloader and it says SPL-2.20.OliNex so I'm sure that I have the SPL v2 installed but the Camera+SoftReset doesn't work

What can I do?

My name is Freddy, and I've just made my debut :) on flashing my Touch Cruise yesterday night. (My past experience was flashing a MIO A701).

I would however like (if you know) someone to clarify me:

I tried to make an easy flash on Android (thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921053 - post # 2 NAND)

But although I made all steps, when I enter the SPL (Camera+soft reset) with all files in my SD (formatted and with correct files and folders), it doesnt load from the SD, it only shows below the message serial (or usb if i connect to PC). In the images of the above thread I see that is version 2.08 but the spl version here is 2.20. Will this version be uncompatible?! Where can I find the 2.08?
